We were very pleasantly surprised at how good The Beerhouse was, food & service. We took my parents on Mother's Day for that and their 35th wedding anniversary. They didn't have any clue what we had in store for them and we didn't either to be honest. We figured we would eat and hand them both $20 to gamble, short and sweet-that's now what happened, thankfully! We let them chose which restaurant they wanted to eat at inside River City Casino. After viewing all the menus they chose The Beerhouse; partially because it was one of the less expensive of the choices (even tho they could have chosen whatever they wanted). I was a bit hesitant as there wasn't a large selection of food on the menu. We waited about 10mins to be seated and we were seated inside at a high top table for four by the bar, right next to the TV's for the Cardinals game for my mom. The atmosphere is awesome. The whole place inside has amazing woodwork and beer steins hanging all over. We were really happy we got to sit inside rather than "on the patio" in the Casio walkway. The waitress was prompt and very nice. She explained specials, the beer selection (which was huge) and they had a good selection of liquor (top shelf and rail). We started off with an Angry Orchard for hubs and I, Sam Adams for dad and margarita for mom. She gave us a good amount of time to decide on food. I had the pork steak, baked potato & baked beans. Hubs had the fried fish sandwich & fries, dad had pastrami & fries and mom had roast beef & fries. It was all delicious. We all snarfed and was very happy it was so good. Afterwards we were presented with the dessert menu, while we didn't have any room, we ordered anyway. Mom & pop went out for a break and hubs & I were served dessert. We anxiously waited for their return because the desserts looked amazing! We ordered the Warm Gooey Butter Cake & Cheesecake Brownie for the four of us to share. Both were very good, but the St. Louis favorite of Gooey Butter got pushed to the side for the most part. The brownie was not just a brownie, it was heaven!!! It was a brownie layer on bottom, cheesecake in the middle, chocolate mousse on top with whip cream and chocolate shavings. So rich, but sooooo good!!!! We left stuffed 1.5 hours later. Our tab was $70 and we left her a $30 tip and parents left her $20 cash because she was so attentive. We almost were too full to gamble, but we got a win in! ;) We will go back and we would recommend this place to anyone wanting to hang out at the casino afterwards. read more

Tonight, 6/18/21, about 615, my spouse and I took a table to review the limited menu before placing our order. While doing so a trio began to play loudly. Poor acoustics. We decided to order to go and move to a distant room where we could talk and hear each other. We waited about 20 minutes when the waitress, Susan approached asking us to pay, $52.63 which was done. She brought the change and did not offer a receipt despite being asked. After, maybe 10 additional minutes, we asked for a refund. My spouse asked a shorter waitress for a refund indicating to her we had no receipt because we were not given one. She then apparently found the food sitting on a table. She didn't ask for a receipt but offered the food! Too late! The manager/host now got involved. A cook approached, getting involved, telling my spouse to take the food and putting his hand on my spouse's shoulder. Now, a female floor manager arrives with 4 security staff. After added conversation, a refund of $53 was received. Interestingly enough, a nice lady, also waiting for a to go order relayed her witnessing a belligerent, disruptive, cursing, white man asking for and receiving a refund without security's intervention. The floor manager did apologize and asked us to leave for the remainder of the night. I will not return to River City nor patronize and of their associated businesses in the future. read more

Ordered a cheese dip appetizer that took almost 45 minutes to get - nevermind that we ordered the dip and she ordered us soup (even though we talked to her about chips!) after that we ordered tater tots and fish tacos - at least another half hour - not to mention I drank my whole 22oz beer slowly and was still out for about 15-20 minutes before the next one came - after our food finally showed up - Oh - cheese dip was crap - no onions or anything - just cheese sauce and cold chips Fish tacos mediocre - the piece of fish in the tacos was big but the tacos nothing special Tots whatever - by this time I'm past wanting food and even beer doesn't help. I'm not gonna lie, I fully expected the food to be mediocre. I went to check the place and casino out and just have a beer. I ended up ordering food and was proven wrong. The fish tacos and garlic potatoes were actually great. I think that's the most fish about anyone has ever put on tacos and the tacos themselves were a good size. Customer service has plummeted. St