This is our local Thai place. Super close to UC-Fulerton and anytime we have been in, there are Thai folks eatings as well- a good sign for any restaurant. I mostly get take-out for the house, be do occasionally dine-in. The staff are all smiles, whether you are eating in or getting it to go. We have never had a bad interaction or experience. The bathroom, kitchen, and dining area is always clean - it is nice that you can peer into the kitchen. Parking can be hectic, but not impossible. read more

Sooooooo good! Love me some Thai food! I have been craving it for a while now. Excited to see that Thai Basil is on Door dash for delivery: I ordered from Thai Basil for lunch today. And it was delicious!!! The mango sticky rice is one of my favorite Thai food desserts. It's just sweet and yummy. It was fresh and delicious. 10/10 The sweet and sour tofu was bomb! Packed with tons of flavor, you really get the sweet and sour taste. The tofu was fried well and it all came together and was tasty!! 10/10 Chow mein with tofu for the protein was alright. This was the disappointing dish. Barely any tofu at all. Way too much cabbage. And not enough noodles. Sad day. 7/10 read more

Horrible service great food! We went with 4 kids two adults and they charge us $18 dollars tip we told them we were only paying $10 tip they got mad we laid left the $10 tip next time we went we were seating there for 10 min they didn't want to serve us until I call them server bane annie came and she was making a face at us with a rude character. We are a simple family that's hard for us to go eat and live $20 tip is very difficult with 4 kids. read more

We were greeted & seated as soon as we walked in. Staff is efficient, fast, & very friendly. It's been a while since we've come in, so I asked for recommendations. Our waitress was very patient & helpful; she asked a few questions to see what we like before she offered suggestions. We started with the appetizer plate: fried shrimp, fried won tons, egg rolls & vegetable tempura - this is all fried & comes with a small container of sweet & sour sauce. We also ordered the chili sauce & mint leaves with chicken (looks so simple yet packs a tasty punch), pad see-ew with beef (they leave their greens a little crisp/ not soggy or overcooked), & combination seafood (it was alright, a little overcooked). Ate all these items with streamed white rice (vs fried rice) in order to really taste the sauces. The place is a nice lil mom & pop shop, which I love. Homey & down to earth, the decor looks like something you'd see in one of their homes. read more

It was my first time but not my last! The chicken soup with lemongrass is delicious. They also give you a scale of 1-5 hotness for each meal. We called for delivery and they were kind and patient, seeing it was my first time ordering. When I got there the restaurant was clean and had families dining in as well. It's a wonderful spot to meet up for dinner or lunch and it's not loud, but rather quiet. I'm excited to go back! read more

FOOD WAS TERRIBLE !! Ordered PadSeeEw and the beef was burnt and dripping with excess cooking oil. Waitress didn't seemed to care when I showed burnt beef.... Obviously this place is not what it used to be....food quality and service have gone down hill. Absolutely my last visit. They lost longtime regular customer. read more

pad thai was one of the best i've tried!!! just the right blend of sweetness & tang. we also got their yellow curry, which was still tasty, however i prefer more of a thicker consistency. it was a bit more watery in my opinion. mango sticky rice was a decent portion & service was very nice and checked in. plenty of parking because it's in a plaza & overall a chill place to grab foods! read more

I ordered beef pad thai, and it was ready in like 5 minutes, even though the employee said it might take 10-15. The beef costs $3 extra. The food was stayed so HOT; I had to let it cool down for some time or else I would have burnt my tongue. She didn't ask how spicy I wanted it, but it was fine. Sometimes, I ask to remove the veggies, but the ones they have look pretty fresh. The whole thing is very yummy, and the portion is decent. The inside does have a cozy-like atmosphere. Customer service was great because I was attended to immediately, and she brought me my order quickly. I would suggest ordering directly from their site instead of through Yelp/Grubhub because it's a little cheaper and convenient. If you're in the mood for some comforting Thai food, this spot has you covered. The Pad Thai was delicious and I highly recommend it. It had the right blend of sweetness and tanginess. The fried rice was alright, nothing too special. The Mango Sticky Rice was pretty good too. The atmosphere is laid-back, with plenty of seating and a friendly staff that's quick to help. I was kinda grossed out when I saw a bug in my water and how we have to pay for rice when anyone in your party orders curry. It is located in a plaza, so parking is easy. It is a solid tasting place. I'm so disappointed with our visit to Thai Basil today. It's evident that ownership has changed. Some of the food tasted differently and the presentation of it was also different. The crying tiger dinner was the most disappointing as the beef was no longer cut into juicy strips. Today, it was thinly sliced and dry. The spicy fried rice didn't taste the same. Also, I wasn't impressed with the young lady working there at the time. She was so rude and definitely didn't understand how to be friendly. The two young men were friendly and were attentive. I've been coming to this restaurant for about 20 years and I believe that this will be the last time. Time to look for another Thai food place. read more

