I don't know what it is but I just didn't like this place. It wouldn't be fair to give this place 1 or 2 stars because the food and service wasn't horrible, but I simply didn't like it. First off I was expecting a big, spacy, southern-type bar with nice TV's. To my disapointment the bar was very small and I wouldn't want to sit there anyway. I guess I kind of fall in to the middle of the reviews I have read below. We were here last night for my girlfriend's Mom's birthday, there were five of us and we had called ahead for seating. My girlfriend and I arrived slightly before the rest of our party. The hostesses gave us a buzzer and said let us know when they arrive. I noticed instantly the decor certainly does give you that feel of the South, but the entrance way is extremely small and gets jammed. There are some seating areas to the right when you arrive, but for a weekend, not nearly enough and it gets overwhelming in that area. It was about five minutes later, sure enough, Hostess sat us right down. We sat for a just few minutes and our server (Steph) was over. She very polite, knowledgeable and took our appetizer and drink orders. We ordered the barbecue boneless wings, I have had better. Frankly, they were slightly cold, on the small side and a tad bland, they were just OK. Of course we had buckets of bread, honestly, I could go here just for the bread, that gets an A. We got our main courses in a very timely manner, which for a Friday night at 6:30 is pretty good. Anyway, I had the chicken and ribs with mashed. The mashed potatoes were pretty sad, cold and little taste. The chicken was cooked nicely but also seemed bland, the sauce just seemed average, almost like it was an after thought. My ribs were OK. Frankly, I think they were a bit overcooked but they were OK. My girlfriend ordered the roadkill (just a burger with cheese but no roll) and based on the presentation, I thought it was road kill. However, she said it was tasty, so I take her word on it. Her Brother ordered country fried chicken, it looked pretty pathetic in my opinion, looked very dry and he didn't finish it, but took it home, so either he has no food at home or it had to be better than it actually looked. The other two members of our party didn't mention anything about their food, so take that for what's it worth. Fantastic, yes truly fantastic, family restaurant! We live in Wellesley and drive to this restaurant every few weeks. The steaks are very good, the ribs are yummy and the sides are tasty. They work very hard to make sure you're enjoying your meal. Tonight, my filet wasn't cooked right and the manager personally took it back to the kitchen and then comp'd me the meal. Way above and beyond! I don't think we've ever been disappinted by a dinner here, which is much more than I can say for Outback in Natick. Food was OK but not that interesting. The peanuts, which is supposed to be a signature aspect of the experience, were stale. I asked for the earlybird pricing because we were seated before 6:00 PM. It's hard for me to rate chain restaurants as above and beyond unless they do something extreme to set themselves a part. Overall it was a good evening out for a random date night. Upon arrival the place seemed packed to us [although our waiter informed us otherwise]. Either way, we were seated rather quickly. Once we sat down it was time for one of the choreographed dances, which I will not say anything bad about, as its part of the experience... what I will say though, is it was interesting that although we had just been seated, our waiter was expected to be a part of this dance routine before ever over coming to greet us... so we felt like we were waiting quite a bit... When our waiter did come over, he clearly had had a long night and proceeded to somewhat, not necessarily complain, but be a little too honest on his thoughts of the dancing and how long he was going to have to be there that evening. I know this is a chain restaurant so my expectation is that the food, service, atmosphere etc. will be replicated no matter what location I go to. Texas Roadhouse has a reputation and standard that needs to be upheld wherever they are located. Yet this didn't seem to be the case during my early evening visit today with my daughter and best friend. When we entered the Walpole location there were staff (young women) standing at the hostess station but not a single person stopped to greet us. We were simply asked how many were in our party. Then we were taken to a booth in a section of the restaurant that was darker than the rest of the establishment. The only other diners was a large family who were focused on their food. As I went to enter the booth I noticed crumbs and debris were on the bench. I called the waitress over to clean it. She got a paper towel after consulting with a colleague, never made an attempt to clean it and asked if we wanted to change our seats. We agreed, moving to a more populated section that was better lighted. Our waitress was pleasant but, did not bus the table properly. We had eaten multiple baskets of