I would have given them over 4 stars if the price was not so high. There food is very good authentic Thai and I am not saying I wont go back. My only complaint is the price is a lot higher than most comparable Thai restaurants in the area. I had 3 main dishes and 3 small soups and it came to almost $80 with tip. Now if I am going to a place I expect to pay more but this was takeout. I understand that prices are higher but how come other places would only charge me about 50 or 60 for a similar meal? I almost don't want to give this place a bad review just because the customer service was excellent. But for the sake of food, ah what can I say. I wasn't impressed. Having tried several vegan thai places, I can say that they did not do a good job. They do have a separate vegan menu and did have lunch specials until 3 or 4. We got some spring rolls, drunken noodles and red curry with rice. We liked the spring rolls, they were delicious. The red curry didn't taste that great but was edible. But, the drunken noodles had a really bad smell to it. We tried mixing some red sauce and eating it but there was just no way to handle it. We asked our server about the smell of the food. He was happy to take it back and then the chef also came and apologized and he brought some basil and another ingredient for us to smell so he can figure out what's wrong. I can't tell what was the problem. Maybe it was the oil that it was cooked in. I am grateful for the nice service but unfortunately our experience wasn't a good one. Maybe it was just an off day. I've been eating at Thai Meal for YEARS. I've brought countless friends who have also made this place their go-to Thai restaurant. The eggplant dish is amazing. The drunken noodles are fantastic. I haven't found better tofu (except maybe my mom's, but that's irrelevant). The service has always been so friendly and efficient. One of the waiters has even given me free Thai Donuts after my meal. My wife and I went to Thai Meal on a Thursday afternoon, just before they stopped serving lunch, so we looked at the complete menu as well as the abbreviated lunch menu. The restaurant has about 10-15 tables, and less than half were occupied. But there was only ONE server, and she was getting off work soon. She tried hard,but service was a bit slow. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. We wanted papaya salad, but they were out and my wife ordered the shrimp satay instead. Disappointing--3 shrimp each on two skewers and a tiny dish of two sauces. Not particularly flavorful. Wouldn't order again. For entrees, my wife got the Pad Thai with chicken and I got what is advertised on the menu as a Vietnamese crepe. The Pad Thai was bland. We were asked if we wanted it hot and we asked for 3 stars out of 5. I'd say what we got was closer to 1.5. The Vietnamese crepe sounded good on the menu-- chicken, shrimp, bean sprouts and a few other veggies wrapped in a crepe and quickly fried. What I got looked like a giant fried flour taco. The crepe itself and the contents were VERY deep fried and oily. Aside from the oil, there was very little other taste. This was the third time we've eaten here. I really enjoyed the takeout I got during the height of the COVID lockdown, and my wife had a good lunch there a few weeks ago. Was it bad menu choices, an off day for the kitchen staff, or is this the normal quality of food? I don't know. Some of our friends love this place so I assume we'll be back at some point. Definitely an awesome place for Thai food. It wasn't just the food, the waitress and chef were fantastic. Their special fried rice is an item you need to try, it has chicken,beef, pork and shrimp. Nicest part, all the meats were cooked separately and garnished the rice in sections so if you didn't want one of the meats, you didn't have to take it. We were there with our granddaughter and husband and we each got something different and we all loved what we got. The portions were generous and very tasty. Too bad I didn't have my phone, thus no pictures. The chef came out to see if our meal was satisfactory and invited us back. Absolutely, we are going back before we return North. Thai Meal is a new restaurant that has opened at the old East West Cafe location. The restaurant is nice and less cluttered as some of the previous reviews have also stated. They were obviously understaffed on the day of my particular visit, to the point that we saw a table get up and leave since no one has acknowledged them, and the servers seemed overwhelmed, my friend never received his spring roll, and it took several requests to get waters filled, but with all that said the servers were very nice and friendly, and apologetic for the delays. I ordered the chicken fried rice which was also served with a house salad with ginger dressing. The salad was your basic salad, the veggies were very crisp and fresh. The Chicken Fried Rice was outstanding! Not only did it have a nice presentation, the taste was phenomenal, the chicken was tender, juicy and very flavorful and the rice was equally delicious, and I have to admit I was very surprised at how good it was. I ordered chicken pad Thai and Thai iced tea. I ordered the pad Thai at a medium spicy level and that was the perfect spicyness. I love spicy food and can handle really spicy food but if it was a hot by their standards I don't think I could've handled it. Their medium was pretty spicy but spicy enough to the point I could finish my meal. The Thai iced tea was delicious per usual. We came here during lunch and it was moderately busy but not too crazy. One downfall was, the dish was small compared to servings at other restaurants. I usually have left overs when I order pad Thai elsewhere but here, I ate all of it. I definitely plan on coming here more often for Thai food and to try their other menu items. My brother loved it and he's been raving about it since. Good value for the meals. We have tried several times here, few must order: pad thai, malaysian noodles, with spicy level 4 This time, we tried saigon crepe, i like it but hb said it is too plain. The crepe is crispy with the filling of shrimp, chicken, onion and bean sprout. I love the crispyness of the crepe. Tomyam soup is a big disappointment. Our final dish was the Panang Curry with Shrimp and it was the BEST Panang I've every had. It was perfectly creamy, not oily and had fresh string beans, and whole cashews.
