Very cute little place. Kind of small so it's not great for big groups. The employees were very kind. They have quite a few options. They have a lunch and dinner menu so there are some different options . I forget what the name of the dish is I ordered, but it was ginger based. There are dishes with a specific spice level, but you can increase the spice as you like 1-4. Apparently 4 is insanely spicy. We got a warning from the chef so I ordered level 2 and my husband level 3. The meal was well cooked. I could taste the freshness of the veggies. The white rice was plain. I know that's normal, but I prefer at least a little seasoning. The one thing I didn't really like was they had canned coke and not fountain. It's not a HUGE deal, but I thought it was expensive to charge $2.50 per can.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now and finally I stopped in on my way by for a to go order. It is furnished nicely and decorated well so it is inviting for a place to sit down and have a meal. The lady that greeted me was very friendly and gave me a menu to browse. I opted for the pad thai with chicken as it is my go-to for thai places for a good comparison. I was a bit surprised by the prices as they seemed a bit high. I waited maybe 7-10 minutes and a nice worker handed me my bag and told me to enjoy my dinner. I was very satisfied with all of the interactions with the workers. My mouth was watering all the way home as I smelled my precious dinner that was riding in the passenger seat. After getting home, I finally was able to head to the table and open up the container. It looks just as pad thai should be and they include some sprouts too to mix in with it. The pad thai flavor is great but there was absolutely no spice at all. Normally, there would be some heat accompanied by the flavor but it was just absent. Perhaps, I need to request that for next time so if you are expecting some heat make sure you ask about it first. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the food and I will be back when my thai craving crops up again. It is just a bit on the expensive side.

Best Thai food in west lafayette! They have another restaurant called Basil Thai on Purdue's campus with a similar menu, but Thai essence has a larger variety, and in my opinion better quality. I always get the pad see ew with chicken. Sometimes I've gotten their red curry or pad Thai which I think both are delicious. Pad see ew is definitely a favorite of mine. Always tastes fresh and delicious. I usually add hot sauce to mine just because I like more spice. You can tell them to make it spicier but I kind of like to be in control of my own spice level. I always like to stop by when I'm visiting campus. I still think their dishes are really good and authentic!

    Pineapple fried rice with chicken

I've tried the drunken noodles here and I really was not a fan. It felt like the only seasoning was pepper and that too not enough. I came back recently though, and tried the pineapple fried rice with beef as my protein and it was so redeeming. I enjoyed it so much. There's some coconut flakes and the pineapple - both flavors I love but it was still savory and had plenty of meat and veggies that were very tasty. I would completely recommend this dish! The service and seating were also fine as a larger group.

From the ceiling, to the bar, to the plants, everything had a Valentine's Day theme and it was so fun. Our rice was even shaped into a heart! There is a big, shared parking lot behind the strip of businesses with plenty of parking and we walked in through the back. We were seated immediately by the hostess and had some tasty miso soup brought out along with waters. Two of us also ordered Prosecco and we could hear them opening the bottle up at the bar, so it was fresh and bubbly. They also allowed one of my friends to substitute silver noodles (her fave) into 3 of the different lunch special options for a slight up charge. I ordered the mussaman curry with chicken and it was perfect on such a cold afternoon. The only downside to our lunch was that I asked for medium-hot and didn't taste any spice. The silver noodle dish my friend ordered was really good, but a lot of food, so we ended up getting to-go boxes for the rest of our lunch and they were just as good for lunch the next day. Our other friend ordered the cashew nut and ate most of that, minus some rice, which she put in my to-go box for my lunch the next day. The lunch special is such a good deal- it comes with soup, salad, spring roll, and your choice of entree for one affordable price. I can't wait to come back and try something new!

I ordered online for carry out. I was surprised to see the restaurant interior, elegant and attractively decorated. Not what I had expected from a strip mall restaurant! I had ordered drunken noodles with fried tofu, and also spring rolls. The spring rolls were crispy and very good. Drunken noodles were excellent! I quickly understood why they were mentioned in so many reviews. This is a Thai restaurant I will definitely return to, and will plan to dine in next time.

My wife was craving papaya salad so we decided on Thai Select to give it a chance again. Wow, what a great call. First, the place is very wide open with comfortable seating, clean and has excellent decorations. We were greeted very nicely and got our seats right away. I will say that the menu is way bigger than online so be prepared to see some happy surprises. As per mentioned we did order a papaya salad. It was very refreshing with a nice salty-sour taste to it. Also as part of the appetizers we ordered the fried calamari and Thai dumplings. Both were so good, the Thai dumplings were very filling and full of flavor. On to the main course, we ordered roasted duck curry with white jasmine rice and beef pad see ew. Both dishes were great but the roasted duck curry was fantastic! It was spicy and full of duck meat (it was hiding at the bottom). Lastly, the presentation of everything we ordered was so nice and made us feel like we were at a fancy restaurant. I definitely recommend this restaurant and if you want to try the other Thai joint, flip a coin. Very nice place with amazing Thai food and super friendly service.

I was seated at a smaller booth, which was comfortable as I was dining alone. I arrived at approximately 3:30. The restaurant was definitely not crowded, only diners at a few other tables. Quite a few diners did come in around 4 or 4:30. I headed over to pick up a bowl and fill it with items for the grill. The food was well organized and I appreciated that everything was labeled. There was a large selection of meats and seafood. The vegetable selection was lacking though. I like a bowl with mostly vegetables, and there weren't that many to choose from. The asparagus and corn were frozen, and the fresh broccoli was not fresh. I tried to select the freshest of the broccoli but it still tasted old and bitter after cooking. I liked the selection of sauces, as well as the suggestions. I tried a milder recipe the first time, and when I made a smaller second bowl o tried some of the spicier sauces. The grill employees were friendly and did a nice job. I didn't have to wait to have my food grilled but I can see how if the restaurant was busy it might take some time. Overall a good first visit. The only disappointment was the selection and quality of the available vegetables.
