We had a fabulous meal here last night. Every dish was well prepared and tasty. And the staff were like family by the end of the night

Food was really good. We got a couple rolls and some edamame about a week ago, service was fantastic.

I really want to give 2.5 stars, but since I can't, and the food was decent, I decided to round up to 3. We had a party of 4 on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived, we were the only party there. We look at the menu and make our decisions. We try to order a sushi roll and the waiter says, "Sorry, we are out of Yellowtail" Isn't that almost a staple in sushi restaurants? Another group came in after we did and I overheard the waiter tell them the same thing when they ordered. Here's a tip....how about you inform your customers as you are seating them? This way they know what NOT to order and you don't have to waste time waiting for them to find something else to order. While waiting for our food, we called the waiter over and asked for tea. He brings a pot with 4 cups. Turns out they charge $2 per person for tea. That's another thing you should tell your customers...just so they don't look at the bill and say "$8 for tea?!"....like we did. We finally got our food and it was tasty. They're a little stingy on the tempura though. You only get 4 pieces. I know a place in SSF that gives you 8 very big pieces. Service was pretty slow as well. Again, we were the only party when we arrived so there should not have been much of a delay. By the time we left, there were maybe 3 or 4 other parties dining. Not once did the waiter come by to ask how things were going or if we needed anything else. We finished our food and sat there talking for about 10 minutes. We finally had to ask for our check. We picked this place because it's near my mom's house. I don't know if we'll be back. I would almost rather pick her up, drive to SSF to eat, and drive back to SF to bring her home! read more

My brother and I went in at 9, an hour before close, to order ramen. After asking how many were in our party, the staff claimed they were "sold out of everything." I call bullshit. Tataki Canyon was in this spot for years, and this never happened under their ownership. I was disappointed that Tataki Canyon shut down, and I hadn't attempted this place until now. I was in the area and decided to stop by Tekka House for a quick bite for dinner. The restaurant was fairly small but the décor was nice and modern. There were not many people inside dining and I was sat down at the bar right away. I believe I arrived an hour before they closed. The servers were very nice and attentive. The food was alright. It was good but very mandane. I ordered the Unagi Nigiri, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Chenery Roll. The Unagi was cooked nicely and they gave a nice portion. The rice for all of the orders had a good flavor, but it was not rolled tight enough and it kept falling apart. The tuna and salmon was cut into pieces and fell off the rolls. I wished the fish was cut more cleanly. Overall an alright experience. read more

Sorry to say but this place should not be charging $10 for a nigiri with THIN sliced fish and low quality food. $10 for calamari that looks like you could get it at Quickly, and to top it off, they took forever to serve us or even refill our drinks. It's wonderful to have this restaurant as the latest addition to Glen Park. Just opened a week ago, so they don't take reservations yet. (Open every day - see my pic for hours). The Saba tasted like it had just been plucked from the sea, so incredibly fresh! We could have eaten a whole fish. The Tonkotsu ramen had the full flavor of a rich broth that is usually very fatty and salty, this was neither. The noodles were thinner than usual, making the dish so much lighter. The only suggestion i have is to make the soft shell crab tempura a separate dish. If big slabs of sushi is your thing, this is NOT for you. Sashimi is sliced to perfection, and yes it makes a difference. Service is attentive, and we really appreciated the honesty of our server. The modern decor really works for this small place. I preface this by saying that I live around the corner and really want these people to succeed. So, they just opened. The first reviewer only gave this place 3 stars but didn't have anything negative to say, which I thought was weird. Now, here I am giving them three stars. Anyway, I'll get to the point: The good: the nigiri was pretty fresh and tasty. Waitstaff was super nice. The bad: Service is ROUGH, y'alls. I'd suggest giving them a few weeks before trying. It took 2 hours from being seated to paying/walking out with about 20 minutes of that being eating. The waitstaff is So Nice. I felt so bad for them. They know it's all going sideways and they really want to help you but they're just struggling like you are. It was a little like Memento. People would ask if you needed something, you'd tell them, 10 minutes later they'd ask again, you'd tell them and it's like the first conversation never happened. We were asked about 6 times if we were waiting for something by 3 different people but it still took over 30 minutes to get it. I think there were kitchen issues, frankly. There's a lot of what I'd describe as spectacle sushi on the menu. Like, where the sushi has a ton of mayo and sauce and artistic swirls. Not my thing, but if you like that, they do it well. The ugly: the karaage was a salt lick. Literally inedible. We had no intention of telling anyone at this point, but 2 different waitstaff asked us what we thought because other diners had complained. The waitstaff also volunteered to remove a few dishes from our bill because of our wait and the inedible karaage, which was nice of them. So, bottom line is that this place is promising with a decent menu and a very nice waitstaff. They're self-aware and they're trying but the system is still working itself out. I am hoping very much that when I go back in a few weeks I can update this review with more stars, because, guys, seriously, I'm rooting for you. read more

