Every two years we try to revisit a local favorite to catch up with the changes, particularly if we haven't been since the pandemic took hold. Today it was Texas Roadhouse, a place that has managed to keep their parking lot full ever since opening many years ago. We found it accessible and friendly, with the same food/drink choices and effusive service, but oddly downgraded. Peanuts used to be served in little buckets at each table and in the waiting area, but now comes of packets. Mashed potatoes come in small ceramic dishes on the plate and bacon bits in little disposable plastic cups. Both the marinated chicken and the ribeye steak were tasty but very salty. Caesar salad has no pepper grinder available, only the table shaker and the waitress's apology. Forks were cheapest quality cafeteria metal, very nicked and rough to hold, only one step above plastic. So, every two years we will continue to go back to restaurants that deserve a second or even third try. Texas Roadhouse is not going to be one we revisit. read more

A Foreign Substance (About 0.5 inch) came out from the food, Nov 12. 2021, When I was eating Caesar salad, I heard a crackling sound in my mouth. As soon as I spit a little bit out of my mouth, something like a half of inch of plastic-substances came out. For a moment, I had a terrifying thought that I might have eaten these substances, and I was so surprised that I went to the bathroom and spit out all the rest of my mouth, then rinsed it off with water. I was so startled by such this situation so that I forgot about the pain in my back molars for a while. I explained the situation to the server and the manager, when they first are explained the situation, their attitude did not show any signs of regret at all. When I handed over the foreign substance, it went through a verification process after that, and only then was handed a sentence of apology and they said they would take care of the dental treatment. I felt so bad, and I don't think I will eat here any more. They said they would contact me again, then I'll post the additional review after their response. read more

Currently visiting some family here in Idaho Falls so we decided to come have dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Aside from some unusual stares, everything was good for the most part. Hannah provided excellent service & was really patient with my grandfather, and we all enjoyed our meals. I ordered the sirloin & shrimp combo with the loaded mashed potatoes & a Caesar salad. The sirloin & shrimp were really good. The mashed potatoes were good as well but there was a bit too much cheese on top that wasn't melted. The Caesar salad was a little skimpy and when I asked for a few more croutons, the guy brought out a whole bowl full (not sure if he was trying to be funny, but whatever). The bread is amazing as everyone already knows and we shared the rattlesnake bites which were very good as well. I had a strawberry lemonade, my brother and grandpa had a glass of Pinot noir (which I tasted and really liked) and my mom had some Merlot. Again, overall, we enjoyed ourselves. We waited double the wait time. They told us 45-55 mins and it took an hour and 40 minutes just to sit down. The music was so obnoxiously loud that you could barely hear each other at the dinner table. Then, of course the food took foorrrreeeevvveer to get to the table and was just okay. We wont be going to this location anymore. Had we know it would have taken so long we would have gone somewhere else. The hostess kept telling us 10 more minutes every time we asked after the hour mark. read more

My wife and I LOVE Texas Roadhouse! The food tastes amazing, they have unlimited refills on their lemonades, which we love! The sirloin is delicious, my wife always get the sirloin and I really like the Country Fried Sirloin. I've also enjoyed the Baby Back Ribs! They are usually fall-off-the-bone good and perfectly sauced! The Blooming Onion (or whatever their equivalent is called) is a great appetizer when you have a lot of people! read more

This is the best chain restaurant in Idaho falls and always packed and busy - if you like that. The rolls are great, perhaps the highlight and free. Service is good, after you get seated. This is our preferred sit down restaurant for the whole family. read more

Love Texas Roadhouse I've been here dozens times and always fill up before my meal on the amazing rolls. Guys take the rolls home and eat your meal first but for real love the food. We visited my bestie in Wyoming, we drove to Idaho Falls for the heck of it. We were hungry and ended up here at Texas Roadhouse. They were very busy but we got seated right away. The waitress took our order and minutes later we got our food. OMG! The rolls were so good, even without the house special butter, just delicious. We ordered the fried pickle for appetizer, they were so good. And the ribs (1/2 and full slabs), side salad, green beans, wild strawberry lemonade and iced tea!! So so delicious and we didn't finished it all. The portion was awesome and the prices, just right. Halle was attentive with refilling the drinks and the rolls and came to checked on us frequently. The staff were so nice, professionally and friendly. I highly recommended Texas Roadhouse in Ammon, Idaho. If we ever go back, we'll definitely heading back there. read more

I've always gone to Texas Roadhouse for the lively spirit, kind servers/staff, and good food. Unfortunately, this location has failed in every one of those departments. First, I requested one of the servers I'd had before and the hostess at the stand was very rude and obstinate that they wouldn't be able to do that. Luckily another hostess was there to help me get a manager to see if it was possible and *voila* it worked out fine. Elie is a kind server who takes care of her guests. She's great each time I go, and was understanding when my steak was overcooked and got it fixed, although the manager who helped was less than understanding. Probably one of the worst Texas Roadhouses I've been to in the US. The call ahead (reservation) service is a total joke. Just tonight we called in at 3pm for a 7:30pm seating. Got there at 7:25 and expected to wait a few minutes. She said we would be up soon in a "few" minutes. We waited until 7:50pm and asked when it would be. She said at least another 15-20 minutes but it can clearly be seen that people who just came in were seated before us, especially since we HAD A RESERVATION. It's just so annoying to deal with some young girl at the front who knows nothing and can't tell the truth. Instead she says she has to talk to the other young girl who actually does the seating. Must take a lot of blonde girls to do a simple job. Anyways terrible service. Manager should give me free meals at the time requested. read more

I'm sorry it's just not what we were expecting. We got right in the door at 4:45pm on a Friday, The place was hopping. We were greeted by very friendly staff and seated right away. We were new to the place so the waitperson brought us a sample of their side dishes which I thought was nice. My wife ordered chicken fried steak and I ordered the steak kabob and a beer. The waitstaff was really friendly and attentive and the food was brought pretty quick. However the chicken fried steak was heavily battered and had a lot of gristle in it so it was very chewy. My steak kabob was cooked to order, medium, but was very chewy/tough as well. Also, it had a very heavy marinade of what I can only describe as Heinz 57 steak sauce and it covered up the steak flavor. Side note here, I don't like Heinz 57 sauce at all. The side dishes were really good, green beans and mashed potato's. Like I said, the place was packed and it does have a good reputation, so we're chalking it up to just an off night or the food they serve just isn't for us. Service, food, the to go box with extra rolls. I wouldn't recommend not calling first and standing in line... but I am definitely going back over and over. The porterhouse is delicious! The rice? Where do I begin? Not a great experience for multiple reasons, but since this is a restaurant review let's start there. The ribeye I had was very fatty and a bit chewy cooked at medium rare. For the price I would have expected a bit leaner cut of meat. The combo platter was alright as the rattlesnake bites are pretty good, but not good enough to maintain a higher rating after tonight. The boneless chicken wings tasted, well, questionable. Rather airy and dry with a stringy texture. I mentioned this, they brought out replacements that were no better. The loaded potato skins were nothing to brag about, just cheddar cheese and bacon. Where things go really downhill is after we left, I noticed that I had left my phone on the corner of the table within 5-10 minutes of leaving. My first step was to call my phone as there was a chance it was in the car. It rang and went to voicemail but was not located. We proceeded to cal the restaurant, who said they had not had it turned in. We returned to the location and proceeded to try and call my phone again at which point my phone no longer rang or went to voicemail, but rather gave me a message saying that the subscriber could not be reached. As if the SIM card had been removed. I don't like making accusations, but as we were one of the last 6 people in the restaurant, among the other facts I am suspicious. read more
