This is our local Thai place. Super close to UC-Fulerton and anytime we have been in, there are Thai folks eatings as well- a good sign for any restaurant. I mostly get take-out for the house, be do occasionally dine-in. The staff are all smiles, whether you are eating in or getting it to go. We have never had a bad interaction or experience. The bathroom, kitchen, and dining area is always clean - it is nice that you can peer into the kitchen. Parking can be hectic, but not impossible. read more

The food is kind of bland. The portions are small. The rice tasted watery. The sweet and sour chicken they had a little bit of sauce. Every time we ask for more sweet and sour sauce it was different we got four different types of sauce. The peanuts it tastes sauce was good on the side salad. The t was okay. I like the ice water with lemon or they gave us lime. But other than that not sure I'll come back. Nice ambiance friendly staff it was clean. But the foods I give it a C. read more

It was my first time but not my last! The chicken soup with lemongrass is delicious. They also give you a scale of 1-5 hotness for each meal. We called for delivery and they were kind and patient, seeing it was my first time ordering. When I got there the restaurant was clean and had families dining in as well. It's a wonderful spot to meet up for dinner or lunch and it's not loud, but rather quiet. I'm excited to go back! read more

We were greeted & seated as soon as we walked in. Staff is efficient, fast, & very friendly. It's been a while since we've come in, so I asked for recommendations. Our waitress was very patient & helpful; she asked a few questions to see what we like before she offered suggestions. We started with the appetizer plate: fried shrimp, fried won tons, egg rolls & vegetable tempura - this is all fried & comes with a small container of sweet & sour sauce. We also ordered the chili sauce & mint leaves with chicken (looks so simple yet packs a tasty punch), pad see-ew with beef (they leave their greens a little crisp/ not soggy or overcooked), & combination seafood (it was alright, a little overcooked). Ate all these items with streamed white rice (vs fried rice) in order to really taste the sauces. The place is a nice lil mom & pop shop, which I love. Homey & down to earth, the decor looks like something you'd see in one of their homes. read more

Went here for lunch with hubby for first time. Nice ambiance. Good service. Food was just okay. Price points on the higher side for the small portions. Wonton Soup was bland but filling. Lunch special portions are VERY small. I ate everything on my plate (small serving of chicken curry, rice, one eggroll and one wonton) and was still hungry. There were like 5 super thin slices of chicken in the curry which was very disappointing . Not sure if we'll be back. I've had some pretty amazing Thai food and this was mediocre at best. read more

I ordered beef pad thai, and it was ready in like 5 minutes, even though the employee said it might take 10-15. The beef costs $3 extra. The food was stayed so HOT; I had to let it cool down for some time or else I would have burnt my tongue. She didn't ask how spicy I wanted it, but it was fine. Sometimes, I ask to remove the veggies, but the ones they have look pretty fresh. The whole thing is very yummy, and the portion is decent. The inside does have a cozy-like atmosphere. Customer service was great because I was attended to immediately, and she brought me my order quickly. I would suggest ordering directly from their site instead of through Yelp/Grubhub because it's a little cheaper and convenient. Horrible service great food! We went with 4 kids two adults and they charge us $18 dollars tip we told them we were only paying $10 tip they got mad we laid left the $10 tip next time we went we were seating there for 10 min they didn't want to serve us until I call them server bane annie came and she was making a face at us with a rude character. We are a simple family that's hard for us to go eat and live $20 tip is very difficult with 4 kids. read more

pad thai was one of the best i've tried!!! just the right blend of sweetness & tang. we also got their yellow curry, which was still tasty, however i prefer more of a thicker consistency. it was a bit more watery in my opinion. mango sticky rice was a decent portion & service was very nice and checked in. plenty of parking because it's in a plaza & overall a chill place to grab foods! read more

FOOD WAS TERRIBLE !! Ordered PadSeeEw and the beef was burnt and dripping with excess cooking oil. Waitress didn't seemed to care when I showed burnt beef.... If you're in the mood for some comforting Thai food, this spot has you covered. The Pad Thai was delicious and I highly recommend it. It had the right blend of sweetness and tanginess. The fried rice was alright, nothing too special. The Mango Sticky Rice was pretty good too. The atmosphere is laid-back, with plenty of seating and a friendly staff that's quick to help. I was kinda grossed out when I saw a bug in my water and how we have to pay for rice when anyone in your party orders curry. It is located in a plaza, so parking is easy. It is a solid tasting place. Food: Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) Spicy Level 7 / Pad Thai If you like spicy, like noodles, and want to challenge yourself, try the Pad Kee Mow at a spiciness level of seven. It is a point where it is super spicy, but super flavorful. You will want to just keep eating and eating! The Pad Thai is actually one of the better ones I've had. You get all the flavors that you look for in a Pad Thai, with the portion sizes being very generous. Restaurant: Inside there is are many tables that can accommodate various sized parties. Service was quick and efficient though it was busy inside. Outside, there is plenty of parking, but it can get super packed at times with various restaurants and shops in the same area. Notes: Prices are on par with OC based Thai restaurants, and the food is not shabby. If I did not want to make the drive down to Hanuman, I would seriously consider stopping by here. read more

