First time here and i strongly suggest you come hungry. The service was amazing as I took my wife here for her bday. The service was amazing and fast and our waiter was super tentative. The fact that meats are brought to your table is amazing. My favorite meat is the picanha and the garlic picanha. The salad bar is full of fresh greens. Went here for a friend's birthday and had a 4:45 pm reservation. The food and service was fantastic! The salad bar was really good with items like Lobster bisque soup, sautéed mushrooms, asparagus, veggies galore, cheeses, you have to see it for yourself. The meats were amazing! The filet minion w bacon was my favorite along with garlic and spicy steak, the pork and lamb was so good too. The chicken was probably my least favorite dish. The service was amazing, my tip is to make an early reservation because at 4:45 pm on a weekday they weren't busy so we got to try all the meats all at one time. I noticed by 6 pm the restaurant was packed and meats were scarce because they now have to feed the packed restaurant. At 4:45 pm we got individualized impeccable service and got to eat eat each meat multiple times. The meat was fantastically seasoned and they also had options if you wanted your meat more medium well or more rare. Each person has a round sign, green for you want more meat and red for no more meat right now. It was my friend's birthday and she got a complimentary dessert which was a cake slice of her choice. Reservation at 7:45, was told they are running late so it would be an additional 20minutes. Ok, it's Grand Opening night so it's to be expected. Now everyone I was with compared it to the Vegas location which is more over the top. I heard comparison's to Fogo De Chao as well. In my opinion place is nice. Loved the red and that over the top flower centerpiece that towers over the salad buffet. Once seated, we were greeted and served water and drinks. They give you a tablet that shows the various meats, drinks etc. Proceeded to the salad bar and wow! The assortment was fantastic! Also there was a section with Lobster Bisque, scalloped potato's, sautéed mushrooms, Jasmine rice and traditional Brazilian beans. Not to mention they bring out small plates of French, fries, mashed potato's and this sauté bananas. So much food and we have not even gotten to the MEAT! Gauchos come around with skewers of assorted meats, sausages and chicken. My favorite was the Picanha. Simple and soooo delicious. The flavor of that meat! I also tried the Filet Mlgnon, Brazilian sausage, flank steak and the Parmesan chicken. All were fantastic! Next time I'll try the Lamb Picanha. I'm a big fan of Brazilian steakhouses and I'm glad one finally opened on Oahu! Our server Kyle was extremely knowledgeable and kind. The salad bar had a wide variety of options but I wish they included some local favorites like white rice or Mac salad. The meats were very good but there wasn't as much variety as their mainland counter parts. They just opened recently and it must be hard to get all of the meats here so I totally understand. I really enjoyed the meats available, especially the picanha and surprisingly the Brazilian sausage. Finally they had a wide variety of dessert options. I tried the Brazilian Cheesecake and it was phenomenal. A layer of fudge sits beneath the classic cheesecake, topped with caramel and nuts! Do not waste your time or money here... First problem was where we were seated. They crammed us right into a corner where the exit door was. I was blocking the exit door and am 99% sure that is a fire code violation. Second problem was our server. Took a while to initially come to us but that wasn't the issue. He took our drink orders and we asked for water and some cokes. After we went to the salad bar, got a plate full of food, sat down, started to eat. No waters or coke. Finished our entire plates, still no water or coke. He finally walked by and I had to flag him down. Had to remind what our order was again. Ten minutes later we got our cokes but still no water. He did not come back to check on us the entire time. Other servers were checking their tables more often. Third problem is the service of the meats. Keep it green for a steady flow of meats and go red when you need a break. Want a specific cut? Tell your gaucho and they will send that server to your table. For being their opening night, they truly deserve five stars- it was humming in there like a well oiled machine! So many tables and serving staff, plus management but they kept the diners happy and provided excellent service. Another birthday and holiday dinner. I got to select which place to go to, so I suggested this new buffet. Luckily, we were able to get reservations on the date we were aiming for, so big plus on that! Located in Ala Moana on the top floor connected to the Hookipa Terrace (where Olive Garden & Mai Tai's is) in the space where Lens Crafters used to be. Hard to imagine this space and it's quite spacious with many tables squeezed in. Seems like this is how most new restaurants like to setup their tables. Packed to the point where chairs are touching from the next table. It's pretty amazing to see the meat served maneuver through the room constantly. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by the hostesses. To the left is a bar, with a handful of bar stools. Straight ahead is where all the meats are being rested and prepared. On the right is the salad bar. Soon after being seated, we were greeted by our server, which she explained what to do. The cardboard coaster looking thing... green side means bring the meats. Red side means stop, I'm too full or need a break. Grab a plate from the salad bar and keep on your table. That's how you can keep your meats separated from your salad selections. Salad bar comes with leafy greens, couple of cheeses, prosciutto, salami, cured salmon, lots of olives, cucumber salad, shrimp salad, roasted garlic and sauces. Get the chimichuri to dunk your meats in. Has a nice acidic and spice to it. Soup, rice, potatoes and beans are on the side. Although, I recommend avoiding this. Save your tummy space for the good stuff. Nothing was outstanding there. Get a piece of bread though from the basket. That bread was nice and soft!! Perfect with your meats and cheese or butter! By the time I came back to the table, I had a handful of meats already on my plate left behind. Servers come to the table with whatever meats they have and freshly slice or place a piece of item on your meat plate. Hands down, my fave was the bacon wrapped filet and spicy picanha! Sausage would take third for me. The skin has a nice crunch, like an arabiki. 4 sides automatically come with your meal as well. French fries, mashed potatoes, Brazilian cheese bread and carmelized bananas. Those fries are winners! I ate a whole plate myself pretty much. Hahha. I sadly was not a fan of these Brazilian breads. They were a little too dense and almost slightly undercooked with not much cheese. Tasted like a plain oily mochi basically. We still loved our time there- specialy my 3 yr old daughter. She enjoyed the mashed potatoe and lobster bisque. Other meats was ono! Spicy beef & lamb was my fave. I wanted to swe what the hype was. I've been to Fogo de Chao in the Bay Area so I knew what to expect. The wait is ridiculous even with reservation and for me, I didn't care for it so much. They have a pretty good salad bar but you're really paying for the meat. We had to get the servers' attention to get more meat. They should be stopping by to offer but most of time we had to ask other servers for particular meat. The meat itself were meh. Some were too salty and a bit too raw. I wish I like it more. The ambiance is nice, lively and casual. The restaurant is split into the main floor and a slightly lower level. We were seated on the lower level in the corner by the windows. The meats were either very bland or had a very weird taste to it. Nothing specifically was very tender either, all kind of chewy. Because of the area we were seated, the servers came by a lot less. And when they did, the meats were the tasteless parts. And some meat options, we didn't even get! We had to ask for them specifically. I saw many reviews about the lights dimming randomly, and it did happen. We were right next to the window at around 5:30pm though so it wasn't a big deal. Then they said they didn't accept the coupon we got off of their website, that specifically said the Honolulu location. They said they don't do it at this location... what? The server didn't know so he showed the coupon to his manager, about 3 feet away. And then he turned around and told us what he said. Enjoyed a birthday dinner here and it was amazing! The food was delicious (both salad bar, meats-on-swords, and desserts), the service was fast, the cocktails were good and all the employees were courteous, friendly, and professional. Only improvement would be table-top size is very small. Their 4-person table would normally sit 2-person in other venues. We were at a lost for table space a few times and everything was crowded as the meat servers stopped at each corner to cut each specialty meat for each person at our table. There was barely any room for them at the corners of our table to lay down their plate and slice off the delicious offerings. The cost is higher than most locals are used to for AYCE buffets, but the choices were plentiful and you can easily get full and go home satisfied. Some reviews said skip the salads and such, just focus on the meats, but honestly, we enjoyed the sliced onions, marinated mushrooms, and caramelized pineapple with the meat bites. These items just enhanced the flavor of the meats. We tried a little bit of every meat-on-a-sword they brought by, then requested our favorites after and just said no to the others. One tip would be to pace yourself and eat the eats while they are hot and succulent, as they do not taste as well once cold. Check in: We've been looking forward to try this new place. We checked in 5min before our reservation and was seated right away after they confirmed our reservation. Gift card as of end of December 2023: I asked the host if they accept gift card and she mentioned that she has no idea that my server will come soon and I should ask them. I asked our server and he confirmed that they do not accept gift card at this time. Place: The table was quite small for our party and it was very cramped. It was not a unique situation since I observed the same situation for people around us. It was tricky to navigate to the salad bar since table were next to