This chain is highly touted in airline magazines, so it's really a person-on-an-expense-account kinda place. In other words, most people wouldn't go here on their own dime. So yeah, I went here on the company dime. There were a lot of good things at the salad bar - I concentrated on lighter fare as I knew what was in store for our main course. So I had a few samples of cheese, some salami, proscuitto, olives and roasted garlic. I missed the lobster bisque, but everyone did rave about it. Then there was the meat. Some items really hit the spot - the pork ribs, sausage and filet mignon were excellent. There was a lot of middle of the road items. And then there was the bad - every chicken item I tried was dry and the lamb just didn't have good flavor. There were side items that come with the meal that mostly went untouched. The plaintains that came with seemed a little undercooked - I didn't try the mashed potatoes, but the bread that was on the table was good and cheesy. We did have dessert - I got the carrot cake. The portion was huge, but it was just okay. There was way too much coconut in it. And the cream cheese frosting was too sweet, I like mine to still have a little bit of the sour cheese taste to it. A carnivore's delight. If you're into meat, more meat and lots of meat, this is the place for you. My sons love it and this seems to be their pick for any time we have cause to celebrate a birthday or some other event. The waiters come to the table about ever 5 seconds with a platter of ribs or filets or lamb chops. They give you a little round disc - one side is green, the other is red. And as long as the green side is up, you plate will continue to fill. The food bar is probably my favorite things about the place. It's much more than salad and soup, but loaded with all sorts of gourmet treats like assorted olives, cheeses, veggies and even sushi. It's huge and it's all you can eat. I sometimes just pass on the meat all together and save my calories for the food bar goodies. If you're in the downtown area and looking for a good, hearty meal, I highly recommend this place. I was very unhappy with my experience. I booked this place for a wedding welcome dinner for 40 people. It was booked in July 2021 for July 2022. During the week of the event I messaged several times and spoke with them to make sure I had done everything I was suppose to. I was told we would have an upstairs room which was good because we had toast to the bride and groom , speeches from best man and maid of honor, etc. We were all dressed up and got there to find out the air was out, we were set on back wall in with everyone else, etc. At no point was I notified and told I would not be getting what I was promised. It was a very chaotic event. I spoke to General manager afterwards and he would not listen and didn't care what I had to say. I had just hosted over a $3000 meal and I was not given what promised and I had one chance to have a great dinner in honor of my son and his bride! He asked to see email and when I told him I had it and started pulling it up he quit talking and got mad. The fact he was rude and wouldn't listen made me as mad as anything. They at least should have had the decency to contact me prior . Come to find out the air has been out since first of May! They had plenty of time to contact me! This is also where I lost my virginity to the Brazilian steakhouse experience many years ago so since it was my first I have extra attachment to it. The meat is frequently brought around and the portions are very generous. The service was attentive and the food bar is kept well stocked with an excellent selection of delicious items. My favorite place to eat when visiting Memphis. The Lobster Bisque here is the best ive ever tasted, and the "Salad Bar" has a great variety. The best thing about this place is that almost every meat comes available wrapped in bacon. This is definitely a novelty restaurant so im sure for those who live locally, the novelty could wear off pretty quickly. Endless amounts of a variety of cooked meats, steak, lamb, pork, chicken you name it (all on their own, or Parmesan or wrapped in bacon). Hmmmm Bacon. The service can be intimidating at times if you dont like to be crowded by numerous men holding their sticks of meat (this is not meant to be rude, its a real account). This is a chain restaurant so you have to have specific expectations. Service is nice and food is good. I love the salad bar. My favorite meats are the filet and parm chz chicken. Desserts look good but didn't have any. One star taken away (and I'm being lenient) because we had made reservations. When I walked in I asked to be seated by the window so they said it would be ten minutes if I wanted the window, so we did. When they sat us after 10-15 min it was NOT by the window and our table looked like it was wiped by a wet cloth so I had to wipe the whole table off myself. My first visit to Texas de Brazil left a good impression. I had previously requested a more private table in my reservation, and they accommodated me and my girlfriend nicely. The waitress was very knowledgeable and very friendly, albeit a tad pushy when it came to recommendations of wine and the like. The all-you-can-eat bar is stocked amazingly, and if you are