My family and i had a horrible experience here. We had a reservation for my moms birthday and when we got there it was a bit chilly so i asked the hostess if we could sit inside which she said yes of course. Then she comes back and said actually they can't accommodate us inside. Fine, no problem as we go to sit outside we see that they have heaters so we asked to have one brought to our table. Again, the hostess said yes definitely, then she comes back and says they are all "broken" . Unbelievable! But that's not even the worst part. We get brought drink menus by the hostess and after waiting atleast 10 minutes the waitress finally comes over with waters and when we have all picked cocktails from the menu she tells us that's the wrong menu they gave us and they don't have those drinks because it's the winter menu. Seriously! After she brings us a new menu we do not see our waitress in sight. after 40 minutes of waiting with only water served while we are starving and freezing we decided to get up and leave! Yes 40 MINUTES with no service but water!! Never have i gotten up and left a restaurant but this was so unbelievably awful that we decided to go. Talked to the manager where all he could do was say sorry and ask us where we were sitting. Will never return here! Can't comment on food because we never even got to try it. read more

We had never been here, so anxious to try. The waitstaff was welcoming and efficient. We were given a water view table. The salad was very good and large enough to share. The appetizer clam cakes were doughy- I slathered lots of tartar sauce on them. The Peruvian chicken however was delightful- so spicy and moist. The risotto served with it was a disappointment - tasted out of a box. My husband's tuna was very good- he was happy with his meal. Amazing view! Great staff! Delicious food! We went as a party of 6 plus a baby over the Labor Day weekend and had a great experience! I was worried since the weather was gorgeous (thought it would be crazy) but we went for an early dinner and everything was awesome. Cocktails were good- especially the cucumber lemonade, very refreshing. Everyone was happy with their food, burrata salad with salmon was perfect and burgers were a hit. They let us put our kids order in first thing so it was our first. Special shoutout for comfortable outdoor chairs and adorable indoor decor! And did I the mention the view? What's not to like about good food by the ocean? Dined with a group on the spacious patio, overlooking the water - boats and a lighthouse kept us company beyond a hedge of sea roses. Service was excellent and they easily kept up with a party large enough to fill two tables. The lunch menu offerings were a nice selection of seafood items as well as a few things for land lovers. I chose the clam chowder to start, which was a thick, creamy bowl of goodness topped with a fried clam strip - a nice touch! For my entree, I had the fish tacos, which were amazing! Everyone was satisfied with their meal and with the decision to dine at the Beach House! Since it's located right on the bike path, lunch was followed by a scenic walk. I bet this place is great on a summer day! Unfortunately, the food is just OK. I ordered a salad for $15 and it was measly. I could've made the same salad at home for seven dollars, maybe even less. My husband ordered a hamburger and said it was OK. My kids had the chicken tenders and pasta which were good portion sizes. Just don't go for the salad thinking that it's gonna be a filling item. The Beach House is doing a great job with the current challenges and regulations. Hand sanitizer at the hostess stand, reservations required, outdoor only seating, masks required while not seated and all employees wearing masks (properly). We visited for lunch and were able to get out of the afternoon sun on their partially covered deck and enjoyed friendly and prompt service. We ordered a couple flatbread, Margarita and fig and prosciutto for our table of 3 to share along with a local brew from Ragged Island Brewery (Portsmouth, RI) The view can't be beat right on the water by the East Bay bike path and there was ample parking unlike some other Bristol restaurant options. I've never experienced worse service at any restaurant or bar. A bartender, Juliette, was clearly unexperienced, claiming that my driver's license is not real. To prove this to me, she snapped it in half while examining it. When confronted about the issue, she was incredibly rude and did not apologize. For what it is worth, while I was waiting to speak with her, people got up and left because of the slow service at the bar. I am not upset about being refused a drink; I am upset that the bartender resorted to permanently ruining my driver's license because she could not properly identify my valid ID. I now cannot use it anywhere else and have to order and pay for a new one. Being a bar in a town with a college, I'd expect the bartender is able to identify out of state IDs and at least own up to making a mistake and treat customers better. read more

Living in Bristol is a treat when it comes to finding places to eat. There are many and surprisingly there aren't many disappointments. The Beach House is by far my favorite restaurant on the water and has become my go to this summer. Set your reservation on OpenTable show up and bam seated. The waitstaff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the dishes. I had the beet salad this evening and it always hits the spot. For my entree I had the cavatappi primavera with grilled chicken and IT IS .... AMAZE-BALLS.! I have also tried the gnocchi and steak dish that's a keeper for sure on the menu. Come here try everything! Even the drinks are delicious. I am planning to dine here from now on since I live 2 blocks away! Yay me! Parking lot is a good size and right there at the restaurants door. Be mindful that the turn in for the parking lot comes up quickly so slow down as you approach the address. read more

