The only reason I gave them one star because I couldn't give them zero. My family and I were regulars here since the opened. Good food selection but over the years I've seen it deteriorate. We went today for back to school dinner with my kids, pretty routine. During our dinner my husband saw a roach crawling up the back of the booth. We quickly wrapped up and went straight to the desk at the front. We notified the hostess and they both seemed untrained on how to handle a complaint like this. We asked to speak with a manager and was told they would not be available for 10-15 minutes. We decided not to wait but to leave our number for the manager to call us and we would return in about a half hour. The manager Kent called my husband about 20 minutes later and long of the short offered 15% off our next meal initially. We declined and subsequently he offered to refund one of the four meals we paid for. We again declined and requested to speak with him in person. We immediately headed back to the restaurant and met Kent at the front. After introducing himself to Kent, my husband was completely ignored. They refunded us our money without even explaining what was happening. We were quickly handed a void receipt and cash. No conversation, explanation or the slightest apology. We stood for a few moments waiting for some sort of acknowledgment and received nothing. Needless to say, we filed a complaint with PG County Health Dept. We also warned a few patrons on the way out. Ehh....no. The food looked pretty and well presented, and there was a large selection of items but everything tasted like "mystery meat". I kept wanting to try different things, but it all had the same rubbery texture. I did enjoy the crab rangoons and the spring rolls though. I don't plan on coming back. Decent restaurant. There were a few tour buses there so it was pretty crowded, but that means that there was good food turnover so most of the trays were fresh. have been eating here about once a month for 5 years. overall I feel the food is fresh and taste is consistent. they don't skimp on spices for dishes like hot-n-sour soup, and there is a pretty good selection of chinese and western dishes. under $10.99 for weekday lunch with drink (including coffee if you want) can't be beat. p.s. if you go between 11-11:30 you probably will see the manager having lunch there, so I doubt if they are doing anything nasty to the food like some of their cousins across the pond. read more

I came to this place starving and ready for some good food. I was extremely dissapointed. I start out with General Tso's chicken with rice as well as sushi. Well, some of the rice was so undercooked it was crispy! The chicken was lukewarm and way too sweet. And the sushi was horrible! The rice, once again, was undercooked and crispy. I tried their macaroni and cheese. I never thought I'd say this, but it was too cheesy! I tried their sushi again. It was stale and dry. Disgusting! I thought I'd have a cookie. It was stale and dry as well! The atmosphere was dingy and tacky, the servers were rude, the bathroom was filthy and FREEZING, it must have been 50 degrees! I'm not exaggerating. "Meh" describes the place pretty well in my opinion. I've eaten at lots of buffets and this one is nothing special. The food wasn't particularly good, the restaurant was very crowded and the place was really loud. The wait staff was very pleasent but a little hard to understand, especially with the noise level. love this place, my boyfriend and i enjoy the tasty foods here a lot, although not everything here is #1 but i already knew that since it is after all a buffet not a restaurant where it is famous for certain things. the waitresses that we have are always friendly and also the owner is nice as well. we enjoy coming here a lot and we've been coming here to eat for the past 2 years. it is one of our favorite places to go to! :) but i must warn you it is quite noisy in there. read more

I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT THIS PLACE!! It was MY FIRST TIME THEREand it was a total 9 of us and we all had coupons for 1$ off a meal which they would not except!! According to the "manager" Cindy, she stated that they except one code a day from the coupons AND THAT CODE WAS ALREADY USED?? ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME???? As far as Chinese buffets go, this one is horrible. We had to send Marco Polo to find hibachi chefs since there weren't any at the actual grill. Salmon was dry, green beans lacked flavor and the seaweed salad from the sushi bar tasted like it had been sitting there for weeks. read more

This is one of several in the area that's driven many other Chinese buffets out of business with low prices. The best thing about this place is it's well stocked. Nothing annoys me more than empty trays common in other AYCE places. Here trays are constantly being refilled or replaced with another item. It's my favorite AYCE buffet. read more

Well, where to start, this place is not bad compared to most buffets in maryland, the food is great there is a huge variety. There is a sushi bar, shrimp, crabs, oysters, fish, and a large variety of dessert. I'm not going to say its amazing but i am going to say that this place is good it's nice, clean, good waiters, and the restaurant looks like a night club (which i liked). The price is very good compared to most buffets that are terrible. I definitely recommend this place and hope you check it out. read more