not careful you can easily get full just on it. The lobster bisque was simple great and the salad options were a nice complement to the meat. The cheese bread was pretty nice and different as well. In regard to the meat, it was a little overwhelming. I mean, you can stop the guys from coming, but with the dinner price you usually want to at least get to try all the cuts, so we kept them coming. Some cuts were nice, others not so much. I would say it was half and half. Our favorite was the filet mignon wrapped in bacon. Man, that thing was very very good. We were celebrating, so we tried some of the sangria. I only wanted a glass, and the waitress brought a whole pitch, which was a bit unfortunate, but we didn't want to be rude and figured it was a party anyway. Still, I would NOT recommend getting a pitcher of that just for 2 people. We had to ATTACK that thing to finish it. Make sure to get a coupon before you go to make the price more accessible. Have been going there on and off for the last five years. It used to be a nice 'dress up' night out but has lost a little of it's gloss over the past few years. The content of the salad bar is great...but it has never changed - same stuff every time. Soup of the day - the waiter will always announce with a flourish that todays soup is 'lobster bisque' - it has been that every day for the last five years! The desert menu also remains unchanged and the tacky faux silver tray with the 'silicon' fake deserts displayed on it is like something you would see in the window of a back street Chinese restaurant window. That being said it is hard to fault the quality, preparation and presentation of the food. Enjoy the salad bar but leave room for the delicious meats and the awesome little warm bread rolls they bring to the table! The days when people felt they needed to dress up for this restaurant have been and gone - expect to see as many people in t-shirts and camo baseball caps as nice dresses . A ridiculous number of tables and chairs are squeezed into the space to the extent that you feel uncomfortably close to the people around you - not conducive to a romantic night out. Nothing wrong with it - but that feeling of a 'special night out' is not really there. Meat is however is AWESOME! but a little salty. Regular visitors will be familiar with the dry mouth that happens about 4 hours after a visit. Drink plenty of water and remember that refills on soda are chargeable items. Finally - parents beware - if you have young children this place is about as 'un child friendly' as it goes. We were foolish enough to take our baby there in her carrier this evening. The mashed potato and caramel bananas was delicious. Ordered merlot and hubby ordered crown and seven (they are not stingy on the crown lol). The salad bar offered variety of delicious cheeses (eat it with prosciutto and wine! Lol). Try the grilled provolone cheese and goat cheese for your salad. My family and I had an enjoyable meal here- yet it could've been a much better experience. This was my first visit, and TDB seemed to be midway between Bern's Steak House in Tampa (a grand dining experience) and Golden Corral, with a little "gaucho" thrown in. The salad Bar was superb both in variety and appearance. One could make a meal of the salad bar- for much less money. The meats, although good, were not the best I've had and tended to be on the salty side. The filet and sirloin were the standouts; the chicken was, well, chicken... Quantity seemed to be taking a back seat to quality with the meats. The desserts were average to excellent- the Key Lime pie was average; the chocolate cake and cheesecake were said to be excellent. The low point of the meal was the service. It was obvious our waitress was terribly over-worked; we had to wait for plates twice, then when they were brought, not enough were brought (which required her to make a second trip for plates both times). We had to wait way too long for our desserts to arrive. It wasn't her fault. Similar restaurants I've been to have had assistants helping the primary server when needed. When one is paying $400+ for a 1 1/2 hour dinner (party of 6), an empty drink glass should be noted by the wait staff within at least five minutes, then refilled quickly. I had to ask for refills twice- when I could finally get the attention of our waitress. I was not offered, nor given, ice and lemon to refresh my drink either time. The first time I went, I was not impressed and neither was my date. The second and most recent time I only went back because my loved one insisted that we go there. When we got there you should have seen the people who were let in after us cut off shorts on a guy with a wife beater and a ton of chains when we brought it up they said the only thing they don't accept is no sleeves on a man which obviously is not true. The staff was rude the gaucho chefs especially at fog they go to each individual person here they came to the foot of the table yelled what they had and waited for someone to raise their hand. Our water glasses were never empty, someone was always checking on us, and the meat was plentiful and cooked perfectly. The salad bar is a favorite especially the garlic potatoes. Disclaimer - this turned out to be my second dinner that night (long