One of my most favorite Thai restaurants in town. Flavor is as authentic as you could get out of Thai places in Southbay that I have tried. BBQ duck noodle soup was great, a little on the mild side. Best duck noodle soup in South Bay that comes closest to what I had in Thailand.

I have made it a challenge to eat at every Thai place within 100 miles of my house, so far I've knocked out close to 50 in the past 2-3 months. That being said out of all the places I've been too, Tara Thai has by far the best tom yum soup I've ever had. Its more spicy and has a ton more flavor than I was expecting. The lad na moo I had (if you dont know it's wide rice noodles in a thick Thai gravy with broccoli) was not overly garlicy - something many resteraunts mess up on a lot - and also had a wonderful smokey flavor from the stir fried noodles. It's mango season right now so you know I had to get mango with sticky rice which also deserves praise, it even came with its own super cute fork! Overall, if You're in the South bay and need an awesome spot that's not crowded and serves up some really good thai, definitely put Tara Thai high on your list. read more

BEWARE if you are using a GROUPON to try this restaurant. They purposely serve smaller tasting menu size portions when you use a Groupon, even though you are paying full price for Their A La Carte entrees. This is the only Thai place where the rice isn't included with the entree no they bring you a tiny bowl of it. It's terrible. Don't show them the Groupon until after you receive your food to avoid them doing this. Otherwise, report them to Groupon. I also got terrible stomach cramps on my way home after eating the few bites of chicken they served me. Do yourself a favor and stay away and try the many other options of other Tha places in the beach areas. read more

This place is my favorite thai restaurant in the south bay. I love the orange chicken, pad see ew, and the fried rices (green curry especially). The spring rolls are great too! The service here is fast, and efficient. I keep coming back and find myself craving the food. Yum! read more

I was so excited to try this with my daughter as she's a Thai fan but we were both disappointed for a few reasons: 1) Very average as compared to other local Thai restaurants. 2) I purchased the "deal" on yelp....$50 certificate towards dining for only $25. Our bill came to $40 and when I presented the cert. to our server, she said "no credit or change back, you use all the cert" Huh? Not too thrilled about this as I didn't see this on the cert. or advertised when I purchased the cert. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. Lesson learned. read more

This is a solid Thai restaurant that serves (by serve I mean deliver to my doorstep) great Thai curry dishes. I order their panang curry frequently enough to say it's always been super hot, fresh, and tasty. I've never actually been to this place (thanks grubhub!) but can offer that the delivery is good, prices reasonable, and food delicious. read more

We won't be coming back here. The best part about our experience at Tara Thai was that the "drinks waitress" was friendly and prompt and provided good service. The water also tasted good. Other than that, the pad thai was bland and the papaya salad had no papaya in it. Portion sizes also seemed smaller than other Thai restaurants. Also, though there were only 2-3 booths in the restaurant that were occupied when we arrived, the "food waitress" somehow took 5-10 minutes to get to our table (the "drinks waitress" said she couldn't take our food order). I was just about to get up to go get her, but then she caught my eye and finally came over. There are better Thai places in the South Bay. read more

I just ordered food from this place pineapple Fried rice and crying tiger beef. The food isn't worth the price at all! My beef wasn't thinly sliced or grilled. The food honestly didn't taste at all like Thai food , I am half Thai so I know the taste and was more like Chinese take out. I'm disappointed I spent 30 bucks on two dishes that I could have got for half the price for the quality of the food I was starving before I got the food and now I've lost my appetite. I literally got two shrimp and a bunch of onions in the fried rice. I will show a pic to better explain the poor quality of food I received. I'll start by saying I wouldn't give 5 stars if anything had been "not perfect". But during the 3 times I've dined here in the last 3 months, it's been perfect. I spent 2 weeks in Phuket within the last 2 2 1/2 years, eat Thai food ALOT. So I feel I'm a good judge. The service was the first bonus. Waitress Air offered extra special service, showing how the Thai eat certain dishes and sharing other cultural details. Owner Shawna is smiling 100% of the time and asked how everything was, on a few occasions, at each visit. While the Panang Curry was incredible, the Thai Noodles entree with Chicken was today's lunch choice - and the best I've ever had - even better than what I ate in Phuket. The noodles were the thinnest, lightest I've ever experienced. And I asked for mushrooms instead of carrots - and they added lots of fresh mushrooms. While I wanted to keep eating even after I was full, I did take half of it home. Tough location just north of Torrance Blvd and PCH, but parking lot is fairly large and there's underground parking, which many don't realize is available. I can't wait to return to ask Air and/or Shawna what new dish they suggest. I'll definitely enjoy another delicious dining experience! read more

This restaurant has excellent food and service! My husband and I came here for dinner and were seated right away. We ordered Thai iced teas, beef jerky, duck salad, green curry fried rice, and pla rad prik (deep fried whole pompano). Everything came out hot and fresh and delicious! The waitress is very friendly and great at suggesting the popular dishes there. The service was amazing; they were quick and attentive if we needed anything. I like that the menu has a big variety. Tara Thai is the best Thai in the area. I have been eating here for ten years, and have had over 300 orders here. Compared to all the other Thai in the area Tara is stellar. The service is exceptional and very speedy. I have had parties here to take out and love this restaurant. There have only been three times out of my at least 300 orders when the food was just "ok". Excellent Thai food! I was surprised to find such an authentic Thai restaurant in Redondo Beach. One of the owners is from northern Thailand, and the quality of Northern Thai cuisine shows. This restaurant was such a huge pleasure for Christmas Eve. The papaya salad was some of the best I've had in the United States, and we also loved the larb. Horrible experience. Ordered the tara noodles and the green curry fried rice off eat street. Tara noodles came with dry noodles, a separate cup with the yellow curry and tofu, and a plastic bag with a lemon cilantro and onions. So glad I get to pay to make my own food. Ordered delivery via Eat24. I told them not to put any egg, tofu or bean curd in my pad thai. Guess what showed up? A big, heaping helping of fried tofu. I don't mind picking it out, but it's kind of uncool when you specifically ask them not to include it. Also, on Eat24 they didn't let you choose a protein (doesn't it normally come with chicken?), and I ended up with some pretty bland pad thai. Not ordering again. read more

Very average. Tried the delivery option. Was one and half hours between ordering and delivery so be prepared to wait. Ordered red Thai curry which was like watery soup and about five strips of chicken. Was full of vegetables and hardly any chicken. Shrimp fried rice was just ok. Won't go back. January 2016 Updated review. We have ordered take out from here twice in less than a week. We had the red curry chicken again (yum!), orange chicken, and spicy fried rice. Everything has been superb + great portions (I always have leftovers for lunch). Tastes super fresh. Took the whole family and ordered lots of dishes. Great food! The SaTea salad was amazing. Great peanut dressing. The Crying Tiger beef was delicious, everyone at the table loved it.