I work nearby and the staff is very friendly and for the price great selection in food. The sushi is always been good, some foods better then others and I have noticed can even depend on the day. For the price point I would say its dead on for what you get. read more

The food was ok...your typical grill buffett line-up. . nothing special compared to their competitors. However, I have decided not to patronize this or any other buffett establishment of this type again (Hibatchi grill, etc.), after I witnessed an employee who did not adequately wash her hands after using the toilet. I usually do not eat at buffetts of this type due to the massive waste of food, and underlying concerns I instinctively harbored regarding hygenic practices. However, I was attending an event in someone's honor and decided to make an exception because I like this person very much. While washing my hands, an employee came out and sprinkled water on her hands for about 3 seconds and walked out of the door to go back to work. At that point, I had already had 5 plates of food to include oysters. I was very concerned about getting sick the next day which fortunately did not happen. Coupled with lack of adequate handwashing, they serve risky foods such as uncooked sushi and raw oysters....a bad combination that spells food poisoning. Please beware. read more

My wife and I happen to drive by this restaurant and we decided to try it out. I believe the site once housed Shoney Restaurant. The place appears consisting of 2 parts. One side is bright with small tables and pleasant, the other side appears aged and has many long tables for large groups. We were unfortunately being led to the dumpy side where the noise made conversation somewhat difficult. Both the quality of the food and the price are about average for a Chinese buffet. Comparing to several nearby buffet restaurants that we have tried, Teppanyaki is better than "Fortune Stars" (out of business recently) in Jesseup and the other buffet restaurant in Ellicott City (I forgot the name), but falls far behind Tyson buffet in Rockville. We live in Columbia, we won't make special trip to this restaurant, but if we happen to be in the area , then I don't mind to go in for a simple diner. read more

Started coming here about a year ago after having a bad experience at Empire (literally everything I picked up was cold) and have been coming back at least once or twice a month. The hostesses, the wait staff, and the managers are really nice and are willing to comply with seating requests as long as it is not too crowded. The atmosphere is the nicest I have ever seen in a buffet. The food is usually pretty good especially if you come for late lunch and dinner. I like a lot of the seafood which can tend to go quick on the weekends, but that only means they continue to bring it out more if you didn't get any on your first round. They have alright sushi, but I usually get the raw shrimp and fish on rice with a little spicy mayo. They have a variety of desserts and fresh fruits, including a chocolate fountain. BEWARE OF THE PRICING SCAM. Their advertisements clearly state the lunch prices as being until 3:30, except on Sunday. I recently went as a party of 6 for lunch on a Saturday. The price came up extremely high. Upon checking for the reason, they were charging dinner prices during the lunch time frame, including charging adult dinner prices for kids. I confirmed the 3:30 time cutoff, showed them the advertisement, and pointed out that their own clock still showed several minutes before 3:30. Other patrons brought out their cell phones and showed that it was still before 3:30. After a while, the manager came and it was still before 3:30. All I got was rudeness from several workers including "come back another day if you want lunch" from the manager. Needless to say, we left and will not be coming back. Please check your bill prior to paying to prevent this from happening to you. read more

