    #13 burrito

It's cheap and delicious. We were craving tacos and even though there are several places in Alameda, this was our pick. Free chips and salsa and a refill on chips to pick up the meat from the tacos that overflowed. I loved my bean and cheese burrito. Where else in bougie Bay Area can you get a #13 burrito and drink for $7.50? Here! Two tacos same price. It's clean and the service is friendly. I'll be back.

stopped by here for some tacos. Ordered the carne asada tacos, fish tacos and the chicken salad. The carne asada tacos were demolished by the family. I highly enjoyed the fish tacos. The chicken salad was pretty good with nice chunks of avocados throughout the salad, just wished there were more pico de gallo in the salad. Very affordable definitely be back.

I like this place and come here quite often. The menu is definitely tailored to the suburban American palate, with options like burritos, carne molida tacos, and taco salads, and the meat choices are pretty basic--except for lengua, which is a nice touch. But hey, this is Alameda, and that's to be expected. What keeps me coming back is the consistency. It's not top-tier Mexican food, but it's pretty good, and sometimes that's exactly what you want. The flavors are solid, the portions are generous, and it's one of my favorite spots to grab a taco or burrito when I don't feel like crossing a bridge into Oakland. If you're looking for something reliably tasty and convenient, Taqueria Viva Mexico is a great choice. The people here are always friendly and quick, the place is clean, and the prices are reasonable, which makes it an easy go-to spot. My daughter loved the Flamin' Hot Cheeto burrito--I'll have to take her word on it, but if you're into that, try it.

Wow, I never thought I'd find bad Mexican food in the Bay Area but here we are... I have come to this taqueria before, pre-pandemic. The food was decent enough and in walking distance to my place at the time. Today I stopped in for a Taco Salad before the matinee movie next door. What was brought to me was straight up mind boggling. Chopped romaine, some carne asada, pico de gallo, Mexican cheese shreds and a few slices of a small avocado. All for the amazing price of $15! (Sarcasm.) No beans, no rice, no guacamole, no sour cream, NO FRIED FLOUR TORTILLA! No dressing either which if they were going for a traditional "salad" this meal wouldn't get more than two stars from me. When I asked if this normally came without the fixings they simply replied, "The Taco Salad only comes with avocado." Huh? In terms of taste, it had a sour and rancid taste from what was probably an old lime spritz on top of the "salad." The tortilla chips were stale and tasted of oldness, sort of like an old bag of chips left open for a couple of days. The carne asada was dry and lacking flavor. Honestly I almost walked away after a couple of bites, but I hate to waste food. I finished what I can, avoiding the stale chips and pieces of lettuce tasting of old lime. Geez, I can't get over how lack luster this meal was especially for the price. I should have just went to La Penca Azul down the street for a proper Taco Salad bowl, better service and environment, for a couple dollars more. Lesson learned!

We came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. We ordered at the counter. There were a couple of other people ahead of us, but we didn't wait long. The guy behind the counter was very friendly. We ordered the 2 fish taco plate and another fish and shrimp taco. They gave us a number and we sat by the window. We didn't wait long for the food. I love that they were served in a fish-shaped dish. It was a nice touch. The tacos were huge. The fish tacos are so tasty and the tortilla didn't break apart. There's nothing worse than a taco tortilla falling apart and you can't pick it up. But this one held it together 'til the last bite. The shrimp on the tacos were perfectly cooked and so, so good. The rice and beans were pretty amazing, too. This restaurant is now our go to for fish tacos! The atmosphere is festive and the staff are super friendly. There's always a line here, but it's a sign that it's popular and the food is great.

Staff and Service: - This is more of a fast food type restaurant where you order your meal and pay at the cashier, and they bring your food out to you - The person who brought our food originally asked the person who I was with if they spoke Spanish. He said no. When she came back with our food, she stared at him pretty intensely while putting the plates on our table (little uncomfortable) Food and Drinks: - Horchata: filled to the brim (thank you), the horchata was decent (not the best I've ever had, but certainly delicious) - #8: ordered a fish taco and a carne asada taco for my two tacos in this plate (also comes with rice and refried beans). The fish taco was pretty tasty (was grilled, not battered and fried). Good flavor and a good size. I didn't end up finishing the carne asada taco due to lack of flavor and fatty pieces of meat. The two tortillas with this taco were also soaked in grease of sorts, so the flavor was kind of wonky - Quesadilla: standard quesadilla - could have used a side of guac, salsa, etc. like you sometimes see at other restaurants Miscellaneous: - Bathroom is available in the back left of the restaurant - Tables and counter seats by the window available - Parking is street parking or via the parking garage next to Cinema Grill

