Tony Roma's is located in Durham, NC. It is attached to the Delta Marriott Hotel. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was seated quickly when I arrived and got to pick from a low or high table. I selected a low table with a view of the basketball game.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot is good sized and has free parking. The restaurant had a health score of 95. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was sticky where I sat, so not the best first impression.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu had various items but just a few selections in each category. They offer a few salads, a few burgers, some steaks, ribs, some chicken and seafood options too. It took a while for the manager to take my drink order. I was thirsty so drank it fast. I expected a refill. But that never happened and I was ignored all night as was the table next to me. When I sat down, the bartender was very flustered. A group was trying to get to an event and she was struggling with the check. She was then in tears and I am not sure where she disappeared the rest of the night. That should have been my red flag to go elsewhere. I knew this was going to be a meh meal from the moment my order was taken, I went with the 6 ounce filet medallions and asked for a baked potato instead of mashed potatoes. It is spelled as "medaillons" on their menu. Check the website if you don't believe me. The typo should have been a sign to order something else. It was to come with up to three gourmet toppings, I wasn't asked if I wanted those or even how I wanted the meat cooked. I was never brought any complimentary bread like was given to the tables near me. My food came out fairly fast, the quality is what you'd expect of a lower level chain. I wasn't served filet mignon. I'm not sure what it was but it wasn't that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tv went off soon after my meal arrived. I pointed to it to the manager but he ignored the problem. I wanted to see the Duke game. The other tv was not a good view like that one was. I asked another employee later and she attempted to fix it but didn't seem to know how to connect it. I think it just had to be turned back on as it seemed the timer shut it off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I patiently waited for over 30 minutes for my check. Service here is a hot mess. I was tempted to just walk out as they had forgotten about me. The restaurant seemed to have plenty of staff and was not busy. But they failed to refill my iced tea, check on my table or other tables. I did complain about my 30 minute wait for the check so was given 10% off. But that isn't enough to get a return visit. I left a minimal tip, because service was non-existent. The small discount didn't make up for being ignored all night, no drink refill when my glass was empty, not bringing the complimentary bread and the delay in receiving my check. I do hope the employees receive better training so they can learn how to properly service their tables and multitask. This place also needs to be better managed. 3 stars for the food but 1 star for the poor service. read more

Came by for a dinner after driving from ATL. My experience wasn't the best. I believe the place was short staffed but that wasn't communicated. Waited about 20 minutes to be seated but there was no host or anyone at the front. We decided then to seat ourselves at the bar instead of going somewhere else. The Bartender was very kind and made up for our initial impression but was obviously overextended. She tried her best to keep up with the drink orders and serving guest in the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The rest of the restaurant was quiet. No music playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There were other guests drinking and maybe one or two servers. Food was okay as well. Nothing really stood out. We ordered the potato skins, pasta primavera, New York strip, and a couple of cocktails. It served the purpose we set out for. Fourth time I've been there this year. And it was a disappointment. Usually we get ribs, which are absolutely perfect. This last visit we got steaks. A ribeye and a sirloin. Both were fair. Our server was also the bartender and was very slow to deal with us. Plus, got the order slightly wrong, but not worth returning the food. The ribs are so good that we will go back but a real shame about the steaks. They should be able to do better than that. My sirloin was not tender nor flavorful and a little overcooked. read more

I was staying at the Delta Marriott at this restaurant is connected to he was looking for a place to watch the Super Bowl. I tried the sports bar down the street, but it was full so I ended up going here.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I set up at the bar, but was having trouble hearing the bartender as there were TVs mounted above my head, whose speakers were on high[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a beer and he asked me if I wanted it in the class which was a nice touch. The bartender was efficient, but not necessarily friendliest guy in the world. I started with the baked potato soup and then had an order of buffalo wings. Both were pretty good. However, I realized they did not have a napkin and asked the bartender for a napkin. Instead of giving me a cough nap and he simply gave me some of the cocktail napkins. Apparently, they must close at 9 PM as at exactly 9 PM. I was given my check with no explanation. The good thing was that I was ready to go. Another guy at the bar had a steak and it looked pretty good. When in the area again, I may give it a shot. I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

