Then we asked what time will our table be ready and they said "we have 2 more parties ahead of you" theres been 2 parties ahead of us for over 75 minutes?! Never again. If you want everything wrong come here! So today my mom and I came here around 4, they told us it would be a 20 minute wait, so we walked to the end of the street and walked back (5 minutes). They called our name after 5 mins. We were like "sweet"! We ordered king crab and shrimp, the whole sha-bang, mild spice. First comes out a bowl of rice, we didn't order rice. Next comes out oysters, we didn't order oysters. Third comes out lobster, we didn't order lobster. After sending back all 3 items, we finally got our order, the king crab and the shrimp. Disappointed to see there's only 2 pieces of king crab, that's suppose to be a pound? At all the other boiling crabs I've ever been to they have given me 3-4 pieces per-pound, and it's hard to trust them since they haven't been able to get anything right. The shrimp was good. Disappointing. Called in for pick up for Friday dinner around 5. Got a text saying it was ready, but waited another 30 mins just to get into the restaurant to pick up my food. Needs a better set up. Whats stopping disgruntled customers from placing a large order and not paying if they don't want to wait? Customers were waiting around the block because of COVID occupancy/indoor restrictions. Disappointed on the food I got- The clams & shrimp barely had any sauce. The sauce was clumsy. I got a whole garlic. = stingy with sauce and they raised up the price. The food is always delicious and very quick. Make sure to set reservations through the app before heading over as the line is always long. Honestly love the decor of the place really reminds you you're eating a seafood place. Every time I've gone the servers have been very friendly and polite. They do sometimes take long to swing by your table to check if you need anything else but this place is so fast paced it's understandable. Seriously love this place! Every time I visit California, this is a place where I have to go. Food: We ordered three pounds of shrimp, half a pound of sausage, two corns, and potatoes. We got two pounds of shrimp mild with the whole shabang sauce. The other pound we got medium and with the whole shabang sauce. Medium is personally a little to spicy for me to actually enjoy so I tend to go for mild. We also ordered the cajun fries with medium spice along with a cup of white rice. Service: The service was super friendly! They helped us with estimating how much to order for our group. They gave us suggestions and answered any questions we had. They were super attentive and refilled our drinks. Atmosphere: The inside was spacious and not crowded. TVs on the walls along with interesting decor. After alllllll these years, the wait is still 45+ minutes even on a Wednesday night and this is for a table of two! I can't imagine what it's like for anything more than a party of four. I really like that they've updated to a "texting waitlist" so you can roam around while you wait and they'll text you when your table is ready. We got two pounds of shrimp (whole shabang, medium) w/ corn and a side of cajun fries. The shrimp was a bit overcooked but the sauce was on point per usual although they have been skimping on the sauce more and more over the years. Cajun fries are a must everytime. My first impression was, "It's the closest Boiling Crab to the Valley and I'm craving it really bad. Let's go!" Step one: put my name on "the list." Step two: wait patiently outside, write on the walls if I'm bored. Step three: get seated and get "bibbed." Step four: peel, dip, eat. repeat. Those cajun fries...crisped and fried to perfection with the right amount of spices to kick my taste buds...hot and crunchy. Make that into sweet potato fries and I'm on a whole 'nother level. I like Boiling Crab but don't like the wait @ Valley Blvd location..so I was happy when I saw a grand opening sign at this place. Wow...no wait at this restaurant. I waited more than one hour at the other place before and that's why I didn't go there often. The girl said the wait here was 15-20 minutes. Guess what? She called my name after only 5 minutes. 2 minutes after we sat down someone already asked if we were ready to order. That girl came back twice and two other people asked if we were ready to order in less than 5 minutes. At first it was kinda nice, but after a while we were hoping they would stop asking us. The rice came about a minute after we ordered. That"s kinda weird...the rice would be cold. My shrimps came in 2 minutes and the crab came 5 minutes after that. Very quick service. I just wish they checked on us more often after that because we waited forever to get attention for our refills. Shrimps and crab were yummylicious. Boiling Crab almost never disappoints...except for the last time my friends and I went. I'll make that experience brief (and at the end of the review) since it isn't really a reflection of all the other experiences. There's something about the Whole Shabang that makes shrimp so much more addicting than it really should be, and that makes the usual 1-2 hour wait time worth it. The spicy, buttery, lemony and savory flavors mix together and result in the most perfect cajun combination that will leave your tastebuds craving more! My usual order is a pound (for myself) of shrimp, whole shabang, medium spicy, with one corn and a Corona. On occasion, I'll order sausages, but that's not often. Usually the shrimp is live, boiled perfectly and is very tender and juicy. The corn never disappoints...especially after it swims around in the sauce while you're eating your shrimp, crawfish, or whatever you order. I usually save the corn for the end since that's when it's soaked the most! As I mentioned, usually the shrimp delicious, however, the last time I went, my friends who ordered crawfish all felt like it was over boiled, frozen, and just very disappointing. Also, I had some shrimp that was over boiled and stuck to the shell when I peeled it. Also, my wait time went from 1 hour 10 minutes to a whopping 2 hours. Every time I asked the lady how long an estimate would be, she would say something like, "soon", or "it's shorter than it was earlier". No help. Hopefully that was just a small hiccup since most of my other trips ended up pretty good. Sometimes, we never even had to wait!! Regardless of that one bad time, I still enjoy having Boiling Crab on occasion. And since this is the Boiling Crab closest to me, it'll always be the one I visit the most! read more