Patrick's Day evening we, along with 6 other couples waiting on a hostess or someone to come to the hostess, acknowledge us from the dining area, anything. Nope. Several servers looked at us as the walked by but proceeded to ignore us completely. After 10 minutes of waiting, one of the employees that had ignored us walked down and asked about party size for each of us. No apology, no nothing. By the way, there will be at least a 15 minute wait now that I've acknowledged you. No thanjs, we will pass. Others standing decided to wait it out. Our experience was very positive on a friday nite at 6:30ish. My beef on weck was $12 and awesome...altho i wiped off salt on bun. Aujus tasty and beef piled hi. Husband had philly cheesesteak for $13. Heavy on meat. Light on peppers and onions. He thought it was good but will try something else next time. Tater tots and fries were delicious. 1904 is another establishment that has an awesome beer selection, however their service and menu are not impressive. They have a large assortment of beers both on tap and in bottles. I recommend trying the house brew (1904 American Red), it's delicious! They serve their 22 and 48oz. beers in a huge ceramic mug that keeps that beer nice and icy! Love it! The house burger was alright. I did not see a lot on the menu that interested me. The place just looks awesome overall. Old beer steins hanging on the walls and a GIANT bar. The service however is their downfall as it took quite a while to get a table for 8 even though we could blatantly see our table empty and waiting for us. One of the individuals in our party actually received cold food - bbq ribs to be exact. The food/service seemed to take forever, and it wasn't what I would consider very busy at all. The quality of the food was....meh - not as great as the price would insinuate. The staff was friendly and can't put all of the blame on them as far as poor service goes. There were a handful of them bringing us this, that, and the other so perhaps there was confusion on who is responsible for what. Who knows? For those wanting something more than a burger, but not quite a buffet, or a steakhouse this is the perfect option. Seating inside is limited to the "inside" which is an elevated portion located near the bar or "outside" along the interior casino walkway. Ew. No. NO. 1904 Beerhouse is located inside of River City Casino. They have a pretty wide variety of food. So obviously you know I don't like this place, since I gave it one star. But because I'm trying to be at least a LITTLE bit nice, I'll start with the positives. The place is beautifully decorated. There's a definite German theme. Even the waitresses are dressed like barmaids. It's actually kind of cool. Our waitress was very sweet. She explained everything on the menu to us to the best of her ability, and she even brought us samples of beer that we weren't sure about. Another plus? They have a LOT of beers on tap. The day I went, they had about thirty beers on tap. So that's pretty awesome. Okay, enough of the positives. Lets get down to business. Since they were out of the Kobe Beef Corn Dogs (at noon?!?! Oookay...) we started out with the Crispy Dungeness Crab Fritters. It was like a beer battered crab cake. It was pretty tasty, and the chipotle tartar sauce that came with it was alright. The side of cole slaw was DISGUSTING, though. It was vinegar based, which I usually like, but something tasted way off about it. It was really sour. For the main entree, I settled with the Big and Cheesy Chicken Sandwich. The menu described it as 'crispy thigh chicken, sweet and spicy onions, extra sharp cheddar cheese, St. Louis style BBQ sauce on an onion roll'. Pretty tasty, right? Well, it sounded appetizing to me. Well, it came out, and it was TERRIBLE. First of all, there were way too many slimy onions on the sandwich. I removed those immediately. What was left was a rectangular block of fried chicken on a bun. Hmm. 'Where's my cheese?', I wondered. I bit into the sandwich, and quickly figured out that the cheese was STUFFED into the chicken. It was the most disgusting thing I've bitten into in quite some time. The cheese just oozed out. And there was way too much of it. Oh, and is 'St. Louis style BBQ sauce' really ketchup? Because that's what it tasted like. Ugh. I could only suffer through two bites of the sandwich before I decided I had had enough. The fries were laughable. They looked like McDonald's fries, and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. Not hot, not crispy, just blah. My mom ordered the pizza, and it was not bad. It tasted like the kind you can get frozen from the grocery store, but whatever. She seemed to like it okay. My sister ordered the basket of fried chicken, which might have been palatable had it not come with three pieces of thigh meat. Maybe something like that should have been mentioned in the menu. She sent that back and went with the ribs, which