I'm so disappointed with our visit to Thai Basil today. It's evident that ownership has changed. Some of the food tasted differently and the presentation of it was also different. The crying tiger dinner was the most disappointing as the beef was no longer cut into juicy strips. Today, it was thinly sliced and dry. The spicy fried rice didn't taste the same. Also, I wasn't impressed with the young lady working there at the time. She was so rude and definitely didn't understand how to be friendly. The two young men were friendly and were attentive. I've been coming to this restaurant for about 20 years and I believe that this will be the last time. Time to look for another Thai food place. read more

Ordered takeout from here, I got the mango sticky rice! I called ahead and it was super quick. Service was great on the phone. Came in about 5 minutes later, paid and picked up my food. Very spacious restaurant and the food smelled delicious. This was my first time trying sticky rice, and let's just say I will be a frequent customer now! I've only given a 1 star review a couple of times on yelp, this is one of those - I used to frequent the spot a decade ago and I believe it was family owned back then, consistently good in terms of both quality and service. Well, that has changed. "Crispy" chicken, which is a half bird coated in carbs then wok fried crisp with oil : My order came out absolutely nuked dry, and I mean a step before becoming ash dry. Extremely disappointed that I was asked if I have proof of that my pet is a service animal. I explained my pet has a vest on. Which was replied to "have you been here before?" and "do you have proof?" Then when I mentioned I was ready to order the server just walked away into the kitchen yelling in another language (I'm sure probably about my pet). Then a different server came and took my order and I asked if there was a problem because if service pets are welcome I would take my business elsewhere. This review is based on delivery only, and let me just say--wow. I ordered the tofu Pad Thai and it was super delicious. The portion size was generous--I couldn't even finish it, which means leftovers for the win! If I could rate less I would. There was bugs everywhere landing in our food and drinks. When they brought the to go plate for the ONE plate that a bug didn't touch the to go plate was used and dirty ! I can't make this up. It was 85$ they said they couldn't discount anything they took one drink off. When I went to at least finish my beer guess what, another bug. I froze my card waiting for them to get a hold of the manager which they never did so I left out of frustration. Do not eat here if you like eating in a clean environment, and it gives off a clean vibe but it's just not. Also, the customer service was very unaccommodating to our needs just on the phones in the kitchen. No wonder it's empty. read more

Established in 2002.

Thai Basil began with Edith preparing traditional Thai meals for her husband Pete. They decided to start a restaurant with made from scratch meals that are only prepared when ordered. Pete and Edith have been in business for over nearly 20 years and have received awards for their delicious meals and great service. Edith loves to share her passion for cooking with others and her greatest satisfaction is seeing customers enjoy her food.

Never Never Never Going back there... Bad waitress service and not good food. Ordered Green curry and Thai Basil chicken (there was not one basil leaf in my dish). I usually order from across the street but they were closed. Thought I would give Thai Basil a try. When I ordered they told me 20 min. I got there after 30 min, - no one greeted me, infact when I tried to get the waitress attention, she snapped and said hold on. Then she tells me i have to wait another 10 min and when I asked why she got upset and said the lady inside would help me out and walked away. Finally, someone from inside came out and dropped the bag of food on the counter and went back in. Then the same rude waitress came back charged me and said here you go... no "sorry for the wait" or Thank you." I usually don't give bad reviews, but I found a small piece of wire / plastic in the Thai Basil chicken (i am not sure what it was but definitely not edible.) read more

Have had hit and misses here for the past few years. From the inconsistent service, wrong orders, food quality inconsistency. Today, was absolutely disappointed with Thai Basil on their ability to follow safety guidelines during this pandemic. Previous visits, when they had had staff not wearing gloves when handling the to go service and no disinfect products were available for customers when the county had stricter guidelines back in March / April. Today, the front desk staff wear not wearing masks when we picked up our food. Masks requirement for businesses has been re-enforced by the state and passed onto the county in the past 2 weeks. Have not seen any employees at any OC business not wearing masks when assisting customers, from various restaurants to markets. Very concerning and disappointed with Thai Basil. If you can't follow safety guidelines, I can't fathom the cleanliness of the kitchen. Not coming back. read more

