Incredible ambiance and sunset view. Delicious food but location demands it be very pricey. Tram ride was very cool

My husband made us a reservation for Ten3 10 days in advance to celebrate our recent move to Albuquerque. They called the day of to confirm. We checked the website ahead of time for any specifics, dress code stated: "We have a Smart casual dress code in our dining room that we follow, smart casual is: Well fitting, neat and appropriate pieces that are slightly less formal than a business casual, hiking attire is not accepted in the Dining Room." It also underneath specifically said no leggings, sweat pants, or athletic attire. We got to the tramway base one hour ahead of our reservation, as instructed on the website, and headed up to the top. Immediately upon walking inside the hostess made a face at me and before we could even give our names or say a single word, she states they didn't allow anyone with jeans with rips inside the restaurant. Mind you, multiple people wearing jeans, dressed way less nice than I was, were allowed into the restaurant ahead of me (and the rips in my jeans were extremely minimal). We tried to explain we came all the way up there specifically for the reservation, and that we checked the website ahead of time for the dress code and it never stated that. The hostess wouldn't budge and was extremely insincere and acted irritated with us. The manager came over to talk to us as well and was the same way. We were not offered a reservation for another day, or any alternative at all. We were just straight up told our only option was to leave and take the tram all the way back down. It was embarrassing and demeaning. Even other guests waiting in line behind us were saying how ridiculous it was and that they should have let us in. So, we left and went to Ruth Chris instead (without changing). Obviously the views up there are unbeatable (hence the extra star). But the way we were treated and the lack of communication about the dress code was extremely off-putting. Hesitating even going back. However, I really do wish we were able to actually experience the restaurant. read more

Denied us seating at bar because my sister had an out of state "vertical ID"even though it showed she was of age. My sister said she would just order food & the female bartender was very rude about it, got management and rushed us out without giving any explanation. Sad I will not be returning, I have dined on both sides multiple times but will not tolerate rude disrespectful behavior towards family. read more

This was one of the most difficult restaurants to get in, not in terms of reservation availability, but in terms of how much physical effort you have to put into getting there. It was the most fun and memorable experience for me, but my two scared-cat family were so terrified to get there. It was all because we had to take Sandia Peak Tramway to get there. The ride was 15 min with amazing close up views of the mountains and canyons. The line to get on the tram was over 1 hr for us. It was well worth for me, but may not be for everybody. The food was delicious with no complaints. Some of the food options were quite fancy, e.g. the free homemade butter with Hawaiian black volcano salt paired with bone marrow crisps. It was reasonably priced, not over the top for how much effort the crew has to get the ingredients and their own bodies up and down the mountains everyday. It was one of my most memorable culinary experiences because of the breathtaking view at 10,300 ft above sea level. I finally realized why the restaurant is called "Ten 3." It was named after its elevation. Get it? The service was punctual and friendly. Kudos to the crew to make this fine dining experience available at such an unique and magnificent but difficult place. Please advise your Caucasian manager with the tatoos that the days of asking colored folks to go to the back of the bus are over. Telling us she can seat us elsewhere in the lounge showed elements of racism which she passed off as inappropriate attire.But her demeanor and manner told the truth. We were met at the entry by two beautiful ladies who said "you're checked in". Then one of them escorted us to Ten and turned us over to the nice hostess there. As she was ready to escort us to our table, this other woman came and blocked our entry. She eyed us with disgust. Sweatpants aren't allowed she said to me. I said These are evening tights. (Dkny) These are certainly not sweatpants. Oh well it's sportswear (pardon me? Who could exercise in this ! She continues...Well we can seat you in the lounge. I said I didn't book the back of the house and I am vegan. I came for this menu and the ambiance and view. I come every time I am in New Mexico. It's my 3rd visit here. She replied : oh they have fries. Fries?? I told her it's clear we're not welcome so we will leave. It was 5:15pm. We were the ONLY customers. With this Kind of manager Perhaps it'll stay that way - empty. Certainly we felt racially profiled by this woman. It's not just what she said but how she said it and the way she looked at us - like you don't belong here. No smile. Just like with disgust. Like we were not good enough. Remember 3 other hostesses had okayed us to be seated. Those ladies were elegant and smiling and nice! That manager should be the one to cover her arms and dress appropriately.Anyway just a horrible experience that should never have happened in this day and age! Just shocking. Polite hostess got us a nice window table in bar after a 15 minute wait. 20 minutes later, we left after no one provided any service of any kind to the table. Within the previous 9 months or less a friend related a trip to the restaurant where a question about gluten free items was met with a perceived rude response. We will never eat there again. 30 min. for starters , good, but then we waited for 1.5 hours for our food. I complained to the manager, the food came out in less than 5 min. Service bad. Food ok. Not sure about fine dining. Of course we will not go back for either. And we said that last time we were there. we suggest bring a pick nic for the mountian top. read more

