We've been for dinner several times and always had a great experience. We took friends for a late lunch today and though the food was as good as ever the service was really horrible. I was not very crowded so that was not the reason. One of the meals came laden with sauce after our friend specifically asked that there be none and the waiter then watched him scrape it off without saying a word. I asked for three different servers for a second drink and water refills. There were two flies that would not leave our table alone. To start with, we have been coming here for years and years. I suppose we've put up with this place because the food is good and my Greek mother in-law-loves this place. Up until now, we've put up with this place because the food *is* very good. But tonight, this place pushed my considerable tolerance over the edge. First, only Valet parking is offered - no access to the parking lot. Next, the "20 minute" wait was 50 minutes. Seriously, you know what your turnover rate is. Don't fudge it! If the wait is 50 minutes, just tell me! Next, even sitting outside, it is so loud that we cannot converse with our tablemates- at a four top! Then, we watch three tables that were seated well after us served their complimentary hummus lo g after us, after we asked for ours THREE times! We waited a half hour for our orders to be taken. By 7:45 PM on Saturday night, they are out of avgolemono soup - a commodity staple of any Greek restaurant worth its weight. We had to ask for two of the three appetizers we ordered. We asked for water three times, none at our desert table! What's next? The appetizers finally arrived, were finished, and we waited and waited and waited for entrees, starting at our dirty appetizer dishes. Really, can you not bus a table? I have to say, the food really is very good. The tsipouris was excellent, and our server did a fine job of filleting the fish tableside. The beef kabob was cooked to temperature, and the chicken kabob was generous in portion. Although our server passed off the problems to the kitchen, the reality is that many of the problems were getting if house issues. Hummus and appetizers might not coming out are not expo problems - they are server issues. Orders out of sequence - maybe kitchen, maybe server issues. Regardless, the effect on the diner experience is the same - poor. I'd like to pass this off as a one time experience, but the reality is that while the food is generally very good, the service was not only lacking, but insulting. And when called on it, our server passed it off on the kitchen. Gee, shocking the *noone* asked us how our experience was! Will we back? Truthfully, I don't know. Good food is one thing, but the insensitive and disrespectful service is another. read more

Our waiter was too busy and when our food arrived, a simple dish of moussaka was nowhere to be found. The food was just ok, the agvalemono soup was too salty. Taverna Kyma has a really fun upbeat atmosphere. On a recent Saturday night, there was a beautiful woman dancing and agreeably posing for cellphone pictures with diners as she made her way through the dining room. The energy was nice, even if the music was perhaps a bit loud and the tables jammed together cheek to jowl. It's also REALLY dark in there. I'm all for atmosphere, but I'd like to be able to see the food on my plate also. The restaurant generously supplies every table with hummus served mortar and pestle style. It's not actually so easy to portion out the hummus with this pestle, but the hummus is tasty and its accompanying pita warm and fresh. On the down side, once our glasses were dry, it was nearly impossible to get new drinks. Our waiter disappeared for long stretches of time. The food was also sadly not so good. I ordered a scallops entree that was described as being served with tomatoes and other vegetables. What I didn't bargain on was so much grease and oil in the dish. The oil made the dish very heavy and took away all the freshness of the vegetables and scallops (a few of which contained some grit, too, I'm sorry to report). I don't think I'll go there again at dinner. My lunch experiences (Greek salads & wraps) have been better--and quieter. read more