Went to this restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Ordered the steak medallions. And hubby ordered the steak medallions and half a rack of baby back ribs. The steak medallions was more on the tough side with little flavor . The baby back ribs had no flavor just a lot of sauce. The best thing was the green beans and the mashed potatoes that came with the meal. We did enjoy the drinks from the bar. I had a piña colada and my husband had an old-fashioned. This chain restaurant is tucked away in the Delta Hotel in RTP. Staying in the hotel, it fit the bill for us for dinner. We were given a comfy booth and had very friendly service, good drinks and food and prices were surprisingly not as high as we thought they might be since prices weren't on the online menu. Husband had a burger which he very much liked. I had the shrimp scampi which was good, but very plain. Would have loved some spinach or something like that in it. The amazing part was the brownie sundae. I'm not a brownie or a sundae person, but let me tell you, it's a killer dessert! read more

We got there and it wasn't very busy. Our waitress took 20 minutes just to get us water. Another 10 minutes for drinks. I had to go to the bar to get ours. The food was great, the service was subpar (our waitress was very inattentive), and the ambiance is very bright and inviting (a welcomed change from the heavily dimmed restaurants). It is a nice and casual family friendly restaurant. They accept reservations as well, which I would highly recommend if you have a large party. We enjoyed the ribs (falling off the bone!), green beans, and fries, and chicken alfredo florentine. The food arrived at the perfect temp and everything tasted so fresh. We ordered the brownie bites with Oreo ice cream to go and it was the perfect dessert to end the night. This location is attached to a Marriott hotel so there is plenty of parking. I would definitely return to try their bbq trio, nashville hot chicken sandwich, or any of their delicious looking cocktails. They have a full bar area open for seating as well. Cons: They do not list their non alcoholic beverages, sides, nor do they have a kids menu on the main menu (not sure if they have one at all). I tried calling a few times but wasn't able to get through on the phone so I ended up heading downstairs to order in person. Wait was about 20 minutes for takeout. RTP is a tough place to find places for lunch and dinner sit down. My friend asked me to lunch at TR and I remember this place for PacNW. We had great food and service at lunch. Lunch portion nice chicken with Chicken Alfredo Florentine was so tasty! So good I came back with my husband for dinner! Much busier still great service, drinks and food. It's a bit bright lighting to set a more romantic mood but still really great. It definitely a chain but I appreciate an alternative steak, seafood and chicken place in RTP! We now know why this restaurant left the Charlotte area. The food (beef ribs) did not match the picture on the menu or website. My wife ordered a bake potato with only butter and instead received sour cream. Ask server for some butter and they did not bring it for at least 15 minutes. Should I say the bake potato was very cold by this point. We stop another server and asked them for butter and they did not come back for at least 20 minutes and then asked if we had received the butter that we had requested. Discovered Tony Romas was in Durham. Last time I ate at one was in Las Vegas years ago. I had to try this one. I thought the ribs were good, good flavor, no fatty bits, but weren't exactly fall-off-the-bone. The salad was very good. My brother-in-law got a Bloody Mary which he said was very good. The decor is very modern, not like the old Vegas restaurant. I think this is a cool addition to the area and will definitely go back and try again. I recommend making reservations. read more

I recently stayed at the Delta Hotel, and having Tony Roma's right in the hotel was a wonderful bonus! The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing- worth every penny. I ordered the Kickin' Shrimp as an appetizer and the beef ribs for my main course. If you're a shrimp fan, you have to try the Kickin' Shrimp; it was seasoned to perfection! When the waitress brought my ribs to the table, the entire restaurant turned to look. I was SHOCKED by the generous portions! The ribs were perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. Well, this is an odd one for me. I never ate here, so no comments on the food. I will however, never go to this establishment, as their service is unacceptable. I booked a reservation on OpenTable, 4 or 5 days before Valentines day, yeah, I was late, I get it. But, on OpenTable, Tony Roma's had openings. Great ! Until it wasn't. The day before V-day they canceled my reservation with NO explanation. Super un-cool. Here is the kicker, you can still make a reservation on OpenTable at the time of me writing this. Absolutely one if the best restaurants in North Carolina. We had dinner this evening at Tony Roma's in Durham, NC. We had, perhaps one of the best waitresses ever. Her name is Andrea and she is from Venezuela. She was so cordial and helpful. The food was the BEST. We enjoyed potatoe skins and the onion rings for appetizers. And the drinks were nice, too. We ordered baby back ribs (the BEST ANYWHERE), filet medallions, a Caesar salad, a house salad, green beans, and fresh red potatoes mashed. The salads and meals were scrumptious and so perfectly prepared. And for dessert, the three of us had blueberry and peach cobbler with fresh vanilla bean ice cream. The General Manager Kelli introduced herself to us and she was very nice, too. The restaurant is next to the Delta Hotel, one of the Marriott hotels. If you're looking for great ribs, this is still the place you want to go even in North Carolina, and the fries are hot crispy and delicious. Their long-famous onion loaf, not so much: what once was a unique and delicious signature item is now mediocre regular onion rings squashed into a loaf shape. This store is attached to a Delta Hotel by Marriott, and has all the ambiance of an IHOP: very brightly lit, loud, and with uninspired furnishings. Service was fine, but given a not-very-busy evening there it felt a big sluggish. read more