were decent. Would I come back here? No. Not in a million years. Cheap eats, good beer, and best of all, beer dinners on Sundays once a month. I've been here three or four times, and enjoyed each. They've got a large beer list - even a seasoned beer nerd like me can find something I want (though don't go searching for anything truly rare or interesting). Paired with that, they've got excellent, reasonably priced foods that are way more than one meal. Best of all, though, are the Sunday night beer dinners. For $35, you get 5 courses, 6-7 full bottles of beer, and some excellent food. I've had everything from ribeye steaks to bread pudding, and it's one of the best values around. Heck, the beers alone would cost almost $30 if bought separately. Yays: - Cheap food. A brat with a side for $5.50? Yes please. - 30+ draft beers, and 50+ bottles. They've always got at least a few locals on tap too. - 16, 22, and 48 oz beer selections. The 48 oz ones are like $10, which is an excellent value if you want to get hammered. - Some of the waitresses are rather attractive in their outfits... - Beer dinners Nays: - Would prefer a wider variety beer selection with more micros and less generic imports - Busy! Stay away from the Beerhouse. We haven't been in awhile so we decided to stop in to eat. The menu is nothing like it used to be. Maybe half. Very limited. No more beef on weck. No more Irish nachos. It's a bare bones menu. As far as the food, I would recommend eating elsewhere. The pretzels came out cold like they were just taken out of a bag and put on a plate. The chicken wings are way overpriced. Some what tasty but I would ask why you would serve them with a pre packaged bag of blue cheese and a prepackaged cup of ranch. You can't even service these in a dish? This isn't a corner hole in the wall bar. This place isn't as good as it once was. I had the beerhouse burger. Sounded great. The actual burger, not so much. I'm pretty sure they forgot the beer house cheese and the burger seemed like it was a pre made Patty. There is nothing special about this place anymore. Eat elsewhere. Now just called The Beerhouse. Beer selection - GREAT. I did a sampler which gave me 4-3oz samples of draft beer - my choice. Same price as one 12 oz beer - fun to do !! Ordered the Betrunken Chicken which is sauteed chicken breast with beer-braised onions and mushrooms over a barley pilaf and amber woodchuck sauce. Ordered a side of broccoli which was steamed to perfection. EXCELLENT !! Did not see waitresses dressed in German attire (thank goodness). We were there on a Friday night and it was a manageable crowd. Main drawback was too much NOISE. Had to listen to loud speaker announce winners of some contest held down in the Casino. If I cared, I would be in the Casino. After the contest, they put the Sports Channel on the loud speaker. I had to yell across the table to my friends - Did not see anyone watching AND listening to what was on the TV. ANNOYING. Told the manager, but nothing changed. read more

I have been here on a number of occasions when gambling at the casino. Typically, I just sit at the bar, order a few beers and have a meal while watching sports. On the plus side, the bar has a ton of TVs that are always playing several different games. It's a great place to sit and catch a game. Additionally, the bar has an extensive beer menu, so if you like to experiment, it's great. Finally, the menu has a variety of items, a little unique, and truthfully, I've not had a bad meal there. The downside is the service. The last two times I've been there, the bartenders have been terrible. Two times ago, the bartender berated me about my beer selection, telling me how poor a beer it was and how boring I was for selecting it. Last time I checked, I was paying the bill, so I'm pretty sure I can order what I like. He really didn't want to let it go and was condescending to me from that point on. We left no tip. I went again last night, and there was only one bartender working the entire bar. It took forever to get service and when she did come by, she seemed annoyed that she had to even wait on us. I really want to like this place because it's convenient, I like the atmosphere and the food, but the service is very underwhelming. I think a few folks need an attitude adjustment. read more