Eric, the manager, sat with me to plan it about 2 months ago when I was in a bind because another establishment where I was going to host it closed its doors without notice. Eric was able to accommodate my request of having breakfast - even though they no longer serve breakfast, stay within my budget and was very responsive with my 100 e-mails leading up to the big day. The room was gorgeous and the food was fabulous! Every single guest came up telling me how great everything was and how big the portions are. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. First the good... the location of The Beach House is awesome! My husband and I had a table right by the water, overlooking the bike path. It was a great spot to "people watch". My husband really enjoyed his food. He had the crab cakes for an appetizer and he had the Spicy Ahi Tuna Burrito for his meal. He enjoyed them both. Next the "ok". The service started out excellent but it took over 45 minutes to get our meals. And it wasn't even that busy! Now for the bad.... I ordered the Classic Cheeseburger medium rare. It was WAYYYY overcooked! It was to the point that I didn't even eat 1/2 of it (picture attached). The server never came to ask how our food was, so I didn't even get a chance to show her how overcooked it was. We ordered a pitcher of red sangria which although it tasted ok, it was RIDICULOUSLY priced at $38 and had no alcohol in it. I had two full glasses and couldn't even feel it. (Two weeks ago we got a pitcher of sangria at another waterfront restaurant and I had a buzz after 1/2 a glass. And the price was only $24!!) Finally, the bathrooms. They were DISGUSTING! My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary at a nice restaurant, so we made a reservation at the Beach House on the water in Bristol. It's a little pricey, but for a celebration we were okay with that. I have never been so disappointed at a restaurant in my life. I ordered a glass of Sangria, which was weak and had no fruit in it! The meal took well over an hour to arrive. They offered no bread or rolls and the salad came on the plate with the meal so we had nothing to tide us over. Luckily my delightful dinner partner kept me entertained keeping my mind off of my grumbling tummy. I ordered Swordfish, it was terrible, obviously not fresh, and overcooked. When the waitress asked us how our food was, I told her mine was overcooked and she asked if I wanted another one. I have NEVER sent food back, but at these prices I said yes. However the replacement wasn't much better. Needless to say we did not stay for dessert and coffee! Our bill was over $100! "Waterfront dining at its finest" I think not! read more

