This location of Teri & Yaki was probably my 9th errand on a very busy Saturday. The last thing I had energy for was making dinner. Good thing this Teri & Yaki was on my way home. It's probably 1/4 the size of the other location on Arroyo, but the menu is the same and in some ways I almost prefer this location. There is so much personality in the decoration of the small store, and the store is super clean. I got my usual single chicken with spinach, and it tasted great. The parking is a tad hard to find, and you definitely can't park on Lake, so remember to make that right hand turn early, or just park at Norms and hope no one screams at you/tows your car. Four stars for reliable, healthy take-out! Would be great if they were open on Sundays, tho. read more

Fairly priced, fairly average food. Coming from Hawaii, I was excited to try what seemed like a quick Japanese take-out place. However, it ended up being just a "sort of" Japanese Panda Express. You pick a main "bowl" (chicken, beef, etc) and two starch sides. I ended up getting the chicken bowl, and paid for extra meat. Portion size was reasonable for $10. The chicken was okay, but their Kim Chee was pretty good. Even though I live 1 min away, I probably won't be coming back unless my legs hurt and I don't want to walk far for food. I've been a Teri & Yaki fan since a work pal and I discovered the former Arroyo Parkway location and would beeline there for the $5 Bowl special every weekly. After that closed, I've enjoyed becoming a regular on Lake Ave., closer to home, which worked out fine, since the office moved to Glendale. All meant to be. ;-) Lake Ave. has a great night staff, a no-pressure, mellow vibe, and consistently fresh and tasty food -- literally comforting on all counts, especially those pot stickers! After the coronavirus shutdowns, I was relieved to learn that delivery was possible. Though I miss seeing the crew and relaxing over a hot meal after work, it's been great to have T&Y at home, too. And this past Wednesday's delivery came with the kindest, sweetest surprise, so I had to share: Having lost sight of the time, I placed my chicken plate order online just under 30 minutes before closing. In case they were out of some sides, I didn't want the staff to have to call or make a blind guess, so I typed in a backup for my side, then a backup to the backup. I was concerned something had gone funky when I opened the bag and saw handwriting on the receipt, but after I saw the huge smiley face and read what the note said, I smiled from ear to ear: "We appreciate the contingency plan -- enjoy glass noodles on us :)" WHOA!! Sodium OVERLOAD Ok, so I get that it's fast food and my blood pressure is going to stack... but this was unbearable. I had to literally rinse-off my tofu and throw away my garlic noodles (there was no saving them). The tofu had been heavily marinated so I was only able to mix in a couple of piece with plain brown rice without feeling like I was mouthing a salt lick. Spicy vegetables are pickled but should be listed as pickled and then salted for good measure... They got the can too. So, I had some brown rice and a couple of strips of salted tofu and never has my pulse been so easy to take. I really liked the Chinese chicken salad, but the last three times I've purchased this salad( for $11) the portions are becoming less and less. Bought 3 salads today to-go when I got home, the plastic container literally was a little bit more than half. Had to go the market to add romaine lettuce. Been a long-time customer but don't plan on going back, would rather go to Mendocino farms for salad with appropriate portions for the price. read more

I walked in here on a lark after realizing how freaking hungry I was! I had been shoe shopping next door and didn't realize it was after 2. Dang, my stomach was growling...and I was super happy with my lunch. The chicken was fresh and white. The brown rice was tasty as were the noodles. I added steamed broccoli for something green and healthy. All in all the food was super fresh and yummy and also, a lot of food for the price. I work just down the street, so this is probably one of the most convenient places to pick up some quick lunch. The first time I went here was at least a couple of years ago, and I wasn't impressed. However, I went back recently and must say, it was tastier than I remember. I ordered the beef and chicken place with a side of kimchee. They serve the meat on top of rice and noodles (like chow mein). The portion is pretty big. The meat was tasty, tender and kind of like bulgogi style. The chicken was average, grilled and dark meat. But I fell in love with the kimchee! The total was about $11 so I decided I would only get a one meat plate next time and add an extra side, since that was the highlight. Turns out I liked the food so much that went back the next day. Got the chicle, plate with a side of spinach and added kimchee. The trick is to add a pricier side with the combo and order the extra cheaper side a La carte. Fyi spinach a La carte is $3 and kimchee is $2. If you go during the lunch rush, between 12 and 1, it can get crowded and there aren't many tables. But after 1 you'll get your food much quicker. You can also call ahead and pick up. Overall, not bad and I'll likely return. read more

