I ate lunch here yesterday. I like the hot Mongolian mixture of food grilled option. Sushi option is okay but can be improved. In general, for a buffet, the price at Tasty Buffet is pretty good with a lot of food to eat comparing to a restaurant. A minimum of 3 plates is a must at any buffet and maintaining a 6-pack abdominal can be a challenge, so you have to determine the maximum plates for yourselves. read more

I had never been to the buffet that was in this building prior to Tasty moving in so I can't comment on whether any remodeling had been done but I didn't find the current decor to be that bad. The seat cushions weren't new but they were free of holes and stains on the booths. The tables and chairs appeared new or at least in very good repair. The walls and floors were clean and the atmosphere was comfortable. The food wasn't bad. Huge selection including a few non Chinese fare such as tostadas and fried chicken. Nothing I ate was bad, nothing exceptional but totally edible. The Mongolian BBQ was pretty good but if that's what you're after the other place in Yuba is better. This is not some cutting edge Chinese cuisine. What this place is however is comfortably well known Chinese food offerings. The building is clean and well lit. The staff is friendly and quick to clear dirty dishes. The food is fresh and tasty. My only complaint was that on the Sunday afternoon that we went the Mongolian BBQ Station is backed up beyond belief, they need more than one guy back there. Do not be deceived by the teensy storefront, the dining area is spacious and it is easy to navigate the buffet. read more

Food is terrible their chow mein is bland and frankly tasteless. Place has gone downhill since new management. Will NEVER eat at this buffet again. Limited vegan/vegetarian options although there was some. Service was actually not too bad. If you like good customer service but terrible food you should definitely stop by. Good for a quick cheap eat. Parking wasn't too tricky since the place is usually empty in afternoons. They charge you for everything, even if you leave food on your plate! Bathrooms were unsanitary! This place has "Definitely" gone DOWN HILL from when they moved to this Gray Ave location from where they used to be located in the parking lot area of the Yuba City Mall... If you are the owners and you're reading this YOU should be ashamed!!!! I went there recently with my grandson and I just couldn't believe how bad it was. And they expect you to pay for this garbage. Everything tasted horrible I had to spit out a lot of the food because I was afraid to get sick. Everything was cold nothing was refilled it was horrible couldn't believe it, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The bathrooms are the most disgusting I've ever seen anywhere & the entire place is absolutely filthy!!!! Whoever owns this restaurant needs to find a different business to go in because they obviously have no common sense or decency in what they are serving!!!! This place deserves zero Stars! My family regularly ate at the old location, ate pretty regularly at the new location but lately the food has been cold and/or funny tasting. The last time I went there it was around 6:00 in the evening and almost everything was empty or old (cold). It appeared to be what was left over from lunch menu. We have been going to this restaurant for about twelve years now. Generally, the food has been okay - there have only been a few times when the food has been below standard. Since the restaurant moved to its new Gray Ave. location, their service, food quality and cleanliness has become much, much worse. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a stale, damp odor. On this particular occasion, most of the food was cold and many of the food stations had not been replenished. The shrimp tasted of ammonia, almost as if the shrimp had been cooked beside cleaning fluid. The crab, when a cook refilled the station, came out cold. It was hard to find anything that was edible. At the Mongolian station, the sauces had not been refilled and the chili paste looked like it had been sitting there for weeks. The floors are grimy and dirty and the bathrooms are a disgrace. The tables also needed a good clean. I complained about the shrimp to the manager, but he did not apologize. He only insisted that I try the shrimp from the next lot (which did not turn out to be any better). Overall, this restaurant has only got worse since it moved. Do not waste your money by eating there. We will certainly not be going back. read more

So we went for dinner and it was pretty packed in there. They tried to sit us in the private room and I told them to move us because that room felt like a sauna. When I asked to be moved the waiter said I'll just turn ac on. I said um you have plenty of tables here and I would like to sit here. So we were able to sit at a different table. So the problem here is when we got our receipt it look pretty off. They were charging us a lot in taxes. So we took out our calculator and did the calculations and sure enough they were so off. When it was time to pay we told the cashier he denied it was wrong so we had him take out his calculator and do all the calculations in front of us. We were right they were charging us $10 extra. All he said, "oh you're right sorry!" So people be aware and check your receipts. The food isn't bad but just the service needs to be worked on. read more

The chow mein, fried rice, shrimp mix veggie, egg flower soup, and orange chicken are my favorites. As a reboot of the old "Yuba Buffet," "Tasty Buffet" promotes a greater quality in food and services. Tasty Buffet keeps the same traditional style throughout the restaurant. The Food generally is not bad, at times you'll get some bad tasting food and oftentimes get better tasting food. But overall the food is solid and ok. The service is much quicker than it used to be, the waiter cleans, refills, and provides services when you need it, leaving the consumer satisfied. The verdict- Overall "Tasty Buffets" provides an alright tasting food and a great services for the entire family to enjoy. This restaurant reboot was an improvement compared to the old "Yuba Buffet." But there is definitely room for improvement to be made. read more

I used to come here a few years back when it was under different ownership, I thought I'd give it a try again. Arriving shortly after it opened we thought surely the food should be as fresh as it was going to be. I knew I wasn't going to be "blown away" because truthfully since moving here almost 20 years ago I have yet to find outstanding Chinese food like I'm used to. But I was prepared to have an open mind and be happy with pretty good. I have to say we were very, very disappointed; for just being opened about 15 minutes the food was tough, semi-cold, non-seasoned, tasteless and just all around awful. If they would just put more effort into seasoning the food, not overcooking it, and keeping the hot food hot, etc. they would do much better. We need good Asian restaurants in this area, especially a buffet since this is the only one left. Come on Tasty Buffet, put more effort into it and you might make it!!! read more

This is the former Taste Of China Super Buffet on Hwy 20 by the mall. I had eaten there many times, and found the food to be mediocre, but OK. I was excited to try their new place, but when I tried it last week I was totally disappointed. The food was the same, with lots of variety. The employees were friendly. But the inside of the restaurant seemed to be exactly the way it was when the Yuba Buffet was in that building. The same warn, and dirty carpet, and warn out seats in the booths. There appeared to me that there was no remodeling done at all. The only thing that was changed was the name. I was so disappointed that I won't be back. If I could give this place a zero I would. This place is disgusting. My husband and I went here for dinner and I watched the waiter drop a piece of ice, pick it up with his hands then put it back in the bucket of ice. The next waiter came in and made a drink with the same ice. After a few min another waiter was eating over the fortune cookies, putting his hands into his mouth then grabbing some cookies to give to some customers. Food was meh. The "sushi" was sad. The avocado on top was turning black and the others were falling apart on the tray. One of the buffet tables was completely empty our entire time there. Terrible Service! As me and my party were sitting down trying to enjoy our food, we nicely asked an employee for a refill and he rudely IGNORED us and pointed at our table for the watiress to help us and not him. After that as we were trying to eat that same employee kept STARING and SMIRKING at our table everytime he passed by. We went and let the owner know what was going on and all she kept saying was "i did not see it, i do not understand" The owner takes NO responsibilty over their own employee's unacceptable attitude towards guests. We offered to pay half price since the experience was horrible and the bus boy really tried to ARGUE with us at our dinner table. The Owner (wife) then kept on yelling at us as we were trying to explain was what going on and still she kept saying "i dont understand, you need to pay price or else i call cops" Me and my family have been going there for years and now I'll never go there again, The OWNERS are so careless and only care about money!
