First off do you know how confusing it is to tell people to try The Thai Restaurant? They're like ok...which one? The Thai Restaurant on Augusta. And again they're like yes, but which one? I've only ever had take out from here and definitely come back for the dining in experience. The food though is pretty stellar. The crazy thing about The Thai Restaurant is that their pad Thai is just a "meh guess that was alright" but their curries will blow your mind...and palate!! This is very unfortunate. I have read so many positive reviews so I went in the afternoon. I ordered coconut chicken soup. It was good but not amazing. The chicken pieces were larger than the spoon and a little clumsy to get on the spoon. Soup was warm but not hot. Chicken was ok but a little chewey. The main course was a peppered steak with rice. The steak was not a good cut and was tough. The dish was not served hot. I only ate half of it. I was disappointed. read more

What a fantastic restaurant with great service. North is a phenomenal server and always takes such good care of me and my girls. Everyone who works there is in a happy mood, the restaurant is clean, and the meals are authentic and many levels above your average Thai restaurant. It's also very kid friendly which is a plus. This "4" was much spicier than I anticipated! Lost the Recipe -- I've been ordering Red Curry at Thai Restaurant for decades. They lost the recipe. The dish had almost no flavor, except for the hot spices. I don't know what happened, but they need to pull out Terry's old recipes and undo whatever changes have been made. read more

I ordered the chicken fried rice for lunch to go and it was delicious. Only negative about this dish is that there's not a while of chicken in it. There were maybe about 10 small pieces of chicken. I also asked for a medium spiciness and their spice level is a little bit spicier than most Thai places. I still ate it though. The restaurant is located towards the end of Augusta Rd away from downtown in small shopping strip next to Spinx gas station. There's not a whole lot of parking so it might be hard to find a spot during lunch. The inside doesn't look much more than your typical hole in a wall with great food. Giving it only 4 stars just for the fact that for the price point I should have gotten a little bit more protein. But may have been a different chef because the first time, a 3 spice level had some heat. But it was delicious. The pork fried rice tasted fried extremely hard on the grill and it was kinda scorched. A legendary Augusta Rd. restaurant. Before covid (when we could dine-in places) I literally have never eaten here and not seen someone I know. Great food and a super friendly staff. Our staple order here is to get green curry and vegan pad-see-ew here. We also add a steamed broccoli dish later mix into the green curry. It's fantastic. There isn't much of a bar here, but they have a nice collection of Asian beer always served in a cold glass. Food was yummy. I always order curry at Thai restaurants, and theirs looked different but still tasted delicious. However the service wasn't the best. Had to keep getting up to ask the host for items. Our server had us waiting to order, waiting for a straw, waiting to ask her about our order which she dropped off in a hurry, never bothering to ask if we needed anything else. I know how to make curry at home (although admittedly not as good). You go out to eat for a good time. Not sure if I can recommend this spot. read more

I've only eaten lunch here but done that many times and really do love what they have on offer. The restaurant has a bright, attractive modern setting with a large attentive staff that seems mostly family run. The lunch specials consist of about 10 different stir fry dishes with varying veggies and sauces and then priced based on your choice of protein. I've had several but keep coming back to the one called "Hungry" which includes about all of the veggies in a delicious light spicy sauce. One thing I have to single them out for is their excellent and consistent heat level adjustment AND really providing a HOT level if you want that. I've settled on an "8" out of a possible 10 and that brings some serious heat and is the hottest food I've found in Greenville. Many places ASK about spice level but in my experience don't really adjust much, particularly on the higher end. I've eaten with groups of people at Thai Restaurant where every level of spice has been requested from zero to high and everyone ended up happy with their food. The veggies are always crispy and fresh and the meat good quality and quantity. The lunch special includes soup or salad and I always get the soup. It is a light, peppery, rich broth full of crisp cabbage and veggies - simple, hearty and delicious. The price is right and their unsweet tea is always fresh and refreshing. One tip is that parking can get full at lunch but I've always found a spot in the secondary area behind the building. If you're in the mood for some Thai food, particularly the spicy kind, give Thai Restaurant a try. read more

Some of the BEST Thai food in the Greenville/Upstate area! Can never go wrong with the coconut chicken soup on a cold day! They are definitely busy during peak hours, especially lunch! I have had a pretty good lunch experience here, but then a pretty poor dinner experience. The dinner experience was poor because, although we chose veggie-heavy dishes, there were almost no veggies in them. They were mostly canned bamboo shoots, with a sprig or two of a few other veggies as garnish. This was frustrating, as one of the main reasons we ordered those dishes was to get the veggies. Denied. On this disappointing dinner visit, only one of our dishes was even very good, the "Hungry" Stir Fry that my husband usually orders. And while the sauce on that was indeed tasty, the meat amount was low and the veggies were mostly missing. Our service was lacking, for example, one of our entrees was brought out before we even received our appetizer. It was the taken away, back to the kitchen, where I assume it just sat and cooled before being re-served to us. Wine was $7/glass and is not branded, just a "house" variety. We both found the pour short, the wine quality low with a bad taste, and then the price high in light of these factors. The spice level was also off, with no real spice to speak of and definitely not the 6-7 spice level (out of 10) that we ordered. My husband usually does not have this problem and eats here regularly, so maybe it was an off night? Even so, I won't be back at dinner - why risk a second disappointing meal. Lunch seems to be more consistent (and maybe they haven't run out of veggies that early in the day). The decor is very pretty and this restaurant seems to draw a good crowd. But if you're really craving the meat and veggies, be aware that you may not get much of that without ordering some extra dishes. read more

Best Thai restaurant in Greenville I have been able to find thus far. Found this place via yelp and don't regret it at all. Brought my co workers with me on lunch and they loved it. We had a party of 8, were on a time crunch, and they've never had Thai, but everything went smoothly. Service was great. The ladies were a joy to be around. Everyone loved their food. Trusty yelp app to the rescue once again. I was on my way from Charlotte to Atlanta to see a concert with some friends and we wanted a good solid meal before we boozed it up. I think they maybe only had 2 employees working but somehow they made it work. If the lunch crowd was much bigger, I don't know what they would have done. I went for the red curry at an 8 like Melissa M. mentioned. WOW, that was hot, like legit thai hot. I'm not a pansy but I was sweating hard. I did notice my lack of waiter when I was dying over not having a refill but it was good non-the-less. My buddy got the pad thai at a 5 and it still had a solid bite. The chai drink tasted odd to me but that's just me. The decor is unique and it located near an elementary school. I recommend taking the family there for dinner. For vegetarians this is a no no. First time we came here however, this food when it came out it STANK!!! It stunk so much, we couldn't finish and got up and left, didn't even care to say anything honestly, not to mention they even forgot to add what we wanted in the noodles and didn't ask us to even add or switch out.
