First time here. This restaurant is very close to Portland State and is located in the corner of 6th and Hall. Parking can be tricky during weekdays. It is not bad for weekends. We ordered beef hand shaven noodle and braised brisket noodle soup. The noodle soup serving size is pretty good. The shaven noodle was good but not super big portion. The worst customer service! Such rude staff member. I went during lunch to order takeout. The guy was like so annoyed with me. The restaurant was mostly empty. I picked up the folded menu upfront to make selection. I asked for eggplant with garlic sauce and want to add tofu, he is like how much tofu. I am like umm what do you mean? A serving? He is like 3$?4$? What does that even mean. So I was like fine because he was so angry at me I got flustered, I told him I will get schezuan tofu. On the printed menu it says $9.49 and when I went to pay it's $12... and I asked price difference and he shouted at me! Oh it's old menu you should look at the dine in menu for prices. Wtf? The food came out really fast hence a star. But the taste was very very mediocre. If you want better Chinese food that is actually spicy and tasty Duck House down the road is soooooo much better. read more

Gave Tasty Corner a try and was excited to see a vast menu full of spicy and other non-Americanized dishes. We tried 4 things - loved 2 of them, liked one, and struck out on one. The won ton soup was a disappointment. We got it without the noodles, just had the wontons, but the broth was lacking depth and the wontons were chewy and not good. That was a bummer to start our meal, but it turned around with the Salty Pepper fried fish. Wow, so good! I loved the seasoning, just the right amount of salty. A couple pieces were overly battered but the ones that weren't were perfection. The spicy hand shaven noodles were also amazing. We got it with chicken and while the chicken was fine, it looked identical to the noodles. A different protein would differentiate from the noodles. But the flavor and spice, that was spot on. Last dish was Chicken with black bean sauce. I liked it, husband didn't. I thought there was a nice salty flavor but it wasn't anything unique. Good portion sizes for the money too. A lot of potential here... there's multiple choices of Szechuan on the west side, east side and even a certain water fowl joint just blocks away... so I was quite skeptical yet another spicy SZ themed restaurant was needed. Well I'm happy to say I was dead wrong, the dishes were huge and tasty and wok fried techniques were good on the 2 items we ordered. What floored me was some of lunch specials appears to be around just $11 as of Sept'22!!! That alone is worth a try. We ordered 2 noodle dishes: fried shaved noodle with beef, and beef brisket noodle soup. The seasoning of the fried noodle dish was on point as was the portion size. The only downside was the small amount of beef, maybe a handful of pieces. The noodle soup was also large with plenty of noodle and tender stewed beef. Looks like we got a winner in a space that's been occupied by mediocracy for over ten years. First, I'm not a fan of Chinese egg rolls as I'm very partial to the Vietnamese version (Cha Gio.) But the ones here are the best I've had in a long time: very fresh and not too oily. The egg flower soup is the most golden colored I've ever seen, that's usually a good sign. Good Chinese food with lots of options to choose from. My personal favorite is the Chong Qing chicken, pretty spicy but good. The first dish came out in about 10-15 min, and rest came out fairly quickly after that. There's enough room to where you usually don't need to wait, so you get seated fairly quickly. New Chinese spot in the PSU area. The inside is big with lots of big tables. Menu is also extensive but I like how they have photos of their most popular items. The XLB had reallly good flavor. The soup was very delicious; might be the best XLB in town imo right now. Their entrees are big, good for sharing. Everything was made fresh. Loved their Hand Shaven Noodles. Well-charred and the dried chilli added great flavors and kicks. Beef was also super tender in there. Schezuan Chicken was decent; lots of chicken and not too oily. Never tried Fried Prawns with Crab Roe elsewhere but theirs are pretty dang good. Piping hot and crunchy on the outside while the prawns inside are bouncy and meaty. Social media photos and videos are misleading or i would comment their advertising did a great job, advertising it. In reality, it looks and feels different than what I got from the social media. I ordered stir fry pea shoot with garlic and Sichuan shrimps. The veggie was delicious but a bit too salty for my liking, I added some water to dilute the saltiness. The shrimps were yummy and flavorful but they were hard to peel - sticking to the shells. I wasn't impressed by their service attitude though. There was no greeting when I arrived or departed. There are many Sichuan restaurants in the Portland area and this spot is not a bad option but not too special. We ordered the xiaolongbao, Chongqing style chicken (辣子鸡), and the stir fry lamb with onions. All options were good. The xiaolongbao was good and was not overly juicy which is a plus for me. The lamb was pretty good, had a good mix of flavors. The Chongqing chicken was fine but it tasted too similar to popcorn chicken and was a bit on the salty end. But it was still good. If I am ever in the area I'd be down to come here and try more dishes but there are many other decent Sichuan restaurants closer to where my family lives. read more