When RC Casino was built a few years ago, we started going for the live music that they have in Judy's Velvet Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights. We finally stopped and had dinner at the Beerhouse and it is a pretty decent place on our list of places we enjoy going on a regular basis now. Their menu isn't huge but there's something for everyone's taste buds. If you're a beer drinker, you will be in beer heaven as they have a ton to choose from. They can also satisfy the mix drinker's heart as well - just tell them what you like and they'll get it to you. You can make a reservation via OpenTable if its before 6pm so we did that just in case and were seated immediately. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and came and talked to us about everything down to the game on the tv. We ordered the pretzels with beer cheese as an appetizer and boy was it bigger than I expected. Enough for sharing with the group you're with but so good to eat them all yourself! I then opted for chicken fingers and fries while my husband got the beerhouse burger. Both came with an overload of fries and were delicious and served in a timely manner. The food here is probably a 3, but the beer selection and price is a overwhelming 5. $8 for a 48 ounce beer, that's a steal, and especially in a casino location is a really great deal. While the menu didn't speak to me with things like burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and a couple apps, I order a chicken salad, which was good enough to eat the whole thing, but nothing to write home about. Their house beer the 1904 american red was delicious, and in a 48 ounce mug was even better. Their beer selection is wide and vast, and unlike a lot of other beer houses they still served all of the popular beers that appeal to most people with bud light, pabst, and bud select on menu. We went with a group of about 10 people and had a relatively positive experience. Our service was ok, the price tag was great, the atmosphere was good, and beer was delicious. New menu. Ordered the STEAK FRITES. The steak was excellent. The parmesan fries that come with it are loaded were herb butter which made them heavy and a little soggy. Not my favorite and if I had another chance would get the loaded baked potato instead. You're also suppose to get bacon wrapped green beans but it came with apasagus, which was good. I also ordered a side Caesar salad. It was big and delicious. Enough for a small meal! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and service which adds a star to make it four. The beer selection does change on some frequency but they do not update their draft menus when they do. On my most recent visit I pointed out about 5 beers that were at the bar but not on the menu. If you are going to be called "Beer house", I suggest you update accordingly because your wait staff doesn't seem to know which beers are new or not and didn't care to bring me a list of updated taps. Service is hit or miss, I've been helped by very friendly and attentive staff, and have had service that stops once food plates get to the table. The food I had at 1904 Beerhouse was AMAZING! Perfect salty, greasy food to go with your beer, but it actually tasted great. The prices were fabulous too. Warning: the sandwiches are enormous! None of us finished ours and we are big eaters. They have an excellent selection of draft and bottled beers- over 100 varieties total. They serve draft beer in large stone steins that were so great we bought some at the gift store. Saturday evening they had live music that was awesome. Just a guy playing acoustic, but he was really really good. The decor is also great- like an oversized bavarian beer haus. My two gripes: The servers' outfits are ridiculous, masogonystic, and unflattering. There appears to always be a wait. I have sat with several of the wait staff and by far I have always had the best experience with Claudia and Ninel. Claudia knows what her regulars are going to get before they even sit down. She is always running around trying to help everyone there from what I can tell. She is very knowledgeable about the menu and drink selections. I did complain about my chicken breast and she took care of it right away!! If you just give The Beerhouse another chance ask for her or Ninel. They are always so kind. Or if you would like to read the negative part the bar is not always open to sit at ..which happens to make wait times alittle longer. I've been to the beer house probably 30 times since it has been open...so you would think why would I go back if I am only rating it a 3 star? The more I go to the 1904 Beerhouse, the worse it is getting. The first few months the place had some growing pains of opening, but they got things together and it was an outstanding place to go. They have tried many different things to find their "identity" including beer pong tournaments on Wednesday (which they have since stopped doing) and even allowed a dart league to show up one night a week (also stopped). The reality of the situation is the bar is going down hill quick. In my opinion, what the bar is missing is it's own micro brew. For a place called "1904 Beerhouse" you would think they would make their own beer. I picture they should should be like the beer version of Fitz's -The service is getting worse and generally is OK at best. Very seldom have I had great service, even when there are only a few patrons at the bar. The last two times I ate there, it took an extremely long time to get our food after ordering and the