PRETENTIOUS. Wearing shorts and t-shirt at 1:00 pm after coming up the tram, I expected easy food. Nope, not here. The greeter was dressed in an evening dress. The rest of the staff looked more normal-jeans and appropriate shirts. The food is pricy, but excellent. The kids menu is reasonable. But there is no hamburger; they offer a bison-burger for $31. I had the Caprese Sandwich for only $21. Upon asking what 'burrata' was, the nice waitress informed me it was cheese. I didn't know the definitions of many other words on the menu. The sandwich was very good. Only the east half of the restaurant is open; the west half with a great view of Albuquerque and beyond is saved for dinner. I shared our experience with neighbors later. They had heard it was expensive. I miss the days of High Finance where despite the scary name, there were twice the number of tables, an affordable menu and a great view of Albuquerque all afternoon. Here is the truth: you pay $33 RT to ride the tram up to dinner (and back). Ceaser salad and margarita were fabulous. The ambiance is strange. You can hear the waiters calling in the food like you are at a Waffle House. The waiters and sous chefs and chef all yelling at each other. People in jeans, people in ball gowns. We split a ribeye for $60 plus a $15 sharing charge. It came out cold TWICE! They call it grilled but we watched them pre-prepare steaks and stick them in a warmer. Veggies - ice cold. Manager didn't care and chef told me there was no way it was 30 minutes between salad being picked up and steak being served, but it was. Hmm...we expected more from a place claiming to be 'fine dining' and for the price. Add in cost of the tram to get up there and you can expect to drop a big chunk of change. We started off with drinks at the bar. We sat at a table then I caught the eye of the bartender who turned on her heels. A few minutes later the hostess came over and told us we could sit at the bar, not the tables. It would have been nice to have been told that before we sat down. The service was less than stellar. Even though our host told us how good our server was before we even sat down, I got the impression that he was new to the 'fine dining' server scene. He was nice enough but He bumbled the specials, he never asked us if we wanted another round of drinks and after dinner when I asked for a box for my leftovers, he forgot but blamed others, 'I asked them to help...', trailing off...and then I boxed my own. How much longer do we need to give Grace to restaurants in our post-pandemic world? My husband had the Little Gem salad...Little Gem is the name of the lettuce and based on the few leaves and the dominant chunks of tomato and 1/2 pound of mozzarella, it should be renamed to tomato mozzarella on a bed of lettuce. My salad, spring greens, was delicious. The entrees were very good. My husband had the filet and I had the pork chop. I was very surprised at how thick the chop was. Dessert... creme brûlée...don't bother. The sugar layer was not uniform and the center was so thick that I couldn't crack it so there was no way to get a taste of caramelized sugar in every bite of creme. It was served in a filo dough bowl ‍. Not good. Would have preferred the standard ramekin. And to top it off, it was dusted with powdered sugar. Probably to cover up the burnt sugar layer. I am glad we went but we don't need to go back. I'd rather spend my fine dining dollars at Antiquity. Ps: the women's bathroom...3 stalls, one out of order, one had a broken lock and the other was handicapped. Again...I expect more. Pss: I overheard the hostesses make derogatory comments about the incoming load of guests getting off the tram. Beware! Abusive customer service We live in the area and have been in the a couple of times. The food is fine but there is a 20-30% up charge due to location. We usually take out-of-town guests here for the views but recently had a terrible interaction that was almost abusive by the floor manager, Krista. We were running late due to an emergency my husband had in clinic. We were not outside the 20 minutes grace period when we arrived but the floor manager, Krista, refused to allow us to be seated because could not be late at all. Apparently, if you take a later reservation the 20 minute grace period doesn't apply even thought that's not written on the website, via Open Table, or communicated to you by the staff prior to the reservation. We tried to explain we had a work emergency at clinic but she said that was "no excuse". She was so incredibly rude and unprofessional. She berated my husband for not being early. Then, for no seeming reason except to be cruel, she threatened to charge us $200 dollars for "canceling". We tried to reason with her, for the sake of our guests; we offered to be out in an hour so her staff wouldn't lose money but she still refused. It was clear when we first talked to her that she did not care if we came back or not. Her abrasive and hostile behavior was so out of proportion it was embarrassing for her and the restaurant. We were hosting international guests who commented they had never been treated so poorly despite traveling on four continents. I would assume she feels she can act this way because they have so many tourists l, they assume they can treat people poorly. Because of her behavior we really can never come back nor can we recommend this to anyone lest they also have to deal with Krista. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but I want to be honest. Issues for the Formal dining: pretentious waitstaff, non-accommodating for allergies, paying for scenery more than dining experience. Worth trying at least once though. I was very excited to try this high end restaurant-specifically the formal dining, especially as a transplant from another state. It's located at the top of the Sandia mountains, getting to the top is $29 to ride the tram (cost could vary on the time of year) and beautiful is an understatement for the views. It requires a reservation. The formal dining area is very elegant with large windows that overlook the city. My sister and came in our best formal dresses. But right away I could tell that the waitress didn't think we were the "right" crowd. She was a little off-putting and condescending. We ordered drinks, which were tasty but just as delicious as drinks served for half the price at restaurant/bars at the bottom of the mountain or in the heart of the city. The food was pretty good but nothing that entirely blew me away. We were served with bread that arrived after our main course, and our waitress gave us a hard time because she assumed we had already eaten the bread. My sister is allergic to pine nuts and the majority of the dishes has pine nuts in it. She tried to order the "chicken chop" without pesto and the waitress informed us "pesto is what makes the dish" and didn't even ask the chef if that could be an option. She ended up trying the wedge salad with bone marrow salt (which she said was delicious) and ordered jumbo lump crab cake. The crab was fabulous and very fresh. I ordered the Pappardelle, thinking my sister would be able to at least try or have a bite of that. But they also put pine nuts in the pasta which wasn't clearly displayed on the menu before I ordered it. They give palate cleansers between courses and at the end of the meal they give chocolate truffles which is a nice touch. Overall I would say the biggest take away was feeling degraded by the waitress. I think if we had a different waiter the experience would have been better. The scenery and the view romanticize the dining, but I think you can have just as delicious food at the bottom of the mountain and in the city for a more affordable price. Definitely has an appeal for tourists or patrons that are looking to feel "exclusive" or "elite". I don't think I'll be dining in the formal area again but I would be willing to try the casual dining area which is a first come first serve, no reservations or dress code required. Don't take my word for it alone, go check it out for yourself just so you can say you dined at the top of a mountain! read more

