This place has delicious cocktails, beer for days, savory appetizers, and pizza that will blow your mind. The Pink Piggy is my absolute favorite and when I order the Smokey Pie, I make sure to add goat cheese--absolutely incredible. Not to mention the staff is always welcoming, ready to serve, and create a memorable experience EVERYTIME The staff is so stellar, it's the reason I'm writing this review. I've come many times and have always gotten great service. This time they really blew me away. I came here with 3 other friends and we had a good time. I've been looking for a new place to order pizza from in the area after my favorite place closed down and this place is definitely in the running. They have some really fun topping combos. For 4 people, we got the cheese bread and 2 pizzas and that was plenty food. There was no one performing while I was there but they do have a stage for live performance and have deals throughout the week. I think on Tuesday it's half priced wine bottles. It has been about 5 years since we visited Taverna. I remember it being average, but I thought I would give it another try since it had been quite a while. The building and the atmosphere is great, the servers and hostesses were very friendly, but the food is meh. This seems harsh, but the pizza's crust reminds me of a frozen pizza. I'm not sure if the dough is fresh or not, but it tastes frozen. It was not crispy whatsoever and chewy. Seems like a pizza I would get at an airport. I rate it a 2/10. The bottles peroni was a good price at $5. The goat cheese vinaigrette salad was fine. Hopefully, they figure out the crust, but I won't be back to find out most likely. read more

We had a much better recent experience here!!! We had a different waiter, so that really made all the difference for us. Our waiter was attentive without being too overbearing. We ordered different pastas this time around (baked rigatoni and sausage) and the creamy calabrese). Both were fantastic! We also got the killer queso and the stuffed goat cheese mushrooms. The food at Taverna Rossa is absolutely spectacular and you get great portions. We went for my daughters birthday dinner on a Tuesday and even though it was busy, service was still great and the restaurant is very nice in the inside. This place is our go to place to go in Plano for pizza, wings, and drinks! It's a nice quiet Sunday night and my husband and I got our seat at the bar! Tyler took excellent care of us!! He recommended Mitcher's Bourbon Whiskey from Kentucky for my husband, and I had some yummy Palisades Red Blend wine!! Then we had an appetizer of garlic bread and then the rustic apple salad, and sweet chili baked wings (Tyler recommended mixing the sweet chili sauce with Buffalo sauce). The wings are sooooo good!! I've had nothing but great experiences here. I've gotten many pizzas in the last month not only because of the proximity to my new apartment, but also because they truly have the best pizza. Well, I had a bad experience tonight as I stood waiting for my to-go order for over 30 mins. Brian was so helpful in to-go, it was literally just him running ever single order. There must've been over 100 just within peak hours that night. It was PACKED. But he was sympathetic to my misery and refunded the whole order, food for free. Such a great staff and amazing food. Visited Taverna Rossa for dinner alone recently - I thought the space was cute and they have a nice outdoor area for when it's nice outside. When I arrived, they wanted me to sit at the bar, but it didn't look super comfy there, so I asked to sit at a table...I think I annoyed the host but they did find me a table in the bar area. Service once they started helping me was good, but I wanted a long time for anyone to greet me. I think the bartender may have also been managing the whole bar area? He was really nice and helpful once he did find me. The food was good - I got the margharita pizza and a glass of wine - I ordered a wine I've had many times (and have been to their winery multiple times) and I'm almost certain that it's not what I received. The wine was good but not what I had expected. Had they run out of what was on the menu? Who knows... Food was good though the pizza didn't look as I was expecting - I guess I was expecting less like a traditional pizza and more like a 'fancy' pizza. In any case, the pizza didn't look like much but it did taste delicious. The tables weren't close together but the sound travels - I felt like I was in the conversations of the tables next to me. Not a big issue, but not ideal. Overall, the food was good and the service was friendly, but a bit loud and initially slow service. we went on Sunday and we sat at a high table in the bar's lounge area. we had a view of a pond with a fountain, it was very cute in there. we had the small ceasar, which our server shelby advised was going to be plenty enough to share and she also let us know we could order 2 half flavors for the pizza. Someone waited on me right away, I ordered a small pizza and took advantage of the Yelp check-in coupon for a FREE MEATBALL APPETIZER. I visited during a team lunch event. The overall experience was great. The food was delicious. I ordered the lunch combo: stag salad and smoky pie pizza. You'll love the Smokey pie if you like bbq. Check in on yelp and they give you a free pretzel or meatball appetizer! Came in for lunch and was quickly seated. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. She got all our orders in and made sure we were good many times throughout the meal. We got half pink piggy and half bee knees pizza and a BYO. The pink piggy is slightly salty from the meats but then has a slightly rosemary sweetness from the butter. The bees knees is a lot more sweet because of the honey on the pizza. Both were very good and perfect to get half half. BYO I made with prosciutto, mushroom, goat cheese, balsamic figs, arugula. I thought the figs would be sweeter but it wasn't that sweet. The pizza had a nice saltiness from the prosciutto and goat cheese, with tiny sweetness from the figs and a fresh slightly lemony taste from the arugula. I liked this alot but next time might ask to add some honey or that rosemary butter from one of the other pizzas to make it slightly sweet. The pizzas were thin crust pizzas which I thought at first were going to be more bready. But it ended up being perfectly crispy, never got soggy, and has to be one of the best thin crust pizzas I have had around this area in a while! They have a ton of happy hour deals so I would try to make that too. I think a 3 topping BYO during hh is 10! read more