We ordered here for our Super Bowl party. They do not have delivery. We went to go pick it up. It was very organized and COVID procedures were in place. I got the Cajun seasoning. I thought the crab was to die for, as well as the gumbo. Unfortunately, the shrimp had a weird soft mushy texture like it had been frozen. Also, these rather large shrimp weren't cleaned. Ick. I love this Boiling Crab!! This review is for the newer location on Main, NOT the one on Valley! We had a huge group of about 15 and we originally went to the Boiling Crab on Valley. But when we got there around 3:30 PM, there was ALREADY a wait! CRAZY!! So they suggested we go to their other location which is only 5 minutes away on Main and they guaranteed they would be able to seat us right away. And they were right! As soon as we walked in, there were plenty of tables for all 15 of us to sit together and there was zero wait! The food is the same as the other location. DELICIOUS. I loooove their shrimp and especially their CORN in the sha-bang sauce! Be ready to get super messy and don't think that you don't need that bib... because you do. The less messy foods and sides are pretty good too, like the fried oysters, fried catfish, sweet potato fries, and cajun fries. As for parking, I thought it was much easier here at this newer location. We parked in the lot in the back for free (the same lot as for Charlie's Trio). But I think it depends on what time you go. You might have to pay a couple dollars or try to find street parking nearby. read more

I ordered take out from here and it was fantastic because the guy taking care of all the take-out orders was on it. The entire situation could have been disastrous, but he took care of it and everything was effortless and jolly. I called in my order, they asked for my name and phone number and told me when to pick it up. Upon my arrival my order wasn't even in the system! I was asked if I called a different Boiling Crab, the one on Valley, but no, I called the right one. So the guy took my order again and rushed it. My food came out in 5 minutes. It was great. Market price for the shrimp was $9.00. Great service, good food, and decent price! I've eaten here before and the wait stinks to dine in because there isn't much space and you have to wait for people to peel their food and eat it. Most of the wait is people peeling/prepping/ defooding. If you think about it, the food doesn't take long to cook. Too bad this place didn't expand to accommodate more people. Prepare to get messy if you order shrimp, crab, lobster, crawfish, or anything with shells/skin. The whole sha-bang is good. Mild can get spicy, but in a good way. Great place to take the family, but prepare to wait if you get there around prime meal time. read more

I love boiling crab. Who doesn't? Just don't like the one in Rowland Heights. What on earth was THAT all about? AVOID!!! We came to the new Alhambra location during the less busier hours and ordered 2 lbs of crawfish and a pound of shrimp. Everything was Medium spicy which was perfect to our liking with a side of sweet potato fries and fresh oysters. Their sauce is amazing as usual. I love how it contains A LOT of garlic and spice. I would love to give this place 5 stars but.......were those baby crawfish they served? Those were tiny~ I worked so hard on peeling and breaking off the head of those crawfishes only to get like an inch of actual meat. I'm not saying it's not good. Just itsy bitsy tiny little critters! lol Other than the size of the crawfish, this place rocks! read more
