The tables can fill…read moreup towards prime dinner time on Fridays and Saturdays, so I always try to get here earlier when they first open for dinner if it's one of those days. There's only 2 small rooms to sit in, plus the sushi bar (small counter). Even though the majority of the tables are in booths, it's not that private and is especially tight in the front door room. The prices here aren't that outrageous, and the serving sizes match the pricing pretty well. The rolls aren't huge or generous, but they don't skimp either. I prefer to get the chirashi here because they provide a decent amount of variety compared to other places with chirashi. The only items I wouldn't order again are ones with smoked salmon because they tasted like canned fish.

Then it was too many staff, not many customers and it was difficult to get service, that has been improved upon. They are nice and attentive when they see you. Service was normal, the wait staff came around and offered more beverage. This time it was still slow period, so what gives it only 3 stars instead of more? It's the fact that the main door the employee use to go into the kitchen to give their orders to the cooks had cob webs on the top of the door.i mean everyone of them walk through that door hundreds of times throughout the week because I could tell it's been there for some time. Where's the food inspector, should be a concern because if it's there in full view of customers and employees, what else is happening as far as cleanliness at Kona Kitchen. I will be there within two or three days and wonder if the cobweb will still be a fixture there... it's something that is annoying because nobody's done anything about it. Amazing.
