Went here for lunar new year and they had a special menu. On this menu I got to try their Lobster with noodles. This was my favorite dish growing up and it reminded me of every birthday celebration I had where we got to enjoy this together as a family. What I love about this place is that you can order several dishes and share it family style. In addition to the lobster dish we also ordered their fillet mignon cubes which were cook to perfection and the marinade on it was top notch! We also ordered the crack steak which was a steak that came out on a sizzling platter with a dipping sauce that was very tasteful and delightful! Last but not least, their orange chicken! Disappointed! We drove far from north LA to try this Asian inspired afternoon tea time to celebrate Mother's Day. We love doing tea time in LA and wanted to give this a try. First of all, they charge for kids 6 and under, which would've been fine if they gave them food/drinks that kids that age would actually enjoy. $25 per kid and they didn't even like the dessert, much less the food. That's saying much if the kids didn't even like the dessert. My kids love tea time especially for dessert, but not here. They should've made it optional for the kids or gave kids options. The tea was ok. The food was underwhelming, nothing I can recall tasting particularly good. The service was sub par, almost as if we were an inconvenience to check on. We had to flag a different server just to get napkins. The only thing I liked was the shrimp cake. After spending $200 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers, I am very disappointed. Strong 5 experience! Found this new restaurant while browsing Resy restaurants. Thankfully, it was close to home. I arrived and was promptly greeted and seated. The interior is open and welcoming with great background music - which set up a great vibe on a Friday night. My server was an excellent - I think his name was Kelly, perhaps? Food, tasty and full of flavor. I ordered the wagyu dumplings and then the sweet & sour snapper for my entree. The sauce on that fish was incredible. Let me start by saying that the service was attentive, detailed, and caring. That is the most important thing. We ordered duck potstickers, steak on crack, fried rice, and honey walnut prawns. The duck potstickers were fine, but there were four pieces for $17. Over four dollars a potsticker, not to mention an awkward quantity for people to share as an appetizer. You shouldn't smear a fancy swoosh of sauce under your potstickers and call it fine dining. Pretentious. The rest of the dishes were similarly high-priced in relation to their portion size. The server told us that the restaurant was family style with shareable portions. This would be true if your family consisted of two people. I happened to only eat enough because the two other people I came with weren't very hungry. Chinese food has struggled to be viewed as refined in western culture. Charging high prices for small portions is not the way to change this image. What I'm trying to say is, the food is more or less delicious, but the value was very disappointing. Out of all the savory options they gave me, only 2 of the items were good, everything else tasted like the bottom of a McDonald's bag unfortunately. I will say the curry in the cone tasted super good and I wish they gave us a larger portion The tea was good, it was pretty flavorful and they give you one kettle per person Overall I would've paid like $20 per person, also there's a mandatory 18% gratuity fee for it. The place was just okay. I think for a date night this would be pretty fun, but for groups this place is not it. The place has great ambience and attentive servers. The portions are really small even for elevated fine dining. The spicy eggplant is $17 for half an eggplant and the scallion pancakes are more like larger dough scallion disks cut in half. The fried rice was well seasoned. We did enjoy the dumplings and the steamed fish at least! A lot of the sauces were overly salty and I could still feel the bloat days after our meal. I would love to see how the place improves in the upcoming year as it has only been open for a couple months. Please take into consideration the portion sizing and perhaps having a majority of the sauces be slightly to the side so we can choose how much is on there. The scones we delicious however clotted cream instead of butter would have elevated them. The sweets were exactly that and very strongly flavored. The food was definitely unique and above average.