Have eaten there a few times but don't think I could ever go back. The food is average but when they run out there is no more. The service was horrible considering our server was yelling at us because she couldn't communicate our drink order, never cleared our plates or refilled our drinks. Ate here on 05-25-2013 around 7PM for the first time. I first had to wait about 5 minutes to pay, then another 5 minutes to be seated (two separate lines). My seating process was disorganized, since the seater had us follow her around the restaurant until she found a vacant table. The four of us were seated at a table that blocked another table, so 2 of us had to keep getting up when the people from the other table came and went--NOT GOOD! The place was jammed packed and very noisy. The drink/plate person (hard to call staff servers or waitress/waiter at a buffet) arrived promptly and was attentive throughout our meal. The non-dessert buffet was huge and a lot of selection, the dessert buffet was larger than most of the other Oriental-type buffets that I have eaten at. Surprisingly, dessert included at least 6 flavors (could be 8, I can't remember) of all you can eat hard ice cream instead of the soft serve junk. The cookies and cream ice cream tasted good to me, and I had 2 servings of it--I used a soup bowl instead of the small ice cream bowls for my ice cream. The only other time that I encountered an Oriental buffet with hard ice cream was in Virginia Beach. Like with all restaurant reviews, it's impossible to say whether food was good or bad to cover all people's tastes, since there as many tastes as people (as there as many religions as people), but based on my own sense of taste, the non-dessert food was more than acceptable. The green beans were a little undercooked, but definitely not raw. The cheese pizza was the best that I have eaten at an Oriental buffet, with the cheese having at least some flavor and the crust was very fresh. The spinach and cheese was no better/no worse than other buffets. The shrimp and black pepper was good, especially since it the shrimp was not fried. The BBQ chicken pieces were good the first round, but not so good the second round (too much "guck" on them, the best explanation for this it is that the pieces were not trimmed well). The yellow rice with veggies was also no better/no worse than other places, just colored rice with little flavor except for the veggie pieces. The rest of the food that I had tasted about the same as any other Oriental buffet that I have eaten at. I didn't try it out since I don't like waiting in lines and I already waited in 2 two many getting into this place, but they also had a stir-fry (not sure if this the best word) section where you could select your own veggies and meats, and they would cook it in front of you. The meats included small whole steaks with little fat, so I might have missed out on something good. I would come back to this place, but hopefully during a less busy time: 1 star for the selection, 1 star for hard ice cream, and 1 star for the taste of the food (just for being average and not worse). I docked 1 star for the placement of the table (customers should not need to get up for other customers) and noise, and 1 star for the food only tasting average. Parking is plentiful, but I suggest parking on the shopping center side instead of on the entrance to the restaurant side. I didn't use the bathroom and cannot comment on their cleanliness, but I did peek in several of the staff areas and did not see any debris on the floors. read more

A MUST READ!!!!!!!!!! When I first discovered Teppanyaki Grill in Laurel, MD, maybe in 2011-2012, my friends and I would always go there after church. It was always crowded but we would never have to wait long. Food was great. One Sunday after church services as we were being seated before I could sit down I saw a damn ROACH!!!!! crawling all over the table. When we told manager he looked at us like we were crazy and moved as to another table!!! That was the last time I went to Teppanyaki in about 2 years. I returned again yesterday Jan. 12, 2014 and I decided to go to their grill. I grabbed a plate and served some white rice and some noodles on my plate. When I look down on my plate I see something black. I thought maybe it was a burnt noodle or something. But when I looked closer it was a damn ROACH/BUG!!!!!!! Yes, a ROACH/BUG in my damn food which I got straight from their grill!!! I went to show my boyfriend and he was like ooooo no thats a damn ROACH!!! We have to go!!!! I went showed the manager and he said it never happened before that it probably came from the pipes!!!! I mean wheher that's true or not it shouldnt be in the damn food. Like as nice and clean as the place and servers look the food should be even better!! Highly disappointed! and very DISGUSTED!!!!!! I def vote this restaurant one of the worst restaurants I've ever been in!!!!!!! VERY DISTURBING that it was the second time it happen to me!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't know what to expect walking in but once we got through doors I was impressed. The decor was modern and very clean. You order your drink and pay before being seated. $6.99 for a lunch buffet is excellent in my book. We got seated and then off we went to get some food. The assortment of food was excellent, sushi, teraki, traditional asian dishes, plantains, fried sweet potato, fish, chicken and much more. We sat down ate our food and we were very pleased. Everything was tasty and fresh. The dessert was great as well the chocolate cake, chocolate fondue and banana pudding hit the spot. We used to go to a similar buffet in Ellicott City but we enjoyed this place much more. Can't wait to go back. It was crowded considering it was lunch but there were still plenty of tables empty. I noticed lots of Asian families eating along with us and that was a good sign. As a Latina I wouldn't eat at a Spanish restaurant if it wasn't good. I use to go to this place a long time ago, but there food got so bad I had to find another place. Recently I thought I would give them another chance, and it looked like the food did improve, but boy was I ever wrong!!!! I tried the hibachi first off, and these guys need to learn how to crack an egg because they leave in on the plate and smash it with the spatula which as you can tell results in egg shells mixed in with you eggs and food YUCK!!! Another thing is the hibachi chefs need to speak english because myself, and another customer was trying to tell them there was egg shells in our food, and I guess they didn't understand because they said something in spanish and added more soy sauce huh are you kidding me? these other food looked good, and tasted ok, but boy did I pay the price later I spent all night in the bathroom I was so sick. Trust me this was there last chance I will never go back there again. Don't waste your time with this place unless you like to eat egg shells in your food thats soaked in soy sauce, or you like to spend hours in the bathroom. BIG MISTAKE read more
