My hubby and I came from hiking and wanted to get a bite to eat in the sf area so we found Terzo on Yelp and went for it. I was a bit concerned that we were too sporty for this joint but as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly hostess and there didn't seem to be a problem. The hostess asked of course if we had reservations and we said no, even though there were plenty of seats open. She was super nice and gave us a table that was reserved at 7:30pm because we said we'd be done with our meal before then. We arrived at 6:24pm. We were greeted by a very friendly server and our awesome meal began. I ordered a side of hummus and small plate tomato pork dish with polenta, which was simply out of this world. It was tender and all the rich flavors were in perfect harmony with one another. Wow!!! My husband had the spicy kobe beef tri-tip small plate and we were both amazed at how awesomely tender and flavorful this dish tasted that I wished I would have ordered that instead of what I did. As for the hummus + pita we were both greatly disappointed. The texture of the pita/herbs were a little too sandpapery and the hummus was also grainy and failed completely especially in flavor. How could this be? It's a greek restaurant. Our evening came to about $50, which was a little pricy but worth it. We will definitely be coming back but will skip the hummus next time around. read more

Delicious from start to finish! We came here for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed each course. The carbonara stood out as the best i've ever had. The vanilla bean panna cotta had a perfect balance of sweet and sour flavors. The portion sizes were very generous, which we appreciated. I really like the ambiance here. Very dark, not too loud. Fun waiter. Recommended is 2 - 3 dishes per person... I think we got to maybe about 5? Left pretty satisfied though. Highlight: Meatballs with Polenta. Incredibly moist, and the polenta is a surprise texture to the dish. Honestly I didn't even really need the polenta. I could have had it on it's own! 2nd place goes to the celery soup. Incredibly creamy with the right amount of citris. Honorable mention goes to the side of fried onions. It is HUGE. Way too big for two people. Made with buttermilk batter and red onions, great sweet flavor. Downfalls: Lemon Sorbet. Was creamy because it is homemade, but way too sweet. I knew I loved this place when they handed me the wine menu and almost all the wines were biodynamic, organic, or sustainably produced. Another reason they earned my effusive praise is the ease they handle dietary restrictions and allergies. Specifically gluten free & nightshade free (a difficult one!) I'd come back for many reasons, but the top two are our server Niccole and the marinated yogurt chicken. Niccole was a rockstar; attentive, kind, had amazing food and wine suggestions and honestly made the experience worthwhile even before we ate. She even brought us a space heater outside and knew exactly when to stop by and check on us without rushing us at all. She's an absolute gem and I will ask for her every time! Great spot tucked away at the end of Union street. I was surprised to find that it's been around for a decade but it looks very modern and classy inside. One of our new favorite places to eat. We even went recently for restaurant week and loved it. Great pasta, meatballs and steak. Good for a nice, hearty meal and I can't tell if this place is Italian or Spanish. Mediterranean style restaurant bistro located in the trendy Cow Hollow area. The restaurant entrance has a narrow frontage but it widens toward the rear of the building. The interior has a very cozy atmosphere and great ambience. Great selection of wine and cocktails. The Brussels sprouts appetizers were very delicious. Great, intimate setting with options for larger groups, decent food (some hits, some misses), good service - what else can you ask for? Venue / Service: very cozy, dimly lit interior, which is great for a somewhat casual yet intimate setting. Not so dark that you needed to bust out flashlights, which is a plus. Service-wise, people were pretty quick, filling up water glasses when appropriate and food came out at a good pace- I think the two of us finished in 1.5 hr? Food: most of the dishes are shareable, and we ended up sharing everything. They generally say 2-3 smaller plates and then an entree, depending on how hungry you are. -- Hummus (with House-Made Pita & Za'atar)($8.50) - Simple, but great. Still a bit of bite from the ground up chickpeas, which I like. Would have been great if the pita was a bit on the crispier side so that it wouldn't get soggy or sag when you put the hummus on it, but the za'atar complemented the hummus well. -- Sautéed Chanterelle Mushrooms (with Crispy Polenta, Crème Fraîche, Thyme, Wine & Ricotta Salata)($15) - polenta cake added a nice crunchy element to the dish and complemented the earthy chanterelles well. Not sure if it needed the creme fraiche since it made the dish a bit heavier than I would have preferred it, but otherwise a good dish to try if you like your mushrooms. -- Tomato Braised Pork Meatballs (with Creamy Polenta & Reggiano)($13.50) - hard to go wrong with a braised meatball, especially since you end up with a nice, juicy pork ball. Polenta and parmesan were nice extras to the meatball- this dish is gonna be a bit on the richer side. -- Linguine alla Carbonara (with Pancetta, Leeks, Garlic, Cream, Black Pepper & Pecorino)($22 for large plate, $14 for small) - I usually associate carbonara with an overly creamy sauce drenching the pasta, so thankfully this wasn't the case here. There was enough sauce to coat the pasta without overpowering it, and the pancetta added a great