I'm not usually a steak fan, when we go to steak places to eat I order anything but steak. For some reason when we went here I did try one,Dallas Filet, and it was so good! The steak was very tender and juicy. I absolutely love their salad and house made dressings too! I've been here several times and will continue to go. We called for take out and was put on hold for five minutes, we called back and no one answered. We arrive at the location to children working the front desk. Eating cookies with their hands, then waited an additional 5 minutes to just be sat because we got here so we might as well sit and eat right?! Well guess again cause after being moseyed on down to our booth it was disgusting. The table and the bench was riddled with crumbs and liquid. So we're currently waiting for our order in the waiting area a hostess leaving was jumping on another employee with her legs wrapped around them. This is an unprofessional restaurant. We went at 4:30 pm Saturday. Did not have to wait too long to be seated. They said they could not seat us at a booth at the bar, which we had told the guy who was doing the booking that we wanted, but when we went by the bar, there were four booths open, My husband ordered the fillet medallions medium rare, but they came almost raw. I ordered a sirloin that was very, very tough. We did tell our waitress that the food was not good, and she asked us if we wanted to talk to the manager, but we said No. Also my husband had to wait 15 minutes for a second beer. My parents and I stopped in for lunch over the weekend. We were seated immediately and our server was over to our table quickly. The service was great! He was engaging and offered several suggestions from the menu. We started with the Cactus Blossom with is golden fried onion goodness with a very yummy Cajun dipping sauce. For lunch I ordered the Sirloin which comes with two sides. The steak was good - well seasoned and cooked as I requested! I liked that the server stayed after he brought out the steaks to make sure they were cooked as requested! For my sides I ordered a salad and loaded baked potato. We stopped at this spot on our return road trip from the DC area. This chain tries to be a steak house and it appears to be a step above Longhorn, but that isn't really saying much. When you enter, once one of the clustered employees acknowledges you, they offer for you to pick a steak from the array on display in the case. While the cut selection wasn't awful, there was very little marbling in them. Even the ribeye was lacking. We knew before going in that we were not going to have steak, but we looked anyway. We get seated in the bar area despite the fact that there were plenty of booths available. This was puzzling, but not too bad. Just very little table real estate. Our server Aisha greets us. She is chipper and polite. I order a beer and the wife orders water. She comes back with the water and offers to get me one as well. Sure, I tell her. She brings me a water. She asks if we need anything else. I say, my beer? She says okay, anything else besides my beer she asks. No, just the beer please. She goes away. We are in the bar area! Why does it take 10 minutes to get a bottle of beer? She passes by us again and asks if I would like a mug with my beer. Sure, just can I actually get my beer? Finally, I get my beer. What an adventure. So we look over the menu and chow down on the delicious rolls and cinnamon butter. They were really good. We decide on our entrees and order. Aisha offers to bring more bread. We decline. Too many calories, you know. I order the country fried chicken, mashed potatoes (all the way), and green beans. The wife orders grilled shrimp over rice and a side salad. ...and we wait... We begin to wonder, as we watch Aisha amble to and fro, where the wife's salad may be. Twenty minutes later, still no salad. We wonder, surely she won't bring it with the entree. I order another beer and we are assured that our order is coming up. ...and we wait... Thirty minutes in, Aisha returns to the table to inform us that the computers crashed and therefore our order placed by her had not been entered. Huh? We have been sitting here watching people get fed this entire time. Even folks who came in after us had their meals. Aisha offers to bring more bread while we wait. NO! We don't want anymore bread! Out come the salad. Yea! About 15 minutes later out come our entrees. The chicken was fried okay and was moist, but the gravy was lacking. And it wasn't white gravy which I found odd. The mash was luke warm and covered in white gravy, cheese, and bacon bits. Tasty, but not up to temp. The green beans, while looking inviting, were cold and over salted. The wife's shrimp were cooked well but the rice was not up to temp and bland. The wife was picking up the tab for this meal as this was my birthday road trip, and she was quick to say to me, "She will NOT be getting anywhere close to 20 percent!". Texas Roadhouse is a relatively cheap place to enjoy texas style steaks and sides. They are usually pretty busy, so there might be a wait for a table... but luckily there are peanuts to munch on while you wait in the front area. As you are seated, they bring some hot buns and honey butter to your table... these are sooo good, don't fill up on them before you get your steak! The menu selection is pretty basic with steaks and chicken on the majority of dishes... I have only tried the filets there, and they are very decent. The place is a bit hokey, they do this dance when a song comes on... i think Cotton Eyed Joe... if you don't mind that type of atmosphere I think you will like Texas Roadhouse. read more

The food was good. Not life changing, but absolutely good enough that I will be going back. It certainly fixed the steak craving I was having. I had the ribeye with the green beans and caesar salad. My kids had the hot dog and apple sauce and the mac'n'cheese and steamed veggies. The salad and green beans stole the show for me, as did the service. We were sat in the bar area and even though there was a completely full bar and full seating area around the bar (maybe 6 extra 4-top tables) all of our needs were met with chipper fast service. The bartender even went out of her way to make my kids sundaes for dessert when ice cream wasn't even on the dessert menu. The peanuts were a total hit with the kiddos as was the line dance that happened in the middle of the restaurant by all the employees while we were there. I completely suggest this place to the mommas and the poppas that want a decent steak while their kids can be entertained and distracted enough by all the stuff that's happening around them that you can actually enjoy it. read more