Working as a server at a fine dining restaurant, I understand things happen but the way this situation was handled was what enticed me to write this review. We had a reservation in which they never told us over the phone there was a tram ride necessary to reach the restaurant. After furthering reviewing the restaurant I can see multiple people have had a similar experience. We were so excited to dine here and the tram employees informed us they do this often. We were in town for the Balloon Fiesta and many restaurants are booked and we drove 30 mins to no avail. They cancelled our reservation and at any rate we are glad we didn't dine here now with which such awful customer service. read more

I'm visiting from CA and heard this restaurant was a great activity. I really wanted it to be amazing but unfortunately it's run by people who are overbearing and have no customer service skills. I booked my reservation two months ago for a Monday night. I knew it may be busy on the weekends and wanted to guarantee my seats by booking early. I completed my reservation on Open Table but when I spoke to the host to confirm my reservation they wanted me to give my credit card information over the phone. I'm 100% ok with reserving a table with my information using a secure payment method, but I'm not ok with freely giving my card information over the phone. When I told the host about being uncomfortable, she was rude and said " we'll just cancel your reservation". Wow! After having this planned for two months, getting treated poorly was definitely not what I expected. I'm glad it happened before I spent my time and money going to for a great experience only to be treated poorly. My friends suggested Tucanos in Downtown Albuquerque instead. read more

