I walked into my sister's dream store: a store full of delicious tea, little spoons (yes, little spoons from everywhere in all different styles!), and candy from the UK. Heaven. Great little place that turned around a shitty second Saturday. We wandered in here on accident and decided we couldn't leave without picking up a few ounces of loose leaf tea. The owner was very helpful and clearly had vast knowledge of all things tea. She quickly made recommendations for my dad and me, letting me smell the teas as she talked about them. For tea noobs like me, it was like Teavana, but more personal (and with better prices.) What's also nice is that you can get as much or as little tea as you'd like, you're not forced to buy a whole cannister. I also left with an infuser that she recommended, which I've really enjoyed using. I'm converted - no more tea bags for this girl! It was so sweet how patient she was being with us. I know how annoying it is dealing with people who are completely clueless about something you're passionate about. Cozy is the word! Lots of delectable teas sold by the ounce (but if they are lower priced teas, they add .35 for under 2 ounces). I got the rooibos that looks like tobacco, and a golden pearl tea that smells like flowers. Delightful!! I am not a fan of the Beehouse teapots they sell, but I like their selections. My favorite is the giant brown Brit ceramic version. I also like the macha display that is next door to the Scottish biscuits and fudges. Weird, but it works! If you need fancy tea, they've got it. My mom would basically go crazy here, so we are not telling her about it. Especially since it's next door to Rumplestiltskin, so she'd never leave the building. read more

I have fallen in love with this little shop. I am not a tea connoisseur . I didn't even know how to use tea that wasn't in a tea bag. I left with a tea diffuser (very inexpensive, around $2.50)and some very aromatic teas. I have fallen in love with the "Herbs for woman" . I drink it at night and it is very relaxing. Also the teas when brewed make the house smell delightful. I hate I live in Mississippi as I would be a regular here. Also if you check in on yelp you get 5% off. I wish I would of known that. I've recently gotten into tea, and after trying nearly every store-bought bagged tea I could get my hands on, I decided to venture into the realm of loose leaf teas. I wasn't expecting Sacramento to have a local tea shop, but surprise, surprise, we do! There are many tea varieties, and they seem more reasonably priced than Teavana. On one visit, I left with a few ounces of a white peony and a milk oolong. They're amazing and definitely a clear step up from bagged teas. I love loose leaf tea and I'm glad I've found this place in Sac! They offer a huge variety of white, green, and black tea that will keep you coming back to sample all of them. I also like that you can order by the ounce so you don't have to buy a large quantity and get sick of one kind of tea. When I was not sure what to get, they were quick to offer me suggestions. The Tea Cozy is wonderful - plain and simple. The shop owner and her employees are very courteous and helpful. They have always been happy to answer any questions I have about their tea.(and other merchandise), and they offer samples to try. They carry a lot of British imports, many of which are hard to find save through mail order. (By the way, The Tea Cozy does mail order, too.) In addition to their wide selection of tea, they carry china cups, saucers and tea pots, other tea supplies such as steepers, tea warmers, and reusable cloth tea bags, British candy and a selection of UK food items. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering what they're selling. The Tea Cozy is located in The Building at 10th and R. It can be a little hard to find the first time, but if you can fine The Fox & Goose (a British-style pub), you're not far off. Parking is ample and disabled accessible. read more

This place is magical~~ A tiny little tea shop tucked in the corner of other stores. If you aren't paying attention you will miss it easily but if you go inside you won't be disappointed. The owner is kind and knowledgeable and ready to help. The back wall is papered with the unfolded wrappings of teas shipped from far away places and covered in script. The store is filled with a wide variety of teas from all corners and places of the world and the cost for them is more than reasonable. I was sold on my first visit. The owner is extremely knowledgeable on every product in her store. We've only been in a few times but each time has been fabulous. The lady at the counter that's been there each time is very knowledgeable of her selection. The first time we went in looking for teas that we know (Ceylon for my bf and blackcurrant for me). What we purchased was nicely priced and had beautiful full leaves great for the french-press or for our infuser pots without needing any filter bag at all. The second time we went in looking to expand our tea knowledge and with a little information about what we preferred and why, she suggested a nice Yunnan tea for our collection that I enjoyed. The most recent time in the shop was after learning that my bf is highly sensitive to caffeine and went looking for decaf options, have yet to try her suggested adaptation to our favorites, but the ground decaf black she sold to us is an acceptable substitute if the alternate brew method for our regular teas doesn't work. I have to say this is a very interesting place with lots of options for teas. However, each of the four times I have been here, they have either been out of the tea that I was looking for that they advertised the last time I visited or a different issue arose. For example, This most recent time while I was buying a gift, the owner charged me three times the amount of one of the items I purchased. 5$ versus $15. I didn't notice the price discrepancy until I looked at my receipt in my email. When I returned to have the price adjusted, the person that helped me was not familiar with the system so we had to wait 20 minutes and there was no apology for the inconvenience and the error. Little tea shop in the heart of Sacramento. They just moved locations (down a hallway) but they have the same goods. You can smell all the tea and they have a fairly large selection. They don't carry many exceptionally fruity teas like teavana, but they do carry some and their prices are better. They have lots of green and black teas. My personal favorite item they carry is the peach rooibos with a little sugar and milk. Knocked off 1 star because they don't carry rock sugar and was kinda snobby about it. I am so in love with this place. Where else in Sacramento can you get loose leaf tea? Teavana? Sure, but then you have to go to Arden Fair, deal with that sh*thole of a parking lot and brave the crowd of teenagers that seem to live there. And then when you get to Teavana, you still have to pay close to $6.00 an ounce for some low-rate tea. Tea Cozy? 1/6 of the price of Teavana, higher quality tea and not in Arden Fair. What's not to love? They also give a discount if you buy more than 4oz at a time. Holla! read more

We're not from the area, but end up in Sacramento frequently because of family living there. Ever since we found this place, we have to make it into our Sacramento schedule whenever we can. Mostly, we try to stock up on our favorites when we come since it is hard to get tea shopping and family visits all into the same day. Our favorites include: Black teas: Earl Gray Cream, Chocolate, French Vanilla, Irish Breakfast Green teas: China Rose, Strawberry Fields Herbal teas: Cocoa Loco, Organic Rooibos Chai We have more we're trying. We'll have to update our favorite list once we've tried our new selections. Also, there are so many types of tea there, there is always more to try. This place is awesome because: 1) They have loose leaf tea with reasonable prices with great selection and the ability to buy it by the ounce. 2) The woman that works there is really nice, friendly, and knowledgeable about teas. I just picked up 4 ounces of "Organic" Dragon Well at Tea Cozy. The tea flavor is not great but OK (better than the cheap Dragon Well tea I bought from Amazon and will now throw away), and I haven't bitten into twigs yet, but the leaves themselves seem bigger, less tender, and therefore less enjoyable to bite into and also don't taste as good as those from the former Teavana store. (The clerk advised me not to eat the leaves because of poor Chinese worker hygiene, but I would think the same advice could apply to drinking the tea.) This is my very favorite tea shop! Nami is just the sweetest lady and will stand and talk tea and let you smell all of the amazing teas they offer while you decide which ones you want (it's hard!). They have the most amazing loose leaf teas I've found... pretty much anywhere. French Creme Brulee, English Caramel (there are little chunks of caramel that melt when you pour the water over them!), Earl Grey Creme, Apricot, Chocolate Hazelnut... there are just too many good ones. I recommend this place to everyone I meet who loves tea and they're all as in love as I am.
