    Crème Brûlée French Toast, Harmony
    Rebecca N.

This place was absolutely amazing! Was a bit tough choosing what to get because they have so many great options, especially the sweet things. Ended up choosing the crème brulee French toast & Harmony omelette, and both were delicious. The omelette was very well done - not too oily, lots of healthy mix ins, and very tasty. The bread it came with was soft and yummy, and I enjoyed the side salad dressing & tomatoes a lot. The French toast was a really nice sweet treat. I would definitely come back to try more on the menu... perhaps the ube pancakes! The restaurant itself is very cute and nicely decorated. Very popular, even on weekday mornings.

Food - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Chicken and Croffle are all the hype! Crispy and fluffy croffle. Tender, juicy, well-seasoned chicken. The sauce that came with the plate I forget what it was called but it added a depth of flavor that made this more than just some other 'chicken and waffle' dish. I had a bite of the crab cake benedict and I was very happy with the taste. Would definitely come back. This is where the old Johnny's First Toast was (I think) so they did a great job at renovating and making the inside look very modern and IG-worthy for aesthetic pics.

Basil Ribeye Bliss: A Flavor-Packed Thai Fusion Experience Worth the Hype Taste & Glory in San Mateo is an absolute gem for Thai fusion, delivering both incredible food and top-notch customer service. I recently came here with my family and we ordered the basil ribeye, crispy spicy chicken special, tom yum scramble, and grilled chicken sandwich. Every single dish was packed with flavor and beautifully executed, but the basil ribeye truly stole the show. It's a must-try -- perfectly cooked, rich, and bursting with bold, savory flavors that keep you coming back for more. The rest of the dishes were just as impressive, each offering a unique twist that highlights the creativity of their menu. You can really tell they put thought into both the flavors and presentation. Service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The ambience adds another layer to the experience! It has a lively, energetic vibe that makes it perfect for a fun brunch outing, yet still feels intimate and cozy enough for a romantic date. One thing to note: this place gets busy, especially on weekends. Come early and be prepared for a wait, but trust me, it is WELL worth it. Highly recommend Taste & Glory if you're looking for something flavorful, unique, and consistently delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Pretty tasty food, servise was really good we had constant re fill on our waters and servers came to ask how everything was tasting pretty often. Oh and our food was served pretty fast too. Definitely will be back!

Taste and Glory is one of those brunch spots that lives up to the hype. The menu puts a creative Asian fusion twist on classic breakfast favorites, and the result is both unique and incredibly satisfying. Every dish looked as good as it tasted. The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully executed without feeling overdone. You can tell the kitchen pays attention to the details, from the beautifully plated entrées to the perfectly cooked eggs and crispy, well-seasoned sides. The fusion elements add just enough creativity while still letting the comfort of brunch shine through. The drinks were equally impressive, especially the specialty lattes and refreshing house beverages that paired perfectly with the meal. It's the kind of place where you'll find yourself eyeing neighboring tables and already planning what to order on your next visit. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Even with a busy dining room, the staff kept everything running smoothly and made sure guests felt taken care of.

Came on a Friday afternoon. Waited 5-10 min. Not long. Ordering was quick. Got their chicken croffle, Tom yum scramble and an ube latte Honestly left a tad disappointed. For the chicken croffle. You do lose all the flakiness of the croissant. The chicken was good. The Tom yum scramble. The Tom yum sauce doesn't work well with the. Other flavors. Wish the croissant was toasted. The ube latte was good. Not too sweet.

We saw that Taste & Glory had a lot of hype and mentions of long lines, but we thankfully got lucky one day and got in with 0 wait. Cute and quaint cafe in San Mateo with unique offerings. The thai tea french toast immediately caught my eye because I love thai tea and anything thai flavored in general. While it is presented beautifully, the flavor itself fell flat for me. Thai tea is known to have bold flavor and a strong tea taste. This was really lacking that. My partner got the chicken croffle and he loved it. I tried it and it is definitely something I'd order too! Chicken was nice and crispy and the croffles weren't dry or soggy, but the perfect in between. We liked that it came with both a savory sauce and syrup. I'd definitely return to try other things sometime.

