The portion sizes get smaller every time and the prices are not worth it. $17 for a bowl? No extras? For reference the price use to be $12.11 with tax in 2020. This place isn't a bad choice if you're looking for a filling but somewhat healthy lunch or casual take out meal. As you might expect it's another build it yourself food option. Different base, proteins, toppings, and sauces so lots of customization options. I got a jasmine rice base, half and half steak and chicken (steak is an extra charge, half and half is free), topped with cucumber salad, mango slaw, corn mixture, and teriyaki sauce. The sauce was delicious but they didn't put enough on in my opinion. Chicken was unremarkable but the steak was yummy, not sure if worth the extra charge because they honestly don't give you that much protein. Mango slaw was great, rest of the veggies good also. Seating inside is fine, all bar stools with no back. And a few seats outside. Definitely a more quick service feel but that's what you want sometime. Overall it's a fine choice but I wasn't super impressed with the meat and amount of meat and sauce. Still would get it for a quicker healthy-ish option! read more

On my way to Chop Stop for a quick salad and I saw a line out the door for Tap, so I thought I would give it a try. Described by many Yelpers as the "Chipotle" for Asian food, I approached with caution. You choose your starch, protein, sauce and then vegetables. The menu is simple, including only rice bowls, salad bowls, and steamed buns, but all custom ordered. I got the brown rice, chicken satay and braised beef 1/2 & 1/2 with spiced corn, yellow tomato and pickled cucumbers and red onions. It was tasty but not a huge portion. the food looked a bit shallow in the bowl. I could have had more. I will say that the five spiced braised beef was fantastic - it was clearly the unique stand out of the meal. Overall the food was good but I would like to see a little more of it in the bowl. I am down for anything create-your-own, so if you throw in some steamed buns, I'm there! Their rice and noodle bowls also looked really good but you can't make customized steamed buns at many other places. You can choose 3 different meats, so I chose the braised beef, teriyaki meatball, and steak. You can pick as many toppings as you like...mango slaw, Asian style pico de gallo, and cucumber red onion for me. Then finally, choose a sauce. I'm not a fan of peanut or curry sauces so I chose the fish sauce which was perfectly light and refreshing. I thought they would put the salad/toppings on my steamed buns but I'm glad that they didn't. That allowed me to control how much I put on each one, plus I get to eat the leftovers after I finish my meal! The only downside was probably the price. The food was great but I don't think the steamed bun plate was worth $9. I would price it closer to $7-8 and would pay $9 for the rice or noodle bowls since you get much more. read more

I've been going here for years. Their bowls are good but the service is the worst! The same lady that owns the place sees that I go there often but makes no customer service friendly effort at all. Their meat portions are very little and charge extra if you want an average size portion for what you pay for. Last time I was there I brought my mom. The guy that was serving us was a trainee and being watched like a hawk by the owner. His portions were so little, barely gave us any sauce for the rice and chicken that we ordered. My mom was very disappointed in that place as her first time trying it. She won't go back there again. I was excited because I wanted her to enjoy it. Food is organic with a wide range of mix and match options: rice or salad bowl; from tangy, spicy to creamy sauces/vinaigrette; chicken, beef, or tofu; and countless veggies! My favorite is the salad bowl with rice noodles (the best part is they give you half-and-half), half peanut sauce and half red curry sauce, braised beef, and ALL the veggies except jalapeños (I have a spice threshold). I really dislike onions and don't offer any sides that doesn't have onions except for lettuce and bean sprouts. The sauce is also very bland. I can't say much for the customer service because there wasn't any. I didn't feel welcomed nor thanked. This place was a waste of my time, money and calorie intake. I ordered the standard bowl with all the sides and it's normally a great size but today it was so small. I was shocked because it normally fills the bowl and today it was barely at the halfway mark. Super fresh and delicious with great customer service! Today was my first time here and right as I walked in the door the employees were so welcoming! As I was ordering, the employee who was serving me gave me great suggestions and was super accommodating. So A+ for service in my book. I decided on the rice noodle bowl with tofu and teriyaki sauce with lettuce/kale, peanuts, and fried crisps. It was probably one of the best Asain-style bowls I've had. Everything tasted freshly made and all the ingredients were very flavorful! The tofu in particular is very well marinated and cooked so even if you're not vegetarian or vegan I'd highly recommend it! (Although I do wish they gave me more!) TAP had other vegan-friendly options and menu-markings which I definitely appreciated! Food is okay the ambience is very chill. Ac blows nice and cold but the service needs a little work. Feel free to ask for all the extras you want but you will be charged extra and honestly I do not mind being charged at all especially if I want more than just the serving they're allowed to give, which is why I stated if it's extra it's not a problem but even after you say it's ok to be charged extra you get an extra side of attitude as if the workers are paying for the extras themselves. As the years have gone by, the portions get smaller and the price goes up. Today I ordered a kids size bowl and was given 5 tiny tiny 1/4"sized half cubes of chicken when they used to give a regular scoop. The entire bowl was only 1/3 full. Nicole was very kind and helpful in explaining how the menu worked and her patience was second to none. She even went as far as go outside to track me down because I left my card inside! The quality of the food is amazing and the portions were more than enough for me, which is rare for food places nowadays. I got the curry chicken with the base of rice and glass noodles and then some teriyaki sauce and it more than satisfied my craving. As someone who is picky with my chicken, I can say with confidence this is some good quality lean chicken and I ate everything. For the price you pay, I'd say you get a justified amount, if not a little more. Nice little spot in Burbank. It's in a big plaza shared with starbucks, sprouts, etc. so parking is not an issue. Inside is a little small-- so probably not the new spot for groups. They have one main rectangle table with some bar style seats. Maybe about 12-15 seats total? Then just 5-6 bar style seats facing the window and a couple of small tables at the store front. It was fine for me because it was just my fiancé and I. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm and it was not busy at all. We were greeted immediately upon entering. The way you order is kind of like at Chipotle. You tell them if you want steamed buns, a bowl, etc. and then the kind of base you want. Their menu is straight forward.. just follow the simple steps. I got the steamed buns. You can get a different protein for each one so I ordered chicken satay, teriyaki meatball and tofu with peanut sauce drizzled on top. Overall, amazing! It also comes with a side of salad which I got with fish sauce on top.. highly recommend! The buns are very filling.. given this was my first meal of the day I had a big appetite going in, however I did not even finish 2 of the buns. I ended up just eating the protein. Lol.