We slept on this place for quite a while because of the lackluster reviews, glad we finally took a gamble on it. Great little local Japanese restaurant in Glen Park. Good variety of sushi, ramen, rice bowls, and other small plates.... Something for everyone here. Service was fast and friendly. I really can't find anything to fault with this place and I'm excited to have something in our little neighborhood that serves up quality food in a nice (but not pretentious) setting. The Sushi is decent at this restaurant, but.... We ordered three take out meals which took them 1:15 to complete. when we got them home, we were shorted one complete meal. If you don't mind spending $14.00 for a small green salad and waiting over an hour for food that does materialize but you are charged for. Go for it... The food is delicious. Sushi fresh and good size. Soups chicken broth / ramen was very good and tasty. The ribs bowl is also very tasty and tender. I wish they would add more ribs. After trying a few Sushi spots in Glen Park, I was beginning to think I couldn't find good sushi near my GF's house.....but at last EUREKA!! Tekka House- you are now my go to spot in and around Glen Park. Highlights- The Miso Soup...It had everything you want in a Miso and at the perfect temp! The sashimi plate was super fresh and great big cuts. Sitting at the Sushi Bar, the Chef overheard that we were going to order a special roll, but couldn't because my GF is gluten free, we settled on a basic roll, which he secretly added an ingredient I wanted from the other roll...WOW! This place is very cute. Smiling faces great you, but not very traditional Japanese-style. I'm used to Vocalized greeting with a wet napkin. But the True reason I'm giving five stars to this place is because since I have been back from Japan I had yet to find a really good TONKATSU Ramen that has a creamy texture and full-flavored broth..... they've got it down! ICHI BAN and Mecha Oeyshi but don't tell IPPUDO I'm cheating! Aside from a delicious, fairly well priced Charshu spicy ramen from Heaven,.... the sushi is presented gorgeously, free Edamame with Yelp checkin, and a cup of tea.... I had a strong craving for sushi one night and decided to be a bit adventurous and try a new sushi place. I loved that it was really convenient and closeby to Glen Park Bart station. The thing that irked me the most was that the service was wayyyy too slow. It's a small restaurant and while it was filled, I felt like the 2 servers could have moved a lot faster than they did that night. I waited 15 minutes for my food to come out and the appetizers came after my sushi. The "bar" had benches for seating so that is a bit weird if you had multiple people trying to coordinate and sit on it. They had a special that the waiter told me about and so I ordered it from his recommendations and then 5 minutes later, I had the sushi chef tell me he doesn't recommend me to get it lol. Calamari wasn't on the menu but I saw another party had it so I asked for it as well. So not worth it. The amaebi was $12 which is a bit on the pricier side as I've had them for $9 or less. Probably won't go back for a while as this place left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. read more

I came by here once after work and it was OK. Definitely not something to remember. Food: 2/5 had the fried calamari and 2 rolls. One that had spicy scallops and one that had tuna. You could tell the fish wasn't that fresh. The only thing memorable to me was the sauces for the calamari. I would come back here for that just because of the sauces. Service: 3/5. The waiter was friendly. It was bit slow in there so service was slow but he was more attentive once a few more people walked in Ambiance: 4/5 it was cute decor. Nothing memorable but I loved that they had a private table in the window. It's a cute date night table! Our first meal at Tekka House did not disappoint! The quality and flavor of our dishes was wonderful. We are Ahi tuna poke fans mostly enjoyed in Hawaii, but Tekka House provided an equivalent experience. My husband enjoyed the Tempura Udon and my Tonkotsu Ramen had a delicious pork broth and perfect noodles. (This dish is Udon on the menu but you may ask for ramen.) We shared Matcha cheesecake for dessert that was just right. The service was excellent but the wine list could be improved a bit. read more

I have to eat here at least once a week just so I don't have withdrawals from this place. All the staff are super sweet and they have turtles in the front! But let's get to the food! Every roll is absolutely perfect, my favorite being the Rock and Roll and I've always been a sucker for the Raimbow Roll. I love all the appetizers, but the ones that get me giddy are the gomae and the gyoza.. seriously some of the best in the city! They give you six gyoza so you're not fighting with your mate over who gets the last one! That's pretty stellar, if you ask a foodie like myself! If you make it in there, don't forget to look at the specials menu! I always have my heart set on my favorites for my weekly ritual, so I almost never remember to look at it, but it always gets me wanting to come back and try something new whenever I remember to order something from the board. Now for the finale! This ramen is not the traditional ramen so I'll stop saying that word... My favorite "soup" dish that they serve is their Miso Udon! Nice local spot. A little pricey, but I don't mind because the quality of the sashimi is so fresh. Also, a huge fan of their spicy tuna. It's the softest tuna I've ever had and the heat is perfect. I don't think they drown it in mayo, or use mayo at all. They do all day specials of particular items, and they have two happy hours, Monday- Saturday, one from 5-6 and another from 9-10. Draft beer is only $4 during happy hour, and sake $5. I've only tried their shoyu ramen and I wasn't very impressed. The broth wasn't very flavorful and when I want ramen, I want a hearty broth.Their tonkatsu looks much better, so I will have to try next time. Their sushi is wonderful though. It took me like 15 years to finally try it, but finally made it to Tekka House! Has the pork giyoza and the tonkatsu ramen. Both were excellent. They also have craft Japanese beers on their menu which was a fun and much-welcomed variance from the standard watery Tsing Tao. I wouldn't have ordered beer, but I couldn't resist trying one and I was glad I did. Another extra perk is the soy sauce on t he table is delicious!! I dipping a dumpling in it, since I was sharing the gyoza dipping sauce with a friend and didn't want to double dip in that, and the soy tasted like it had miso! I asked the server and she said the chef makes their own soy sauce blend and it includes bonito flakes. Yum! The ramen was one of the best I've had and it's quiet a generous portion.