I recently had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. When I brought up an issue with the food to the server, instead of acknowledging it or making any attempt to understand the problem, they immediately asked if I already told someone else when the food was out. There was no effort to investigate what might have been wrong or to communicate with me respectfully. Later, a staff member came to the table, took the dish away without saying anything like "Let me check on this," and returned to tell us that there was nothing wrong with it. The entire interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional, leaving me with the impression that customer concerns are not taken seriously here. This place is really good. I always get Pad See Ew but recently I tried the Spicy Noodle Pad Kee Mao, and was pleasantly surprised. They give you a rating from 1-10 as most Thai restaurants do. Waaaay better than Thai Specialty in Brea. Super good Tom Kah Gai soup ( chicken,coconut milk, mushrooms, etc) which you can also get in a spicy form. One problem I have is that they charge extra for sides of white sticky rice. It should automatically come with the meal but they ask you when you place your order if you want to add it or not. Another, the portions are small for the price. I can finish the meal without rice and still have room for another one. They do provide huge portions of the soup for a decent price though. Close to CSUF which is always a plus and service is pretty good. read more

Happened to be in Fullerton this evening and found this restaurant near by. We ordered a Squid Salad and the 'Pohe Taak'. The menu stated fish, squid muscle scallop and mushroom..... when I got the soup it looked nice and hot and since it was covered with water (broth), I couldn't tell what was underneath. As I started to serve myself, I discovered, it only had a couple of muscles, one scallop and a few pieces of fish and plenty of mushrooms. This soup should be called, "mushroom soup with fish". Food portions are half of what they were before changing owners. Wanton soup only had two shrimp in the large order. 4 people used to be able to split the order and get 2 shrimp each. Now only 2 people each get 1 shrimp. The fried tofu was drenched in oil and caused some serious gastrointestinal distress. It was just plain BAD! Everyone in our party left disappointed and hungry. Best Thai food in Fullerton. I had been looking for a good Thai place FOREVER and finally found one! Beef Pad-See-Ew is my absolute favorite. The standard Pad Thai is terrific as well. Good for "first timers" if they want to try out a solid Thai dish to see if they like it. There also very good with phone orders. I never eat inside so I can't comment on the service, but they are great with pickup orders. I've been doing phone orders once a week and the food is ready right when I get there, and tastes fantastic. I will probably make this my weekly Thai place! read more

I've come here many times and would typically rate Thai Basil a solid 4/5, but our experience today fell a bit short. The eggrolls, tom kha gai soup, and thai ice tea were fire as usual. However, the pad thai and pad see ew were dry and chewy, and the pineapple fried rice didn't meet its usual standard. One thing I've noticed over time is that the spice level here can be inconsistent. We usually ask for a level 4, which is perfect for us, but this time none of the dishes had much spice at all. It's by far one of my favorite Thai places to go to and the portions are huge for a great price. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and the beef ribs plate. I believe it was around $16 and $17 respectively. The BBQ chicken was fine, but they didn't give as much as the other locations. The beef ribs were terrible. 3 bones and barely any meat on them. They were also quite dry. Like if I'm eating beef jerky off the bone. Don't get the beef ribs! The chicken plate was fine, but if you can, visit the other locations mentioned. You're welcome.

They didn't bring the plate out with hoisin sauce like they sometimes do, so I recommend asking for some if you order this Mix it with some chili oil too! Rating: 8/10 The service was wonderful as well. Everyone was nice and attentive.

Yes, we were totally fine to wait our ramens to take longer time because of the group's orders. We asked a pepper for ramens when they were served. The male server told us, "Please serve it as many as you want." What? Most of Ramen shops have condiments on tables. Especially if owners are Japaneses, not only salts & pepers, but also garlics, sesames, etc. Do you think we consume a half bottle of black pepers? It is just for adding on a scent of black peppers to increase appetit? (I can tell the owner is Korean per menu.) Ramen presentation was good, but if I can tell, soup was not hot enough and noodles were egg noodles that are for Shoyu or Miso Ramens. Tonkotsu Ramen should be served by thin noodles. Upon checking out. We were presented a bill saying $61.00!! 2 ramens only cost $61? They added on a soda and an appetizer and ramen said Spicy ramen! It was not peak time but it seemed like he presented wrong check to us. Make sure you pay your bill!
