Still a solid place to come especially for lunch. They are quick and the lunch specials are reasonable. We ordered a couple of lunch specials to share and a Dan Dan noodle as well. The hand shaven noodles were excellent and noodles had a great chewy texture to them. The chopped chicken was pretty flavorful and had a little nice kick to it. The Dan Dan noodles were a bit to saucy for me.

Amazing lunch special deal! I will say I think it's a bit expensive (plus you have to pay for rice) when you go outside lunch special hours..but for the lunch special, it's very worth it!! About $13-15 for an entree, side of rice/fried rice, egg roll and soup!! (BTW Soup is only for dine in and they don't let you take it to go..) My favorite lunch specials are the Chongqing Hot Chicken and Mandarin Chicken!

Just a reminder not to sleep on Tasty Corner. Service and ambiance are good but the food is AMAZING! The only problem I have is that when I go for lunch I want to order everything. Why can't I order everything and eat it all and then sleep in my booth???? That's not asking so much.

Let's go! I have been looking for a good Chinese spot for a long time and this one hit every craving I had. I got a photo of the General Tsao but not the chow mein but they both were top notch and kept me wanting more. New to this SW area but this will be a major go to for me. I will be trying many things in this menu! Place is pretty big too.

I stumbled upon this location by accident while trying to find parking for a nearby theater. Ultimately it ended up being a worthwhile accident! The staff inside are very considerate and friendly, and the food was fantastic. I was very surprised that it wasn't more crowded! The aesthetic was very casual and reminds me of just a corner diner, except here they serve amazing Schezuan food! I tried a number of items there, and they all packed huge flavor you'd expect from Schezuan food. My only complaint is that it is a bit heavier on the oily side so I wouldn't recommend this place for people on a diet or sensitive stomachs. Next time I'll probably order some lighter dishes to balance things out, but I'll definitely be back for the service and wonderful food!

Tried this place on a drizzly day and it hit the spot. I'm still shocked by how fast the service was; food landed on our table minutes after ordering! Loved the fish filet and hot and spicy gravy; the peppercorns were popping and the spice level was perfect. Lots of napa to soak up the sauce. Rice is not included. Less impressed however with the braised beef brisket noodle soup. Not the dark roasty broth I'm used to but still good. Overall a solid place to check out. Right by PSU campus too.

Have tried this place two more times since the last review. Service and food are spot on. Szechuan chicken and beef were cooked perfectly with lots of veggies and hot peppers. We both ate every morsel on our plates. No box's needed! Probably will see you next Friday. I'm not sure, but is hot tea extra?

First time here. I'm visiting Portland from San Francisco. My sister and her husband brought me here. It's her and her husband's fav spot, with good reason. Food is plentiful and flavorful, customer service is hospitable and good: ambience is clean and spacious

It was my second time here. I ordered the same thing the first time that was recommended to me by the cute handsome guy that was working that day as the host. He suggested the Szechuan chicken which is their most popular dish. I got spicy, and man was it spicy. Loved it. They give big portions, it will definitely fill you up! They charge extra for side of rice if you want. This second time I went in I also ordered their stir fried hot and spicy cabbage, it was delicious, again big serving. It's located on/near the PSU campus. The restaurant looks clean, and the service is great. I will be back again and again whenever I'm craving this style of food. Thank you! 10/10

Really wanted to love the food but it just wasn't meant to be. The restaurant itself is easy to find and its simple decor is nice. We dined here for dinner last Thursday. The service here is fast and friendly, from being seated right away to receiving food within minutes of ordering. We ordered chong qing hot chicken, pork w/wood fungus, and beef chow mein. All the dishes were unexpectedly really sweet which made it difficult to enjoy. I order the chong qing chicken at a lot of places and sweet is not a flavor profile common with this dish. We made the best of it by adding chili, salt and or soy sauce to our dishes to distract us from the sweetness. Based on the glowing Yelp reviews though, I'm thinking maybe the food here is adjusted to the local palate which is fine, just not a good fit for me personally.

