This is such a great local bbq place! Went for lunch and sat outside- plenty of seating and parking but be sure to get there right when they open though, as parking and tables fill up incredibly fast! Order at the counter and then they bring it to your table. They have great food options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. I got the bearded poutine appetizer as my lunch which is very possibly my favorite poutine ever (they also have a sandwich version of this). Also tried the mango 'nojito' mocktail - absolutely delicious! Definitely a great spot for families, or just hanging out with friends. read more

Came here for dinner with friends while visiting the area. They have a private lot with plenty of spaces to park. Once you go in, you'll get in line to order then find your own table to sit at. I think we got lucky as there was not a line when we got there. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with a bar that offer both as well. The ambiance at night is great. At each table, you can choose from 5 different sauces. My favorite was the Sweet Spot and The Drizz. My husband and I got the San Marco Platter, which consists of 1/4 Rack Ribs + 1/4 Chicken + 1/4 Lb Each Of 2 Meats + 2 Sides. We got the Brisket and Pulled Pork for the meats and Mac-N-Cheese and Sweet & Sour Beans for the sides. We also got an extra side of the Bearded Poutine. The brisket was by far the best of the meats. You're able to choose whether you want lean, fatty, or a combination when you order. The pulled pork was a close second. The ribs were tough to eat and did not fall off the bone and the chicken was honestly so dry. In terms of the sides, I'd go for the Sweet & Sour Beans and the Bearded Poutine. The Mac-N-Cheese was honestly a joke. The type of pasta they used just does not complement the cheese. The cheese pretty much sits on top. My husband even said that he prefers the boxed Mac & Cheese over this. I would probably go back here again, but would definitely stick to the brisket and pulled pork. read more

Update: I am writing this to address the owner's response, which is factually inaccurate. I was sitting at the end of the bar alone with AirPods in for the duration of my meal. I did not "jump on a bandwagon" or engage with other guests, nor did I tease the staff. I was there to eat in peace, which makes the bartender's unprovoked aggression toward me even more confusing. Furthermore, the owner's claim regarding my tip is false. I left a $0 tip due to the hostile service. The manager did not single me out to close my tab; he closed out every remaining guest at the bar simultaneously. While I agree that staff should not be harassed, it is unprofessional to treat every customer as a target for a bartender's personal frustrations. I stand by my original review: the management of this situation was handled poorly, and being accused of behavior I did not participate in only reinforces my decision not to return. I had a deeply uncomfortable experience at this establishment recently while sitting at the bar. While I was still eating, the bartender approached me and aggressively asked, "Are you ready to leave yet?" I was caught off guard and told her no, but the hostility did not stop there. When I later ordered another drink, she told me she would only serve me if I wasn't going to "talk shit" behind her back. She then poured the drink and stormed off without further explanation. The chaos continued when a customer across the bar stood up and began screaming at another patron near me, calling him a "shitty person" and telling him to "do better." Shortly after, the manager came out to close everyone's tabs immediately. There was no apology and no initial explanation for the sudden hostility or the rushed exit. When I finally confronted the manager, he seemed confused but mentioned that the bartender's girlfriend had claimed people were complaining about her. It is completely unacceptable for a staff member to bring personal drama to the floor and treat paying customers with such blatant disrespect based on hearsay. I was there to enjoy a meal and a drink, not to be interrogated or subjected to a hostile environment. I will not be returning. read more

