Like Jody said sometimes the dogs are not thoroughly cooked, but that's happened to me here, at NFB location, at both Transit locations too. It's quint-essential Buffalo. Not that it's essential to have quints in Buffalo. Twins or triplets will do. Too expensive. But you must visit Ted's at least once to see what you think. They're a wonderful place. Their sausages are phenomenal, especially the Polish. You absolutely must try the Polish, it shoots hot juice into my mouth even more expertly than any man I've ever met. It's just so damn delicious. Give it a try and see what I mean. It's quintessentially Buffalo too, and usually open until 11pm. They don't take phone orders (they should). Their Italian sausage is excellent, their burgers are nice, their footlongs and regular dogs are better, and their Polish is the piece-de-resistance, whatever that means. It's good. Very good. And their chocolate milkshakes (with malt added) are muy excelente, if a little smallente. But also not as expensive as some shakes in the area and every bit as tasty. Ted's always disappoints me price wise. It looks cheap but next thing you know it's more than $10 for more than a snack. But it's excellent so I put up with it. Not a satisfying meal, but a wonderful snack. Which is why Akon did that song "Snack That" which was about Ted's. The Loganberry is also awesome, by the way. Customer service is among the best in my opinion, as they are typically willing to cook them darker if you like them a little charred, and are very good at making sure you've got everything you want. They are also very good at keeping your order together as you move down the line, though you may get asked what you ordered more than once as you get to the register. Ted's can get pretty busy, and the lines can get long no matter how quickly they may try to keep things moving. I noticed that it did take a while to get things moving, even with only two or three other people being in front of me, but I don't think you should rush perfection! I like this particular location over the others for some reason. Maybe because it's one of the older looking ones, and one I remember going to many times as a little kid. Pretty positive first experience here! Apparently, Ted's is an institution in Buffalo? I would never have guessed based on the humble exterior. You place your order, pay, and tell 'em how you want your dog dressed! There are plenty of "free" toppings including: pickles, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. The hotdogs/sausages are grilled right in front of you! To be honest, prices are a bit steep - hey, this is based on where I usually get hot dogs/sausages, at Costco where it is $1.50CAD, HUGE, and comes with a drink! A footlong (pork/beef), split (fries/onion rings) were like $4.70US each. Prices are on their website. I *hope* this is because the ingredients are better than grocery store hotdogs?? Fountain Drinks were ~$2.60US, but the small is pretty HUGE. I was tempted by the milkshakes, Ted's bar, but held back as I was pretty full. Splitting a footlong and having some of the fries/onions rings was pretty satisfying on its own. What I noticed was that neither of the items were doused in sodium. I got a regular foot long dog with a side of onion rings and extra Ted's hot sauce on the side for the dog and rings. As usual yummy! I've always found Ted's to be a little on the pricey side for the type of food it is but it's consistent, made to order food that gets it right almost every single time. I was here on a Saturday afternoon and they were slamming but still managed to get the line through relatively quickly. The experience of watching your food on the grill and having full customization of your order is something unique. I had the double cheese burger with bacon and it was excellent. Was perfectly grilled and the cheese was oozing off. The flavors all came together nicely and it is a huge upgrade over other fast food establishments. The fried were also good and freshly fried. I took my three-year-old son here on our weekly Mom-son lunch date. The line was not long at 11:45, it went by fast. The Lady in the grill was extremely nice and organized, the gentleman who was "dressing" the hotdogs and hamburgers was so nice to us, but the young lady checking out left us before we even paid to go somewhere else and said nothing to anyone. The gentleman that was dressing the hotdogs and hamburgers had to now take over the register as well until the other lady came back. My son's macaroni and cheese was delicious and hot and my hot dog with fries was great. There was a gentleman at the table behind us who spilled his drink because the lid popped off. I helped him clean it up off the table and told an employee. It took a while for two different employees to get the mop to clean up the mess. Placed my order at the grill moved down the line got to register girl Told me how much I paid and then it all Went down hill from there over charged me two Hot dogs couldn't figure out what to do next, have me the completely wrong order which I told Her several times after the Cook final figured it out I went and sat down and opened the kids meal and bags only had fries in them and a hat, when I ordered Mac n cheese and apple sauces so I went back up and was told I would have to wait in line are you kidding me so after telling her no you messed up the drink kid helped me and corrected the issue. The restaurant has a fun structure. You wait in line while reading the menu on the wall. You then place your order and watch the cooks char grill your food in front of you. The servers add whichever sides and toppings you instruct them to. You then pay for your meal and carry it away on a tray. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Ted's is especially fun to visit on a beautiful, sunny day in the summer. It is extremely child-friendly. The Kids' Meals come with a cute little paper hat, that kids seem to love. Until the Tedsmobile is officially on the road, I will continue to make the monthly, hour-long drive to Teds for one of their divine charbroiled creations on a hot dog bun. Pretty sure that when poets refer to Manna from Heaven, they mean a charbroiled hot dog from Teds. Buffalo does not know how lucky it is to have more than one Teds--actually, I think it does because Teds is always busy. Teds charbroils their hot dogs, hamburgers and sausage on a charcoal grill. Their hot sauce is homemade and their chili is too. Their onion rings are shoestring style and addictive. Teds looks like a timewarp into the 70s, probably because most locations are that old or older. The booths are hard and sometimes there is wood paneling. It's beautiful. My personal recommendation is to get the foot long hot dog with chili and cheese. Pair it with a medium loganberry, and get onion rings and fries. Grab a bottle of vinegar and a salt shaker and go to town. Try the new chipotle ranch dipping sauce on the onion rings, not the fries. The fries are sacred and should only be topped with vinegar and salt. You will never have a better hot dog, after you have Teds. Trust me. If you do, I will take you out to lunch. read more
