Went for Supper Tuesday night, my grandson and I both ordered 16 oz ribeyes which my grandson chose our 2 from the meat case and they labeled them. These steaks were delicious and juicy. Our server was excellent. I had salad and a baked potato and he had fries and green beans. The green beans were canned but seasoned my salad was cold and crisp the baked potato was good and hot. Like I've said for other chain restaurants, the key is to keep your expectations low. The food here is so affordable, I paid $12 for the country fried sirloin and took more than half of it home cause I filled up on the unlimited rolls (let me marry that whip please). Why 3 stars? (1). The suggested tip uses the total bill (food + tax) to calculate your suggested tip---that is incorrect and an automatic 1 star deduction when I notice it; (2) the salad tasted like it was majority cabbage as opposed to lettuce--had I wanted cabbage I would have sought out an order of cole slaw and (3) the red meat (steak) was very salty. That's just this writers opinion---someone else may have loved the extra cabbage and the salty flavor. That said, this location is a well-oiled machine---plenty of staff to pay attention to you and make sure you have bread and drinks are refilled---also the staff is polite and happy---orders are efficiently taken and food comes out quick---we were in and out in an hour and that was with us taking g our time---that's great. My family and I come to this Texas Roadhouse often. Usually, things go pretty well. But not today. The best part was our waitress. She was super kind and very officiant. She even took 2 basket of rolls to bring to our table. The drinks and appetizer were quick coming out, but not the food. We sat for an HOUR before we got our food. People who came in after us got their food before us. When we got our food everything was either lukewarm or cold except for the baked potatoes and mashed potatoes. Got the beef tips. It was cooked well down just as order and had good flavor, but as said above it was lukewarm. In my honest opinion there were more grilled onions than beef tips. Overall, it was an ok experience. I know. Giving five stars to a chain restaurant doesn't sound right. But I am no snob. We've never had a bad experience at this restaurant. When we eat in, the service is fantastic, and the food specials and drink specials are great. The food we've ordered, such as hamburgers, steaks, and country fried chicken are delicious. When we don't eat in, we are very satisfied with their take-out service. Quick and easy. This is one of our go to places. I'm not sure why it only has three stars. UPDATE: I'm not sure WHY I came back here to dine in. I thought that I could overlook the subpar service because the food is delicious. My experience here this time was much worse than my original review. I sat at the bar because there was no wait. I sat next to an empty seat with an old salad bowl and old entree plate left by the person that sat there before I came. Those dishes were there the duration of my visit. The managers ran food to the bar and overlooked the old bowls, plates, and glasses that were there. No one ever cleaned off the old plates off of the bar. It took the bartender at least 3 minutes to greet me and even longer to take my order. My steak OVERCOOKED and TOUGH and FLAVORLESS. I've never had a Texas Roadhouse steak as bad as that one. I ordered a ribeye cooked medium, the steak was cooked in between medium well and well done. The bartender didn't even check to see if my order was right as she should have. She practically ignored me to tend to her friend that sat at the bar. I'm super annoyed. I would've given this location five stars, but there were a few things that were slightly inconvenient during my experience. I used to work as a server at another Texas Roadhouse location for three years, so I know how everything is supposed to go for guests dining in. First, this location is extremely busy. There were people everywhere! The wait was fairly long, so I asked to sit at the bar. The bar was completely full, so I waited a little more than 45 minutes to be seated at a table. No biggie, TRH is always busy. The hostesses were sweet while everyone waited. It didn't take very long for my server to greet me at my table. As soon as she came to my table, she asked me if I was ready to order. She seemed super rushed, and I could tell that she wasn't happy to be there. I went ahead and ordered my food. Instead of having my salad come out first, all of my food came out at once. Salads are supposed to come out a few minutes after the order is placed. When she brought my steak to my table, I asked about my salad because I didn't get it before the steak. She sort of pulled my salad from underneath her arm. She was holding my salad bowl between her arm and her side. I guess they don't require servers to bring food out on trays anymore? I definitely would've preferred to have her hand me my salad bowl from a tray. Who wants food from underneath your arm? The steak was delicious, though. The seasoning was perfect, and they cooked it medium like I ordered it. I didn't need ANY steak sauce. The salad and loaded mashed potatoes were bomb too. Today is my Beautiful Daughter Birthday. So she chose here for her dinner. And let me say this was an excellent choice. My oldest order a ribeye steak loaded bake potato and green beans. My lil one had the rib basket and they both enjoyed. Well as for Daddy I ordered the grilled salmon with loaded bake potato and a house salad with all the trims with Italian dressing and I must say the fish was season to perfection. I've been to this location multiple times and it's never given me any issues. However, the last time I went it was not as great as it usually was. I went on a Friday for lunch and was sad to see they had changed their lunch special days and that Fridays did not apply. Despite this, I was still excited for my chicken critters plate. The chicken was super delicious as always, but they never brought out our other sides for either of our meals which were side salads. Other than that, the only thing that bugged me was how greasy and gross the restaurant was. The table and menus were super greasy. I pretty much did not want to touch anything. We are huge fans of Texas Roadhouse, especially the Lafayette, LA location. This review is regarding the Baton Rouge location. I now live in BR, and we've dined in once and have picked up other orders. Prior to tonight the pick up orders have been hit and miss - food never ready on time, items in the order missing,, etc. We thought maybe it was lack of staff - COVID has caused this to happen among a lot of local restaurants. Tonight was the worst. While the steaks were "good", everything else was subpar. The biggest disappointment was the cactus blossom. I have included a picture. Just like anyone else, we tried to figure out what we wanted to eat and thought of the rolls and butter that Texas Roadhouse! Unfortunately once we were there we realized why we do not visit often. Service started off great but was really slow towards the end. Felt like our server had tables across the restaurant at times but she was sweet. Food was on the bland side as everyone had to add salt and pepper. I guess that is what it's there for right? I don't know, just seemed uninspired but maybe my hopes were too high.