I have to write this review so that the owners hopefully see this. My family & friends have been eating at Taverna Kyma since they opened. The food is always A+. Great flavors, authentic, cooked perfectly. Everyone that had ever waited on me has been great until last night. My boyfriend and I sat outside and waited for 10 minutes for someone to come over to us. Finally this blonde haired female (speaks with a Russian accent) walks over and says has anyone come over here yet?? Ok I'll be back to get drinks. We get our drinks and after she walks past several times ignoring us we finally order. I never got my Greek salad I ordered. Our dinners come (served by a food runner)and the dark haired lady comes outside to filet my boyfriends snapper. We eat our meals and by the time we finish we still have never seen our waitress. She never came over to offer refills on drinks, ask how food was, NOTHING!! As we sit there with empty plates she wonders outside and asks if we're done? I said yes and I'd like the check and please make sure my salad is not on the check because I never got it. She replies with a smart ass answer challenging me!! Like I'm lying!! I said how the hell would you even know what we got & didn't get, you have never been back to our table since we ordered!! She leaves check and walks away. Never says, thank you. Have a nice night. Nothing!! She was the rudest waitress I've encountered in a longtime in South Florida. I hope I'm never seated in her section again, because if I am I will ask to be moved or simply just leave. I will never give her one penny of my money!! I've waitresses for 10 years and managed a restaurant, she would NEVER last 1 day in my establishment with that attitude. I was with some regulars and they thought that they weren't on the ball that night as well... I may have to give em a 2nd shot not on a off night. I'm being very gracious with 2 stars, if they didn't over cook my lamb chops, blame it on a new chef, and then hear the waiter tell me it won't be comped from the bill when i asked them to take it away, i was disappointed. But like many new restaurants I try out, i usually order more than a normal individual, in hopes i try something to remember. I order 2 things, 1 the filet kabobs, and the Lamb chops. Also some calamari(which i kinda thought wasn't exactly that amazing, but was good none the less.) the Filet Kabobs were good, and if i went back i would prolly order this any day regardless of what the waiter reccomending the lamb chops.. lamp chops were overcooked and very scarce with only 3 small chops. I found the hummus and pita bread very enjoyable but took a long time to get service even though we were 1 of 2 tables occupied in the entire joint at the time. The food wasn't something to write home about, and I love Greek food.... They need to step there game up to get a higher review. Lacked in Service hugely 2 stars at best. read more

We had Christmas Eve lunch here at the food was tasty and service was great. We decided then to have our luncheon for our twins Baptism here and we were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent and the price for a group of 22 was better than average. We had a set menu which I was on the fence about but was so happy we did it. The food just kept coming and coming and each dish more delicious then the previous. Many of our guest had never been to Kyma before and they all said they would go back. Honestly some of the best Greek food in town. They definitely give a mom and pops home style feel to their food. I have worked in restaurants since I was 13 years old so I will say I am picky/fair when it comes too service because I know what to expect when I walk into an establishment. The service is out of this world. We sat at the bar and Glenn was our bartender and I gotta say, I would solely come back to taverna to have him as my server he was so amazing and really seemed like he knew what he was doing to run the bar. along with the other staff who were friendly and helpful even though they weren't our waiter. This had been a great go-to for Greek food. I loved the warm pita triangles and amazingly terrific hummus that would arrive at our table prior to ordering from the menu. My last 2 visits have been very disappointing, however. Disappointing in management and the food. My friend was pleased with her lamb sandwich. I ordered my favorite vegetable/feta stuffed pita for lunch. The vegetables were overly mostly overdone as if they'd been sitting on the grill (prepared for the earlier lunch crowd possibly) with a few asparagus thrown in, which were almost raw, not al dente. My greater disappointment was in the manager who when apprised of my comments by the waiter, did not even bother to address or rectify. I pass this location all the time, but tonight I was in the mood for Greek food We arrived at 630 pm and was pleasantly surprised that happy hour was on at the bar until 7 p.m. houseceinr $4.50 a glass and similar discounts on house brand drinks. Lots to chose from on the happy bour menu from appetizers, salads and main dishes at reduced prices. Our bartender brought warm pita bread with hummus to start. It was excellent. We had a Greek salad. It was fresh and had all the required ingredients cucumbers, black olives, feta cheese. My dining partner enjoyed Pastitsio, a Greek lasagne. It was generously sized and it was very good. I had the chicken kabobs. They were Served over rice, with green beans that were perfectly cooked. I enjoyed every bite., and had leftovers to bring home. The happy hour was a pleasant surprise and everything we ordered was around $60 bucks. What a deal. I found the ambiance, noise and disorder on a Saturday evening to be disappointing. We had made our reservation a week in advance, but were seated in the bustling passageway on their balcony just outside the kitchen. After some complaining, we were moved to a just vacated opposite corner on the outside balcony. The food was OK. Mussels could have used more garlic. We had to ask for a spoon for the admittedly tasty remainder soup. The Royal Dorado and Lamb Shank were both tasty and juicy. read more