Where to start. When you walk in, the lighting is garishly bright. The whole place needs a dimmer switch, or lower watt bulbs. After a long day, the lighting was not pleasant. Also, there is a low key whine/hum coming from the open kitchen that promises a headache. Service. Initially friendly. When we sent the cold soups back, we observed wait and kitchen staff looking at our table, laughing and gesturing. We said forget about the soups, as we were concerned they were going to do something to our food. Very unprofessional. Food. Just ok. Forgettable. While the food is not bad, I wish I could say the same for the service. Twice I have experienced poor service. The first time I ended up walking out after waiting 20 min. for someone to take my order. Once she took my order she came back again to ask what I wanted. That is when I left without ordering anything. I decided to try them again last week. My grandson and I went there and it wasn't that crowded. We sat for 10 min. before the waitress came to take our orders. We both requested water. My grandson ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and I ordered the grilled salmon dinner and Maker's Mark neat. After another 10 min. we had no water, nor my cocktail. A man that obviously worked there came in through the front door and saw us sitting there with nothing. He asked if we had been waited on. I told him yes, but the waitress never bought us water or my cocktail. He apologized and immediately got it for us. The waitress finally brought my grandson his salad, but no food for me. By now 45 minutes has passed. I called the waitress over to ask where my salmon dinner was. She replied that it takes a long time to cook, at which point I told her to cancel my order and to bring me my check. I've placed that ordered other times and it never took 45 min. to cook. I paid the bill and did not leave a tip. We left with my son full, and me nothing! I was upset because I was having a medical procedure in two days. That evening was the last day I could eat solid food. The next day was only liquids. I ended up going to Bojangles and getting a wing special. I won't be going back to Tony Roma's anytime soon. read more

We started off by receiving flat sodas due to the machine breaking and them having to use bottled soda. Then the complimentary bread came out cold in the middle. I still ate it - it's bread! We took a number of customers to Tony Roma's last night. There were 10 of us , so a decent party. From the moment we walked in the door you could sense the experience wasn't going to be a good one. I was greeted by the hostess who looked disinterested and asked how she could help. No smiles or welcomes, we told her we had a reservation and she pointed us to our table. Our server also did not smile and seemed like she wished she was anywhere else but at work. I ordered an Old Fashioned from the drink menu, which arrived 10 minutes later and was way too sweet. We ordered appetizers for the table , which we actually pretty good. (Buffalo shrimp, spinach artichoke dip, and potato skins). At this point I thought this might be ok, the service was sketchy but the food was ok. But then we ordered our entrees and the wheels fell off. Three of us ordered the ribeye; mine I ordered medium rare, customer 1 ordered medium, and customer 2 ordered medium. All three steaks came back well done (leather style). So don't bother telling them how you want it. My friend ordered the beef ribs, they were drastically undercooked (had to pry it off the bone) and had literally half a bottle of bbq sauce on them. They were just dripping in sauce. Another customer ordered the Salmon and shrimp but with the butter sauce on the side. What he received was his salmon on a plate and a bowl of butter and shrimp soup. When he asked to have just the butter on the side ,the server was clearly perturbed and huffed of returning with a bowl of butter and a separate plate of shrimp. Everyone else had the hamburgers , which thankfully, were pretty good. It was an embarrassing experience for us as hosts for the dinner. When you think of steak house you expect a level of service and food quality, they missed this level horribly. We knew it wouldn't be a Ruth Chris type experience, but were hoping for a Long Horn or Texas Roadhouse type of experience. Instead it was more like Denny's. We will never return. You wouldn't guess this restaurant is attached to the Delta hotel but it is. It's nice and comfy. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip which was really good. For my entree I ordered the chicken breasts with spinach artichoke dip on top with breadcrumbs, seared green beans and rice. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I'd order it again. The coffee- cz I always have coffee after my meal. The coffee was TRASH. They need better coffee. Or bring your own coffee from Starbucks or wherever else you get your coffee from. read more