rolls (3 to be exact), which were delicious but not as hot as I remembered. The remnants from our ribs and fries appetizer was also on the table. Another finger licking dish that the three of us shared. As more plates arrived my friend had to tell the waitress to remove the dirty dishes to make room. The pulled pork, country fried chicken and 10 ounce sirloin were plentiful and well seasoned. The highlight of the meal was the cheesecake with strawberries which the three of us shared. So as a type 1 diabetic I will never go back to Texas Roadhouse after last night! Lucky I made it home. Let me start by says my Cody the waiter was fabulous, and none of this was his fault! First waited 50 minutes so we were starving it was already almost 8 pm. I ordered a 10 ounce ribeye medium it came out completely raw so even though I had already taken insulin and was starving, I had to send it back! I had cut it all apart to see if there was one section I could attempt to eat but no! Came back ten minutes later they recooked same piece minus parts cut off they threw away now a shriveled up 2 ounce piece of over cooked meat! Said something they said they would make me a new one I said no now being 9 pm I wasn't hungry anymore! Oh and they gave me back my already bitten fries now soggy ewwwww!! Waiter at least brought over more bread after saying I was a diabetic and already took insulin! This place was disgusting! I ordered a hamburger with no onions. The waitress asked me twice about the onions. When I got my burger it was covered in onions. Whatever mistakes happen. She took it back and brought the burger with no onions. The burger was all burnt crumbles and had a long piece of hair in it! My husband had the ribs and they were gross. They took the burger off the bill and apologized. It was appreciated but now my husband has been sick to his stomach all day! Tried it for the 1st time last night and wasn't that impressed. The wait was reasonable and the service was good, if a bit over scripted (all their dishes are "famous" according to our server). I found the line-dancing waitresses to be demeaning (and from their facial expressions, so did a few of them) but more importantly, detrimental to the level of food service. You can't dance and serve tables at the same time. My 1/2 rack of ribs was disappointing. Very dry. I think they "fall off the bone" from sheer exhaustion. The steaks, however, looked very good going by my table and their steak prices are quite reasonable. I would go back to see how they taste except for one problem. The noise level inside this place was like emptying a tray of silverware into a jet engine at takeoff. Table conversation for our party of 6 was just plain impossible. Thus, if I do go back, it will be alone, at the bar with my earbuds in place, to try a rib-eye, bone-in. YMMV. read more

The nice thing about Texas Roadhouse is that you get what you hope for in a family style restaurant, peanut shells on the floor, elevated booths, pick your steak kind of place. I first enjoyed their best steak (porterhouse for me) in Cranston, RI. On my first trip to Salt Lake City, Utah I asked a friend where to go for a real good western steak. He took me to the Texas Roadhouse. Again, excellent. A new one just opened in Walpole, MA. We had a great night. A tad noisy. But, fun and very tasty. I love great steaks. I have paid top prices at Morton's in Boston as well as The Capital Grille. They were no better at thrice the price. Texas Roadhouse clearly beat the Capital Grille. I quit going there after the 2nd mediocre steak. Take your family and/or friends. Pay $$ out of $$$$ for the meal and get at least a $$$$ steak. You get nice portions, too. Enjoy!! read more

Just never, ever again! This place used to be good, now you couldn't pay me to go here. The steaks and shrimp were ok, nothing great. My daughter's chicken was unseasoned and bland, smothered with grocery store bbq sauce. It was absolutely dead at noon on a Sunday, yet took the waitress 10 minutes to greet us, then another 10 minutes for drinks. I got a margarita, minus the extra tequila shot and drank it over a period of 25 minutes. When the waitress(Emily) finally came to check on us, I ordered a bottle of beer. It took way too long to just get seated i went there the other night (my first time there) with a few others it took 40 minutes to get seated, it took 20 minutes just to get our drinks, it took 30 minutes to get all of our food. The main reason it took so long is because, despite the place was competely full all of the waiting staff were dancing instead of doing there job! I discovered this place mid 2011after visiting the nearby Aplebees and getting such horrible service that my girlfriend and I ended up walking out before the entrees arrived. Texas treated us well on that first encounter and has continued to do so the 10 to 15 or so times we have gone there since then. There is definitely something that Texas Roadhouse does for its staff that should be emulated by other big restaurant chains. Everyone seems to genuinely love their job.
