Almost fell to the floor seeing this place has 4 stars out of nearly 600 reviews! It can't possibly be true because I barely even give 1 star for what we had! I got the creamy jasmine (no adjustments) and S.O. had Thai tea (no adjustments) and both our drinks were so watered down with little tea flavor, some sugar, and just the worst milk tea I've had in a long while. One of my favorite boba spots in the city! My favorite drinks are the grasshopper with lychee jelly and boba, and liquid gold with boba and almond jelly. Grasshopper is lychee tea topped with cucumber! Super refreshing on a hot day, who knew cucumber and lychee would be such a good combo. The liquid gold has the perfect amount of sweet and creamy, while still having a strong tea flavor. For some reason they don't have this drink at the Los Altos location, but its okay because the SF location is closer to me anyway :). The menu isn't big, but the drinks are distinct with some classics like lychee black tea and jasmine milk tea. For ~$5 a drink it's kind of on the pricier side, but it's worth it because I feel like the ingredients are very high quality (and it's delicious!). I also like the size and shape of the cups, lol. In addition to drinks they also have snow here and the portions are very big, the mango one is good. A friend recommended I try teaspoon, so I did. It's such a nice and sleek place. I loved the decor!! The staff were really patient, friendly, and helpful in my decision in narrowing down the menu. All the drinks look so pretty. It was very hard to decide what to get, but I knew for sure I wanted the grasshopper. It was a little different at first, but after a few sips I got use to the cucumber taste. The drink grew on me. I also got the white crystal for later. I really liked it as well. I have heard of Teaspoon and their locations in Los Altos and Mountain View, but have never wanted to drive there just for freaking boba. With that said, I AM SO HAPPY that they opened a Teaspoon in San Francisco! With so many boba places popping up in the city, you need to have a creative menu that stands out from the rest. For starters, I love how straight forward their drink menu is -- tells you what's non caffeinated and what has dairy. In terms of their popular and personally more tasty flavors, the Mojito (Option to Add Flavors but can't adjust the sweetness), White Crystal (Grape Oolong), and Liquid Gold (Honey Oolong with Organic Cream) are a MUST TRY. I only wish they had a liquor license to add booze to their mojito -- but I guess it is the next best thing if you want to cut down on your alcohol intake. The boba sweetness is kind of sweeter than other places, but the flavors are super fresh and refreshing. Lastly, what makes Teaspoon such a great addition to San Francisco is that 1. Their cups aren't freaking huge and can fit in cup holders and they aren't in fancy gimicky glass cups and 2. They are open until 11. The overall presentation of their drinks and the fun staff makes this one kick ass boba place. Yes, it is about 5 dollars for a drink, but honestly pretty worth it for a quality place. Amazing tea drinks.. one of the best, personal opinion. My favorites are below. House milk tea: you may think it's just a regular boba tea but it is not. They use premium house black tea which i can't find out what kind of black tea but it is good. Make sure you get it with their crystal boba... Liquid gold: mixed of cream, oolong tea and honey.. like the drink name said, Gold... Get it with crystal boba.. i think it would be better if they use roasted oolong tea but then again the honey might over power the roasted taste. Roasted Tea Creama: roasted oolong tea top with organic cream. Again get it with crystal boba. You can taste the roasted oolong tea unlike other places that makes this type of tea is watered down. As you can tell by now by reading the above review, I'm a fan of their crystal boba, why you ask, because they make it different then other places and their crystal boba will never gets hard if you put it in the fridge. Normally any boba you get, either regular black boba or agar boba or crystal boba, when you put it in the fridge after couple of hours it will start to get hard. Not their crystal boba. If I could live down the street from teaspoon I think the employees would get sick of seeing me. I have tried so many boba places over the years in so many different places - but this one will ALWAYS be in my top 3. This is truly #1 though if I'm going to be honest. You can't beat the quality, their