Probably the best Thai fried rice and wonton dishes we've ever had. The pineapple fried rice is my favorite. Real 'cooked in a wok' taste. Prices are incredibly reasonable so zero complaints there, and the staff so polite and helpful. Be careful with the spice level here. A "mild" here has the spice level of like Sriracha. If you don't LOVE spicy food, get Not Spicy. Seriously. I saw someone complaining about they messed up the order because the "mild" was too spicy, I had the mild and it burned my mouth off. With the spicy level, it's EXTREMELY heavy-handed. I also ate half of the Fire and I got light-headed and cried for 20 minutes straight. Took the other half home and cried for another 20 minutes. A few weeks later, on separate occasions, I ate Flaming Hot Cheetos, a bunch of Wasabi, and drank some sriracha. They meant nothing to me. The Pad Thai comes with peanuts and bean sprouts. The noodles are nice and chewy, so no complaints there. I will say, though, the Pad Thai doesn't taste right. I don't know what it is, but it feels like it's 90% of the flavor I expect from a Thai restaurant, like it's missing something and there's too much lemon/lime/acid flavor. I frequent this place though, they sometimes have a promotion which makes the Pad Thai a steal! This place can be pretty good and if you want to test your mettle with spicy food. Simply terrible. I'm a restaurant owner and I would be ashamed of serving the food that they served me. The restaurant is located in a strip mall by Irvine Center and Jeffrey. I was one of the first there during lunch time. For lunch I ordered their special "Panang curry" with chicken. I know this is what most would considered "fast food" Thai but my food literally came out in 2 minutes on a to go plate and curry poured over rice. The curry was very bland and looking at the plate of food --I was pretty lucky that I didn't get sick. Horrible presentation, watery, flavorless. After a bad experience at the Tustin Thai Spice, we decided to come to this location after a long time. I remembered why I loved Thai Spice to begin with! Their service here was great, the employees were super friendly. The food, as always, tasted great too. I wanted to try something new but ended up getting my usual, spicy chicken on rice dish. It was still great nevertheless. Last time, at the Tustin location we had a bad time because we always get medium level spice but it was unbearable one time whereas every other time it's perfect, so this time although we wanted medium we opted for mild. Had take-out from here tonight via UberEats and was surprised at how good it was! I am on day 2 of wisdom tooth extraction post-op so I really just wanted some soup. I always go for the medium If you want to know who in OC serves the best wings THAI SPICE HANDS DOWN! They are giant, extremely crispy and down right so flavorful. Seriously best wings I have ever had. It is a bit sticky but sooo good. You will not be disappointed. The only down fall today was that we ordered and ate there. This place is the bomb diggity! I come here to eat at least once every two weeks (sometimes once a week) and have pretty much ordered the same thing every time so... take the review with a grain of salt hahaha. It's a narrow-ish place with upstairs seating (pretty cool) and outdoor seating. The kitchen is alongside a corridor which leads to the restroom so the restaurant feels a bit "long". The food is DELICIOUS however so decor don't matta at all. Pad See Ewe (5/5) - on a good day, this dish that they make is DELICIOUS. Pad See Ewe is a dish that stir fries flat noodles, egg, various veggies, and a protein of your choose with dark soy sauce and a mixture of other ingredients. I typically like getting the soft tofu since it's healthy and delicious but you can pick any of their provided proteins (beef, chicken, shrimp, etc). Sometimes it can be a bit inconsistent in terms of noodle firmness but usually flavour makes up for it when it's not so great. Pad Thai (4/5) - THEY HAVE A $5 PAD THAI MONDAY DEAL. You need to bring cash however so just FYI! Their pad thai is pretty good but this most recent trip I had, it was a little blander than their normal serving of it. Dynamite Chicken (5/5) - They have this ginger soy sauce honey glazed fried chicken appetizer and it is SO DAMN DELICIOUS. If you've ever been up to Santung in San Francisco (or any asian restaurant that serves it), it's really similar in flavor and texture. SO DELICIOUS - WOULD RECOMMEND GETTING THIS DISH Fried Rices - Yummy but it's been awhile since I've had this so no review. I remember the texture of the rice being good and the flavor not being horrible. It didn't stand out to me though. Please be careful ordering anything with meat from this place. This is the chicken wontons appetizer I ordered. I ate one bite and I smell the rancid chicken while it's in my mouth. It is disgusting. Thai Spice is a decent, fast food Thai restaurant that to me, tastes the same as the other Thai spices. And warning, they cook to order like the other stores so you might have to wait awhile for your food. This store seems to make their medium spicy hotter than other Thai places. Pad Thai and Sweet and Sour Chicken are typical things friends and I order, with the former dish much better. Their sweet/sour chicken sauce is served separate in a cup beside the chicken pieces. You're supposed to pour it yourself on the deep fried chicken at the last minute to