We are returning customers and have had some good experiences but tonight's was definitely the worst we've had. Service: The dining experience is similar to what you would see on a cruise ship dining night, however a lot more chaotic. They sat us at the table closest to the self-serve buffet. My chair was tugged on by waiters multiple times. My husband got his elbow knocked by a waiter and the fork winded up cutting the inside of his mouth from it. Took over 15 minutes to get a cup of ice. The waiter forgot about it and we winded up asking someone else. That happened twice. We have a consistent line of people waiting for the self-serve buffet and being that our table was closest the line was always next to us. Always! Food: the food is really tasty. The variety of steak, shrimp, sausages, salmon, lamb, chicken is why we love coming here. We're not limited to what we want to try and eat. They have the food selection done well. Atmosphere: Chaos. People all over the place, if the tables weren't so crowded towards the buffet it would probably solve that. The staff doesn't speak English well and it's already hard to hear so I didn't know what she was saying half the time. Dined at Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse and it was awesome. The restaurants ambiance is perfect with modern lighting, and tables and seating that is comfortable for dining. Let's get to the good stuff, the picanha, rib eye, the salmon, the lamb chops, it was all so flavorful, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The fruit at the salad bar was juicy and ripe. The salads were exotic and delicious, so many side choices, from red skin mashed potatoes, chilled asparagus, and so much more. There is definitely more than enough for everyone to enjoy. The service was superb, everyone that touched our table greeted us pleasantly. The meat servers knew the cuts and cooking preferences of meat we liked most after a couple rounds. Our server explained the process of the restaurant, took our drink orders and we had the best time! My husband and I decided to have a cute lunch date and have been wanting to try this Brazilian steakhouse for a while now as we're huge fans of Fogo de chao. The lunch pricing was great so we decided to give it a go. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us and we were led to a cute table and our server acknowledged us right away. We received our drinks and a brief run down of how things operated with the meat button before we were set free to head to the salad/hot food bar. The yellow rice, bread puffs and cold shrimp were delicious as well as the fresh fruit. The sweet and spicy peppered bacon was just regular bacon. The lobster bisque was not spectacular and neither were the Brazilian beans. As for the meats - the chicken tasted sour like it had spiked and been cooked, not good at all. Several of the meat cuts were overcooked or extremely fatty but we gave them a second round just to see if it was the part of the meat we received and not necessarily the entire skewer it came out on. The bacon wrapped steak was delicious as well as the picahna. The beef ribs were good and the chimichurri sauce they brought out added so much flavor. We ordered crème brûlée for dessert and that was seriously the highlight aside from the cheese puff breads. I've been trying to convince my husband to go to a Brazilian steakhouse for years and I finally was in a town that had one during my birthday week, so I convinced him to take me for lunch. This was just as good as the churrascarias I've visited in Brazil, and my picky eater husband even agreed it was really good steak. The cold and hot bar selections were excellent and the meat they served at your table was super flavorful - our favorites were the bacon-wrapped chicken, sirloin, and ribeye, but I also really enjoyed the salmon and fried cheese that they brought around. The garlic steak was good, but if you don't like a lot of garlic, steer away from that one. Since we visited for my birthday, they also brought me a nice passion fruit mousse dessert which was a delicious way to finish my meal. I need another stomach to eat more of these. Fried Cheese with Honey - wow, not expecting this awesome flavor bomb. Roasted Pineapple (on a skewer) - amazing, warm, moist and not too sweet. Crème Brûlée - this was FANTASTIC. Tres Leches Cake - just as good as the Crème Brûlée. Joao, the owner oversees operations and jumps on to fill any gaps and make sure the experience is authentic. My choice of the Chicken/Shrimp was wonderful for me, but most people come for the beef snd it is deliciously prepared. The salad bar was just okay, I wasn't thrilled with it. I made reservations at Terra Gaucha to celebrate my grandfathers birthday and it was an experience he will not forget. We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation time and were seated within 5 minutes of checking in. Our waiter did an amazing job explaining how everything worked and then we were on our way to the unlimited salad bar. The salad bar had such a large range of items including mashed potatoes, lobster bisque, so many different cheeses, brown sugar bacon, and so much more! By the time we got back to the table our plates were full. I am a pescatarian and the full experience for me was just amazing as the pescatarian option includes unlimited chicken, shrimp, and salmon. I did not eat the chicken but the shrimp and salmon were each cooked to perfection. My drink of choice was the passion caipirinha and I had no complaints!! For dessert we ordered the caramel fudge cheesecake and the creme de papaya. It disappoints me to give Terra Gaucha a three star review considering how much I love this restaurant. I've been coming here for the last few years when I visit Jacksonville. I've tried a few other Brazillian steakhouses in California as well as Florida and just based on the quality and flavor of the meat this is my absolute favorite. The Picanha and Garlic Picanha in my opinion are the best. The meat is very tender and flavorful. The Ribeye is good as well as the Churasco steak. The sausages are awesome, but I don't each much of the chicken when I'm indulging. I did try the chicken legs last time and they were not my thing. The grilled pineapple is great and a must try. Once you have the grilled pineapple there's no really no reason to order dessert. Oh and you can't forgot the Brazillian cheese bread, those sucker are addicting and hard not to fill up on. So why the three stars? Service is so hit or miss. I've been times were service is fantastic, but it seems if you are not seated in the main dining area you are not going to get many choices of meats and you are mostly forgotten about. My sister and I a few years ago were seated towards the back of the restaurant and had terrible service and couldn't even get bread. When we talked to a manger they did give us a coupon. The manager did seem to care which is why we've always come back. The last visit was on Father's day a few weeks ago. We made reservations about a month in advance. We arrived early and got told it would be 30-60 minute wait which is ridiculous. When we were