menu or the taste. Their honey boba is my favorite addition to any drink and puts regular boba to shame! I love being able to adjust my tea preference & sweetness level. It's really comforting to know what I'm drinking is high quality and tastes like it to and the sizing is generous! My favorite drink to purchase here is the roasted tea crema at 25% sweetness and just one scoop of the cream with honey boba. Occasionally I will do half boba half jelly (their new passion fruit dolphins are awesome). My other favorite is their paradise lime tea at 25% with mango stars or boba. I hope they never get rid of the lime tea because it is seriously the best and I've never found it anywhere else! I've always been greeted by EXCELLENT customer service in which I've found this place to be a diamond in the rough. Many places like sharetea or others are very rushed and don't focus on customer service. They have the best atypical fusion teas if you're looking for good milk teas, iced teas, and snow ices. Their menu is packed with flavor. My husband is obsessed with their snow ices. The Thai tea and milk tea snows are amazinggg. As for the drinks, you really can't go wrong. I love that they are innovative in creating seasonal flavors. My favs are Liquid Gold and Grasshopper. I've heard mixed reviews about this place-one friend told me she loved this place, whereas some reviews on their milk tea say otherwise. -I ordered the house milk tea with boba. The total came out to be $5,. But, Teaspoon is around the expensive residential area so I can understand why the prices are set at that minimum. I was so surprised when I got my cup because it was so different from other boba places. It comes in a tall and skinny cup, which reminded me of a smaller version of a Fat Tuesday. -I was unsure how much sweetness I should set my drink to, so I played it safe with 50%. When I took a sip, it tasted really bland and watery. I didn't want to inconvenience the workers so I still kept sipping. But, I realized that I couldn't go on longer, so I asked an employee to change my drink to 100% sweetness. It made my milk tea experience here much better. Even after I got the employee to change it to 100% sweetness, she told me that if there were any problems to tell her. -Seating here is limited since the store is quite small. Every time I have come here there are two workers (all of them super kind, and attentive!) The drinks here are on the sweeter side so I'd recommend getting less sweetness. The snow seems more Icey/flakey than other Taiwanese snows I've had, but the taste is good (I wish they had a matcha flavor tho). I ordered 75% sweet and it was still really sweet so I'd recommend going for 50%! They have so many unique "speciality" drinks I want to come back and try! They have a variety of milky, fruity, and classic teas. The drinks all come in one size which is comparable to a large elsewhere. Teaspoon even has shaved snow with toppings. I haven't heard of Teaspoon until I saw their Instagram advertising for a limited edition pin that gets gifted when you spend over $25. Being a panda and boba lover, I had to get my hands on one. I ordered right at opening on the day the pin was to be debuted, and bought 4 drinks. To my surprise the Matcha Royale (both strawberry and mango) were delicious! I would even say they're a competitor to the Happy Lemon mango matcha that I love so much. Their house milk tea is also a solid choice - each at 75% sweetness and light ice. The taro was good, but tasted less authentic and more powder-flavor than real taro. BUT I appreciated the real taro bits. I am usually not a fan of snow ice since I find that many places make it either a) too sweet so that it tastes like artificial sugar or b) too bland so it tastes like literal ice. But Teaspoon surprisingly delivered a delicious thai tea snow ice that tastes exactly like thai tea but in snow ice form. Imagine that! Called the Hangover 3 (for reasons I do not know- did they eat this in the movie? does it cure hangovers? WHAT IS IT?!), it is thai tea snow ice with mini rice mochi, coffee jelly, and condensed milk. The mini mochi is amazing! Soft and chewy to perfection. I'm just sad that I didn't get an actual teaspoon to eat my mini mochi. Haha, I kid. They have nice big colorful plastic spoons instead. As for the drinks, I find them a tad sweet for my liking but they have really good taro chunks in the Taro Lover. BOGO promotion is worth it but at regular price, it is a bit expensive at $4.50 a drink. Seating-wise, there's not much. There is a big table by the windows that can seat four people and then two smaller tables next to the register that can seat two each. Then there's a tiny sliver of a counter against the wall with a couple of high stools. To the back of the store, there is a door and that door leads to Narnia because it says Employees Only which means no luck for a customer bathroom. read more