Hot and sour soup tasty. Big portion. Loved hand cut noodles with shrimp and soup dumplings. The green beans were fabulous. Caution- hot pots are spicy. Beef was good. Delicious Mai tai. Good service. Fast turnaround. Clean restaurant.

My overall experience here was MID. Also the next day I had the WORST MSG hangover... that feeling just sucks. The soup was boiling hot when it arrived and that burned my tongue and I had to wait for it to cool. This place has won awards for being one of the best restaurants in PDX so I decided to come here. The vibe was meh, like a regular chinese restaurant type place. Food was 3 stars.

I come here every week since I am a student at PSU. The food is absolutely terrific and you can't beat the lunch special. You get an entree, side of rice, soup, and I always get tea, all for $14. Best prices for someone in college. I always read or touch up on homework while eating and I never feel rushed, despite it being very popular and filling up quick. So far I've had string bean beef, Mongolian chicken, eggplant in hot garlic sauce- all is great but beef chow mein is my favorite so far. Staff is very attentive and food comes out wicked quick. I will continue to visit every week until I finish my degree in 2 years

I really like the individual hot pot concept. You get to pick exactly what you want--vegetables, meat, seafood, noodles, and other ingredients--then choose your own soup base. The experience is a little like Mongolian barbecue because you select your own ingredients, but instead of grilling them, everything is cooked in your personal hot pot. The price is based on the weight of the ingredients you choose. It's also similar to traditional Chinese hot pot, except everyone gets their own pot instead of sharing one. I actually prefer this because everyone can enjoy a different soup base and customize their meal without having to compromise. I ordered the No. 6 spicy dry pot (without broth) and chose the mild spice level. It had a nice kick without being overwhelmingly spicy. My husband chose the tomato soup base, which had a rich, delicious flavor. He practically finished the entire bowl of broth and commented that it felt like such a healthy, comforting meal with all the vegetables he added. Overall, we had a great dining experience. The food was flavorful, the staff were friendly and attentive, and we loved the fun, customizable dining concept. We'll definitely be coming back and would happily recommend Big Hey Hot Pot to anyone looking for a delicious and unique hot pot experience.

We stopped in for lunch and were impressed by how quickly everything arrived. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and every dish was full of flavor. The walnut shrimp was outstanding. The shrimp were perfectly cooked with a light, crispy coating and covered in a creamy sauce that wasn't overly sweet. The candied walnuts added the perfect crunch, making every bite rich and satisfying without being overwhelming. I also ordered the lamb, and it was the highlight of the meal. The lamb was tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned, cooked with red onions that added sweetness and complemented the savory flavors perfectly. It's not every day you find a restaurant serving lamb this well, and I would happily order it again. We started with the hot and sour soup, which was comforting and packed with flavor. It had just the right balance of tanginess and spice, with plenty of ingredients in every spoonful. The steamed rice was cooked perfectly and paired well with both entrées. Everything arrived hot and fresh, and the meal never felt rushed despite how quickly it came out of the kitchen. One of the best parts of our visit was the value. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making this a fantastic place for lunch or dinner without spending a fortune. After looking through the menu, we realized there are so many other dishes we'd love to try. That's always a great sign--you leave already planning your next visit. Here is how the dishes fared: - Mapo Tofu: The sauce had a decent kick and nice chili oil sheen, but it was leaning a bit too heavy on starch and salt without much of that authentic, mouth-numbing Sichuan peppercorn depth (ma). The tofu texture was nice and soft, but overall the flavor profile felt a little flattened. - Crispy Spicy Chicken / Chongqing Chicken: Visually great and seasoned well with chili flakes and sesame seeds, but the chicken pieces were fried a bit too long, leaving them somewhat dry on the inside. A lighter batter and a punchier garlic/chili aromatic oil would make a world of difference here. Overall, it's an okay neighborhood option if you're craving a quick, filling meal, but it lacks the bold, vibrant spices you'd hope for from this style of cuisine.
