I was craving a bento that wasn't too big or expensive and came across this spot. I stopped by on a Sunday around 11 am, and it was surprisingly busy. Daisy the manager was even nice enough to add some seaweed salad for us to sample, because my wife enjoys seaweed salad and she wanted to try it. It was also a great salad option. Surprisingly good eatery in the strip mall at the northwest corner of the Valley Bernal intersection in south Pleasanton. We stopped by yesterday after a family bike ride, and ordered a Lion king roll ($14.95), kids meal ribeye steak ($7.95) with white rice, and two teriyaki chicken bowls with white rice and vegetables ($14.95 promo). We also got a free order of dumplings (5 pieces) with Yelp check-in! We ate outdoors on the patio (there is plenty of clean and comfortable outdoor seating in this strip mall) and finished in just a few minutes. I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of Teriyaki City Grill TBH, but the experience that I had during my first visit was pretty great! It seems like they just opened and are still working on getting their pace in. They definitely had me at the register when they offered me a sample of their Lion King roll lol. I ordered the Short Rib, Chicken, & Ribeye Bento Box and their Lion King roll (after eating their deliciooous sample). The teriyaki here was pretty good - chicken is cubed which made it easy for some pieces to taste dry. The ribeye just tasted like bulgogi to me. The short rib was actually pretty decent! For the lion king, the pieces are pretty small and the sushi breaks apart pretty easily. Taste-wise it's pretty good overall, prob because it's drenched in their special sauces though. Downsides: they have nooo cellular service here. Not the biggest deal, but I was sad that I couldn't look at photos of the food on Yelp since it wasn't loading. Another minor quirk was that they serve their plates with an orange on the side, but the orange is cut in half so you have to straggle it a bit and peel the orange to actually eat it lol. I've come to Teriyaki City Grill twice now and loved it both times! The store is small and quaint and clean on the interior with several booth tables to sit at. The service is great and the staff is friendly. The staff that helped me at the cash register was super helpful and even gave a free sample of one of the rolls! He helped explain their options and gave me a run down on what the different varieties are. After ordering, the wait time is very short and they turn around the orders in just 5-10min max. They have a really great team and efficient system going. As for the food, I tried a chicken teriyaki bowl and beef bowl. Both the meats were excellent and extremely soft and tender. The chicken was delicious and good flavor and nice and juicy. The bowl comes with some sautéed veggies on the side which were decent. The ribeye beef was really great too. I could tell they used good quality meats because of how fresh and tender the meat was. Both meats were a hit and would get both again. This place is perfect for a quick dinner fix if you are in a hurry and want something healthy and delicious. Prices are also so reasonable! Each bowl is about $10 which is unheard of nowadays. And if you can catch the happy hour, you can get two for one chicken bowls for $10! What a steal! I'm definitely coming back soon! read more

I had really high hopes for this place and it was a bit disappointing, though I will be back to try the the sushi. The platter deals on the sushi sounds good. I shared the large bento box that includes Ribeye (it's just Bulgogi really), chicken, and short rib. It was all similar to a Hawaiian lunch plate without any mac salad, and wow some mac salad would've been great here. I think the value was not great, it seemed like a lot of food when we opened the box but it's tons of rice and one portion of the box is just half an orange. Food was pretty good, just the portions for the price, $18.95 for the bento box didn't really do it for me. Short ribs were my favorite, another issue though is you have to wait a little extra for it. Everyone's food that took longer had short rib as the culprit. I tried some of the Cajun shrimp and it was really good. Buttery and well cooked. I may have to get that next. Couple suggestions for them: - Use short/medium grain rice for the bowls, the long grain didn't really work well for it. My rice was a little hard and not soft and fluffy - find something else for the orange slot, a half orange is not the answer - need some bigger portions for the price, but yes I know times are rough right now I will return to try the sushi and test something other items. read more

