shout-out to our server Nectar--she was friendly, on-point, and kept everything moving so we could make the Pageant of the Masters on time. We split the burrata salad and the lamb, which was perfectly cooked. The warm bread they brought out first didn't last long at our table! We walked in on a Sunday night without a reservation and still snagged a table, enjoyed phenomenal food, and were out the door in plenty of time for the show. Quick, delicious, and great service--can't ask for more.

Hummus

It's the last day for the Pageant of the Masters 2024. We got an early reservation at 6:00, so it would give us plenty of time to enjoy the food and the weather before the show. I'm surprised at some of the feedback on the yelp reviews, I thought the food was pretty good. The restaurant is located at the top of the walkway so passed all of the music goers and picnickers. You check in at the left side of the restaurant. Jennifer was wonderful and took care of us. We started off with the meatballs and hummus. They came out super fast. The cocktails.. not as fast. We decided to order our entrées, thinking it would take a while. We hadn't even started. Our appetizers went out, became our entrées, which were the shrimp and pasta, the lamb shank, and the chicken. Actually, everything was perfect, but it just came out too fast, and we end up eating our entrée before our appetizer. So we're to the wise, tell them to hold off on the entrée until you're done with the appetizer or, order them later. However, I am glad that we got our entrées early because towards the middle of the evening they ran out of food being it was the last day of the season. We ordered dessert and coffee. We probably could've skipped dessert. It was very decadent and very big, enough for three people to share. It actually was over indulging. The coffee, was terrible. Lukewarm and made by someone who is probably not a coffee drinker. It was sludge. We left the restaurant with plenty of time despair for the show, I believe it was almost 8 o'clock, and the show started at 8:30.

Fried Calamari

The food was delicious and service was friendly. We were there right when they opened to enjoy before the dinner rush. This was my boyfriend's first time at Festival of Arts and my first time back in over 10 years. We were sat at a table overlooking the art vendors and we were the only party for a long while. This was perfect... Until the yellowjackets and bees showed up! Things were fine when our drinks and fried calamari were brought out, but my boyfriend ordered the chicken and when that came out, so did the yellowjackets. The bee eventually gave up, but one yellowjacket, sometimes more, crashed our dinner and I felt so bad for my boyfriend. Thankfully, the yellowjacket was not interested in my delicious salmon, but to see my boyfriend uncomfortable made me uncomfortable and I wish staff was able to do more than give us a lame back-up candle that kept blowing out in the wind. Despite the quiet chaos, my boyfriend still chose to order dessert when I was willing to skip it. Of course, who came back? The uninvited winged one, constantly getting in our way of the dessert. I only managed three spoonfuls of crème brûlée for myself while my boyfriend persevered and ate the rest, all the while the yellowjacket shamelessly helping itself to a dessert buffet and spa. That was the only thing that soured the ambience for us and thankfully, we were not stung.

Shrimp scampi
Winnie L.

I had low expectations before coming to dinner but apparently didn't set them low enough. I ordered the shrimp scampi as it was the most popular dish and recommended by the wait staff. I ended up waiting 45 minutes before getting my food and the rest of the table was already done eating their meal by the time I got my dish. As you can see in the picture attached, the noodles were dry (like when you have pasta sitting out too long) and the cheese was congealed indicating the dish was probably sitting around for quite awhile before it got to the table. The dish was lukewarm and the shrimp was overcooked as well. I would've sent it back but was worried it would take another 45 minutes and I would've missed the show. This was disappointing because the restaurant is advertised as fine dining. You can get better quality at Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill for half the price. The dish was $38. However, the location was excellent (though the music was a little loud) and the view was nice as the restaurant is located on the second story. This restaurant is convenient as it is located near the entrance to the Pageant of the Masters show. But if you have adequate time before the show, I would suggest going to another restaurant in the area or bring your own picnic.

My pasta Primavera with polvo meatballs was decent enough, but kind of dry. Even the beer was dull and dry, service was kind of inept and slow, for a few diners in attendance. There were lots of empty tables, on a night when the Pageant was showing, yet the very new and green wait staff could barely keep up.

Hanger Steak
Asher D.

Well, everything I experienced today debunked all of the most recent negative reviews. Wedge salad most definitely had blue cheese dressing, not green goddess (feel bad for you Dennis who got green goddess), got the check within 45 minutes of sitting and food took only 16 minutes after ordering (sorry Alan G). Regardless, people may have had bad experiences in the past, but currently this restaurant doesn't deserve 3 stars. It just doesn't. Recommend getting the meatballs and the hanger steak. Both are very worth it.

Shrimp and pasta
Kristen M.

Food was ok! I had the shrimp and pasta and enjoyed my meal. Based on reviews we knew not to expect much, but the convenience of eating at the Pageant venue and the time crunch caused us to throw out wisdom and try it anyway. There were four in our party and we each ordered something different and left fed. The support staff were mildly attentive. There was live music when we arrived and the setting is lovely and, as I said, convenient, especially when driving such a distance. Not sure we will try this again. Solid 3 stars.