amount of savoriness, along with the garlic and pecorino. One of those dishes that seem to use fewer ingredients but are all impactful altogether. We ordered a large plate, and this was quite a large plate. Unfortunately, not for peeps with lactose intolerance or small stomachs (double whammy to me), but still worth a taste. -- Braised Chicken alla Cacciatore (with Orzo, Herbs, Tomato, Mushrooms & Fried Rosemary)($21) - chicken was juicy and quite flavorful, having soaked up all of the braising liquids! Orzo was well cooked and also had soaked up the liquids so it wasn't just a plain cooked orzo. This dish is a little more difficult to share since you'll have to pick your way through the bones to the meat, but perhaps better if ordered as an individual entree. All in all, there could be some tweeks to the food to make it awesome, but quite happy with the vibe and service enough to want to bring friends here for a nice, quieter yet slightly upscale dinner. read more

Incredible food and world class service made this one of the best meals we've had in San Francisco. The menu changes daily based on what fresh ingredients the chef can acquire. The Chicken Spiedini and the Chimichurri Steak were the best chicken and steak I've ever eaten. That's a bold claim and I can barely believe it myself. The flavors on the dishes are perfect compliments to the natural flavor of the main ingredients. All the meat was cooked perfectly to our liking. Our server, Phil, had a full and busy section but attended to us in a way that we felt like we were the only table in the restaurant. He graciously walked us through the menu (this was our first time at Terzo) and made suggestions about house staples that stay on the rotating menu. This is a very interesting and quaint joint in the Marina. I stopped in here when I was staying with my Cousin who lives down the street, her husband, and some old family friends. We received some really good relaxed service, food that was tasty, and the ability to have a very light corkage fee on some vino. We were able to rock things family style, definitely the best way to get a little bit of this and that. I think that most people like the family style feasting even if they dont want to do it at first. The thing that really stuck out as delicious to me was the meatballs. They came in a nice tomato sauce, were covered in cheese and were rather large. Definitely a tasty appetizer to say the least. If you order a couple orders to share you may even get an extra one ;) The crispy onions were definitely there take on Onion Rings and super tasty. But when are those not tasty and delicious? The skirt steak covered in Chimichuri was also a nice and tasty dish. It was a great savory delight in my mouth. YUM! We also ordered several other items including a salad and another dish or two that just didnt stand out the same way. I think the gnochi was one of them. We went at 8pm on a Saturday and thanks to our reservation, were promptly seated. I ordered their Rośe for the table, and it was spot on. Classy yet casual ambiance. The pictures don't do this place justice. Great and welcoming service. I neglected to ask the monsieur's name behind the bar but he is a gentleman. Very engaging and polite to answer our questions about wine glass sizes. He also kept offering water after we had already settled the bill and were easing off the buzz haha. My date and I decided on a bottle of white sauvignon "Alessandro" chilled, after our first glass lol. Bay Calamari, linguine and a shared glass of pinot grigio to go with the rice pudding. Delicious. Terzo is excellent. I've been twice now for dinner, the first time with a group of four and this time to be seated at the bar. I highly recommend making a reservation! They are always booked, especially on weekends. We were able to snag two seats at the bar after only waiting a few minutes and had a wonderful meal there. We were lucky as the bar has limited seating. Wine options are great. The dinner menu is even better. I appreciate that they update the menu. The pork option with sweet potatoes and cabbage changed a bit but was excellent both times. I appreciate having new yummy options. For Starters: The hummus will rock your world. That hot seasoned pita is to die for. Butternut squash plate is also exceptional! Brussels sprouts are always a yes. Main: Dive into the entrees head first. I've had the pork option twice now though the cut was different each time. Juicy, perfectly tender, with sautéed cabbage and mashed sweet potatoes hiding below it. Their herbed butter is top notch. I can't write enough good things about the experience my friends & I had at Terzo. The COVID outdoor set up was quaint and picturesque, reminding me of a European dining experience. The waitress was incredibly friendly and provided delicious food recommendations. We started with the hummus and it was hands-down the best I've had. Terzo is a great addition to the Marina, the name is Italian for "third" and the owners told me they picked it because they wanted this place to be customers' third place to gather after home and work. I like that just off thought just off the bat. Making a reservation helps, since the restaurant was packed on the Tuesday night we showed up. Our waiter was friendly and attentive through the night, and made us feel instantly welcome. The Mediterranean style menu is made up of small and medium plates, and that's half the fun - the picking and choosing, the mixing and matching. I can easily recommend the housemade pita and hummus, the pancetta wrapped figs, the roasted beets, the spicy calabrese sausage, I could go on. Ok, I will. The free range chicken spiedini was another favorite, as were the crispy onions. As you can see, there's a variety of items to choose from, and our waiter and the kitchen were great about pacing the meal. Evidently you can sit at the bar as a walk in, and there's are a few different bar items like lemon-rosemary chicken wings and assorted pickled vegetables to enjoy while having a nice glass of wine. Speaking of which, the wine list is daringly non-Californian, and I have to give Terzo credit for pulling that off successfully in a city like ours. Good times all around, and unlike some of the reviewers on here, I actually found the pricing to be pretty reasonable all things considered. If I lived closer to Terzo, this would certainly become a regular spot for me, much like NOPA has become in my own neighborhood. read more