first time the manager noticed without us having to say anything and comped the food. You would think that would be a positive, which it was, but the manager has since left and no longer works there. It seems that each time I find a waitress, manager, or bartender that is good at their job, kind, and nice, I find out they no longer work there. -I have found many of the bartenders are arrogant and rude. -Most of the food, as written by other yelpers, is OK, but nothing to get excited about. You don't got to the Beerhouse for the food, you go for the beer! -The new managers seem to be a bit clueless -Ice cold glasses are nice with your beer, but during any time the bar begins to fill up, they run out of glasses quick. At busy times you are happy to just get a clean glass but don't bet on it being cold. -There is a decent selection of food, but as a bar, it seems to be missing some bar staples like nachos...and some things are just strange, like deviled eggs. There ARE some good things though. -100 different types of beer in bottles, plus more on tap. -Tap prices are generally very reasonable -The house beer (called "1904") is made by Anheuser Busch from the 1904 world's fair recipe and it is AMAZING -The pretzel sticks appetizer is also amazing! *UPDATE* - The last time I was there, they changed the recipe and changed up the cheeses that come with the pretzels. The great spicy horseradish cheese was removed and now the pretzels are only good...no longer great. Generally if you hit the peak dinner time during the week there will be a short wait for a seat. Hit the peak dinner time on a Friday or Saturday and expect a 30-60 minute wait for a table for two. It is very rare to endure a wait for a table any other time. If you are going to the casino and want a drink, I would suggest having a fun new beer at the 1904 Beerhouse as the bartenders (although rude) tend to be be (or at least pretend to be) very knowledgable about the beers. If you aren't there for a beer and want to eat, then I would highly recommend going to the north end of the casino and eating at the buffet! Then we had the double stack burger which comes with Velveeta cheese, caramelized mushrooms and onions. It was served on a nice tasty fresh bun. The sandwich was delicious. The food and service were great! The atmosphere is cold but overall it was a pleasant experience.

We came here for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the food. My French onion soup was exactly what you'd expect (and want) - a big crouton, lots (but not too much) melted cheese, and a tasty dark brown broth with lots of onions. And it was piping hot. The serving size of it and of my buddy's beer cheese soup was large; it's not a cup of soup by any means. I chose the braised beef with red cabbage and spaetzle, and it all was delicious (though I wasn't sure if the spaetzle was made in the kitchen there or pre-packaged). Our service was prompt and friendly. I really like the space, part German brewhouse, part sports bar. The big negatives for the place are that it is noisy and that the smoke odor from the casino down the hall still manages to enter the place. read more

Some friends asked if we wanted to go to the Casino and have some dinner while we were there. We had never been to this Casino, so we didn't know what to expect. It was a Saturday night on a really warm end of Feb night, so the parking lot was packed - we had to circle around a couple of times to find a spot. Which led to an hour wait for a table at the restaurant. My friend talked to the hostess - but I think they gave him a pager, so we went into the Casino and had a couple of drinks at a bar while we were waiting. Once we got seated, service was quick and attentive. We ordered some pretzel sticks with cheese dip as an appetizer. No one at the table had any utensils when they came, so we reached over to another table and grabbed a set. The pretzels themselves were nice and warm and soft and had a great flavor, and the cheese was good as opposed to that flavorless yellow goop you get at some places. My only complaint was I'm guessing they rolled the pretzel sticks in butter or some kind of coating to get the salt to stick which made a coating on the pretzel sticks that you could actually feel. If they could find a way to correct that, they would have gone from pretty good to really awesome. As we were looking to decide what to get for dinner, my partner got pretty excited to tell me they had "Beef on Weck" on the menu. I was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York - and in that part of New York state, a lot of restaurants have Beef on Weck. It's basically a beef French dip sandwich, which is usually fresh cooked thinly sliced roast beef, topped with horseradish on a "kummelweck" roll. What makes a Beef on Weck the "on Weck" part is the roll - a large round roll topped with large kosher salt crystals and caraway seeds. Whenever anyone who