My husband and I made reservations towards the later part of the evening. My guess is we took the last reservation for 9:15pm. While we fully understand that many restaurants are still finding their bearings with the COVID restrictions we were a bit bummed with our experience here. We've eaten out a couple of times since outdoor and indoor seating has been allowed and have had pretty good experiences. Sadly the Beach House fell short in a few areas. First the good... Upon meeting the hostess of course wearing our masks, as was the hostess...we requested to sit at the outdoor bar that looked pretty open. Luckily our request was met. It was a nice evening so we wanted to enjoy the fresh air. Our waitress greeted us shortly after being sat and asked what we'd like to drink. As always I ordered a Mimosa and Hubby a Sams Summer. Our drinks arrived about 7-10 minutes after ordering. By then of course we knew what we wanted to order. Being our first time here we wanted to try a few apps to go along with our entrees. We ordered the octopus, clam chowder, and cauliflower bites. The octopus was burnt, extremely dry and chewy. The clam chowder and cauliflower were ok. It took about 10 minutes for our apps to come out. For entrees we ordered the surf and turf burger and a seafood pasta dish. We must've sat and waited for our entrees for a good 30 minutes. Our guess was that the staff had already begun to shut down the kitchen? Sadly the seafood again was extremely chewy with a rubbery texture. The burger was completely ruined as they burned it to a crisp! With having such a beautiful waterfront location you'd think they'd take full advantage and make the experience for their guests an unforgettable one (in a good way). Sadly, we won't be back. We did mention to our waitress that the food wasn't great as I'm sure she could see by the amount of food left on all of the plates. She apologized which we appreciated but that's as far as it went. Lobster and Scallops in one roll tastes even better than it sounds Two of my favorite seafood in one dish was amazing! I loved the aioli with the seafood and the crunch of the roll. What a nice find! A place actually on the water that serves good food and drinks!:') Sat outside on Friday evening with reservations for 4, servers busy but very pleasant. Beers and martinis for the table were quite tasty. Calamari starter with good mix of julienne carrots, mung sprouts and blend of clalamari and peppers...tasty! Fish and chips was a pleasant surprise , not greasy , crisp outer layer with fresh and large cod which tasted as if caught that day!! Fries were lame, not crispy , not salted or flavored. Tartar passable but nothing special. Cole slaw had the beginnings of something great but small portion and a tad too much liquid. Wife had the chicken salad and devoured it. Same for our friends who had the salmon and the steak which everyone enjoyed. Perfect way to end the week and enjoy a nice walk along the water after the meal. We dined at The Beach House for the first time last night and likely won't be coming back. While the view is amazing and they have a great outdoor space and friendly and good servers, the food is completely underwhelming. We started with an order of Buffalo wings (the sauce choice was perfect the waitress's rec) and the hummus. We received Parmesan wings, though were eventually brought the correct Buffalo ones after our entrees arrived, and what was clearly store bought hummus with 6 dried out baby carrots, 4 small pieces of celery, 3 cherry tomatoes that were old and had been cooked (why I don't know?) and some store bought mini naan. I ordered the Thai crunch salad, again at the recommendation of our waitress, and received what was essentially a bag of coleslaw mix with a pound of matchstick carrots and some peanuts on top. I don't think I ate more than half of it as it was lacking flavor and all around blah. One of my dining companions ordered the same salad with salmon and my husband ordered the blackened salmon entree. Both were happy with their salmon but neither felt it was anything noteworthy. Honestly, the best part of our meal was the wings. If we ever came back it would be to enjoy the view over drinks and maybe some wings. I'm very torn while writing this review because the food was excellent... and the service did turn around a bit by the end... but the overall experience left us wanting more for our money. We ultimately decided it would be a great place for a couple sunset drinks w a couple fun appetizers and then go somewhere else, or home, for a real 'sit down and have a nice special dinner' experience. Our food was awesome - the first and chips were on point, and the fish fillet was as big as his forearm! My mushroom ravioli was indulgent and incredible, but the blue crab fritters left much crab to be desired and the fries needed more flavor and crunch. Where this restaurant lacked was atmosphere. There really wasn't a clear theme, or consistent service. There were sports TVs over the bar, intimate candles on the tables with flowers and low lighting in the rest of the dining room with the blaring TVs just a table away, and the downstairs looked like a center page from a Pier 1 magazine. Don't get me wrong, this place was beautiful and we were enthralled as soon as we walked in. But as soon as we sat down we were just kind of confused. As were a few other parties we saw walking in dressed like us and clearly trying to have a nice little night out. But at least was nice to know we weren't alone! I will absolutely give credit where it's due though, in that they did make good on my boyfriend's request to do something special for our anniversary. We got a very delicious slice of cheesecake with chocolate and caramel sauce. But with a side of forced 'congrats' from a generally absent server. And while I HATE to have to criticize service right now, I have to keep it honest and I don't like being made to feel like a bother by needing a refill on water or asking for an honest opinion between the two dishes we're deciding between. If they had made mention they were understaffed so we may see less of our server that would have made all the difference, but that wasn't the case and even the manager was very disengaged when we asked for the check. Like is said, the whole experience was confusing and not what we expected. But we'd go back for drinks on their bay-facing patio at sunset before our dinner somewhere down the road. :) read more

Ms Chaylee was such professional and very proactive that I really enjoyed my dinner and just because of such professionalism I will return tomorrow again to your restaurant. Been here a bunch of times. Great location for outdoor dining and drinks in the summer. It's right on the water with a spectacular sunset view across the harbor. Food is good and consistent. Wait staff is friendly. Prices are a bit high, but it is Bristol. They have live music regularly, but frankly I've been unimpressed with the musicians. I play guitar so maybe I'm picky. Parking is easy. Menu is a little unusual in my opinion and could use some other options, especially the old stand by burgers, steak, and seafood options. Last time I was a bit annoyed that the kid at the outside bar giving out free shots of some new beer snubbed us multiple times and focused on giving the samples to younger people. Not cool. Anyway, it's worth visiting, just expect to feel like you want more options after visiting a few times. And bring your wallet. read more