Went with a group of people to Terzo to celebrate a friend's birthday. This place has a lot of good things going for it...decent location, nice atmosphere, solid food... So why only three stars? Well the service was terrible. She was rude, condescending, impatient, etc. Perhaps because it was a table of 8 "youngish" people who didn't look like we would tip well? Not sure. My other huge problem with this place was the price point. I get it, restaurants love to do tapas because they make more money on each dish, but come on... While ordering someone asked how many meatballs were in the $12.50 meatball dish. She said they were about the size of golf balls and it comes with 2 meatballs. $6.25/tiny little meatball. Are you kidding me? I can buy a couple pounds of meatballs for that price. The thing is, I am not a super cheapskate fast-food eating type of person. I eat at a lot of good (and expensive) restaurants. However for me there needs to be something special to justify spending a ton of money on food. Terzo just did not have this something special for me. The other food we tried was good, including the hummus, but nothing was life changing or worth the price. If money is no object to you and you look like a good tipper than check our Terzo for some above average tasting food. If you are looking for upscale Mediterranean I recommend Kokkari Estiatorio. If you are looking for something that is a better value check out Troya or La Méditerranée. read more

Overall, I enjoyed the food at Terzo. While not particularly inventive, the selections were well-executed and for the most part quite tasty. I was, however, put off by the cool temperature of the Niman Ranch beef. It was served on top of piping hot potatoes and grilled green onions but the meat itself was not hot, let alone room temperature (which is what they claimed the intended preparation was when I asked.) If you want more than a solitary bite of the Serrano ham, better order two plates --- the portion is quite insignificant. Ever felt like the whole "small plates" idea is just a way to con you into parting with yet more of your hard-earned cash? Terzo might just corroborate that feeling. True stand-outs were the hummus and the chicken spiedini. If they are on the menu when you dine at Terzo, do not miss these selections. Though we were both looking forward to dessert, we didn't order any because none of the selections were tempting. Because the menu at Terzo changes so frequently, I think enjoyment is a lot about chance. If you arrive on a night when they've got a lot of things on offer that you like, you'll enjoy it. Last weekend, I dined at Terzo for the 2nd time, and I confirmed to myself that it's one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I dined with 4 others, which was great because we got to share a several dishes and get a good taste for them all. I recommend trying a bunch of dishes when visiting. Here's a dish by dish commentary of what we tried: Hummus: Bread was particularly good and flavorful; hummus was decent. Roasted Butternut Squash: excellent dish texture and flavor was great! This was unanimious hit among our group. Tomato Braised Pork Meatballs: Nice meatballs; I felt they were cooked a bit more rare than I would have liked, but the excellent tomato sauce made up for it. Arugula Salad: This dish was nice. Nothing to write home about but good. Mozzarella di Bufala: This was also nice. Again, not mind blowing but good. Braised Greek Style Chicken: This dish was excellent. The chicken fell off the bone so tender. Linguine: I really liked this dish as well. Texture and flavor both stood out. I thought the Beer Selection on Tap was pretty unique: Chimay, Trumer (German Pilsner), Big Daddy IPA. I went with the Trumer, which came in a tall skinny glass with the European measurement "cut off" listed. Out table shared 2 desserts as well. We had the Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream and the Pumpkin Cheesecake. Both desserts were blow away. I'm a big dessert guy, and I felt that this really capped off an excellent dinner. Did think the club music didn't quite match the decor as my friend noted. Terzo (third restaurant in their business group as well as the third place to stop by after work and home) was busy on a Saturday night and it's easy to see why. The accident outside the window was the biggest conversation piece of the night but it was nice to sit at a "nice restaurant". Very upscale but relaxing. We happen to catch this restaurant on TV. It was featured on check please! The choices on the menu are very varied. You out of plethora of choices it all depends on what your palate wanted. We stumbled onto this place because the guy at the stuck up restaurant around the corner was very rude and we definitely did to want to wait 45+ mins to dine at a place that didn't seem to even want our business. Luckily, there was no-show party so we were able to get a table and I'm still amazed at how lucky we were for that because this place is amazing.
