It still contrasts the shrimp and crawfish meat enough that it highlights the sweetness and taste of the seafood, and feels fresher after dipping the peeled seafood into a bright and tangy lime-pepper mix. But the seafood itself? Over the past couple months it's been getting less fresh to the point where peeling off the shrimp's shell will scrape off part of the meat. As it's no longer fresh, it simply disintegrates at the slightest touch or chew. It's mind boggling how they charge market price when clearly everything they sell is frozen beyond freshness... My go-to order is half pound shrimp Cajun mild (~$7) and cajun fries. Dip the fries into the sauce in the bag! I also get lime and squeeze that into the pepper. Okay sometimes I dip the Cajun shrimp into ketchup AND lime/pepper. It's so good and the prices aren't bad here. I'm not really a fan of adding potatoes, sausages, or corn in the bag. I've tried other items such as fried shrimp and catfish but still like the Cajun shrimp the best. They have also been giving a free sample appetizer if you do a survey from your previous visit! Taste was not bad! But can be a bit pricey. We got 2 lbs of shrimps with extra sauce, 1 lb of mussels, 2 baskets of fried soft shell crab with cajun fries, 2 rice. Whole shabang sauce was our choice of sauce. For 3 of us, each paid $30 including tax and tips. All people in your party have to be present to be seated. Service was quick and prompt. The shrimp were plump and sweet (does depend on the season a bit) and the fried sides were plenty filling. I placed my order and waited in my car until I received the text stating that my order was ready. At that point, I was the first person in the "pick up order" line - this should be a painless process, right? Wrong. I waited in that line for 25 minutes because it looked like they were prioritizing entry into the restaurant - people that placed a to-go order on-site instead of by phone were allowed entry immediately once their food was ready. By the time I finally was allowed into the restaurant to pay for my order, I felt like walking out. Who wants to pay $100+ for lukewarm food that has been ready and just sitting there for 25 minutes? The server was rude and they kept talking to each other , made us very uncomfortable and definitely will never go back there ever again. The manager had no training of making sure we were satisfied. Me and my party decided to drive to Alhambra and I'm glad we did.the staff did mean offense. We called in and tried to talk to a manager and she basically just brushed it off and read a script given to her. Sometimes you just gotta take an L and try to improve instead of blaming your customers. Still the worst boiling crab location in California. They need to train their managers and servers.
