My bestie and I came here when I was down home for a visit. I heard great things about this place and it wasn't too far from where my mom lives. If you like craft beer, you will like it here. My friend and I both decided to start out with cocktails instead. I can' remember the name of either one, but I do remember that I didn't like mines too much, as it wasn't all that great. For our app, we ordered the wonton nachos, which I thought were good. It's basically tuna poke on top of wonton chips and some sauce. They did their job in easing our hunger. Our server went over the specials that day which were the shrimp po-boy sandwich and the chicken parmesan, that she made sure to mention was selling out fast. We both decided to go with the specials. The chicken parm was really good and it was served with a saucy and spicy marinara. My friend's po-boy did not look transitional, but she enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere here is really chill and its a place for everyone. We saw many different people there families with kids, young adults, and we had the pleasure of sitting next to the kindest senior couple. Bestie and I ended the meal with some beers that we knew we were too full to drink. I had something made with strawberry which was quite delightful. I haven't been to The Abby in awhile and it did not disappoint. I had my pup with me so we sat out front and Vanessa took great care of us. We shared the artichoke caprese salad which was so fresh and they split it for us. The salmon dish is very upscale for a casual dining restaurant. The blend of the rice, and veggies complemented the salmon for a perfect bite. And the grilled cheese and tomato soup brought me back to my childhood but way better. Rumor has it that this place is regularly voted as having the best burgers around. Believe it - it's not rumor it's the honest truth. I ventured to this place for lunch one weekday afternoon. It was warm with a slightly cool ocean breeze that day so I decided to sit outdoors and immediately ordered an adult drink. As I sipped on a glass of Sycamore Lane Cabernet (good but slightly more tannic than I prefer) I decided on the West Coast Burger for my meal. The thick burger patty, served medium, was topped with crisp, smokey bacon, beer-battered onion rings, lettuce, tomato, herb mayo, and chipotle BBQ sauce. It was huge and messy (extra napkins were dropped off because my fantastic server knew they'd be needed). I'd put this bad boy up against any burger for a taste challenge. I loved it. The fries on the side were thin & well-seasoned, crisp outside and soft inside. Delicious. I'm rarely in this area but wouldn't need to know about any of the other restaurants on Main Street in Seal Beach because this place would be my automatic choice. read more

I came here for happy hour on Wednesday last week (4-6pm), so this review is purely a reflection of the food offerings for happy hour; so do take it with a grain of salt. The experience just left a lot to be desired. The waitress didn't seem enthusiastic and water wasn't often refilled. I got the wonton nachos, chicken tenders, and mac and cheese. The chicken tenders were delicious -- definitely the best part of the happy hour specials. The mac and cheese was mushy with no flavor. Just drenched in cream, but lacking salt, seasoning, and flavor. Wouldn't recommend. The wonton nachos with the steak were OK. I probably would skip them next time, but not bad. All in all, the food left a bit to be desired--I'd try this place again, but if there happy hour offerings are indicative of what might be on their menu--it just doesn't give me strong confidence in their food offerings. read more

So first of all...DONT miss this place. Its hard to see if you're not from the area. If you're coming from ocean (the pier) its all the way down toward pch. If you're coming from pch...its on your left. Some of these spots get overlooked, especially when the streets are busy with ppl. So...lets talk about customer service. A+ Y'ALL!!! Everyone is friendly. We've been twice and I feel like a regular. AMANDA was out server this last time. Total sweetheart. Super attentive. The crew really helps one another. This is definitely a local spot, but also very welcoming to visitors from anywhere. Spacious??? I thought so. Very creative little patio outside im assuming due to covid. But either way, I dig the patio. Food. We went twice and ate once. So, im bummed I missed out on the first time lol. But (hopefully my picture looks appealing) we ordered this Buffalo pizza.....HOLY MOLY and poki nachos. Beer...ummm A++. I love franziskaner!! And man its so delicious. We love The Abbey! My friend bragged on their burgers, and I have to admit, they may be one of the best in 20 square miles (except maybe Belmont Brewing Kobe burger). The full size burger tasted better than the sliders, IMO. The crowd seems to be local and very friendly. They have outside dining for those with furry kiddos. Servers are friendly and helpful, and service is fast enough for a nice casual meal. The pizza is OK, but the burgers will bring me back every time. read more

My husband and I visited the Abbey last night around 5:30pm. It was date night and we were ready for drinks and some good food. We cut our visit short thanks to the hostess. Upon entering she offered us a table for 2 across from each other. My husband said, "can we sit at the 4 top table so I can sit next to my wife?" The hostess told us no because it's Friday night they were not allowed to seat couples at 4 tops. Fast Forward to 8 minutes later when the same hostess sat a couple at the 4 top table next to us. Needless to say it was frustrating to see that couple sit next to each other. Fast Forward to 3 minutes later and she sat another couple at the 4 top next to us! Wow. We asked the server for our bill and left after just drink and an appetizer. I may have felt different had she come over and apologized or at least mentioned it, but she knew she was wrong. Every time she walked by our table she looked the other way as to not make eye contact with us. If this is a policy, then stick to it. If it's not then she shouldn't be telling people that. read more

If you're looking for a cozy place for a pizza and a beer, and aren't in a rush, the abbey's pizza is a star! They have their own brick pizza oven! Going to start out with stating, that I don't post a review on EVERY place I dine at or use of a business's service. With that said, I've been checking out Down Town Seal Beach's Main St restaurants for the past few months, and last night's dining experience was worth writing a review for The Abbey. Little hectic when we first walked in. Not sure if we needed to be seated or seat ourselves. This place was busy and you could tell it was filled up with a bunch of locals, but you didn't get that outsider vibe. Picked a table and within seconds we were greeted, menus brought, and drink orders taken by Crystal, who stayed very attentive and provided excellent customer service. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with regular fries, and the west coast burger with sweet potato fries. Oh and a margherita pizza as an appetizer. Food was really good. On my west coast burger, I wasn't into the bun they used, but that's just me. It was still delicious. The pizza is the only thing I didn't take a pic of, but will next time as this place will definitely be a place I'd go back again to try more things on their menu. read more

The Abbey is a Gastropub that is located in the heart of Seal Beach Ca. I was on a road trip southbound on PCH to nowhere when I came up on this gem. There was a bit of a challenge trying to find a parking space due to there being street parking only. We were seated right away, just in time for happy hour. The happy hour here is Monday 2pm to closing, Thursday - Friday 2pm to 6pm. The menu has a variety of delicious Items all under $10.00 that will do the job. A few of the Items we had was the Asian nachos that was to die for, also the buffalo tenders that was pretty good too. This place had great customer service, delicious food plus friendly and helpful staff. When I'm back in this area this place is a must stop. read more

Walked in here on a whim and what a great choice. We had the daily Pick 2 special: i selected a grilled cheese with homemade beef barley soup--so very delicious with carrots, potatoes and beef with a scrumptious flavor. My guy had a BLTA sandwich with chili and it was pretty good with the bottomless mimosas. He tried the mimosa with OJ and also with cranberry juice. He liked the cranberry best. The service was excellent as we sat at the bar but I noticed the guests at the tables were getting excellent service as well. There are TVs everywhere as we watched our Dodgers spank the Rangers. We both really enjoyed the fun, friendly vibe of the patrons and especially from the staff. I can't say enough positive stuff about the bartender who never allowed our drinks to get empty. We will definitely be back and next time I will try the chocolate lava cake or the Abbey Sundae, after summertime when I'm no longer trying to fit into a bathing suit. read more