Delicious brunch spot! I recommend getting there as early as possible since the wait can get pretty long. We went on a weekend and were able to get seated right at opening. We tried two dishes and both were excellent: -Tom yum scramble: The tom yum flavor really came through and was present in every bite of the eggs. -Thai tea french toast: Great flavor overall. I liked that the thai tea sauce was served on the side so you can adjust the sweetness to your preference. I do wish the french toast had been a bit fluffier but overall still good. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for brunch with unique and flavorful dishes!

Blue Butterfly & Iced Biscoff Latte
    Kyla Patricia A.

We walked in on a Saturday - right before the line got super long - and waited for 10 minutes. Staff greeted us and took our orders right away. The tables were really close together so it was a bit harder to maneuver around. It was easy for someone to bump into the table when passing by. For drinks we got the blue butterfly - which is on the sweeter side. We also got the iced biscoff latte but a bit disappointing. It wasn't sweet enough and you couldn't really taste the coffee. We really enjoyed our dishes - carbonara udon, crispy honey chicken Benedict and the ube pancakes. The carbonara udon was on par with the one we had in Japan. The chicken Benedict was full of flavor and the eggs were cooked to perfection. I've had better ube pancakes in the peninsula but they still tasted good!

    Erika C.

The food is rounded up to four stars. I liked the carbonara udon. I don't think an omelette here though for example would be worth braving the line (yes, even on a weekday there was a line) and parking situation. If you see no line and you find a parking spot, it's a cute brunch place; otherwise it's not worth it because you do feel a bit rushed even if you get in (not from staff necessarily but just seeing the crowd). There are more brunch options downtown now though (Johnnys, whispers) so maybe things eased up.

One of the better brunch places I've had in awhile. Immediately we noticed that there's a line, and luckily the wait was not long but they do require the entire party to be there to be seated. We had the chicken croffle and the tom yum croissant. I liked the chicken croffle with how big the fried chicken is, and the sauce it comes with complements the flavors well. The chicken itself was a little bit dry in the middle. The tom yun croissant is very creative, never had anything like it before. I like that there's a lot of crab provided in the croissant. It can get heavy after awhile with the sauce. Overall I had a good experience here, good service despite being so busy most of the time. I would come again!

I've driven by this place multiple times, saw the lines outside, and had really high hopes. Unfortunately, after finally trying it, I found it completely overrated. The Good: Presentation & Vibes: The food looks amazing. The portions are generous, and the dishes come beautifully plated with toast, fresh fruits, and great presentation. If you're here strictly to take photos for social media, you'll love it. Carbonara Udon: This was the standout dish of the meal--flavorful, well-made, and we cleaned the entire plate. The Bad: Spicy Fried Chicken Plate: Extremely dry and virtually tasteless. Dungeness Crab Salad: You couldn't taste any fresh crab--just pure saltiness. I actually had to use ketchup just to eat it. The Service: Beyond the food, the service was frustrating. The staff were running around and chatting with each other, but completely forgot our two drinks until long after all of our food had already arrived. When we brought it to their attention, we got a totally indifferent "whatever" attitude--like forgetting items or brushing off customers is just standard practice for them. Final Thoughts: I went on a Monday, so thankfully there was no wait. I definitely wouldn't recommend waiting in a weekend line for this. To me, a great restaurant needs good taste and attentive service in addition to nice plating. I won't be coming back or recommending this spot for actual food lovers, but if you just want pretty photos for social media, it serves its purpose.

Great first experience! Very cute place with great food. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Good came out pretty quick too. I ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast and O.M.G it was SO good. It legitimately tastes like crème brûlée. Even the top of the French toast was crunchy and sugary. I also ordered the iced Ube which was so tasty! Not too sweet and it had chunks of Ube in it. Yummy!! I left very happy and satisfied. Definitely look forward to coming back.

Keema Curry $23: I liked this a lot, fan of curry. However, this wasn't spectacular curry. Tasted as good as I can make it at home, but I'm not a great cook, just follow the instructions on the box. I liked the flavor but bummed that I paid that much for it, haha. I was very confused it tasted as such. Vietnamese Papaya Salad $12: Another of my favorites dishes, but boyyyy, this missed the mark. It was so strangely bitter. Again, the ingredients seemed quite fresh, but the sauce (which makes the whole dish) did not taste good. I would avoid. One note I will say is that the ingredients do seem fresh. I guess it could be considered clean eating? But over all, the visit was disappointing unfortunately.