Best milk tea and boba in SF at the moment. And coming from LA, I'm pretty picky about milk tea and boba. Their tea is freshly brewed, and not watery. Boba is usually great texture (chewy but not too soft or hard), and it's honey boba, so has the lightly sweet flavor. My regular drinks ($4.75 + $.50/topping) are: Liquid Gold with almond pudding or egg custard, and/or boba, 80% sweet. This is an oolong tea with organic cream--nice and smooth. On cold days I'll get this hot instead of iced, with just boba. Lime Paradise with boba and lychee jelly, 100% sweet. I don't usually like lemon/lime, but this drink is so good, that even my hubby likes it. Caffeine free floral tea (I think it's chamomile), with 2 lime wedges inside, so it looks good as well as having the slight lime flavor to freshen up the drink--perfect for a warmer day. Creamy Jasmine with almond pudding or egg custard, and/or boba, 80% sweet. This is a lightly floral jasmine, with organic cream. I love oolong tea, and this place has five varieties of it. Kind of fantastic. They also have many topping options that not all places have, including coffee jelly (though the coffee jelly is strong), almond pudding, and aloe vera. Authentic Taiwanese, but you can also opt for the organic options here to satisfy SF hipsters. They also have shaved snow, which looks fantastic since you can add any of these toppings and basically have your drink in snow form with boba, almond pudding, etc., which is pretty cool. The only current bubble tea shop that has the best shaved snows is none other than Teaspoon, the last of its kind in Russian Hill. Bubble teas are fine. But one thing I barely love about bubble tea is boba and any other chunks like aloe Vera and rainbow jellies. They're consumed the very last. If I didn't say "no ice", I'd had trouble slurping boba if the chunks of ice blocks them. Likewise, I had to wait until the ice melts, but for how long? Therefore, chia seeds are the best alternative to my fruity or milky teas. But I didn't just came all the way here to go for drinks; what Teaspoon also have are the very elegant shaved snow; just like in the picture; handcrafted to perfection. My fav boba spot in SF!!! The interior decorations are super cute and the ambiance is so chill here. I've also always had great experiences with the employees and they've always been super patient whenever I've had difficulty coming to to a decision! :) For fruit teas, my go-to is the Strawberry Sangria! It's a black tea with strawberry purée and I just love the contrast of the strong flavor of the tea with the sweetness from the strawberries. So bomb! I usually get this one 100% or 75% sweet. Since the pandemic started, I've been coming to Teaspoon almost every day because it's close to my apartment. I loved their drinks--up until mid-May when I noticed their boba tasted different. I called in to ask about it since I was dissatisfied with my drinks on 3 separate occasions. They finally tell me that they were forced to switch suppliers due to the pandemic. I'd wish they told customers ahead of time; if so, I would have ordered something other than boba as toppings. I haven't ordered from Teaspoon much the last two months because of the change. However, I just ordered today and realized that they increased the price (I order the exact same thing every time so I know how much it normally costs). The price increase isn't much--just about 5%, but it's unfortunate that not only did the quality go down, but the price also went up. It is now $12.20 for two drinks that are just average. read more

Honey boba which I like, its chewy and you can taste the honey. I got the **Taro Lover with taro chucks which I love but there wasn't any tea. Only milk which I prefer milk tea. The taro lover wasn't too sweet which was good and the taro chucks made it more tasty. Love sweet taro but I felt like they didn't give me enough. I got the **Roasted Oolong Milk Tea for my friend. She said its pretty good and not bad at all but her and I have pretty high standards when it comes to milk tea and boba. My other friend go the **Paradise Lime with aloe. He said its really good.
