I had the 5 Spot Crab Cakes: ( signature blue crab cakes, roasted garlic aioli, crisp brussels salad in lemon shallot vinaigrette with feta, pecans, strawberries & apples). My fiance had the Blackened Salmon Salad* 17 - mixed greens, blackened salmon, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, red radish, cucumbers, goat cheese crumbles). For my drink, I had a "Strawberry T" - muddled strawberries, sour mix, sweet tea), and my fiance had the "No-Jito "- sour mix, fresh mint, simple syrup, soda). Both entrees were really good. The overall experience is okay. What I find weird is that they don't really have any lunch menu, so expect to pay at least over $16 for a lunch without soda. I sat outside today and man I regretted it. Once our lunch was brought out, my friend and I were being bothered by five huge flies nonstop--not fun. It's hard to enjoy eating and our conversation as we had to constantly wave at the flies. I don't like their paying experience. They use this mobile pos system WITHOUT printer, so you don't get a receipt including your tip. You only get the pre-tipping receipt. Not that I think the final amount would be wrong, I just think it's better to have a final customer copy. By the way, I find their Philly cheese steak sandwich a bit soggy. We've been loyal fans of The 5 Spot since moving here last August--great food, great service, and always a good time. Unfortunately, the last two visits have been a big disappointment. Service was slow and inattentive both times, and this weekend the food came out cold and the grits were not edible. Staff were either distracted, gossiping near the kitchen, or glued to their phones. I'm in the middle of a very disappointing experience at The 5 Spot. After dropping my wife off at the Habersham Village Garden Show this morning, I decided to stop in here for brunch while waiting for my wife to finish the tour. I arrived at 11am to a fairly bustling restaurant, and rather than take up a table for a couple of hours, I decided to sit at the bar, which was completely open/vacant at the time. The bartender greeted me shortly after I sat down and handed me a menu. I asked for a cup of coffee and by the time she came back, I had decided on ordering a few side dishes: Fresh Fruit ($4), Crispy Potatoes ($2.50), and Wheat Toast ($2.50). I ordered these items at 11:05am, and given that only one item required any cooking, you would think that I would have received my order fairly quickly. However, 10 minutes went by, and then 15, and then 20. During this time, the bar had filled up and I had been sitting with an empty cup of coffee. I finally waved down the bartender and received a refill. After 5 more minutes, at exactly 11:30am, I received my order (see photo). Unfortunately, my "crispy potatoes" were cold; and I don't mean lukewarm, I mean cold. I ate my two half-slices of toast and the few pieces of fruit that were served to me, and pushed the plate away from me as a clear notice that I was done with my "meal." I was curious to see whether I would be asked if anything was wrong or asked why I hadn't eaten the potatoes. However, the only comment I got from the bartender was to ask me whether I wanted anything else. Mind you, I was sitting with an empty coffee cup again. I decided to order a Bloody Mary, which was served to me in about 30 seconds since it came from a premade mix. As you can imagine, the Bloody Mary was subpar and nothing that I would get again. When the bartender brought the drink, she still didn't take the plate away (see photo), so I specifically told her that I was done and that she could take it. She did, but she still didn't ask me why I ordered the potatoes and didn't touch them. It is now noon, and I have been here for one hour. Rather than order any more food or any more drinks, I'm just going to ask for my check and find someplace else to go to. Needless to say, I won't be returning here. read more

They had great reviews but they must not be from foodies. We found this place to be low quality cafeteria versions of nice sounding foods. Atmosphere is nice and doesn't feel like a cafeteria. APPETIZERS - Truffle Fries. The truffle oil is very sparse, hardly noticeable. - Artichoke dip. This was my favorite item from the night. It had a different type of consistency than expected. I suspect they use ricotta in the dip (but I didn't confirm). It was thick and not soupy, which made it easier to scoop with a chip. Really tasty. ENTREES - Meatloaf. It has good reviews but looked like a industrially-made frozen square meatloaf that was reheated. It was a bit dry and not super flavorful. I prefer a tender moist meatloaf. - Shrimp and Grits. I was excited as I love me some S&G, and love finding new places to try them because there is so much variety in the recipes. I didn't like this one. There was cheese on the dish, lots of it, that reminded me of velvetta cheese. That is not how you do S&G. - Chicken Alfredo. Daughter loves Alfredo. The cheese used in this was the same as the S&G...velvetta or something similar. It was not a rich Alfredo sauce. - Black and Bleu Burger. Topped with bacon. Wife ordered this. We are here on our trip to visit Savannah, GA, and it did not disappoint. We went based on the reviews we read. My husband and I ordered the meatloaf and mashed potatoes (husband kept the collard greens it comes with), and I substituted my greens with a side of their Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was made with white cheddar, and was super creamy and tasty. My husband said the collard greens were good as well (he didn't leave anything on his plate). We're Hispanic and we're expecting the food to be bland here, but this meal was very tasty! Their sweet iced tea was also just right, we had ordered it in a couple other places in the neighborhood and those were too sweet. Our server, Elle I believe, was very nice and attentive. She was familiar with the items on the menu and made excellent recommendations, both about their food items and places we could visit while in Georgia (this was a plus). She kept our drinks refilled the entire time which is not very common for wait staff in Miami! The restaurant has both regular tables and booths, we were given a booth. Our booth even had a couple of pillows on the sides for extra comfort. Booth offered privacy for good conversation. There were also a couple of tables outside to change the mood, if it's what you prefer. The atmosphere inside was nice and quiet, even though the place had television sets throughout. Apparently there are two locations, haven't been to the other but this is a great location. Just outside of the historic district so you have the crowds, waits, and parking issues. So this already starts off well. This establishment is pretty big with outdoor seating as well. Definitely good for groups. As far as the food goes, the fried green tomatoes were extra crispy but still juicy in the middle. The goat cheese was extra creamy. Definitely recommend. I came here for dinner but this place definitely has a brunch vibe and I would definitely come back just to try that out. They've got a lot of interesting burgers, wraps, salads, and entrees to choose from. They've also got a full bar and pretty good sweet tea. The staff is very friendly and inviting, and the manager walks around to each table to see how you're doing. Besides this five star treatment, this place is pretty casual, hence the brunch vibe. The food is fresh and delicious. I got the burger and my husband got a steak. They were cooked to order and delicious. On a side note, pun intended, They have the best fries! She was too full, but this place made me a human dumpster fire, and I was ok with it. My only regret is not getting something to go for later. The place has a nice warm glow and orange and brown tones. Not too bright, yet not too dark either that it makes you sleepy. While I was waiting, I looked over the menu and they have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I'm sure everyone will find something they would like to munch on. They have a decent, varied menu without offering too many choices that you get overwhelmed. Although I don't drink (what?!), it seemed that they had some good happy hour specials going! My friend arrived shortly and I followed her lead. She ordered the Blackened Salmon Salad and I did the "I'll have what she's having" move. Good choice, Friend! We got it in a small and what a perfect light dinner. It was a decent sized piece of salmon and cooked to perfection. My only star deduction is for not having real maple syrup and using jams that contain high fructose corn syrup. Unfortunately my father's gyro had a plastic bread tab in it which he bit into his first bite. Instant appetite lost. A waitresswalked by so we said something, we know it wasn't her or even her fault but she acted lost and did a spin like we were wrong for not wanting the food. The woman who I believe was the manager came over and told us she removed it from the bill as if she gave us something free. We weren't looking for a free meal but to say the food we didn't eat was taken off in the manner she did was not how we expected to be treated. Yes it was taken off bc we didn't eat it not because they did us a favor.