The ambiance is a bit similar to a fast casual restaurant than that of a high end course meal and the service aligns with that. Bathrooms are in a bit of a sorry state and chairs are peeling at the edges. Service is a bit clumsy and rushed. No one asks for any food restrictions before the meal and it isn't asked when reservations are being made, so you'll have to actively speak up if you need this addressed. Dishes are only fully explained at the bar, if you sit at the standard tables you'll get a very basic dish explanation. The food is mostly Chinese Japanese fusion and some dishes knock it out of the park, like the chawanmushi which is fused with flavors of Chinese egg drop soup. Some really drop the ball, like the scallion noodles which were soggy and overly greasy, the oil was not properly infused with the green onion and so you just got mushy soggy plain oil flavored noodles. The course lacked consistency. Some dishes were incredible, some average, and some downright bad. There's a lack of consistency in the prep also, there were crab shells in the orange crab dish, there was a bad bitter uni in one of the chawanmushi, etc. I think the ambiance, service, and course doesn't add up to the $150 price tag. There's definitely potential but the lack of effort does affect the overall experience.

After our yummy lunch, we were given a complimentary order of malasadas (yum!) and then Mom got a special ice cream cup with a huge sparkler candle and the entire restaurant sang to her! But wait, there's more! Noelani's was celebrating their 13th anniversary today, so we got free live musical entertainment (normally it's only on Friday and Saturday nights) by the talented Rick Rasay. Who then proceeded to serenade Mom by changing the words to one of the songs he sang! She felt so special! AND finally, as part of their 13th anniversary, Noelani's was giving out coupons to their paying customers for free shave ice from Paradise Shave Ice who put a pop-up outside their restaurant. So yummy! And they were so super nice too - will definitely keep them in mind for any shave ice catering needs! We don't visit this restaurant as we're down in the South Bay, but we definitely plan to visit them more often! Thanks for making my mom's day so wonderful! This was an especially bittersweet birthday, as it was the first one without my dad, but somehow I think he was smiling down at us and blessing us today!

Even though it wasn't completely packed, I was so glad I made a reservation in advance! Most of the individual tables were taken, with mainly communal seating left, so having our spot locked in made the experience super smooth. We had our toddler with us, and since she asked for noodles, we ordered the Drunken Noodles and requested them non-spicy. It still had a tiny kick that was a bit much for her, but it was absolutely perfect for my husband and me! To make sure she was fed, we ordered the Pad Thai next--and she completely loved it! The rest of our meal was fantastic. The spicy eggplant had a great flavor without being overly hot, and the pork belly was amazingly crispy and rich. We had to rush home, so we missed out on dessert this time, but we'll definitely be back soon!

A friend of mine has recommended Kan Kiin a few times, so I was really excited to be in the…read moreneighborhood and finally be able to try it! It was Saturday midday and the area was quite busy, but we were able to find street parking a few blocks away. Tip: if you park on the street, beware of 1 hr parking signs on certain sections of the street! We waited just under 10 minutes to get in because we were a small party and could immediately see how lively it was inside. I really liked the decor. It felt homey, but still sleek and modern, very understated in a good way with natural tones. It was totally my kind of restaurant. Again it was quite busy inside, and I think that may be why service was just okay. When we sat down, our table had two empty water glasses, but no water. I looked at tables next to us and realized they all had bottles of water, and one table had two, so I wondered if they took ours. In any case, the waiter must have missed it when we were seated and given menus, so it took a bit for us to wave someone down for water. We also ended up needing another napkin later, and it was a bit hard to catch the eye of anyone to ask for more as they hustled by. Looking at the menu, everything looked good, so we tried a few things: crab and sweet corn benedict, pork belly benedict, and matcha pancakes. And that's where we were let down a little more. Most of our food came out cold or lukewarm. For the benedicts, I hypothesized it might have been because they were made with fresh hollandaise, but my friend told me hollandaise can be made hot, so that theory went out the window. For the pancakes, I am not really sure what happened. Other than that, my friend's pork belly was very chewy and hard to cut. Overall, though everything was presented well and looked great, the execution was just not there. Still, I had a nice chat with another customer who ordered the porridge and really enjoyed it, so I know they are doing other things well on the menu, it was just not our day I guess. All that said, we had an okay experience, but I don't know if it's enough to warrant a repeat visit if not for a specific occasion.