each other. Food & experience: He asked if we wanted any drinks and we just said we're good with water. Apparently there are options of water: regular or bottled, sparkling or not so we opted with bottled one. We were offered acqua panna. For 4people it was barely enough but we weren't aware that their bottled water was acqua panna so once we knew we denied getting second bottle because we know that this type of water is on the higher end price. I noticed they never gave us a menu, they just asked if we were familiar with the experience and as some of us were not then they would give a brief explanation. The salad bar did not have much option compare to other places in mainland. Once we came back from the salad bar, meats (not all but usually the same) were coming despite our sign being green or red. Meats: Good variety of meat. Some of them were good but others were either burn or too rare. Despite the variety, we had to ask for different type of meat and wait forever or flag them down so that the kind we wanted came to our table. Overall: I would call it a one time experience. Most of the meat that was offered was a bit overcooked but they are happy to provide you any temperature and meat requests. The service was slow in the beginning with our party having to wait about 30 mins for 2 meat options. Once we informed our server, she was able to relay the message to the servers and we were offered meat regularly. Please pay attention to your check, we arrived with two children and we weren't asked for their ages but they were both charged the half price- we had to tell her one child was 5. Her response came with an attitude saying, "well, nobody told me!" Lastly, we had a discount applied when we split the check, we realized that our charged bill was higher than the total. Turns out that any check that's split will automatically void any discounts applied. You'll have to pay attention and let management know. The manager, Mr. Brian, was very kind and helpful. First off, I'm not a meat person but my husband is so I got excited when I saw Texas De Brazil was coming to Hawaii, but could I eat $70 worth of meat? But then @fiveftfoodie posted that you can get just the salad bar for $40 and the lobster bisque was one of her favorites I was so grateful because then my husband and I could enjoy this experience together. I made a same-day reservation online for 8:30 because that was the earliest available, but I noticed reservations weren't being honored on time. I was worried because my husband tries to go to bed at 10:30 so every minute counts. We ended up just putting our names down at 7:00, walked around Ala Moana, and got in at 7:45, so while it's still new I encourage walking in. So if you're a couple you may have to be prepared to walk for your food. I posted a photo of where we were seated with the PATH MARKED IN YELLOW. If you have a group you may also have to be seated in the same "downhill" area as us. This is a big reason why I took off a star. Now, is infrastructure an easy fix? Of course not! But this was poor planning on the builders part. We have to walk up and down a ramp that is shared with everyone and servers and the host station is right at the corner in full view too! This means, if you seat an elderly or someone who can't walk well in our section, someone else is going to have to get their food. Also you have to dodge the meat servers with big hot skewers and if not them you have to dodge bussers! I encountered everyone on this path and it really ruined the experience. It made me not want to grab salad as much or I grabbed a lot but prayed I didn't fall or drop anything or run into anyone on my way back to my table. Also, servers/hosts/bussers please pick up the little red and green tokens from the ground! I was walking back from the salad bar with two full hands and I saw someone step on one and slip and I prayed my heels would not do the same. But don't just take something that was on the ground, and put it on my table, please wipe it down?! There's gotta be a more effective way to use those tokens.. Okay, am I finally going to talk about the food? Yes, so like I mentioned before, it's gonna take work! Our reservation was at 8:30 and it' was 8:55 and we were still standing outside. One hostess said they will seat us in 10 min when I checked in. When I asked another hostess who came out to call people's name ahead of time said "oh 10 minutes is just an estimate." Why wouldn't you staff properly on a Friday night? Please get people to provide better service at the hostess stand since they are the "first impression" of your business. What was more upsetting is that several parties that came after us to check in and were seated before us!!! We had a small party and clearly there were tables available when we checked in. Although our waitress was great, the experience in the beginning with the hostesses overshadowed everything. I believe it was for Veterans day 2024. We were in this long-line and they were only letting in a few people into the restaurant at a time due to limited seating circumstances. They literally had 75% the restaurant set only for people who want to pay full price and the remaining 25% limited seats during the discount time-period for us "cheap asses" got treated like straight bums. The