A hidden gem sort of to me. This is located right next to the alameda cineplex. I was craving steak fries at the time but too tired to drive to my usual taco truck in Oakland. This spot is always popping with people and you know it's good when lots of people lines up for it. The restaurant is fairly large size, there were tables, chairs and window bar seatings available. The menu is right at the register in large prints. The menu is very extensive and had a lot of special weekday deals. WHAT I ORDERED Quesabirria tacos with consume n drink deal Chicken tacos Steak fries I was impressed by how fast it took to make my order. I probably waited for less than 10min. They also had a long line of ppl ordering. I got mine to go and by the time I got home to try the food, it's still warm but the quesabirria tacos got soggy real fast. Everything tastes very good and fresh except quesabirria. Next time I know to dine in if I order again. The steak fries were very impressive. It's very minimal toppings and it's very healthy with queso, onions and minced beef on top. It's a small size steak fries, I know you can probably ask for a larger size. Highly recommend trying it out. There's a reason there's a long line there at nights.

Enchiladas (beef & chicken), with rice and refried beans
    Steve D.

I stopped by and got lunch the other day, and mainly I wanted to try the fish and shrimp tacos. I didn't feel right just ordering two tacos, so....I added an enchiladas combo too! This way, no one can say I based my review on two tacos! So for lunch, I picked up my takeout order of: - Enchiladas Combo (1 Beef, 1 Chicken), with rice and refried beans - Baja Fish Taco - Shrimp Taco My order was ready on time, and service was friendly. Enchiladas Combo, Grade(4/5): Very tasty beef and chicken enchiladas. Fresh rice and creamy refried beans. Shrimp Taco, Grade (4/5): Taco is loaded with shrimp, lettuce, Pico de Gallo and Salsa. Actually, it looked like a pile of lettuce when I opened the box. That's ok, I took some off to reveal plump shrimps. Nice price at under $5. Fish Taco, Grade (4/5): fried fish tacos. Slightly overcooked, but still tasty. Menu says: "Tilapia fish, Lettuce, Pico de Gallo, Salsa." It's pretty good, and it's under $5 each. Other items of the menu include: breakfast, lunch, dinner, combo plates, daily specials, soup, desserts and drinks. Located near Central Ave x Park St, next to the Alameda Theatre

I came here on a hot Sunday afternoon. It was a nice local place in Alameda, friendly service and relatively quick. I ordered the shrimp taco salad, which was pretty good. I'd come here again and try something else, seems like a semi-popular place. They had indoor and outdoor seating available.

The seasoning on both were great, the tortilla was a bit on the crunchy or thick side but I liked it bc it didn't get soggy while I was eating. The process is easy, customers order at the window, pay, and wait outside where there are a couple tables to sit at while waiting for their orders. The main problem I found was the time it took to make a couple burritos. There were no customers in front of me and it took nearly thirty minutes to make two burritos. The other thing I noticed is the add ons really raised the price. The guacamole, etc are all extra charges on the the super burrito which in my eye makes no sense. Either it's a super or regular. Not super needing to have a ton of add ons to make it a super. But how was the burrito? Overall I thought the taste was good. Burrito was on the small side. But the ingredients seemed to be solid, and blended together nicely. Decent quality but for the price and wait time, I won't be rushing back.

From the outside, it looks like a straightforward taco truck, but wow was I surprised. I ordered the Carnitas Super Taco, which came loaded with lettuce, cheese, cilantro, onions, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. My only complaint? You only get one taco per order because I definitely could've eaten another. The Kid ordered the Carne Asada Super Taco and before we even pulled away, she was asking for a second one. That's usually a pretty good sign. We also tried the horchata and jamaica, and both were delicious. The horchata was creamy and flavorful, while the jamaica was refreshing and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was how quickly they got the food out, especially considering how popular this spot seems to be. There was a constant flow of customers when I went during non-peak dining hours, so I'd assume that they have lines during other times. The steak fries were a bit bland with too much sour cream and less of everything else making the fries a bit soggy. The sauces did a lot of the heavy lifting to make this dish a bit more enjoyable.