minimize sogginess. For the price (about $9 for each) the portion sizes are decent. I also order the small won ton soup with ground pork as the protein used, not barbecue pork, for $4. Beware of the $5 large Thai tea in a quart container, enough for two people. Taste is pretty good though. Inside it's uncomfortably small especially if you wait for your food standing up because there isn't much room to do that. And it's so small that you will be tempted to eat on the patio (no fun if it's windy or rainy) or upstairs. In late afternoon you may be tempted to open the window over the parking lot. If you come here on a Wednesday night, the patio seating, or upstairs seating means you can be either treated or punished by some good or some bad Open Mic performers. That night, many nervous performers are rehearsing in the parking lot as you enter. (Paradise Perks across the way is a cool coffee shop that has performers for their weekly event.) The first night we went, we had to close the window because some loud, slightly off pitch vocally group was singing the Gorgo Bordello hit,"Start Wearing Purple" over and over again. Some guy and his friend with us upstaris said, "Maybe I can dump some of my purple taro smoothie on them...and they will be wearing purple"...but he was just kidding I think. This was my go to place when I was craving Thai food and I have been coming here for at least a decade. Reasonably priced, decent and easy order and pick up Thai food. Unfortunately this was the first time I had a bad experience worth writing about. I ordered 4 dishes online. I was told the order would be ready in 35 minutes. I went to the place at estimated time given when the food would be done. The place was busy with lots of orders so It was understandable that my order wasn't ready. They said maybe 5-10 more minutes. I waited and waited and checked in again and was told wasn't ready. Many orders where done and given to people that came in after me and the tall Asian guy with glasses were friendly and helped people he recognized and completely ignored me when I was standing right at the pickup sign. After waiting 30 minutes more at the place after the 35 minutes when I placed the order, I asked the cashier if the order had even been made and if it hadn't I would cancel and ask for a refund. She looked it up and then went to speak to the manager... after five more minutes, she came back with my order. I understand mistakes happen especially when busy but my order must have been ready a while ago and sitting somewhere in the kitchen and they mislabeled it and no one took the time to check. So my review of the food: The food was the worst I have ever gotten from this place. The Tom yum soup was super salty and didn't have much in it but lots of white onions. The pad Thai was salty and soggy. The crispy tofu was anything but crispy and wasn't even fried all the way. The yellow curry with rice on the side was also salty and messy and not even appetizing. Such a disappointment after spending $40+ for my meal. I will give a big thumbs up for the staff other than the rude Asian guy in glasses (did not have a name tag) who completely ignored me and helped others get their orders. The Hispanic lady who took orders, answered phone orders did her best being it was very busy and finally sorted out the order and apologized for the mistake. Also the hard working cooks in the hot kitchen deserve acknowledgement for working hard in a non air conditioned hot and small space. Unfortunately this will be my last time here since the food quality has gone downhill over the years and this meal left a bad taste for me after the bad experience and the disappointing food I received. I had the pad kra-pow ($6.25; spicy beef on rice), #46 on the menu. I asked for it to be at the three pepper level (spicy hot), and it came out deliciously hot! If you see me sweating buckets - you can't fake that - you know I'm happy. On the plus side, the food is actually savory too, not just soaked in peppery goodness. Wow i can't believe i haven't reviewed this place yet! We've been coming here for years and through out college for thai fixes! The classic food has been constantly good throughout the years no matter what time or day you come. The all time favorite still has to be the classic pad thai mild. It's slight sweetness, yet kick from the spice is perfectly meshed together with the huge serving of pan fried noodles, large shrimps and chicken. Although for those that can't handle the spice you can always go with the none spice route, or EXTRA spicy if you're that bold. If you're thirsty you definitely can't go wrong with the Thai Tea here too! It's super creamy flavor is just sweet enough without being TOO sweet like alot of thai teas. Egg Fried Rice w/beef (mild) - the rice tasted a bit over cooked and there wasn't as much beef compared to the amount of rice. It was good but tasted slightly bland, added some of my own hot sauce to it to give it some flavor. Egg Rolls (3) - lots of places make egg rolls quite differently, so I ordered 3 in case these were small. I'd have to say 3 was more than enough. These were very good, some of the best I've tasted compared to other places. Unless you either love egg rolls or are very hungry, ordering 1 is enough. Also the sauce was yummy as well. I would've given the food a 5 cause I did enjoy the meal but the bland flavor of the fried rice and it being slightly over cooked held me back.