I came the other day because I was recommended to try the teriyaki bowl they had and let me say... for me being a picky person with what I eat was a surprise to me. I actually loved my chicken teriyaki bowl that I purchased. It was so delicious that I had to send a picture to my friend to show her what I was eating and on top of that I let my friend try it and she fell in love with it that she wants to eat it for lunch the next time we come in. Oh dear me the parking is amusing. You know how the Hollywood Bowl has stacked parking to try and cram more cars in? Well flashbacks of that happened as I squeezed down past the sign that pointed me in the direction of the handful of spots designated for Teri & Yaki which are parallel to walls because ... well there simply isn't any room. 3.5 Stars. I wanted to like this place so much more, because it's the closest "Korean" spot. Quotation marks on purpose. It's not really Korean food, but it's good for a quick craving killer! I ordered their spicy pork, beef BBQ (bulgogi), and potstickers. Their potstickers were decent! Kind of tasted Korean like Mandoo, but they definitely were filled about 1/4 of the filling of traditional Mandoo and were much thinner/smaller. But the flavor was good! The spicy pork was a bit a bummer. I liked that it was mild in spice, good for kids, but the meat wasn't great. Maybe I got them on a day before a new bath of pork got in... either way, I thought the pork tasted a bit old and I didn't like the texture. But I'd order again if I feel optimistic enough, and the craving for "dweji bulgogi" is strong enough! The beef BBQ was DRY. But the flavor tasted mildly of the real deal. They give you teriyaki sauce, but that would ruin the bulgogi experience. The bbq beef is just that. Not bulgogi. Their rice was only 2-3 stars. Not Korean steamed rice but the cheap version or something you'd get from a Chinese place. I didn't like that too much, but they give a ton of it! All in all, the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The lady at the counter was very friendly and pleasant. They're generous and happy and I liked the interior, which was super clean and revamped. I'd go again to kick a craving. They do have a parking lot out back which was very useful because there is no street parking in front! read more

Wow. Been coming here for Maybe 25 years. Never once had any problem. Always tasty on point never missed a beat. Great customer service. Sane employee have been here over 20 years. There is over 1000 restaurants in PASADENA, 998 of them are trash. They open up , then you see all the hype from the public, then before a year there either shit down or the place is run to the ground. Not this place. Never gets old. I used to come here years ago with my sister at their older location by the bike shop and flower shop. I had a sudden craving so I ordered my meal to-go. I was so disappointed with my meal. I got what I used to when I was a big fan. So I got the chicken plate with garlic noodles, rice, and a side of cucumbers. Then I got some potstickers (these used to be my FAVORITE). I took my first bite, and it tasted much like the plastic it was in (which also is a down side), the sauce was so salty. And the noodles just had garlic powder on the top which made the texture gritty. The chicken was really burnt, and rice was hard. Overall, if you want some chicken teriyaki; go to B-Mans or another establishment because this ended up being a waste for me. read more

Do not come to this place if you are in a rush or on your lunch or more than 2 people in your party. The parking lot is very hard to get to and only fits 4 cars oddly (ie parked along walls stacked) there is no room to sit any where and they are crowded. The food is ok but preorder and pick it up to go. When we went today there was one person waiting. We placed our 2 bowl order and sat and waited and watched other people get their orders who came in after us. 20 mins in I ask and they start looking for our order.... how do you lose a dine in order when you only have 4 places to sit. They disappear in back and come back and say they have it to someone to go. It was dine in! WTH! They take another 10 mins at this point it has been 45 mins wasted. We couldn't eat our lunch and had to go back to work. And I will not be back. read more

