Horrible customer service. Ordered takeout and was told I would receive a text message when ready in about 20-30 minutes. Ordered at 6:10 and payed and didn't receive a single text message or call. Checked multiple times inside and told me order wasn't ready. Went in for the last time at 7:40 and order was sitting on the counter COLD because no one told me it was ready. Sunday night 7pm - the wait for a table of 3 was about 40 minutes. That's not too bad considering the usual 1-1.5 hours I am accustomed to at the other location. That could be attributed to the size of this place - it's much larger than the Valley and Main St. locations. All things considered, the shrimp was fresh (not mushy) and the fries were made to order (not soggy). The service was a hit-or-miss. I am so glad that they opened a new boiling crab closer to home!! The location that I used to go to was all the way on Main Street. The Main Street b.c. wait time for a seat is usually 1-1.5 hr long, which in my opinion is ridiculous!! The b.c. in Rosemead had no wait! Just walked right in and got sat! Food tastes the same as all the other location, delicious! My boyfriend and I ordered 2 pounds of the whole sha bang shrimp ( market price $13/lbs), cajan fries ($4), steam rice ($3), Heineken ($4), coke ($3). We were so full, we had to take half a lbs of shrimp as take out! Total cost of our meal was $50! Not too bad for the amount of food we ordered! Only downfall of this location is that it is hidden right behind target, so you literally have to go around the whole plaza! Also, boiling crab shares the same parking lot as la fitness so parking can sometimes be difficult to find. read more

Do I even need to rate this place?!? They deserve negative stars. We went last night because we heard their seafood is fresh and delicious. I ordered the snow crab and a pound of the shrimp both with "the whole sha bang". More like "the whole vomit and diarrhea". First off, the seafood is not fresh like they claim so, if you're looking for fresh DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT GO HERE PERIOD! Unless you have a stomach built like a tank and enjoy all the ailments of food poisoning. Secondly, we spent 100 bucks for the worst day of 2022. Lastly, I wish all the best for all businesses but, if you're doing bad business you deserve to be looked into. Boiling Crab is always a good idea. I'm actually not a big fan of shrimp, so I tend to order a pound of clams drenched in the whole shebang with mild spiciness for $11. While it is undoubtedly delicious, the downfall of this is that clams are not as filling, because all the weight goes into the shells. I would suggest to Boiling Crab to serve at least 1.5 pounds for the same price. Aside from the clams, I also ordered snow crab (price varies), cajun fries ($4), and lemon pepper hot wings ($6.50). They were all very worthy of drool. You wouldn't think chicken would be good at a seafood restaurant, but those hot wings deserved a gold medal. read more

I was so excited that there was a Boiling Crab opening up nearby my house. Gave this place a try a couple of times and was disappointed. This location is a hit or miss. The flavoring is not consistent. Although, there isn't much of a wait compared to the other locations in Alhambra, I would prefer to wait in line for better tasting food. I ordered a sweet tea to drink and was disappointed in that too. It seems to be the Lipton citrus teas instead of the fresh made sweet tea like the Alhambra location. We ordered 3 lbs shrimp, 1 lb crawfish, and 1lb clams in mild with the whole sha bang sauce but everything was extremely salty. I informed one of the servers about it and she asked if we would like for her to take it back and have it remade. Once it was brought back it seemed more watered down and the shrimp became harder to peel. The service could've been better we had to keep asking for refills on our drinks but it's to be expected since they were busy with a big group that came in. read more

The food has been pretty good every time I have been here. However, it is totally unacceptable when we try to call in 7 times (just in case their phone was having problems a few times) to arrive at the restaurant and see the staff able to take phone calls but chose to not pick up ours. To his credit, the cashier at the front put extra effort into being nice to us so we didn't want to be upset at him, and they were busy. It was just frustrating to see the phone employee complaining to her coworker about her job, and just standing there taking a call every so often. Again, great food but never coming back here if they don't pick up after a few (hopefully less than 7) tries at the phone. They clearly must not want to take the order anyway. read more