waiter/waitress that were helping people but asking if its regular or discount rate, anytime it was for discount, they gave the people an eyeroll, nasty vibes. I feel like if you just opened the restaurant and maybe reduced price by 25%, people would have been down to try it out. But the fact that you only let a few people in at a time and the line was huge, it was not possible to even make it for the time zone they had set for us discounted poor people. I would never return as first we got AYCE Korean BBQ for $30 instead and they treated us with proper care. Texas De Brazil, relax. You should want people to come in and try it out and im sure many would return. We made reservations here for my partners 40th birthday, we had a party of 12. The restaurant was accommodating when we needed to add more guests prior to the reservation. We arrive at 7 per our reservation and are seated 10-15 mins after. The hostess was very short with us. From the moment we sit down the server Caleb is seemingly irritated with us, doesn't do the normal spiel that TBD servers usually do and was rushing us to put in drink orders/start eating. Since we had a large group we waited for everyone to get there before we started eating, the server was very annoyed at that as if he was trying to turn and burn the table. We ordered drinks while we waited and watched them sit at the bar for 20 mins before arriving. They tasted like syrup and cheap alcohol. Once we get up to eat, almost everything in the buffet area is empty. While my partner and his friend were waiting for them to replenish the food (another 20 min wait) no meats came by, even tho we flipped our card to green and asked MULTIPLE serving staff. Finally the server comes back around saying he's gonna talk to the meat servers and have them flood the room, 10-15 more minutes go by and we're all still waiting. I asked to try the lamb chops 3 times and was never brought any. The meat was good and so was the salad bar, but the service was awful. We waited 30 mins after asking for our check and the very nonchalant server comes to drop it off saying "sorry I got busy" $152 auto gratuity was added to the bill so we immediately went to the host stand and asked to speak with a manager. A good amount of space between the tables to allow the servers walk around. I came just for the meat so I can't comment of the salad bar, soup, bread, etc. I did they the mashed potatoes, fries, and bananas that they brought to the table. They were ok. They served different types of pork. Most were good but one was dry. Of the beef choices, all were tender but some were salty. If I was eating them with the mashed potatoes it would have probably balanced out. The lamb was my favorite. Perfectly cooked. Loved it with a little mint jelly. I didn't have too high of hopes with it being in Ala Moana, but every person we encountered who worked there was just so sweet and helpful and made sure we had fun. We had a wedding celebration of 35 mostly from out of state. Many first timers. They set up the whole downstairs area beautifully for our use. From the get-go the service was excellent. They even let us celebrate our culture by allowing us to do cultural dances. We kept the music at a minimum and the celebratory group dances to a low volume. The food was excellent!! They allowed us to bring our own wedding cake. They even surprised us with complimentary ice cream!! My only concern was that the meats came out slower than we'd have preferred and it seemed like we did not get the usual array of meats. We had 3 children below 2 years, purposely no other children attended because we knew it was not the most kid-friendly family style restaurant. I noticed certain areas by the kitchen entrance and a large party in the rear dining area had gauchos visiting every 2-3 minutes so if you go, request to sit by the kitchen, and wait for that! The meat was just....alright. I've had better and more meat for a better price at some of the higher-end steakhouses in Hawaii. It was a lovely day in Honolulu during Statehood day weekend in August 2024. The Pokemon world championships were in town and friends of mine decided to have lunch at Texas de Brazil restaurant at Ala Moana shopping center. I didn't know much about this place, so I was a skeptic. I went in with an open mind and see where the time spent here took me. I dined with 2 new friends I met earlier that day playing Pokemon Go and we decided to go to lunch. We arrived at Texas de Brazil restaurant around 12:15pm and left right around 2pm on a Sunday in August 2024. I thought it was a steakhouse until my friends pointed out that there was a buffet. It was a salad buffet and thought okay. I could fill up on this, not really thinking this is a Brazilian inspired steakhouse. Essentially, Texas de Brazil steakhouse mimics almost perfectly with modern Chinese dim sum restaurants, where the servers push dim sum carts around. It was very uncanny, but not carts, but large skewers of various Brazilian steak and barbecued meats on a skewer. It was definitely wild and interesting for sure. For myself though, I went one round on the salad bar and after that filled up on the meaty merry go round. It was one of the more enjoyable and meaty experiences I've had in a long time. I didn't realize that prices were