I waited about 24 hours to write this review, as we were treated very poorly at this restaurant. Background: in my teens/early twenties I was a Sushi Chef, Caterer, and Server. I am very familiar with restaurant procedure, and give a lot of leeway to restaurants. With that being said, we booked our reservation at 7pm knowing we wanted to attend the Pageant of the Masters at 8:30pm. Giving ourselves a full hour and a half to dine and enjoy. Upon arrival, we noted the restaurant wasn't as busy as we thought it would be. We were sat at a 4 top (just my husband and I) which I thought was great. We looked around and noticed a lot of empty tables, and decided to take our leisurely time ordering drinks, then appetizers, and then entrees. Well, we sat for about 15-20 mins before being approached by our server. I explained I was pregnant and would prefer a mock-tail. Her immediate comment was laughter and "sure if you want to spend $10 on mint water." My husband and I looked at each other and said, yes please. We also decided to put in for appetizers as we had been sitting for a bit. The appetizers came out reasonably fast, which we thought, "Wow, very nice!" and then we realized we were served the table that was sat before us, THEIR appetizer. From there it was all down-hill. Server came back to bring drinks. Then rushed off, and didn't come back for over 30 minutes. We had to flag her down to get our entrees in as we were starting to cut it quite tight on time. We waited and waited, and nothing came out, and again no server. We finally flagged down a busboy to check on our order and we overheard the kitchen exclaim there were only tickets for dessert. They scrambled to throw our meal together and got it to us, with less then 15 mins till show time. My husband ordered a simple burger and fries to save on time, and I ordered a more elaborate seafood and pasta dish. Well, his fries were cold, soggy and extremely salty, burger was sloppily made and thrown together (no spread, dry bun, and lifeless lettuce). My seafood was cold and at the bottom of a heap of very al-dente pasta. No one came to ask how it was, and we had to get a box for my pasta (figured it might taste better once warm and re-heated), and our check from the bar, so we could quickly get to our seats. Very disappointing and overall a terrible experience!

Panna cotta
Eva S.

This is the best place for dinner if you're looking to dine before Festival of the Arts and Pageant of the Masters. Beautiful outdoor patio! The three course meal is outstanding. I ordered the Cauliflower Cacciatore and is it delicious. Also recommend the panna cotta with berries and fruit . Recommend a reservation

The main reason to dine at Terra Laguna is for the location. We brought my mom down to see Pageant of the Masters and she has mobility issues so we know that there would be minimal walking Given this restaurant is directly inside the Pageant grounds made it an easy choice Salads were standard but probably the best part of the meal. Mr & I chose the only veggie option which was eggplant and broccolini. Both were super tough, hard to cut through & had a heavy smoky flavor. Mom had the salmon & said it was dry Desserts were unmemorable.......and they made sure to chase us away from the table after 1 hour. No questions if we wanted another drink, coffee or anything but here's the check & looking forward to the next table seating So come for location but time it well because you'll be out in plenty of time for the show

Dried out burger

Worst disaster in Laguna. Dried out disaster of a hamburger. Seriously I can pay $20 for a burger and fry, but please at least make an effort. Dry, dry, dry and when I bring it to their attention, they replace it with a dry, dry, dry overcooked meat patty and serve it with a crapload of attitude. Fry's were good! All their burgers are pre grilled? Means they cooked them this morning? Yuck Stay away! Manager is agro.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time at Terra. We loved the ambience and were greeted with amazing staff. The restaurant has a nice touch to it between the greeneries, marble tables, and wooden accents. We ordered the chicken and the lamb shank and we thought both tasted really good. We also ordered the shrimp ceviche for appetizers and it was definitely one of my favorites. The drinks were also really yummy, and pretty looking! Would definitely come back again to try their different options in their menu.

You're basically just going through the motions, my friend. We paired it with their ice cream fudge sundae, and we could not have been happier with our decision. The moment that warm butter cake hits the table, pure joy consumes your soul. Anticipation builds like you're about to open the best gift ever. The only logical response is to grab a spoon (yes, a spoon because a for would be a travesty of a mistake) because you need the perfect ratio of buttery cake, berry compote, and ice cream in every single bite. You carve that first perfect scoop, lift it toward your mouth, and suddenly your taste buds are doing an Olympic-level gymnastics routine--sticking the landing with a gold medal performance. It's a holy, almost spiritual experience you desperately hope never ends. By the final bite, you're slumped back in your seat, practically begging for a belly rub like a satisfied golden retriever, whispering a quiet prayer that this isn't the last time you'll experience this life-changing dessert. Ps. The service is amazing and the vibe is perfect for a date, a night with friends, or a celebration.