Ordered takeout from here, I got the mango sticky rice! I called ahead and it was super quick. Service was great on the phone. Came in about 5 minutes later, paid and picked up my food. Very spacious restaurant and the food smelled delicious. This was my first time trying sticky rice, and let's just say I will be a frequent customer now! If I could rate less I would. There was bugs everywhere landing in our food and drinks. When they brought the to go plate for the ONE plate that a bug didn't touch the to go plate was used and dirty ! I can't make this up. It was 85$ they said they couldn't discount anything they took one drink off. When I went to at least finish my beer guess what, another bug. I froze my card waiting for them to get a hold of the manager which they never did so I left out of frustration. Do not eat here if you like eating in a clean environment, and it gives off a clean vibe but it's just not. Also, the customer service was very unaccommodating to our needs just on the phones in the kitchen. No wonder it's empty. read more

Food: Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) Spicy Level 7 / Pad Thai If you like spicy, like noodles, and want to challenge yourself, try the Pad Kee Mow at a spiciness level of seven. It is a point where it is super spicy, but super flavorful. You will want to just keep eating and eating! The Pad Thai is actually one of the better ones I've had. You get all the flavors that you look for in a Pad Thai, with the portion sizes being very generous. Restaurant: Inside there is are many tables that can accommodate various sized parties. Service was quick and efficient though it was busy inside. Outside, there is plenty of parking, but it can get super packed at times with various restaurants and shops in the same area. Notes: Prices are on par with OC based Thai restaurants, and the food is not shabby. If I did not want to make the drive down to Hanuman, I would seriously consider stopping by here. read more

Definitely not what it once was. Noodle dishes are still decent But the yellow curry has a soapy, almost bilious aftertaste now. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, because it was always before .. but after two chances I can confirm, yellow curry is terrible here now. . read more

Although it's not authentic.... The flavors are great. I'm sure they fine tuned their dishes to satisfy the local customer base. But, my biggest pet peeve though is the fact they're charging $4 for a small scoop of rice which should come free with the entree. It's like selling the insides of a sandwich without the bread. This review is based on delivery only, and let me just say--wow. I ordered the tofu Pad Thai and it was super delicious. The portion size was generous--I couldn't even finish it, which means leftovers for the win! I went with level 7 spice and it was just right--any spicier and I probably would've tapped out at level 8. Can't wait to order again! read more

Extremely disappointed that I was asked if I have proof of that my pet is a service animal. I explained my pet has a vest on. Which was replied to "have you been here before?" and "do you have proof?" Then when I mentioned I was ready to order the server just walked away into the kitchen yelling in another language (I'm sure probably about my pet). Then a different server came and took my order and I asked if there was a problem because if service pets are welcome I would take my business elsewhere. I've only given a 1 star review a couple of times on yelp, this is one of those - I used to frequent the spot a decade ago and I believe it was family owned back then, consistently good in terms of both quality and service. Well, that has changed. "Crispy" chicken, which is a half bird coated in carbs then wok fried crisp with oil : My order came out absolutely nuked dry, and I mean a step before becoming ash dry. Ive given this place 3 different chances to make food that actually tastes good. The first time I thought was my mistake. I ordered larb, but I ordered chicken instead of pork so I thought I just didn't like the chicken, then I tried the egg drop soup, nope, tasted like raw eggs. Tonight I wanted glass noodles... mistake... they have no flavor, & the texture just isn't right. Sorry but this place gets a 2 thumbs down from me. read more

The pad thai was decent. The noodle was slightly overcooked and the sauce was slightly bland. Very typical pad thai however the waiters kept rushing me and telling me to get out the way. They were not helpful at all when i asked for recommendations. Instead appeared very annoyed. I will not be returning. read more

Established in 2002.

