I was interested in all the appetizers, but for some reason flop sweated and panic ordered the steamers. Don't get me wrong, they were tasty and only had a tiny bit of sand. This restaurant is not friendly to non-locals. If you're a tourist, DO NOT COME HERE. We were told that the wait was 40 mins and we came back in 30. We left our number and they told us they would call us. The waiter/hostess then sat another party that arrived after us then told us that we could wait another 20 mins or come back another day. 10 Yen is a 5 star dining experience. The concept is different. Very small. Only 6 to 7 diners. The staff seems to consist of only two people: a sushi chef and a kitchen chef who puts together all of the non-sushi dishes. They have 3 seating's per night, on the nights that they are open: 5, 6:30, and 8 PM. The presentation is very well done. You visit with staff and the other diners at the bar. Not rushed, very relaxed, and the sushi and other dishes are excellent. The Sushi Chef was well trained and had a very good way of interfacing with his customers. They have a wide variety of ramen, poke, nigeri sushi, and sushi rolls. I suspect that most diners opt for the chef's choice 5 or 7 tasting menu. I had the 7 course. It was just the right amount of food. It was $10 more than the 5 course, but with a long island duck rice bowl and two extra sushi, it was worth the extra cost. My wife had a Salmon Poke and a Deluxe California roll. She was very happy with that particularly when I shared some of my sushi, duck, and ramen with her. Wine, beer, and cocktails are limited, but well done. I had a Black Manhattan, which was excellent. I followed up with a Japanese rice lager, Koshihikaro Exhigo, which tasted very clean and crisp. A very good palate cleanser for the sushi, Some of the other diners were drinking a sparkling rose that would have also paired well with the sushi. The only negative observation that I would make was that the decor/ambiance of the restaurant was more "hole in the wall ramen bar" rather than a first rate sushi bar which is what 10 Yen is. I get that many sushi bars have a minimalist decor and that they have only been open since April, but I would encourage these gentlemen to consider stepping up the ambiance. Doesn't have to be much, but a little more work on the ambiance would make it even better. 10 Yen will close for the season in early November. The sushi chef is then going to Japan to bring back new ideas for us to try next year. In January 2018, they will have a 30 day pop up restaurant in Dennis (?) to try out some of what he learns. A phone call to 10 Yen will give more information on the pop up restaurant. We have already made our reservation. When 10 Yen reopens next year we will be back. Given the attitude of these two chefs, 10 Yen, which is already an excellent dining experience, will even get better. read more

I am astonished that this little sushi gem is in Harwichport. The four of us opted for the 5 course tasting menu and upgraded to the 7 course (from $44 to $54/person) after the first two knocked it out of the park. Everything was outstanding. If you want to put yourself in the hands of a young master chef who limits settings to 6 at a time so that he can focus full attention to every last detail, this is the place. Great Asian cuisine, perfectly executed. I've been waiting for someone to have the balls to open a badass noodle/sushi bar locally. Only place to fill that craving has meant traveling to Boston. Not a ton of seats, which could be a problem in the future but I highly recommend take out. Dining in is also great if you plan ahead and make a reservation. Just had an amazing lunch at 10 Yen. We got the tasting menu which started with torched tuna followed by a delicious spinach salad with spicy garlic scallops. Then a sushi course onslaught where the chef delivered a piece at a time like the film Jiro dreams of Sushi. Probably around 10 pieces with standouts being the king mackerel and the salmon. A small bowl of Ramen with pork belly finished the meal. Definitely a win for the cape as It was as good as eating at a place like cafe sushi in Cambridge. Nice staff too! read more

I have never been more offended. I thought about claiming it as fraud on my credit card. I got 2 small rolls and 2 small apps and it was $90. I guess, In the end I can only blame myself. I knew the owner of the Mad Minnow was part of this new conglomeration and that should have stopped me in my tracks. If you haven't been, don't. Much like Three Monkeys, it serves overall bland and uninventive food for with top shelf price tags. But sadly it's just another mediocre cape cod fool, In love with himself and the prospect of running a business that he has no pride in creating something that would withstand any sort of competition.