Took my mother-in-law here for her birthday and we all had such a great experience!…read more We got there around 4-4:15pm and had about a 20 minute wait, but we were able to find a high top table that we got to sit at and were able to order drinks from the bar, so that helped to pass our time. We got seated at our table at our table around 4:30p and had the most perfect view of the ocean! *we went on a Friday night and noticed the patio cleared out about 4:45-5pm and I didn't appear to have a lot of people waiting during that time. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. We all loved our dishes and were very satisfied with our choices. Their menu does have non-seafood options, but why not to try what they're most prominent for? They don't have a dessert menu, but they heard that we were celebrating mom's birthday so they brought us a little Toffee Cake to share and enjoy...and for a place that doesn't have dessert, the cake was pretty delicious. Such a cute place all around. My husband and I can't wait to go back! Parking - they have valet parking available right in front of the restaurant or theres street metered parking in the surrounding area.

On the deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean! What a beautiful view!!…read moreWe came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Upon arrival, you'll find that the valet completely disregards the flow of the street. They use the southbound lane as a parking lot, effectively turning a small two-way road into a one-way alley. The valet guys were also rude to people trying to drive through for no apparent reason. When sitting outside on the deck, there are 12 heaters available, but the hostess wouldn't turn them on. (I've eaten at many waterfront restaurants, and they all turn the heaters on--especially when the temperature drops from 80°F and sunny to 68°F after the sun goes down.) The website states no seating after 8 p.m., yet they were still seating people well after 8:15. The menu was also not what I was expecting. While waiting for dinner, the aroma of marijuana drifted across the dining area. (I know they can't control what happens outside their establishment.) the deck is roped off because apparently it's unsafe and could fall off at any moment in addition to the rotting floor. The food: The menu is underwhelming. I ordered the chicken with sun-dried tomato risotto and vegetables. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless, and the chicken was also lacking flavor. I sampled the New York steak with mashed potatoes--the steak was cooked well, but the potatoes were cold. We didn't even bother ordering dessert and went elsewhere instead.

PHENOMENAL dinner service from the waiters here. Great cocktail pairing recommendations with meal,…read moresuper attentive, always delivered, and great end to my engagement night. Would 100% come back. That said, I'd admit, a certain DTLA Michelin restaurant has set my expectations of south of border seafood cuisine a bit too high (starts with H) so I'll try to be reasonable. Also the items picked were surprisingly huge and i was too full to finish my meal. 9/10 The chips tasted delicious, bean dip was something new and delicious, salsa was fresh and bold, and the roasted pepper salsa was surprisingly not too spicy, really good. 8/10 trio de cheviche. Good assortment and size of the dish. Shrimp was ok, I felt it was missing something, octopus was good, my personal favorite was the marinaded tuna. 8/10 seafood chile relleno, not a bad assortment, sides were good, large portions of food. 10/10 Coco rita, this margarita is definitely something different! And pairs with everything amazingly, I love it, and this is coming from someone who normally hates coconut. 9/10 they brought out this chocolate cake I dont see on the menu but they will if it's your birthday, but in my case to celebrate my new engagement. Super moist. The place is really loud ambient wise when busy which was around 8pm which is normal of any popular place but after near closing around 9:30 is pretty quiet and casual on a Sunday. Total bill after a 21% tip ran me total $165 and I had leftovers. Free chips, 1 large giant appetizer, and 1 large entree could potentially feed 3 people if you don't eat a lot. If you don't wanna have leftovers, go easy on the chips but that's gonna be hard.

Going down the list of dishes I tried here: -Miso Garlic Noodles: Solid and good flavor. Nothing special and overpriced for what they were. -Avocado Wontons: These were interesting. It was like a vegan poke only that it's watermelon. Not bad, but the 'wontons' weren't actual wontons. -Ahi Poke Stack: Solid poke and I enjoyed the creamy avocado. Also a bit overpriced considering the portion size. -Matcha Martini: Pretty disappointing. Couldn't really taste any matcha. Only tasted like a sweet and creamy cocktail. -Chilaquiles: Overall enjoyable. I liked the crispy chips. However, the servers forgot my eggs which was annoying, but they brought it out later with an additional egg. -Crispy Fried Calamari: Tasty and I liked the sauce. Calamari wasn't the greatest quality itself though. Service was pretty slow and the servers seemed to forget many details when taking orders which caused service delays wasn't optimal. The interior was decent and not dirty. For parking, there's a good amount located at and around the Pavilions parking lot. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back here again. It just seemed like a standard chain restaurant. It is located walking distance from the beach though.

The cocktails were equally impressive--perfectly balanced and delicious. This is one of those places where the presentation is almost too pretty to eat! The only area with room for improvement is the service. While everyone was pleasant, the attentiveness didn't quite match the exceptional food and atmosphere. There were small details that were missed, such as delays in getting water, ordering drinks, and having silverware and a steak knife ready when the food arrived. Our server seemed a bit distracted and not as warm or engaging as expected for a dining experience of this caliber. That said, the food absolutely stole the show and made the evening memorable.