around the $60 ish range per person. Maybe I should have checked before coming but as it turned out, my new friends who happened to be from out of state, graciously covered the entire tab, even when I decided to order alcohol too. I thanked them of course. It was a beautiful lunch in a place I got to experience on a Sunday in August versus the food court on the 1st floor. Major upgrade for sure. The overall experience here at the Texas de Brazil steakhouse here at the Ala Moana shopping center was pretty interesting and it felt upscale, but it was still casual dining, in my experience. Service was excellent and very friendly. Even the server asked our table whether or not it was our first time here and I raised my hand. They explain it to us and I got the gist of it fairly quickly. It was neat to see all the skewered pieces of meat, it's not something you see in restaurants every day, so it was like I said, interesting in the serving and presentation. I personally love meat, especially steak, so it was a treat for me to come here with friends. Although the prices are quite interesting and an eye opener for me, it was an enjoyable meal all around, not because my friends pay for my share. The ambience was fairly awesome and it felt comfortable here. Not sure if they have Wi-Fi, but we were overlooking the Lanai food court. We had some ocean views, but we sat away from the window. A nice place to be at Ala Moana for sure. And so, if you are into something festive and lover of meat, consider coming to the Texas de Brazil restaurant on an empty stomach. They serve alcohol here too, but the prices can be a little up there. But hey, all you can eat! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and in the mood for something different and spicy. The Texas de Brazil steakhouse is located on the 4th floor of the Ala Moana shopping center. It is near the Mama Pho Vietnamese restaurant. Its physical address is 1450 Ala Moana Blvd. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, Ala Moana shopping center has a very generous parking option for anyone and everyone who comes to shop and dine here. If you are like me, many bus routes start or end at Ala Moana shopping center. Choose the right one for you. For the most part though, I thought it was a definite upgrade to my normal Sunday food choice at Ala Moana shopping center. Dining with friends is always a good highlight too. I particularly enjoyed the salad bar and hopefully there is a choice of having the salad bar for a cheaper experience. That's a question I'll ask later on. For now though, the experience here at this Texas de Brazil restaurant is nice for what it is. It's a nice mix to the restaurant culture here at Ala Moana shopping center. This place makes you feel like you're a hungry beggar waiting for the meat to come around once in a while so you can scrounge off a few pieces. They pile cheap crappy sides on your table that you don't ask for so they can try to fill you up while your waiting for another one of their meat cutters to come by so you can tong some scraps of meat on to your plate. We came here for a business meal during a recent trip to Oahu as one of my co-workers is deathly allergic to seafood and I wanted to ensure he had something to eat without worries of cross contamination. The service was great as are most Brazilian Steakhouses and we wanted for nothing during our stay. I will say, this had to be the smallest Texas de Brazil I have ever eaten in, but necessarily so as it's located on the 4th floor of the Alamoana mall and space is a premium in Waikiki...! The inside seats maybe 50 if I had to guess and the salad bar area had many choices but not nearly as many as the ones on the mainland. We also only saw about 8 varieties of meat come past our table, but many second and third passes of those. The lamb and Pachana were both excellent in my book! The bartenders made perfect cocktails and kept 'em coming often decorated with tropical flowers for my wife. You definitely won't leave this place hungry, but if you've been to one on the mainland, just realize this one is about the same but smaller and less meat & salad bar choices. Went for a late lunch, early dinner. Salad bar had a great selection and very clean and fresh. If you dont like spicy becareful, some dishes very spicy. Service was excellent, very attentive. All except one mest dish was very tasty and tender. That one that they gave you one chunk was hard to chew and couldn't swallow, afraid of choking. Had the coconut pie, that was awful. Also we had a gift card, check to be sure they accept it. Honolulu has their own gift cards. Went here for lunch. Had reservations and was seated immediately. The table setting was impeccable. Terry, our waiter, was informative and above all else, very personable. Enjoyed the salad bar, but was blown away with the meats!!! The beef and chicken that I had was juicy and delicious. Big mahalo to the manager, wish I got her name. She came by our table and asked if we had any requests for certain meats. I asked for my beef meats to be well done. I asked and I received!!! The price is outrageous but it's worth it if u bring ur appetite. The salad bar alone is worth the price! The meat is great and very tasty. I would not recommend the chicken or pork. It's dry. The