The food was OK. The service was horrific our server never clean the table and we were left visiting over dirty plates for an hour. The place was not busy so I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to get us to leave the table. For apps we had Mediocre chicken wings, mussels and, aguachili shrimp, and this was the first time I ever had shrimp that was gray and tasted fishy. If this how this dish is supposed to be, they should just remove it from the menu it's not good. If this is not how it's supposed to be, then it shouldn't have been served. We got calamari as a Main and it was sticky and drowned in chili sauce. It would've been much better without the sauce or the sauce on the side. Tequila seafood pasta was tasty as was paella. We ordered a burger to replace the calamari and another person asked for cheese to add to their burger. 20 minutes later when the server came back we inquired about the cheese again. She said she was waiting for the other burger to come out of the kitchen. So the person who was eating a burger originally and just wanted to add cheese now had a cold burger. This was after that same burger had to have a bun replaced because it was burned to a crisp and still delivered to the table like that. We didn't complain because we were paying. This will be a mixed review depending on the dishes served. I went there last night with my family for dinner. I liked the Calamari but it was quite oily. There wasn't a lot of breading which was also good. My wife had a lobster/scallops roll which she says was the best she ever had. I had a seafood/pasta dish which I loved. My youngest daughter had steak and gnocchi which she liked. My oldest daughter had fish tacos which she sent back to the kitchen and re-ordered pulled pork tacos. She still didn't like it. My mom-in-law had fried clam strips and she didn't like them either. She also stated her sangria was weak (as another yelper stated). They had a very good draft beer menu and the view from the back deck was excellent. Overall, a solid 3 rating. I wouldn't necessarily go back. There are better choices in the area. read more

This was my first time at The Beach House. It was a calm Saturday night and it wasn't too busy. I came for a nice peaceful dinner by myself. I enjoyed a very tasty blood orange margarita and a lobster bisque to start, which was packed with lobster meat! For dinner I ordered the lobster and scallop roll pictured in the review. The picture speaks for itself, the roll was very well put together and the sweet potato fries were on point. The scenery was great and the staff was even better! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I've read through all the bad reviews on this place and I can honestly say I'm not sure why they disliked the place or food so much. My husband and I had our very small (16 people) wedding reception here on 10/23/20 and it was more than we could have ever asked for. We found this place during a google search for waterfront restaurants, and were so glad we did. The first time we walked in we knew it was the place. The bar has an awesome beachy feel to it. They have a large outdoor patio with heaters, overlooking the water (like literally 15 ft away) and a cute deck as well. Inside seating is smaller but they have a private dining room that has a rustic feel - perfect for small gatherings. Now for the food. The first time we went to check the place out, we stayed for lunch. Ordered clam chowder, a Cobb salad and fish tacos. Clam chowder is fantastic, and they garnish it with a couple fried clam strips (bonus!) . Cobb salad should have been in a bowl and not on a plate, but the salad itself was good. My husband loved his fish tacos. Fast forward to two weeks before our wedding and I'm sitting here looking at the terrible reviews. I start to panic and decide we need to go back here for dinner to actually eat/sample the food that our guests will be ordering. So we head back and we order pasta primavera, Peruvian half chicken with mashed and seasonal veggie which ended up being Brussels sprouts, Thai chili wings, RI calamari, and clam chowder (again). Pasta could have fed 3 people the portion was so big. Needed a little extra seasoning but it was pretty good. Peruvian chicken was slightly overcooked but flavor was good. Mashed potatoes were great. Brussels were excellent - so good in fact that we requested they be the seasonal veggie available on our wedding day. Calamari tasted fresh and was very good. Wings were also fantastic. Crispy with just the right amount of sauce on them. Overall we've now had 2 great experiences with food. And a week later when we got married, everyone I asked (because I was still worried from the reviews) said their food was great. Not a single person had a complaint. They ordered everything from steaks, scallops, flat bread pizzas, burgers, and more. Only thing I wasn't satisfied with was the nachos. Should have been spread out a little more on the plate and the toppings could have been a little more generous. Service - excellent. Eric, the manager, was amazing. He was attentive and willing to work with us on whatever we wanted/needed. He even waited on us when we went for dinner before our wedding. Food came out quickly and was still hot. Service the night of our wedding was even better if you could imagine that. We had one dedicated waitress, which I thought was going to go horribly, but I was 100% wrong. Erin was a pro. She didn't forget to bring out a single item. She took everyone's orders quickly and came back if they weren't sure. She brought out food as it became available so that no ones dish got cold waiting. She was on top of all the drink orders and by the time you were finishing your drink, she was ready there with another. No one had to wait for anything. Everyone loved her. She was sweet and friendly and joked with people the whole time. The only thing that I will agree with on some of the bad reviews is that the bathrooms need updating. They don't match the quality of the rest of the restaurant. But if that's the only thing that someone has to complain about then they need to recheck themselves. The place does not deserve a bad review because you didn't like the bathroom. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone, for anything. read more