I came here a couple weeks ago with a couple of buddies from church for our weekly meeting, a time we use to catch up and find out how we can keep each other accountable and such. Off topic however. My friend (who is a Yelper) made the mistake of not Yelping this place before coming here. It wasn't until we had all already ordered and sat down did he look it up on his iPhone and realize the quite low average of this place. No matter, gotta learn things the hard way sometimes. This place has only been open for a short few months and still looked pretty new. And what I also mean by that is that it was clean. The decor was meant to make this place resemble a temple of sorts. Not that they had gold Buddhas everywhere, but just the combination of the color scheme and wall accents made me feel that way. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with white meat with brown rice and added a side of the Korean style pickled cucumbers. Interesting that they lay some chow mein on top of the rice. Maybe they think people will feel more satisfied and will complain less. The pickled cucumbers were ok. The chicken was ok. The sauce was ok. The noodles and rice were ok. The interiors are nicely decorated with some Asian influenced touches with some bamboo here, watercolor, and a nice dose of red all over. It's a small place and I love that they have an automatic door to the entrance. It completely reminded me of my time in Japan. This place is another one of those over the counter, custom fast food places. It's not supremely difficult to make teriyaki chicken, so that's exactly what I ordered. Plus, they had $4 dollar Wednesday special on their teriyaki bowl that seemed promising. The service is brisk. When my meal came out. It was on a plate with rice a few pieces of cabbage, noodles for some reason, and grilled chicken on top. I had a side helping of teriyaki sauce. It was plated very sloppily. Why would you put noodles on top of your rice? I didn't understand that. The chicken was good but the noodles were too salty and there wasn't enough cabbage. It was an eh... kinda meal. For four dollars, I probably wouldn't spend my money unless this was the only choice for food I was given. I've had better teriyaki and I would pay more for better teriyaki. read more

The girl in the register needs to be trained again. Her service was baffling. It's my first time here and I asked her how the ordering worked here. Her response, " you pick whatever." I asked "how many sides do I get to pick? " her response "what ever" asking another time just to be sure, " I can pick as many sides I want? " her response was a nod. I ended up ordering an $11.00 bowl once I paid I stood staring at the menu to reread how it could be so expensive. After I noticed sides were not included I asked her to change my order. i came on a wednesday for the $5 chicken bowl - meat is tender and love the char from the grill, the slaw is delicious.. kind of like a mellow kim chi. it was convenient that they have parking in the back but i didn't like that it was difficult to wait for to go food (maybe it'd be better if they had those vibrating call things so people can wait outside instead?) and, more importantly, that the wait was pretty long. I expected to grab my food and eat real fast before a meeting but ended up having to eat after my meeting since I waited easily 10 minutes for my bowl. of note it costs significantly more for the beef. since it was my first time there i initially asked for half chicken, half beef and was rung up at $10.90! when i asked for chicken only it was $5.45 after tax. what a difference read more

Going back here the second or third time isn't as great as the first. I don't know why but this place just doesn't taste as great anymore. Should also be careful because I read a report online that this Teri and yaki had to close because of bug infestations or something. After reading that, I stopped coming here. Even if the location is so close to my office building I don't think I will eat here anymore. As for the food part, I had ordered their tofu bowl the last time I came here. The tofu they use is super firm tofu so they can grill it. It was dry and tasted like nothing. Very unappetizing and looked really bad. I just didn't like it. I thought it tasted disgusting and they should just take it off the menu. I know Teri and yaki is trying to make their food healthier choice for people but I just don't like it. If I wanted healthy food I would rather go to panera or something. Overall, I won't be coming back here. read more

Not sure why this establishment has such a low rating. There are a variety of food choices, the prices are reasonable and everything is fresh and tasty. I get the frustration with the parking, but this is Pasadena and parking is terrible in general and those who complain about that are just living in another world. I've come to this place (both locations) and never had any issue with the food quality, quantitiy and service. Perhaps the problem is not the place but the person? (I work in retail and know that most complaints are generated from self-righteous, overmedicated people who are irrational and unreasonable). Anyway, you must try the chinese chicken salad. It is hands down the best in town and all their side dishes are wonderfully made daily. I love their staple chicken teriyaki and like the fact that you are given the option of dark or white meat.
