This is one of the most American Restaurant in Illinois! The food here is big bad and beautiful! I could barely finish half the food I was served because it's all jumbo sized. Decor is improving as time goes on and am very proud to have eaten here. I would not recommend having more than one cinnamon butter rolls because you'll get stuffed before the main course. The 1 star is for the cinnamon honey butter that I had with the bread. HORRIBLE service from my waitress. I specifically ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers with fries. She brought me 2 cheeseburgers with bacon and cheese on the fries. Simple mistake.. no problem until she tried to chastise ME for her mistake. I was ok until I bit into my burger and it was VERY salty. I told the waitress and she facetious said..."The NEXT time you come, you should request low or no seasoning." I asked her " Why would I do that? The last few times I didn't have to say anything. The food and the service was great, unlike today." Just had an extremely rude and truly awful experience at this location. We were here to celebrate my mother's birthday and we're waiting for over 40 minutes. Once we were paged we were asked to be seated in the reserved spot two. After 15 minutes of waiting we asked when we could expect to be seated and they informed us that they had a party of three down. At that moment we asked if they could let us know if we could be seated or not. All they did was put up their fingers and no communication was given. After an additional 10 minutes of waiting other parties who had just arrived were being seated in front of us. My friend took me to Texas Roadhouse in Joliet for my birthday. My friend ordered Ranch dressing with her salad and they gave her Honey French instead. Our order arrived before we had even finished our salads. When I did cut into my steak it was medium rare instead of well done. Then they brought out a charcoal steak and baked potato which wasn't what was ordered. Then they brought the same plate back to me again with the shrimped just turned on the plate. My husband and I, and occasionally other members of our family, eat here at least 5-6 times per year. We don't eat out much. However, everytime we have been there, we have enjoyed great food, great service and just an overall good experience. The waitresses/waiters all work so hard to accommodate. Perhaps it's because my Gramma absolutely loves this place (she orders the kid's meal with a sweet potato!), but I hold a special place in my heart for the Roadhouse. Overall, the food is pretty good, and I've never had a problem with service, as they're very accommodating. I always order the sirloin kabob, and it's always more than enough! My father orders the 1/2 chicken, and for 9 bucks, is more than enough to fill him up! I agree with Megan, the rolls that they bring you out to munch on are great, but I think it's because they are accompanied by Cinnamon sugar butter. Yes it's a chain and yes it's located in a mall parking lot: My sister and I were laughing at the country song playing over the radio that went something along the lines of "she left me AND stole my pickup truck". Not two minutes after I said all we need is some line dancing the wait staff started kicking up their heels in the aisles. Another time it was a young boy's birthday and they brought him over a horse saddle to sit in while getting everyone in the place to sing. That pretty much sums up the atmosphere here. The waitresses we've had have been really friendly but not in an annoying way. Timing was perfect for everything. I could see her watching to come over when it was apparent we were ready to order and not bugging us as soon as we sat down (and numerous times after) like some places do. Ditto for the timing of our dinners after the salads and the check. The food makes my tummy full and happy. Make that reeeeally full. The meal starts with a tin bucket of peanuts (brings back memories of throwing them on the floor at Ground Round in my childhood) and fluffy rolls that are served with cinnamon butter. There is a decent selection of steaks, chicken, ribs and sandwiches but I haven't gotten past the Road Kill (gotta love that name) which is chopped sirloin smothered in cheese, onions and mushrooms. I love choices and with the dinners you get to pick two sides. I always go with the mashed potatoes which gives me more choices for the topping. Of course I get them topped with cheese and bacon because I need more cheese please. All this for $8.99 plus $5.99 for a decent pretty large margarita. Good deal. read more

Yea, i'm one to actually stick up for them, claiming that chains aren't inherently bad, and moreover can be pretty damn good, if not great on the rare occasion. This place is gimmicky. Real gimmicky, and if the food were to match the contrived atmosphere, we're talking a 4 at worst, prob closer to a 5er. However, the food didn't stand up and my country fried chicken w. white pepper gravy, while looking ok and started off fine, ended up being a textbook case of the law of (quickly) diminishing returns. Pehaps it's the fact they didn't drain the grease off properly that left the bottom of my plate, well, grease laden. Sounds worse than it really was but this is rookie, bush league stuff, how much effort does it take to drain off fried chicken. She had a bbq chicken breast that was about as humdrum, hohum as they come. The highlight: the incredibly soft and toasty warmed buns w. cinnamon butter that came pre-meal. In honor of Veterans Day, they were giving veterans (and active duty) a free meal. I thought this was a good opportunity to final try Texas Roadhouse. At first I was a apprehensive to get a free meal just because I am a veteran, but then I drove into the parking lot and it was packed. Seemed like I wasn't the only one (sigh of relief) with the idea. I have to say, from the moment I walked in, I was impressed. Since there was a wait, I asked if I could sit at the bar. The hostess cheerfully responded yes. I sat at the bar and Jenna, the bartender, asked what I would like to drink. Jenna's service and attitude both caught me a little off guard. I've been to this same restaurant in Orlando, but I have to say the service here was so much better (even better than some of the fancier steakhouses I've been to). We normally eat here a few times a month last night we decided to order take out. I called in our order and was told it was curbside and will be ready in 1 hour and 45 minutes which I understood due to the craziness going on in the worked with the virus We picked up our food cake home which is 1 Mike away. We both ordered a filet with baked potato and a salad. Now for the disappointing part our steaks were cold literally to touch, the baked potato was so overcooked that I couldn't put a knife through it and my salad was warm yep that's right warm and the ranch dressing in the cup was warm too like it has been sitting out all day. The bitter and sour cream I asked for for the potatoes nope not in there and it came with 4 buns hard to mention with 1 cinnamon butter to share for 2 people. Not every happy and all that for 51.00 oh and when you order it forces you to tip for the link on your credit card which should be my chose not theirs which I would of anyways.