story), so I probably wasn't in the best place. Having said that, this place is a pretty solid churrascaria. For those of you who have never visited such an establishment, the concept is pretty straight forward. It's a prix fixe buffet. You start with a center buffet which will include salad, sushi, greens and other items to fill up on. When you've decided you're ready for meat, you flip your little disk over to the green side, at which point you're bombarded by passadores with huge spears with meat on them - and about half of the meat is wrapped in bacon. When the waiter explained everything I swear he said "grouchos" when referring to the meat waiters. It might have been "gouchos", but "grouchos" fit better as they all seemed a bit short and surly that night. The normal waiters were both very friendly and attentive, though. read more

Our family decided to go to Texas de Brazil for my birthday this year. We've been before, but it was still as good as always. Our waiter was on top of it - keeping our drinks straight, and filled. His pleasant attitude was also a nice added bonus. Many in our group enjoyed the Filet - buttery soft and melts in your mouth. Mmm. The Signature Sirloin and all the other steaks, chicken, and sausage were also quite good. There is a bit more salt on the meats than most places have, but the meat is so well flavored. The Smoked Salmon was delicious as was the rest of the salad bar. So many choices, flavors and textures - an incredible salad bar to go with the fantastic meat. If you're not terribly hungry, you can get the Salad Bar by itself - not a bad choice at all. If you have not been yet, schedule a time to take your crew. The house special filet is amazing, the garlic-rub filet is spectacular, anything wrapped in bacon is mediocre at best, and avoid the dry chicken, and the lack of chicken hearts is disappointing. Pair with at least two good bottles of Napa red, finish with the Brazilian cream pie or the off-the-cuff strawberries and cream, and then go enjoy the music of Beale Street a block away. This place is heaven for me. I love this place. Yes, it's pricey, yes they used to give out a lot more coupons than they do now, but the economy hit everyone really hard in '08. Like fall of the bone delicious goodness. I'm salivating over here just thinking about it haha. Seriously, lunch is like $22 for the buffet and dinner is around $42. You get all you can eat salad bar that has soups, sushi, shrimp, bread, and many other finger foods. Then you get these amazing bread rolls at your table as well as fried bananas which are pretty amazing. When you are ready you flip your card to green to let the waiters know to come around to your table and serve the meat. You can get about ten prices or more of filet mignon for $42 bucks. Where else can you do that? It is a more upscale restaurant but I have seen people there in jeans and flip flops- it all depends on preference I guess. Basically, everything they have there is great and you can request certain meats to be brought to your table as well as certain temperatures at which it is cooked. Side note: there desert is amazing as well. If you saved room, try the crepe brûlée or carrot cake or cheese cake. Oh and when you go- please take me!!! It's not even close to Fogo de Chao. If you have never been to other Brazilian steakhouse, then it's a good experience. However if you have, you'll be disappointed here as I was. It's similar to Fire de Brazilin Atlanta which I didn't like either. The meat was a bit hard. It was fresh, but the quality isn't good. However the desert (flan) is really really good. Color me excited! I call, the person who answers informs me they "have brunch items on the salad bar." I'm cool, it's a Churrascaria (Brazilian steakhouse). It's also pronounced (Texas not Tejas as my Latin tongue is inclined to say). I want meat! Let's do it! So first sign that this may not go well. I think it was a date, as per usual I brought a friend and so now it's not a date and kinda awkward, but there is endless meat... So, it may actually go well. Then because downtown parking sucks (pretty much every downtown). We have to pay for parking (heads up, call ahead and see which parking they will validate and save $10 or more). Now then, we get in, we get seated. Brunch comes with 1 free Mimosa (as advertised) and I'm pretty happy because drinks... The Mimosa is ok, not noteworthy other than being complimentary. I visit the salad bar, which is really so much more...It's crudités, canapé, fruit and and extensive olive and cheese offerings. And they have smoked salmon and capers and that makes me happy. There are "brunch items" and it's obvious the opulently decorated restaurant isn't really serving fancy brunch... And I'm ok with that because the cheese and olives are almost worth it... Yes, it's kinda pricey... And I would totally spend my money on fancy cheeses. Back at the table our attentive server has served our water and drinks and is now explaining the green card/red card service dynamic. We all flip our cards... I don't eat pork and I don't like chicken so I pass on all of those offerings. I partake of the lamb, the lamp chop, and two kinds of steak... The second a medallion type is my favorite! I have it twice. The first