I would probably rate Texas Roadhouse 3.5 stars, but I'm giving it an extra bump for completely surprising me. Thing is: I really don't like chains. I have horror stories. I expect certain things from them, but I wasn't expecting a delicious steak meal. But I'll pretty much try anything, so went along when it was chosen for our lunch spot. Pretty much blown away by the service! When we walked in, there were at least 3 hostesses all smiling and greeting us. They give your table freshly made buns with delicious cinnamon butter. Our server was super nice. When she asked, I told her it was my first time there, and she sent out a complimentary first-time guest side sampler. I had the New York Strip. It was excellent - probably cooked a little less than I requested, but I'm not picky. My two sides were plain mashed potatoes and green beans (the green beans have bacon in them... really delicious). From my sampler, I would also recommend the corn. Would definitely go back here, especially if I'm around North Durham. A good, reliable, inexpensive steakhouse with impeccable service. I had the worst experience ever. My 8-year-old son chose to celebrate his birthday at Texas Roadhouse. It was a party of 10 I tried to call and give the hostess a heads up 2 hours before we were arriving. I was told that they only do call ahead seating when the entire party has arrived. When we were finally seated they seated us at two different booths. We were sitting across from each other. A waitress only acknowledged one table even after we told her we were a party of 10. She told us that she was not assigned to that table and did not know who the waitress would be that would be taken care of. After getting one table settled she finally decided to go insert the other table. I ordered a Long Island iced tea and a cup of ice water. By the time the waitress brought me my drink from the bar it had been sitting so long that the ice had watered it down. My glass of water along with two other guests that were with us all had things floating in it we sent them back and received three new glasses that also had the exploding in it. When we finally received our food everyone had food but one guess we were almost done eating by the time she received her order. Our waitress apologized and said she would take the meal off our ticket. When we received our ticket the meal had been discounted by $2 and not taking off. When I asked to see a manager the waitress left and came back and told us her manager took an additional $3 off but was not available to come and speak with us. We asked three different times to have to wait staff sing Happy Birthday to my son before someone came. I don't think I will be visiting Texas Roadhouse anymore. read more

The service was great, too bad the food wasn't. I ordered the prime rib, medium. It was very dry, so dry, that without the au jus it was served with, it would have been inedible. My wife had chicken, it was dry. Our baked potatoes didn't have enough butter, making them dry as well. Our waitress was very attentive, and in the past the food has been good. May be this was a bad Friday night. I am sure we will eat there again, as my Mom and sister live close and there are few places worth mentioning to sit down and eat in North Durham. read more

So I visited Texas Roadhouse again a week later. Sooner than expected but it's March Madness (insert sad face, UNC is now out) and we wanted to watch the games and have drinks far from Franklin St lol. This time I got the grilled shrimp and rice and I was pleasantly surprised. The rice and shrimp were so flavorful! Also, it was a pretty large portion so I basically had enough for 2 meals (especially after over indulging in sweet yeast rolls and whipped cinammon honey butter). The rice doesn't count as a side so for $15 I got 10 pieces of shrimp over the bed of rice, salad and a sweet potato w/marshmallows (my 2 sides). The cocktails are prepared well but nothing to write home about. I am partial to martinis though. This is far from fine dining but no one walks in with those expectaions anyway. If you want good affordable food (and a place to watch sports....at the bar) then I recommend this place. I see myself returning more often than not. read more

Sometimes I eat in Durham & other times at the Burlingon location. Love it! Each time I go - always great service and wonderful tasting food! I used to be a huge Outback fan, but now take me to TRH! Bryan and I went here Friday night, Now I don't usually do chains, but Texas Roadhouse's Burger is Amazing, One of the Best! Cooked to perfection, (Medium) perfect Bun, toasted just right. Bryan got a steak, which he loved only thing is he got it Medium Well, and said he should have stuck with Medium. Bryan and I go here every now and then, but I think we'll be going more often, especially if we can sit in Veronica's Section, She made the whole experience that much better. We ate here as it is close to our family member. Their notification system gave the same message 2x so we went in and were seated. We were there 1 hour after it opened. The silverware was dirty and wet so cleaned it ourselves as the server was running ragged. My glass was also grimy on the outside. Meal was OK. Can you put a negative? Order an appetizer, our salads came out first. Then the waitress kept coming back to tell us our cactus blossom should be coming anytime. 20 minutes later after our salads were done she let us know that the first blossom was kind of burnt so they were making us a new one which will be ready 2 minutes . She then came back and said it wasn't ready yet and they won't charge us but she will still bring it out. 5 minutes later it came out and 2 minutes later another waitress came and brought us a second one. After we finished the salad and appetizer the waitress returned to say our food should be almost done. 5 minutes went by and we were full by this time but we couldn't find our waitress to tell her never mind cause we were mad by this time. When we found her she told us that once again it would be ready in 2 minutes. We said forget it. She asked did we want it packed up, uh no that defeats the purpose of going out. She then proceeded to say that she was going to get the manager. Do you know that sorry manager did not even come to our table to see what our concerns were??