Ten3 has never disappointed, and this last experience was no exception. In fact, the experience on this third trip was so exception I felt compelled to leave a review for others looking for a similar experience. Our party of six arrived a little early for our 7:00 reservation after the pleasant trip up the tram. The staff was able to accommodate our early arrival and took us to our seats almost immediately. It all started with our server, Joe, who went above and beyond our expectations, even for a nicer restaurant. He was quick to take orders, refill drinks, and clean up empty plates. One of the nicest touches, however, was that every time someone from our party went to the restroom he would go to the table and refold their napkin for them and would make himself present to pull our chairs for people as they returned the table. He was personable, fun, attentive, and made thoughtful recommendations on the menu based on queries from our group. We started with two of the three different breads they were serving that night - the rosemary bread was so delicious that they ran out just before our arrival (understandable considering we were one of the last tables to seat for the night). The butter they served with the bread was creamy, like frosting for your bread, with some sort of seed mixed in. Joe took our cocktail orders while we browsed the appetizers and broke bread. The bar was nearly finished with our drinks before we settled on appetizers for the table. The drinks were masterly crafted throughout the night and the bar and drinks are easily among the best in Albuquerque. I started with a margarita which was crafted with a house-made jalapeno syrup, rimmed with a green chile salt, and had a roasted green chile "chip" as garnish inside the drink - I highly recommend. I also had their version of an Old-Fashioned which was also delicious. My wife ordered one of her favorite drinks which was off-menu and she said it was one of the best she had as well. We placed out salad and entrée orders and were enjoying our drinks when the first appetizers - the squash blossom - arrived in about the amount of time as our drinks had, and then the foie gras arrived only a few moments later. I am not a fan of fried food or liver so neither appetizer is my preference but in a group of six you make some concessions. The Squash Blossom was lightly-ish fried and really good especially for a fried food. The foie gras was good (for liver) but I would not personally order it. The person at the table who does enjoy liver said it was better than the foie gras they had in France (which was admittedly not a high-quality version). Our entrees arrived shortly after we finished the appetizers and Joe took additional drink orders which is when I swapped to trying their old-fashioned. I ordered the pork chops, but also around the table others had ordered the T-bone steak, mac and cheese, and lamb chops. I had lamb chops on a previous trip and those remain my favorite that I have had, though the T-bone that my wife ordered is a close second. On this trip I ordered pork chops which were cooked to perfection, but the standout was the polenta. We finished with desserts of which the peanut butter chocolate dessert was the table's favorite. I just went for a cappuccino which was a nice cap for the night and provided a little additional warmth against the cold summer breeze at the top of the mountain. read more

We so looked forward to dinning here. All of the ingredients for a first class meal just wasted. Too much volcanic salt in the butter, and rice. Horseradish flavor overpowered the steak tartar, too much was I on the tuna tartar. The chocolate peanut butter desert was uninspiring. Great wine and drink list. English sparkling water and great service allowed two stars. Overcooked sea bass and undercooked rice. Perhaps they are better with meat or vegetarian cuisine. Visit date October 24, 2020 4pm- 6pm Disappointed. After 1.5 hours, my sister's fiancé checked our place in line. A young woman states Yes, she could seat him now...your party has to be present. Me, aunty and the twins came inside as requested. The lady looked at us and said oh my mistake, I actually don't have a table. Carry out is available. We waited another 30 min (2 hours) and she stated a table is still not available for us but carry out is. We finally left. Funny thing Is a table was ready when they saw Jay, a white man but immediately unavailable when she saw his native family. Just another day in a world of covert biases. It's ok we left after being turned down a second time. It's still a beautiful place though and I'm sure the food is decent? The gent Al man at the front sat us down and it was good until... the waiter had his hands and arms on the counter talking at the bar. We walked in as a group of 5 he looked at us and NEVER came over. We sat there for at least 2 minutes without someone coming over to check on us, or even ask us what we wanted to drink. It wasn't until I said something, another customer said to the waiter "they left because you didn't wait on them" the young boy still stood there and just stared at the customer. There are two parts to the restaurant. we ate at the fine dining area. I grew up in ABQ so have been up the tram many times. Best to get tram tickets on-line the day ahead of time--cost $25-30 each but well worth the view--and getting out of the 100 degree heat for a few hours was priceless--it is 25-30 degrees cooler at the top and if windy it is cold once the sun goes down so bring an appropriate jacket. They called us before hand with a dress code (no hats, athletic apparel or hoodies-LOL). This code was followed by us but I saw plenty of shorts and flip flops--who cares-it's 100 degrees at the start. At 4:45pm on a Thur it was easy to park and we went right into the tram with pre-bought tkts. Both up and down in the tram the operators were excellent--very friendly, engaging and pointing out several landmarks along the way. Up at the restaurant things got a little confusing--we were a bit early for the dinner reso, but couldn't get a drink because they said there was a long wait (NM is not quite "opened up" due to low vaccine rate--come on folks get your vaccines!). we hiked down to observation deck and got paged in 2 minutes that the table was ready--schlepped back up and seated-.... but it didn't seem like "fine dining with a dress code"--we asked and they had seated us in the bar area--we picked up and stood in the lobby for 15 min. Not a huge deal but the disorganization was a touch annoying. Finally seated--excellent view-nice partial shades to keep the sun and heat down but keep the views. We watched two guys put together hang gliders 90 ft outside our window with the hopes of jumping off the edge (10,300 ft up!!). Alsa, too windy. Waiter asked what type of water and relatives answered bottled--they brought 4 big bottles of water--one for each person and made it into a show as 2 waiters poured them into all of our glasses. I always just drink tap so I was surprised. It turns out that they charged us $8 per bottle ($32 for water!!!)--in my opinion outrageous-i don't mind spending money but i hate surprises. On a similar note the waiter presented the dinner special but I had to ask him the price--again in my opinion I shouldn't have to ask. Pre dinner drinks were good but overpriced. Nice wine selection but also overpriced (maybe it's just because I'm used to California wine prices). I liked the dinner selections-expensive but not overpriced for the quality of ingredients, view/ambiance and overall good service. I got rack of lamb--a huge amount of prime lamb meat--much more than the usual rack (all 4 of us got to try it). Others 3 got the scallop/shrimp special. These were very good-not overcooked and good amount. In fact 2 of our party shared the entree and payed the $12 split charge. Well worth it as they got more than half of the meal each, the aperitif, bread. No room for desert. So, great views and ambiance, expensive drinks, quality entrees for appropriately high price and beware of the water-LOL. Good for a special night out. read more