lamb is my least favorite. It's a little dry and flavorless. Everything else is well seasoned and the cuts are served at different temps, so my friends can have their well done meat and I can have my medium... Again, I was here for the meat and I was more than accommodated. And because I was indulging... I also had dessert. Key Lime Pie! And it was delicious. If my husband were on Yelp and were creating his profile, under Last Meal on Earth, he would pick Texas de Brazil. After eating here, he proudly announces when the "meat sweats" have set in. He also gets a meat high from dinner at Texas de Brazil. I love eating here too, but I always leave completely miserable and seriously considering whether or not I need to go to the hospital. Because it's $50 for all-you-can-eat meat...and I mean, I can't really eat $50 worth of meat, but I paid for it, so I feel like I have to get our money's worth. Plus their salad bar is awesome so in addition to the 8-9 different types of meat they serve, you have all these sides to choose from too. The servers are usually really cute and totally dressed up like swashbucklers, and it's a Brazilian steakhouse but they usually look more Eastern European to me...but maybe I am not good at generalizing ethnicities. Service is almost always excellent. And I don't know much about cooking meat, but it always tastes great to me! The desserts are always awesome too. For us, because of the price, this is a special occasion meal. I would say it's one of my favorite restaurants to go to...mainly because I like to eat a little of a lot of different things, and TdB gives you the opportunity to do so. My husband and I had reservations for over a month. We have always been huge fans of Texas de Brazil. After our most recent experience, we will not be returning. We drove over 2 hours only to be told 30 minutes before our reservation that their air conditioning was not working. Upon further review, it has apparently been out for months. They have been letting patrons book reservations knowing they have no air conditioning. We asked if there is anything they could do to compensate us driving 2 hours for a reservation and the best they could do is 15% off our next meal. Considering how pricey this establishment is, that is nothing. It would be different if the air had just gone out. However, it being out for an extended period of time and failing to let people know is horrible business. It was so hot in there that the workers were sweating in tank tops. Absolutely horrible that they are expected to work in those conditions. The people who went in front of us drove over 3.5 hours and received no phone call at all. We were set upstairs which I didn't care too much for because the salad bar is downstairs and the lighting is very dim BUT the food was delicious and the service was fantastic! Been here a few times. Food is good, but not exceptional. Fun if you are really hungry! The lobster bisque is actually a lobster stock with lots of cream. I have yet to find any identifiable lobster meat in it. I do enjoy the meats, especially the lamb. This last time I discovered the bacon wrapped jalapeno's served as the meat. They were outstanding. The food at this restaurant is very delicious and the service is very nice; however, today's customer looks for the quality ingredients that go in the foods we are served first and foremost. With so many people having chronic health issues related to nutritious intake, it is a must to check to make sure that the restaurants we chose have our health at heart. Unfortunately, I found out that this restaurant uses MSG in the foods it serves. Why including the ingredient that is so controversial that it is banned in some countries? It is a taste enhancer. Why not to use various healthy spices to enhance the taste, I doubt I will come back until the company responds to the consumer's needs, which include excluding additives that do not contribute to one's well being. read more

The steak was excellent and there was as much of it as you wanted, as well as a variety of other types of meat. The quality of food at the salad bar in the center of the restaurant is also superb. I don't recommend ordering cocktails. My margarita was very expensive and turned out to be a splash of cheap tequila over sugar water that one might expect at any other chain restaurant. We tried to get a table a few days earlier by making reservations. The hostess told us that the reservation didn't matter and gave us one of those vibrating things like what you see at Apple-bees and told us the wait would be 30 minutes. MEN: If you're taking a lady out on a date and want to make a good first impression, don't go to a place that publicly gives out vibrating plastic objects. Anyway, when we returned a few days later... Our server seemed eager to get us in and out of the restaurant as fast as possible. Maybe she thought I wouldn't tip well. She rushed through her script without giving us much time to look at the drink menu and checked my ID for about five minutes (a backhanded compliment perhaps?). The quality (and quantity) of the food might have justified the fairly high price at the end of the meal but the "we got plenty of customers so go fuck ya-self" service means I won't be coming back. read more
