Good afternoon, my name is Patricia I visit the Rosemead location last night August 30 2021 at 6:15 I ordered $300 worth of food my kids and I were not able to eat the food because it tasted as if it was undercooked the shrimps was pretty hard to chew... I first called and spoke to JC the moment we discover the shrimps was pretty hard and seem to be undercooked JC told me that I would have to go to the emergency room to start a claim I asked her to talk to a store manager and she told me that she can pass all my information to her and then she will call me when she comes in and I ask her when is the store manager Crystal coming back in they told me that they cannot provide me with that information I called the next day which is today August 31 I then asked for the store managers she told me this is for the same thing last night I told her yes and I'm just looking to talk to the manager she said give me your number and I will have the manager call you an hour goes by another store manager calls me... I spoke with David the other manager he asked did I still have to food when I told him I had he then said that oh because of COVID that he wouldn't want to take the food back I ask why would he ask if I had the food in the First place he told me that he can give me some type of credit with the food after he did a quick examination but unfortunately that offer doesn't exist anymore then told me that he's just another manager and the store manager will call me but unfortunately there's nothing that they can do I explain to him that this is bad for customer service plus customer experience as I am a loyal boiling crab customer spending this type of money each visit he said ohhhh okay! The Boiling Crab - I had 2 orders - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Rosemead, California

This is for takeout orders. I called on Thursday for a takeout order because I was craving boiling crab. It took a minute for them to answer, took my order, asked for my name and number. They told me that the order would take 15-20 mins. It took me 10 mins to get there and when I got there they didn't punch in my order. Offered to put in my order and rush it out, their rushing out is 15 mins. Ridiculous. The two male servers were looking at each other like they're clueless and trying to "figure out" who took the order. I decided to leave and not order this "rush out" order which would have been the same as calling in an order. I'm sorry Boiling Crab, it was a disappointing experience. read more

I've heard good things about this place, but when I ordered to go from here I had a bad experience. I ordered 5 pounds of shrimp. The shrimp was not fresh at all. The meat was all mushy and very disappointing. Almost every single one of them was not fresh. I had maybe 2 okay tasting shrimp while most of what I ate was just mushy meat. I think this is unacceptable especially when you are only selling seafood. Overall I think this place is OVERRATED considering the sauce was just too salty. read more

Very yummy seafood! We ordered shrimp, lobster, mussels and crab legs. Their special sauce was my fav. Lobster is overpriced. We had the medium spice, it was too spicy it made my stomach hurts afterwards. Next time I'll try out their fresh crawfish but with mild spice. read more

I came here to celebrate my partners birthday. I emailed them to see what vegan options they had, they emailed back pretty fast said I can do the shebang sauce with potatoes and corn..they said I can also order rice and fries . Cool so this was not an issue ! I understand it's a seafood place but I still wanted to come. We ordered 2 lbs of shrimp with cajun fries for my partner then for me lemon pepper fries, potatoes and corn with shebang sauce, and rice. Our server kind of ghosted us the whole time there. I had to call her to get re fills.. she also missed the rice on my order so I just left it at that. My boyfriend loved his food, he said it was delicious and honestly even though they dont have many vegan options, I enjoyed my sides! the sauce was really delicious . This place is the spot, it doesn't matter if it's raining or we are at 100 degrees, The Boiling Crab food doesn't care about weather! I love the ambiance of this place, the hype of all the walls, the beer cans around the edges inside the restaurant, and the super friendly and fast crew! I've never had any issues with my food, been coming here for years now. My fav is 1.5lbs of shrimp, whole sha-bang, and medium (I used to eat XXX but I got older and I like to enjoy my food now), 5 corns, and sausage. Our second time here and we were utterly disappointed !! The wait was long and it's understandable but after we were seated, we had to wait for almost 15 minutes to see a server and the server we got (Jeannie) was not the most friendly host. She never came to check on us and asked if we needed anything ( we did). We ordered steamed rice, which we got after we asked her AGAIN but by that time we were done with everything else so what's the point !! The food quality was poor. There was not enough sauce. Not sure why there was not enough juice. I don't recall being so dry. Alternative will be I order a cup of the juice. I don't like to eat my food cold. I ask the sever with pink Yankee hat to check on my order. She said it's not ready and orders come out as they order. I ask her if she can check on it. I don't like to eat my food cold. The server said I can cancel it if you like. I said fantastic, let me speak with your manager. Overall this location is horrible with service. Never like to come here but it's 7 minutes away from home. The manager didn't do anything about it and stood the ground for her sever. The order comes out as order but when I received the extra juicy order it was lukewarm. Interesting. The whole environment seems tense and unorganized. Although the severs seem to laugh and chatting with each other instead of checking on their tables. Horrible service. I worked in the restaurant industry many years. This place has really went down hill I use to frequent this place but now not so much I ordered 60.00 bucks worth of food and when I got home I had To put the potatoes in the microwave to soften them up because they were raw and not cooked. Watch out because all the managers are going to do is make excuses and never take any accountability Serving undercooked food is a serious health hazard and I don't recommend this particular location. We were seated next to a table that was friends with a bunch of the young servers so we were ignored. Ex. Putting a bib on only one person in our party while the rest of us watched. We reserved online our spot telling us it would be a 45 min wait and we waited 30min in and to come in and for the worker to tell us that they usually have wrong times on yelp and that's it's normal. And tell us we have to wait an additional 40min I don't think that's okay. It's not our fault that they are having technical difficulties online and we should take the blame for that it's not okay. Trying to place an order over the phone for this place is nearly impossible, the line is busy all busy, they need a better phone system, it's really irritating when you spend an hour trying to call a place to order food, and yes I could go and wait in line but it would be the same thing since lines are crazy read more