We've been here 50 times. It's actually a good restaurant, never terrible, never overly amazing- just plain good. If I was the type to always do a review, I would have given kyma 4 stars years ago. I'm now giving it 1 star because of the obvious lack of concern for others concerning COVID-19 spread. 100% of the staff had a mask- just they were all wearing it down by the neck- you know, where it's completely useless. The greeter/manager had it on when face to face taking my money but took it off to answer the phone about 2 feet from my face. I ordered $100 by phone to-go and was about to walk out without paying. I felt bad wasting food and making a scene so I paid. Then I tossed it in the dumpster. Very upset these folks are "too cool" to do the right thing. I may never go back. I wish I took pics to post. I should have. Go elsewhere to get take out unless your as clueless as they are- in which case - enjoy! read more

We were in the mood for Greek cuisine. A favorite place had closed since our last visit to the area, so we were looking for an alternative, and fortunately, we found a new favorite. Warm pita bread and hummus were brought to our table as soon as we sat down. We started with delicious Avgolemono soup. My wife enjoyed her Spanakopita entree. I was looking forward to fish, so I chose the Bronzino. It was listed on the daily specials as a whole fish, but the server readily accommodated my request for a filet. Very tasty. Hands down the BEST Gyro wrap/platter in 15 miles. The dressing on the salad that comes with the wrap at lunch is out of this world good, the hummus is fresh and amazing as well as the pita that comes with it and the lemon potatoes are great as well. I haven't had too many dishes from here because the gyro is THAT GOOD but friends who I have been with that have ordered different things have been super impressed as always. Although many of the items we ordered were quite good some were mediocre to terrible. The Spanikopita, scallops and gyros were quite good. The Greek salad was bland even with extra dressing. The octopus was just TERRIBLE. It was so over cooked it couldn't be chewed. I sent it back and got a second just as bad. The waiter offered me a Greek salad. Didn't he realized we had already ordered and eaten most of a large Greek salad for the table? And, before dinner even got started the waiter came to refill water glasses. Unfortunately, he mistook my back for the glasses. He wasn't even near the table and never really noticed it until I screamed. Ice water down my back and eating dinner soaking wet was not pleasant. Taverna Kyma was discovered by us a few years ago. I wish I knew about them as long I I lived in Florida. Best best restaurant in the area. We have tried many tavernas and Greek restaurants. Nothing to be compared. The manager Peter always greet us with a smile, the hosts know us by first names. Needless to say the waiters Yani and Ricardo are like part of our family now. We go to the restaurant at least once a week. Charming atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Belly dancer is a great entertainer! Last Christmas season we dined here and celebrated two birthdays. We had a wonderful experience (food was great, service good) so we decided to return this year for an encore. Unfortunately, our experience was 360 degrees opposite of last year. Like last year, we were a large group and had made reservations many weeks in advance. First they called and asked us to move our reservation from 6:30 to 6pm. Then they called again and asked us to move the reservation to 5:30. The person who made the reservation agreed to both changes because he wanted to be accommodating since it was a holiday. The rest of us weren't too happy because for us 5:30 is way too early to be eating dinner but we went along with it. From the moment we sat down, we felt rushed. We were planning to enjoy our meal and celebrate the same two birthdays we celebrated last year. Instead, it seemed the staff was running a marathon to get us in and out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. On top of that, they kept trying to up-sell us on everything which was very off-putting. We were eating our salads and before we knew it they brought the entrees. Then they started trying to take plates away before we were finished. We could not believe how we were being treated. I have no idea if they offered us dessert or not because we were too busy trying to finish our dinners before they grabbed our plates. Needless to say we did not celebrate any birthdays at the restaurant that night. We paid the bill and left at 6:50 (a little over an hour after we arrived). As we were getting ready to leave, we saw a man hovering over the table. One of the waiters pointed to our table and said "this is your table in a couple of minutes". They even started re-setting half of the table before we got up. I have no idea if the man was a "regular" or what, but we found that the icing on the cake of a not very enjoyable birthday celebration that didn't even happen. We come to Florida every winter, but that was the last time we will patronize this restaurant. We will take our large group and money elsewhere and not be practically pushed out the door a short time after we arrive. Incredibly disappointing. read more
