Best pork fried rice I've had since I've moved to California. Tastes like the fried rice I had overseas in Shenzhen. Rangoon was tasty and I didn't even know it came with the meal. Last but not least the orange chicken tastes like orange chicken but a really good orange chicken. Had a nice crunch and wasn't to sweet. My friend and the reviews had me excited to try this place out! We ordered a variety of plates on our visit. In my opinion, the food is not as authentic as I had hoped for. And the quality wasn't there. The salt and pepper spareribs were kinda bland and most of the pieces felt like they barely had any meat or no meat. The honey walnut shrimp were decent. The Hong Kong style chow mein was not my favorite. I've had this at many places and it just could not compare to what I have had at other places. The fried rice was really dry. The sweet and sour pork were okay. The food overall is okay and I would come again for convenience because it's so close to me. This is an interesting chinese restaurant on the west end of Elk Grove. When you are seated your table setting does not include chopsticks only a fork. If you want chopsticks you must request them and then you will get disposable chopsticks in a red paper sleeve. However they have what looks like and tastes like authentic homemade Chinese hot oil not at the table but it will be provided if you ask for it. When you get it it will be about a tablespoon or so in a small round condiment dish and it is delicious. When we went they also noted on a white board as you come in that they were offering string beans. We thought regular American string beans but to our surprise it was chinese long beans and they were super delicious. We ordered them cooked with black bean. With all that being said it looks like the rest of the menu for the most part is American Chinese food standing front and center are the lunch combos with egg drop or hot and sour soup which imho are not the trending soups when going to a more authentic Chinese restaurant whose patrons are mainly Chinese. We ordered wonton soup without the sliced BBQ pork and just wontons, it was pretty good, but I don't think they make their own wontons. The prices are average but the servings are generous. Customer service is ok, imho it depends who your server is. If you plan on being the host to your party and getting a server who is attentive and experienced allowing you to tend to your guests and not having to worry about napkins, drinks, who gets the check etc. well no guarantees here. If you have friends that need a Chinese/American food experience, e.g. fried rice, chow mein, egg roll and egg drop or hot and sour soup but you want a more authentic Chinese food experience for yourself you could make it work here. This is definitely a well placed Chinese restaurant. I think it works very well for the Elk Grove crowd. But if you are entertaining your Chinese relatives/friends better to take them to the dim sum place on Bruceville. I know we will be back. Man! I wanted this place to be good. I ordered takeout and wasn't very satisfied. I'm basically making my way to every Chinese restaurant in EG. The guy that took my order over the phone was very nice. I told him right away I wanted paper Chinese takeout boxes, not the styrofoam clamshells. He told me no problem. Sweet! I ordered beef and broccoli and snow peas with shrimp. My go-to orders. Pretty standard wherever you go for Chinese. When I arrived my order was ready and inside my boxes per my request. Perfect. When I get home, I'm pretty disappointed with the shrimp dish. Traditionally there is a light sauce. The dish for whatever reason was really dark. Actually the same color as the beef and broccoli. And it didn't taste anything like the snow pea and shrimp dish I've ordered elsewhere on many occasions. Beef and broccoli was a bit of a dud also. The meat was tough, not like it was marinated or tenderized as it should have been. Also mushy broccoli. I believe in second chances. I'll give it another go sometime. read more

Best place to go to if you want something both filling and delicious. I tend to always get either the wor wonton noodle or regular soup, but the other day I got their BBQ pork plate as well. The pork was a bit crunchy because of what I'm assuming was cartaledge, but still tasted really good. The staff was also amazing. Really nice, and one lady even got me a to-go cup after refilling my drink for free, which I've never experienced before so that also made my day even better. Definitely recommend going there for a date night too. Not many people go there sadly, but that also means there aren't a bunch of people making noise. Saddened by the removal of the vegetarian meat options. When Tea Garden first opened we were so pleased by those choices on the menu, we went weekly and spread the word in an effort to ensure they succeeded. Even after leaving Elk Grove we continued to make the drive on regular basis. Our extended family dined there as well, it was our gathering place for family events, holiday, and birthday dinners. Never ever have heard of this Chinese food restaurant in Laguna, but glad I checked various Yelp reviews and found a new spot. This is a typical Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove with comparative prices, extremely fast service, and good flavor. The decor is from the 1990s and someone only one to two waitresses manage the entire restaurant at (props to you). The food is cooked hot and fresh, made to order which helps with the various flavors and dishes. I tried lunch combination plates and from order to table, I was served in literally 7 minutes. So quick! My combination plate with chicken chow mein, steamed rice, egg flower soup, and egg roll on the side were all piping hot and fresh. I did not enjoy the flavor of the egg roll, it seemed as if it had been sitting out for a few hours and reheated quickly. Overall, the food was tasty. I would come back again! read more

He was so impressed with Tea Garden's salt and pepper fish that he said, "Ever have food so good, you have to hug someone?" LMAO The batter is light and crispy which perfectly compliments the delicate white fish inside. Other versions we have tried don't taste as good as soon as it cools off, but Tea Garden's manages to stay crispy and delectable even when it's not piping hot. All the dishes we tried were superb, but our personal faves were the combination fried rice, combination chow mein, orange chicken, and egg foo yung. Service is always on point, whether you are eating in or getting take-out/delivery. When they quote a delivery time, they are on time or early.