is not from around that area hears you talk about a Beef on Weck - no one knows what you are talking about. I've NEVER seen one on a menu outside of around home - so I got one. When dinner came out - no one still had any utensils (even though I mention this twice - I consider this a very minor thing. Service was really good. Once we asked for some, they brought them right over. I only even bother mentioning things like this because I have a fantasy that someone who works at the places I review actually reads these, might find the comments helpful, and might correct the minor mistakes to kick their place up a notch.) The Beef on Weck was really good. The only critique I have from personal experience is, they need to use real horseradish on it. Instead, they served some kind of white horseradish sauce with it - that was not good. Luckily I tasted it first, and didn't even put it on my sandwich. Without the horseradish, it made me feel like sandwich was missing something. Real horseradish would have knocked it out of the park, and I would go back to eat here just for a Beef on Weck when I was in the mood for one. The sandwich was served with a choice of side - and I got a standard side salad. Those couple of small changes I mentioned would have easily changed this from a 3 to a 4 star rating. It was all solidly good - but not great. One of my friends had ordered a pizza and I had a square of it and it was good. Which from me is a compliment because I'm picky about pizza (it's that coming from New York thing again). All and all - if I was going to go to the casino and was going to eat there, I would definitely pick this place over the buffet (which I rated 1 star in another review). I'm not a huge fan of chain/corporate-run restaurants but this is ok for something of that ilk. We've eaten here a few times and it's not usually hard to get a table but the night of a recent comedy show, they were pretty busy and quoted us a 30-min wait for a two-top. We saw a couple open spots at the bar instead and got prompt service there. Word of advice: The Beerhouse offers a better selection of alcohol here than they will have inside the event venue. The Beerhouse staff will serve you in a plastic cup if you request it and that can be taken into the event. (Besides, the venue bars are cash-only!) read more

I was really pleased with the food here. I ordered chicken tikka. I don't know how authentic it was but it had a great curry sauce and was exactly what I was hoping for. Beer selection looked extensive but they didn't have the one beer husband wanted even though it was on the menu. We came back later for desert and had this 3 layered cake that was amazing. I heard there were over 100 beers, and 32 beers on tap. Gotta try it right? I wouldn't go back. 1) The service was horrible! 2) Our food order was wrong, and it took too long! 3) They don't have the beer you want! Here's the story... We sat at the bar to order a beer and order some food. My first choice of draft beer was out, and my second and third, and fourth and fifth choice as well. Can't really advertise 32 beers on tap, when only 4 are working. I did get a draft pint of rolling rock for $2 though :) My boyfriend and I ordered our food from a female bartender, in the meantime, our friends arrived, and sat at the bar with us. They placed their food order from the same bartender about 10 minutes after we did. Their food came out, and we had to inquire about our order. The bartender shrugged her shoulders, and said "I guess I have to go yell at them". Our friends were done eating when our food finally came, and it was wrong. My boyfriend ordered a classic burger, and he got one with blue cheese. But we couldn't complain or inquire, because we NEVER saw the bartender again. She did not bring us silverware or napkins or ketchup or refill our drinks or ask how our food was. That's when we asked for a manager. read more

Best restaurant bar none in St. Louis! Don't let the fact that it's at a casino make you shy ti try it. In fact you can park in the back parking lot of River City and you don't even have to walk thru the gambling commotion. The entries and appetizers are generous portions, the prices are very reasonable (2 can be stuffed sharing a sandwich and entree for 25 $) Staff are over the top friendly:-D read more

Went to the Beer House in River City on a Saturday afternoon. Was not too hungry so I opted for an appetizer. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla. Do not order this appetizer. The chicken tasted like it was old and had been frozen for some time. The flavor was terrible. The jack cheese that was suppose to be on it was like a cream cheese jack and was runny instead of stringy like jack cheese should be. I ate one section and left the rest. Normally I get a hamburger and will stick to that. Onion Rings are to die for. Pizza is iffy, sometimes comes out burnt. Turkey Club is delicious too. read more