I only had to drive 5 hours to Jacksonville to discover them, but it was well worth the long journey. We met some nice ppl at our hotel that recommended this spot so we had to try it. We have been searching high and low/tried every bbq place in soflo only to be disappointed each time. We tried the ribs, coleslaw, collard greens and the Mac n cheese. I'll start out by saying, The spare ribs were perfectly tender, dry rubbed and had a delicious crust. I could have done without the mediocre sides. I loved my experience at The Bearded Pig! If you can, I highly recommend visiting at an off time such as a Thursday or Friday at 2pm-3pm. It was very simple to place our order, grab drinks from the Coke Freestyle machine, and have our food delivered to our table. For the first experience, I tried a little of everything including brisket, pulled pork, and mac n cheese. Everything was excellent and I enjoyed that there was a wide variety of 4-5 BBQ sauces on every table to dip everything in. Can't wait to come back and try their homemade pimento cheese! I noticed multiple reviewers stating that the parking is tight. I had no issues, but I could totally see this becoming a problem if you visit during a busy weekend lunch hour. Excellent flavor and perfect light spices. Really enjoyable and I would eat it again. Turkey: Another best on the menu. Not brined or salty - or dry! Cooked only with salt, pepper and butter basted - a lot! The most moist turkey I've ever had at a BBQ place. Dripping moist - get it! Delicious. Brisket: (lean, fatty or mixed) The lean is incredibly moist - more than any other / not dry at all. Look close at photo & you will see it glistening! No smoke ring or char, but really nice. Baked beans: Butter beans, Lima beans, navy and kidney beans with sautéed onions. Good flavor and nice, but I'm Texan and regular baked beans are a staple. Ate 4-5 bites and did not take the rest home. Not my style but enjoyable. Pork Ribs: (beef available too but expensive!) Beautiful char and huge!! (About 10 inches each!) Very lean but are unfortunately bone dry and a bit pretty chewy for my liking (not tender fall off the bone like by friend Steve does them). Overall, not worth the drive unless you are close by chance. Only get the turkey, sausage or lean brisket. Good luck! (And no it was not the A/C.... The bar window and patio doors were all open. My original review was on the old location, but you can read it below this update to the new location. It is not really new, I just have not been to this location before. It is very close to the original location but this one has BETTER PARKING. Each location has inside and outside locations, most of the time I prefer to eat outside. Counter service restaurant but service is strong so if you need something, raise your hand and someone will come by to help you. They are committed to customer service. But you really want to know about the food, don't you? (Good barbecue always starts with the sauce) Pepper Vinegar - on the table for the collard greens, but works on fries too. Trust me. Ghost Pepper Sauce - does not bowl you over with heat, but has a wonderful subtle flavor. Trust me, you want to try it. Sweet Spot - normally this is my sauce, and they do it well, but it is not the star in my opinion. Drizz - to me, this is the star of the show. Mustard based, with a sweet tang that is quite pleasant and perks up your taste buds. Salad - green, fresh but eat only as a means to clean the way for more BBQ. Beans - five beans soaked in Drizz sauce with pickled onions, I think they are FANTASTIC, but if you love traditional bank beans in heavy sauce, it is quite different. Baked Potato - baked and covered in your choice of meat and one side. (I suggest you get the sour cream and cheese on the side as it gets messy.) The Kings Sandwich - piled high, hard to eat without getting messy, but sometimes messy is good. Brisket - here is the one dish that put them on the map. Brisket lean or brisket fatty, your choice but the flavor is incredible. Love this location, nicer than the original but still has the soul of who they were when they were starting out. I really did not think I would like this upgrade as I have seen multiple restaurants expand and lose what made them special. Not here, same good food, same great service. read more

This may be the best BBQ in Jax, but I will say that IDK, I've had better BBQ than this. I give the Pig a couple of points for a beautiful and spacious restaurant, more points for having a nice watering hole and interesting drinks, also really good service and nice people all around. But when it comes to the food... this is what I think: I will admit that there is a lot of smoke coming off that meat, and that the portions are really big, but at the same time it is not at the top of the BBQ ladder. It is good, don't get me wrong, yet some people, those who told me to skip the Pig, they will not agree with that statement. This was my experience: I found the chicken, the wings and the ribs to have the same rub. They all had a nice smoky smell and flavor, the ribs being out there with strong smokiness. On the other hand, the meat was a bit tough, the chicken a bit dry, the rub a bit generic. BUT, and here's a big but, the amount of food is really good, so for $30 you will be full twice, meaning you will enjoy your dinner at the restaurant, and then you will enjoy leftovers... and smoking is actually a way to preserve meats. read more

The place was very crowded for a Thursday morning at 11:30am, which was impressive. We were able to sit at the bar and get going pretty quickly. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. I generally don't ever "crave" BBQ, but I can definitely see myself craving this pulled pork sandwich. It was flavorful and not dry at all. The mac-n-cheese, however, I really wasn't impressed by. I think the penne pasta is doing the mac-n-cheese a disservice, honestly. It is probably on the lower end of the spectrum of all mac-n-cheese's I've ever had.