Our visit to Ten-3 was the ultimate highlight of our New Mexico vacation, especially since we hiked 7.5 hours to get there! It was a totally awesome day. The first thing we did was celebrate with a glass of fabulous Champagne while overlooking all of Albuquerque as the sun set. All the food was divine, and our waiter Lorenzo was just terrific. He was friendly, welcoming, and very generous with his time and affection. This is a once-in-a-lifetime type of restaurant experience, especially if you are visiting from out-of-state like we were. Everything about it was amazing. We rode the tram off the mountain, last carriage of the day! Wonderful memories made! read more

The food and service here were wonderful! Beautiful views outside. I recommend checking the weather before you go cause we got stuck at the top for about 2 hours since there was some lightening and rain. The complimentary honey bread was delicious. The forest mushrooms were good, however it was sitting in too much oil. Both entrees that we ordered were tasty. Food is definitely on the pricey side for dinner, but overall it was very well prepared. You also have to purchase tram tickets separately, which is another $30 per person roundtrip. read more

The location is an experience in and of itself. The Tram ride, the views from the top of the mountain, the sunset and the decor of the restaurant were magical. The food was remarkable. The bartenders were super friendly. The general manager, Bill provided us with incomparable customer service. He was attentive, professional, courteous and genuinely interested in ensuring that our dining experience was top notch.... AND IT WAS!! This is one of Albuquerque's top 5 places to visit. read more

Only had to wait 15 mins for the regular dining experience. Quite a few cocktails to choose from and beer menu. Selected the vegetable side and the roasted brussel sprouts were expertly toasted. Brisket sandwich was marinated nicely. Grilled portobello stacker had way to much pickled onions which took away from the portobello. Yet, the service lagged at times. Check out this place if you need a bite to eat, but don't expect much. I will need to try the fine dining experience and see how they compare. read more

Epic food! So I was definitely skeptical about eating at what I thought was a typical ski resort restaurant which are usually run down and nothing great. This was by far the best one I've ever eaten at and was not even a ski resort restaurant at all. It was so much better than that. The food was on point and so was the service. We got some drinks, a golden beat salad with pine nuts which was out of this world and the best beef brisket fries I've ever had in my entire life! The brisket was perfect trimmed so you didn't have to cut and fell right apart in your mouth. I would definitely take the tram up again just for the restaurant! Bottom line: I really enjoyed that brisket sandwich, and the sweet potato side, unexpectedly cold, was a great counter-point to the hefty stuffing mah belly was taking. But there are a ton of points to cover in this review so let's get to 'em, first things first: 1. Only accessible via tram ride, you'll want to plan a good two hours plus for a meal. You'll also pay separately for the tram ride, so there's that. 2. The venue is actually two spaces -- and I've suggested they make a separate Yelp listing for the bar area, and call it Ten 3 Lounge. That's where I sank my teeth into a reasonably priced, delicious brisket sandwich. The bar menu is affordable and the view of the ski resort is well worth the tram ride. 3. The main dining area, overlooking the city, is breathtaking even by day. Entrees there run $30-$50, so it's really designed for special events and nights with yer sweetheart, even if you're your own sweetheart. Treat yo'self. 4. While we New Mexicans rarely worry about the weather, this place gets held hostage often. If our dreaded high winds break a certain threshold, the Ten 3 must close, leaving sweethearts brokenhearted, and staff tipless. So just keep that in mind when you make a reservation. 5. All of this adds up, to me, to a place I would absolutely plan a day in the Sandias around. Go up early, hike or ski, and close with an early afternoon chow session with a craft cocktail or local beer. The immense work (not to mention cost) associated with constructing this marvel is astonishing enough; you'd spend the same at a great steakhouse, but ain't nobody in this city got this view. 6.