I'm giving boiling crab 4 stars because of the food-- not the service. I always order 1lb of live crawfish (frozen if live is not available) and 1lb of shrimp. The sauce is crucial! You HAVE to remember to get this. Whole shabang medium with extra garlic! I would also order sweet potato fries to share with the table since it comes with a lot! If I'm feeling REALLY hungry, I'll order rice on the side (mix it with the shabang sauce) and half a dozen of oysters. (YES, I EAT A LOT) Once the food arrives at the table, I usually ask for extra limes so I can squeeze it into the bag and shake before eating. It gives it a little zing! I save about 2 limes to clean my hands at the end because the sauce smell will linger on your hands for a LONG time. 1. Squeeze and rub the lime all over your hands and under your fingernails. 2. Wipe your hands with a napkin. 3. Use the sanitizing towelette they provide. 4. Wash your hands in the restroom. Your hands will feel squeaky clean and won't smell as bad! Also, bring a sweater/jacket because this place has bomb AC which means you'll be freezing to death. Love it in the summer! read more

Once I heard this location opened, my husband and I came here for early dinner or late lunch on a Saturday in late September. This place is bigger than other 2 Alhambra locations. We didn't wait long to get a table which is nice. One half is for large groups and other half is for smaller parties. There are tv's surrounding the dining area. There is a huge take out counter no bar stools to sit and wait like Alhambra valley Blvd location. The waiter came after we sat down and ordered our drinks. We ordered 1lb crab legs, fried oysters, fried fish and fries, wings, fried shrimp, cup of rice, 2 beers, and 1 soda. The food came one by one and everything was delicious. There were plenty of servers around too. Plenty of parking and not a long wait. read more

This review is based on comparison by my previous experiences at other boiling crab locations. I rate this location 3 stars because of several mishaps. While it's a minor issue, not really a big deal but our waiter forgot to give us bibs. Even after the food came out and a couple different waiters. we did flag one down though and asked. It kinda bothered us because other customers who came in after us weren't forgotten by the same waiter. We ordered crawfish and shrimp at mild spiciness in the whole shabang flavor. The sauce was super watered down and liquidy. It tasted less flavorful and bland. They seemed to skimp out on the sauce. The bags weren't doubled bagged for leak safety. These details are prominent in other locations. Our raspberry tea also tasted pretty bland. Maybe it was an off day for this restaurant since it just opened up. We came around dinner hour and a few things were out of stock. No big deal since we get full off two or three menu items. Wasn't anything particular that I prefer in stock. The bathroom is expanded though which is a plus. If I recall correctly, other locations only have one stall. The wait time to sit down wasn't long at all. Overall, I love this restaurant. She just moved to the area and we were super close, so we decided to pick up to go to avoid the line and watch some Netflix. The second I peeled into the first shrimp...uh oh... Finally decided to try this place out after lagging for so long. My friends and I went on a Saturday and arrive right when they opened. We were seated right away by a waitress and she asked us what we wanted to drink. The service was quick and friendly. They were attentive with checking up on our table every once in a while. They were super nice and not annoyed about us asking to split our checks at the end of the meal. The food was delicious and one order of Cajun fries was pretty big! (So worth it!!) The fried calamari was okay, nothing too special about it. Overall, this is place lives up to the hype and expectations from what I've heard. They only have one line for both checking in AND putting down your name, but once I finally got to the front they kept calling the people behind me in line for checking in. This place can get very busy through out the week but the deliciousness of the food more than validates that. The staff here are well trained and follow great Covid safety procedures. I hate to do this because I love Boiling Crab but the last two times I've gone the food has been different. The first thing I noticed was different was the sauce. It was different in taste but also in consistency. It's not as spicy as it use to be. That aside what has made me upset is the over cooked shrimp. The first time it happened they were so over cooked I could barely peel them with out losing half my shrimp. But this last time oh boy most of them were practically mush. I'm disappointed how they have changed their recipe when it was fine and the over cooked shrimp is just not appetizing. I hope they fix this issue the next time I go. Was served this catfish basket. When I turned over the fish, this is what it looked like. Server told me this is how they cook it. Crystal and David, who I was told was the manager, told the server (they didn't even come to the table to see) because I touched it there was nothing they could do to replace it. Had I not "touched" it to turn it over, I would have eaten this poorly cooked catfish. Dipping fish in oil doesn't suddenly mean it's cooked. The health dept should look into their practices. Would not recommend this location's food. And their management's customer service skills don't seem to be the best either. read more
