I have been here a few times but always forget to leave a review. Their food is so yummy and fresh! I haven't had their bbq yet but it does look super delicious. Service is kind and attentive and they are very timely with dine-in and takeout orders. It's always a treat to go with friends and sit in a booth, but we haven't done that in a while. They have good size portions and their casseroles can be shared between 4 people or yourself with tasty leftovers for days although side dishes are served in small portions (which is pretty common) they have great variety. So glad I made the drive to eat here! First off- I love Korean food, specifically, kimchi! It's hard to find good kimchi on this side (without driving to bellaire/longpoint). The kimchi fried rice was AMAZING. They also gave me a sauce to add heat if I wanted too. I couldn't leave w/out trying the "brisket dumplings!" They were crisp and the brisket was very flavorful on the inside. The dipping sauce that accompanies them make em' even better. It's for sure an app that should be shared though! We were told that we had to order 2 Barbecue meals at $23 each to be able to use the hot plate or else the kitchen would cook our order in the back? The food was decent; however, the service was HORRIBLE. Came in for dinner and ordered several dishes to grill on own meat. We had to ask for plates 8 times (yes we counted) before they brought it to our table about 45 minutes into our meal. This place is pretty good, but fell short of my expectations. I think it's the best Korean restaurant in Katy, but then again there are very few of them at all. I've had the pork and potato stew (gamjatang), the yookgaejang, seafood pancake, and spicy pork (jaeyook bokgeum). The potato stew was good but not spicy at all, which was disappointing. The yookgaejang was alright but not very memorable. It seemed to be lacking something. The jaeyook bokgeum was good but kind of cold, not piping hot. This place is so clean and the portion of the food is perfect. My friend and I came here for the Korean BBQ. We were able to cook it in front of us. DO NOT GET THE TONKATSU HERE! The pork is great, HOWEVER, the dipping sauce is SOOO BAD. It was a weirdest thing I have ever tasted. It was like a mixture of pure chemicals with fruit and some Worcestershire sauce. Not even sure what they were going for.... They could've used a $1.99 store bought sauce and done a 100X better. Everything else is very sweet. The banchan is sweet as well. We had the spicy pork ribs, and jook-suk (on the table) ttokbokki. These are regularly both very savory dishes, but were just too sweet for my taste. I think it's a good place for people dabbing in Korean food, but not for Koreans such as myself. read more

The food is okay if you are just getting into Korean food. The food is very asthetically pleasing and the presentation is great, but the flavor was not what I expected from the prices. I personally was a little disappointed because we had to wait for the bill. We waited and nobody came so we went up to the front and they said that someone would be by shortly to give us the bill, but we waited for another 15 minutes before somebody came. We waited a good 30 minutes in total for the bill. We ordered to-go as well and it came out and the lady said that she would also put everything else in a to-go box for us and only ended up taking two of the dishes and wrapped that up for us and the rest she told us to put in a doggy bag. We REALLY wanted to like this place. Wife and I stopped by on a Sunday evening and ordered the kimchee pancake, haemul sundubu (seafood stew), and LA galbi (beef short ribs). The pancake was much smaller and thinner than other places we have been to and no sign of pork in it (menu says it does have). Short ribs were also a disappointment. Although, there was a good amount of ribs, a couple of pieces were nothing but fat and bone. Also, it looked it the ribs were sitting out for a while before it was brought to us, because they were lukewarm. Another negative was the banchan. We only received 4 side dishes with the meal and had to ask for kimchee separately. The stew was the saving grace. It had a good amount of tofu and seafood with a nice kick to it without numbing your taste buds. Service was friendly. Overall, though, the food was not worth the money we spent. read more

We also had Champon, which is a spicy noodle(ramen like) soon with a mix of seafood, kind of like a spicy Cioppino with noodles. Nice seafood flavor with spices. I fail to reconcile the food, price and the high reviews being given here. Food was mediocre at best - we tried shrimp fried rice - which had very small shrimps (with black veins in the back not cleaned) and frozen veggies - super mediocre at best. It's our first time being here at this restaurant. It was a way above expectation visit. The lunch started with pleasing presentation of side dishes and they tasted really good. Our son is amazed with the fried dumplings. My wife and I have it a tried and we thought they were great! We ordered the beef intestine and pork bimbimba and al jigae fish roe soup. I have to honestly say I have not had a bimbimba this good for years!!!! Al jigae was extremely mouth watering! This place is highly recommended. We came to Tasty Ko because another restaurant in the same strip mall couldn't accommodate 5 people. When we walked into Tasty Ko the staff greeted us with a hello and were seated immediately. The waitress took our drink orders and let us look at the menu. When she returned with our drinks we asked for some recommendations on entrees and appetizers. Appetizers: Kimchi pancake Fried dumplings Fried marinated beef dumplings Entrees: Stir-fried spicy marinated chicken with rice cake Spicy stir-fried pork At least 2 more dishes I can't remember the names. But I will say this that everyone was happy with their entrees and the appetizer's we ordered. The restaurant had a large party in the center of it and shortly after we ordered a waiter came over with a small salad for all of us and apologized because the kitchen was backed up. By the time we finished the salad our 2 appetizers arrived and then the entrees started to show up once we had 3/4's of the appetizers done. As we enjoyed our entrees the waiter that brought the salads over came with an order of Fried marinated beef dumplings because he still felt bad that the kitchen was backed up. Overall the staff was great with service and attitude. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back for another delicious meal. Five stars for the restaurant, staff and the food. Good Jjajangmyun, but the flavor was a little different from what I've had at other Korean places. Their sauce is thinner, too. Kimchi "pancake" appetizer was excellent.