finally seated we were sat in a room off to the side. We saw our server once, but she really didn't come to check on us. We kept asking for certain cuts of meat and even if we asked 10 times, no one would come. Apparently asking a server walking by will not work. My son really wanted the pineapple and every time they came by they would be out and say they would be back but would never come back. I would also ask for my son's meat medium and they kept giving him rare. He finally stopped asking and didn't want to eat more meat. After about an hour of this I finally went and hunted down the manager. I explained the situation and the service changed within a couple of minutes. We were offered everything we could have wanted. We wanted a nice meal for our dad on his day and this is not a cheap meal. It is ridiculous that it takes tracking down a manager for service to change or anyone to care. We were offered no discount or anything. Just one apology when the manager first came back with me. So, I love the food, but the service is so hit or miss depending on where you are seated. If you decide to come, good luck with where you are seated, the food is good and be sure if you don't have good service, find a manger. read more

Researched the other Brazillian steak houses in the area and this one seemed the most authentic. It was delightful! Might not look like the most upscale on the outside, but the inside is just lovely. We sat outside on the patio and the weather was perfect. Don't worry - the gauchos will visit you plenty out here. We had full plates of everything we wanted as much as we wanted. Everything is delicious, but this is the one place where the filet is NOT the star of the show. Its definitely the picanha. I would almost say you can skip everything else. Since it's a Brazilian steakhouse we obviously went for the Rodizio and it didn't disappoint. All the meats were phenomenal, very well seasoned and cooked "medium" as we requested. Sides and salad bar had a lot of variety and were also very flavorful. To drink we had caipirinhas and wine which were also very well balanced & crafted. The service we got was excellent, considering we had multiple servers swinging by our table, including the manager, offering help and always interested in making our dining experience better. The waitress did not check on us after we got our drinks for at least a half hour. Now the food. I must admit that it was really good. The salad bar was amazing. The attention to detail was been better than some Michelin star restaurants we've been to. Some might feel it too much but i don't mind being pampered. The cheese puffs are amazing. The polenta fries are also just incredibly tasty. These are served first at most BS restaurants but both of these were above average for sure. The cold bar isn't as expansive as some I've been to but the ingredients are fresh and there's enough variety. My favorites were the shrimp and smoked salmon. I made a plate to start with colorful salads and fish. It was delicious. The hot bar had mashed potatoes, rice, and lobster bisque. Those were all good but the mushrooms. Let me repeat...the mushrooms could have just been their own course. I'd literally have them for lunch. Then there's the table service. I had a plan. My goal was a medium rare filet, lamb chops, Parmesan pork, and sausage. All were perfectly seasoned and very tasty. The pork was a bit dry, however. Make sure to be clear you want medium rare lamb chops. Definitely order the chimichurri sauce for your steak. The filet was perfectly cooked. My husband also enjoyed the ribs. The sausage was amazing. There were three extra things we got. The garlic bread on the skewer....Chefkiss!!!!! Like really....wow. They also had a cinnamon pineapple to end the meal. We have been told that this place is the best ! My hubby went here for a business meeting before and verified how great the venue is. It was definitely a bit busy. We made a reservation. There's inside the restaurant and outside seating. We were blessed to be able to get an indoor table because it was a little bit warm for me. I'm still getting used to Jax weather patterns. The venue is beautiful inside. The staff is personable and professional. The salad bars are always my favorite in this bounty of meat. I guess I get so excited about the salad bar that I don't ever eat as much meat, but that's ok, because I know that the meat will be so delicious that it will make me so happy. This venue has a great selection meats and the salad bar is well stocked. There's soups and sauces and desserts and adult beverages. The patrons range from celebrations, romance, family gatherings, and today it was lots of teenagers all dressed up for prom. I was glad to see the various grouping. It was loved by one and all based on the silverware clanking and sound of happy Foodies saying "yummmm". We had not an inch of room for dessert, but a cup of espresso hit the spot to top us off. My son-in-law had his water refilled so often as the attentive servers would frequently fill up our glasses that I think he was definitely well hydrated for his 10K tomorrow. They are always fast to serve us, and if there are any meats we haven't gotten, they will ask us which meat we would like and they will bring it right to the table. The food is delicious as well! When we arrived, the service has not changed, still impeccably top-notch! We were told to wear mask and gloves if we are going to get food from the salad bar. And when we came back to our table, somebody will just appear beside you and take your used gloves! And as always the food was excellent! As soon as my hubby asked for his favorite lamb chops, the meat server came back and gave him 5 pieces! I really cannot commend enough the superb service and food of Terra Gaucha! Terra Gaucha considered themselves a nice up scale restaurant and is relatively upscale establishment based on the decor and how the employees are dressed. Now that the description of the establishment is done, let's get started with the experience. My wife made a 3 person reservation for 7:00pm which was a complete waste of time seeing as how it still took them 23 minutes to actually seat us. The hostesses were pretty rude in regards to checkin us in and when we inquired how much longer we would have to wait the response received was "you are next". Within 10 minutes the hostess sat two other 3 person parties AFTER telling us we were next. As for the lobby, their Christmas tree blocks most of the seating and people waiting go be seated were packed in like sardines. Legitimately speaking, I have been to bus stations better organized and managed than how Terra Gaucha manages their intakes. So if you are looking to choose this restaurant for a nice date night....DON'T. Unless you want to stand around awkwardly in a very crowded waiting area. The entire dining experience was overall just unpleasant due to how loud, agitating, and close they put the tables together. I was bumped by almost every server while they were trying to squeeze by and serve the next table. PRO: And there is ONLY ONE. The quality of their food and drinks will not disappoint.