Food and service are consistently good and the wait is consistently long, this almost never fails. I am not kidding. As a regular, I've learned to go off hours or if I'm really really craving for it during dinner time, it is best to go before 7pm on the weekdays or 6 on the weekends. Trust me, I go there that often that I know. Anything with the whole Shabang is bomb, spice level at medium please. I've tried hot before but it is beyond my enjoyable limit. My ultimate favorite here is the crawfish but you MUST get the fresh/live ones, the flavor difference between that and the dead ones are unparalleled. Another must is their Cajun fries, you can choose the seasoning and spice level as well. Overall, everything here is pretty good, shrimps, oysters (raw or seasoned), clams, corn, etc. There is something for everyone, even if you don't like any of the Cajun items I've listed. Than as we received our food I had to ask multiple times about my sauce cup I didn't receive, until finally I just had them take it off my receipt by waving someone down, no asked if we needed anything or more drinks until we're already done with our food an than that's when someone started coming consistently. I love this place the only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 star is because some days the shrimp comes out really good or the shrimp comes out bad and I'll tell you what I mean. Food: The shrimp are nice size shrimp and I understand if you have to pay a little extra for the sauce but some days it will have enough were I don't need to pay extra for the juice and then there are days when its just too much oil in the bag and not enough of that good seasoning stuff. Their oysters are really good and it comes with a sauce you have to dab on the oysters. Customer Service: The wait time on a weekend is crazy anywhere. The wait time on weekends can be between 45min-1hr. I recommend going on a weekday when they open they seat you faster and the food always comes out quickly no matter what day it is. Huge fan of boiling crab. Decided to try the Rosemead one a third time and it wasn't that great. The fried soft shell crabs were smaller than normal and the triple x sauce wasn't spicy and was actually quite bitter. The speed is quite slow. My corn came out first, and by the time the rest of the food came out, it was already cold. With that being said, our waitress Lisa was amazing! Very attentive and friendly. This location is not greatest, comparing to the other locations. staffs are not very friendly and they make you wait outside. They don't want everyone crammed up near the door and the front is always pack. So if you're going with a party everyone has to be present in order to be seated If you are called and one person in your party is not there yet, you will have to wait longer which is dumb. We ordered our beverages and food at the same time as our waiter suggested. The food came before the drinks but everything was delicious. We had the shrimp boil (medium) Cajun sauce & it was delicious. They said on the hot scale it was about an 8/10 but the medium sauce was more like a 5. (I don't eat spicy food tbh ) but the medium had a better flavor than the mild for sure. The food comes in plastic bags by the pound and you eat it with your hands. It is extremely messy as you have to peel the shrimp and there is always a high potential for getting dirty. The shrimp come whole with the head and everything.