Busy day ..I had to go out town. On the way back home I met some friends for lunch I realized this place literally just opened. We walked in to welcoming staff with awesome decor . That is really what got my attention to come eat here . The decor is orange with wall art and a cute sign with lights on the wall. This establishment was very clean and organized they have a hand sanitizer machine in the front that is also orange . I love how even in the bathroom the color theme continues . We were starving we ordered so many stuff to share I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. We did not realize how huge the portions were going to be . We all left with left overs to take home . The prices are average and affordable for the big portions you get . All the food was excellent!! Super flavorful!! It's been several months since I last visited this place. They pretty much updated the menu now. The food is still good here, but they removed the option to where you want veggies or not. I personally don't mind if they do that since they still tastes fresh anyways. The place has been around here for long, but not sure if it will become popular. Decided to come here because they sent out a promotional coupon for a BOGO bowl as well as a lion king roll. The person working at the counter was friendly and the food was prepared promptly. The bowls and sushi roll was over all just okay, and nothing really stood out to me. The lion king roll was also not hot when we got it (usually it is a baked roll) this and the fact that it came out super quick lead me to think it definitely was not made to order. This review is for the Teriyaki City Grill catering service. I was first introduced to Teriyaki City Grill in October, where my friend used their catering service for his child's large party. My family enjoyed the food during the party and kept their contact information in case we wanted to use their services as well. Fast forward to the holidays, I got in contact with the owner, who was away on vacation, but still contacted the manager and set an appointment up for me to meet with him. Marc took the time to meet with me in the restaurant, explain the catering menu, how many people the food items are estimated for and even made helpful recommendations and/or suggestions to the menu items my family had chosen. Although not as big a party as my friends, this was very helpful. The following day, the scheduled order pickup was ready prior to my arrival. Michelle did an excellent job packaging the order, making sure all items were included, made sure we had enough sauces and even offered to help me carry the items to my vehicle. We ordered the chicken & beef ribeye teriyaki meat platter (large), steamed veggies and gyoza. Included with the order, was a large serving of white rice. Lastly, we ordered the "Double the Pleasure" sushi platter. All items were nicely packaged in foil party trays that were easy to carry, load into the car and did not make a mess. If you've ever had boxes spill in your car or in the takeout bag, this level of packaging is appreciated. The sushi platter was displayed beautifully in the plastic container, with the see through top. The chicken/beef ribeye teriyaki was moist, tasty just like at my friends party and the veggies were cooked perfectly (tender but not overcooked). Even the rice was delicious. The sushi was a hit of the party, with the Lion King, California Rolls, Avocado Rolls and Crunchy Rolls. They all got rave reviews by the attendees and the best part to show it, was there were NO leftovers. Quality, quantity, value and great customer service will have us coming back for future parties and also when we are craving Japanese food in the tri-valley area. The chicken was thigh meat and a little too fatty/greasy for me. Yes, I realize that the darker meat is known to be more flavorful. I just prefer the breast. My family has been here a few times now. Always impressed with the consistent cleanliness and friendly service. I always forget to ask for the gluten free sauce, but I don't have a true allergy to gluten and am glad I got to enjoy the teriyaki/sesame sauce. Servings have just enough sauce for flavor and not drowning the entree. You are free to add as much as you want as it's available. My boys love coming here and it actually cost less than typical fast food drive through. It's convenient to our baseball location and is a favorite stop for all of us. We consistently order the same 3 entrees: Organic tofu bowl - I appreciate this as I am technically supposed to be eating all organic, GF, soy free, dairy free vegan. I do the best I can. I know I'm cheating a bit eating here, but I don't have any unwanted side effects from this dish. The tofu is medium, not super soft and not super firm (which is more my preference). It was easy to pull smaller pieces off with the chop sticks and eat that way.. Not super flavorful on it's own, but oh that sesame sauce! Makes any entree taste amazing! My son loves the salmon. He's the only fish/seafood eater in the family. I appreciated the fact it didn't smell like stinky fish and he said it was so moist it just sort of fell apart with his chop sticks and easy to eat. My other son orders the kids Mango Chicken. Teriyaki chicken over rice with a side of cold mango sauce. He prefers it without the mango sauce and adds more teriyaki sauce instead.. The mango sauce is almost like a sweet syrup and very mango-y. Definitely worth a try. I dipped some broccoli in just to see. I personally think I'd prefer it warm, but did like the sweet flavor. The veggies you get with the bowl are steamed perfectly. If you like mushy cafeteria type veggies, you won't want these. We had brown and white in our orders and every time, the rice is just right, a little sticky so you can eat with chop sticks, but not lumpy. Definitely worth a try. The interior is clean and spacious. I was attracted to the teriyaki rib eye and the the salmon bowls from the picture. You have the option of white or brown rice or vegetables with an extra charge.