Thai Basil began with Edith preparing traditional Thai meals for her husband Pete. They decided to start a restaurant with made from scratch meals that are only prepared when ordered. Pete and Edith have been in business for over nearly 20 years and have received awards for their delicious meals and great service. Edith loves to share her passion for cooking with others and her greatest satisfaction is seeing customers enjoy her food.

Unlike Filipino pickled version, there's more like a salad. Dressing is perfectly balance and not too tart. I highly recommend it! Crispy Pork Belly is a great appetizer. It pairs well with the seafood sauce and cucumber salad that comes with it. Chicken satay is also tasty, really like the peanut sauce. The pad thai noodle with chicken is solid as well as Pad Wood Sen (glass noodles). I love the wide noodles they use on Pad See Ew, it helps absorb a lot of savory flavors from garlic and soy sauce. Salmon Panang is delightful and comforting; rich, creamy, slightly spicy and packed with flavor. It's served with a side of white rice. Also, Red Curry Beef is terrific, curry flavor is on point and perfect. Their special Garden Trout is very good. It's basically fried fish topped with mango herb salad which everyone loves. I thought spicy catfish was ok, bit spicy for my palette. The house fried rice and stir fried seasonal vegetables are good accompaniment to your meal. Mango Sticky Rice is so divine and perfect way to cap off your meal. Mangos are always ripe and sweet, even better with ice cream. Don't skip on this! However, they also have patio seating along the street, which adds more space and gives the restaurant a nice casual vibe. The food was delicious. This Thai spot in Tustin, Manaao Thai Comfort Food, had been on my foodie list for a while ever…read moresince it opened in 2023. Not long after opening, it was featured by the LA Times / Daily Pilot, and then quickly blew up on TikTok and IG foodie circles across OC. Dinner starts at 4:30 PM, and we arrived around 4:10. Even then, people were already waiting in their cars. We walked around the plaza for a bit, but when we came back at 4:28, a line had already formed outside. They use a Yelp waitlist kiosk at the entrance, and we were already the third party in line. The restaurant has around 25+ tables, and within minutes of opening, the place filled up fast. By the time our first dish arrived, the line outside was packed. Definitely glad we came early, this place gets busy FAST. We ordered: 1. Khao Soi Noodle $28 One of the LA Times' "Best Dishes of 2023," and honestly the standout of the night. The rich yellow curry broth with coconut milk had a nice spicy kick without being overly salty. It came with crispy noodles on top, softer noodles underneath, plus crispy soft-shell crab that added great texture. The lime and diced onions on the side helped brighten everything up too. Very flavorful and worth trying, although $28 still feels a little pricey. 2. Gaeng Som (Thai Sour Curry Fish Soup) $28 A mildly sour and spicy curry fish soup with crispy fish, green papaya, daikon, carrots, and long beans. The flavor actually reminded me a bit of Korean spicy fish stew, but with stronger sourness and herbal notes. Great with rice, though again, the price feels high for the portion. 3. Thai Hainan Chicken Rice $18 This was probably the weakest dish we ordered. The chicken was very soft but lacked flavor, and the soup was pretty bland. Honestly, I prefer the Vietnamese-style chicken rice in Little Saigon more. The rice itself paired nicely with the stronger curry dishes though. 4. Thai Milk Tea $6 Less sweet than most Thai restaurants, which I really appreciated. Much more balanced and not overly sugary. Overall, Manaao feels more authentic and regional compared to many Americanized Thai restaurants in OC. The menu goes beyond the usual Pad Thai staples, and the flavors definitely have more depth. That said, prices are on the higher side, and portions aren't huge. Three dishes can easily run over $70. Still, I can see why this place became so popular. The owner apparently used to work as a web developer before starting to cook hometown Thai dishes during the pandemic, eventually opening Manaao with his wife to focus on authentic Thai comfort food. They're already expanding to Irvine Spectrum near Din Tai Fung. Out of everything we tried, the Khao Soi was definitely the must-order dish for me. Would I wait an hour for it though?