space is HUGE and it was moderately filled but we were seated all the way in the back next to a big party. The meat did not consistently rotate to us and being seated so far away and next to the party ruined the experience. We would go back but request to sit in the main area. Service was excellent. We are typically really big Brazilian steakhouse fans- love fogo de chao in Seattle and Bellevue, and when we moved here we got really excited to try this place. We went for our anniversary and the restaurant gifted us an off menu ice cream item- it was ube technically but we couldn't taste any flavor of note. It was a nice touch and thought though. The service was alright. For the price that you pay for the Brazilian steakhouse experience, it was a little lacking we felt. The meats were good, but came at a lower frequency than we had experienced elsewhere and had a bit more fat than typical. The salad bar was good, carrying all the classics like tabouleh and potato salad, charcuterie items and a soup. Nothing stood out as highly memorable. Our finished plates were not cleared, and we had trouble getting staff for paying the bill at the end. The ambiance was alright- we went on a weekday night and it was probably about half full. The lighting was sufficient and the restaurant had good acoustics, and no music, so I could hear my partner speaking with ease. Unrelated to the review: We had received a gift card from Costco (100$ for 80$) and were sad to find out that this location does not accept the gift cards, they are only redeemable on mainland. This is completely our fault for not reading the fine print, we do not fault the restaurant for this nor did it play into our review. We made reservations but we still had to wait abut 10 mins, which we didn't mind. Our server s incredibly quick to refill drinks, foods on the table, and to ask what we needed. I didn't know this til he told us, but you can tell your server what meats you want to come to your table! I wish we knew that sooner. Texas De Brazil will take you on a journey to a Brazilian culinary cookout. They have variety of salads, sauces and carbs that you've never tasted before. As you eat, they have servers that will come to your table and slice you up Sirloin, Brazilian Sausage, Lamb... it was just too much delicious meat! I wish I had a bigger stomach to keep going! All the meat was tender and so tasty. My wife and I really liked the Sirloin cuts. So delicious it just makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Surprisingly, one of the sides they served was a highlight. Brazilian Cheese Bread. It was extraordinarily simple and addicting to eat. I regret I ate too many that it made me full. To end the evening, we had desserts. They have a variety of cheesecakes but my favorite was the Chocolate Mouse. It was the perfect way to end the evening and I highly recommend it. Take your time on this Brazilian Journey. The waiters are wonderful and the servers are amazingly kind and always there to keep you satisfied. The ambiance is well thought of. My little brother came to visit from Colorado and we have always wanted to try this place so it was a great excuse to go and we had a great time! The food was amazing with so much selection at the salad bar and it came with delicious fries, mashed potatoes, bread and plantains. The meat came coming over and over with large selection of Lamb, filet mignon, bacon wrapped chicken, sausage, and so much more . The servers were very pleasant and made our first experience very relaxing and fun. The atmosphere was very relaxing despite the restaurant being full of people. It was very kid friendly as well with food that kids would enjoy. I was worried to bring kids to such a nice restaurant but there seemed to be a lot of families there as well. Let's start off with the staff NOT washing their hands after using the bathroom. F-ING DISGUSTING!!! The service is a miss depending on who you have and what time you come in. Between 5-8pm, trash service. We came in at 6pm for our anniversary and it was nothing short of disappointing. Inattentive server. You have to literally ask for beverage refills. The meat going around was awful. We stayed there for 1.5 hours and received 6 different meats and definitely not the good stuff. This place is supposed to be known for their elaborate menu. We were lucky to get lamb chops, everything else cheap sausage, chicken and undercooked steak. The majority of our food came rare and straight bleeding on the plate. Unseasoned and undercooked. Two disgusting combinations. Everyone seemed so overwhelmed they stopped caring about service and quality last year. What was even more shocking was when I told the manager about the employee that didn't wash her hands, he knew exactly who I was speaking of. So you know this nasty girl doesn't was her hands, this isn't your first time hearing it and you let her Nasty a work?! From the top to bottom...you guys need a hard look in the mirror. This is not a good representation of our island and the level of quality from this brand. Other locations puts this Brazilian steakhouse to shame. Here's the kicker. We paid $250 and we mainly ate rice, beans and fish from the hot bar. Even after I told the manager of our experience. No discount, no refund, not even a gift card.
