Disgusting filter thats overdue to be changed
    Jennifer M.

The only thing this hotel didn't have was bedbugs. There was however, a dirty air filter, mold in the bathroom, and the shower looks like it's never been cleaned. Luckily, I had a pair of sandals to shower in because I wouldn't trust walking barefoot anywhere in this hotel, especially that shower. Unfortunately, staying here was just for the location since there was no amenities including free hotel parking.

The following is simply my opinion from the experience I had during my recent stay. Rated as a 4 Star Hotel. I was staying there while in Boston on business. Had a Deluxe Room For 4 nights. Full Balcony with table and chairs, King Size Bed With floor to ceiling windows on two sides. It had dirty and stained carpet, dirty and stained drapes that were also pulling out of the ceiling, windows that had not been cleaned on the outside for what looked like months and months, and an awning that was stuffed full of birds nests (just guessing that does not work, though they show it in their marketing pictures) broken refrigerator with exposed electric and circuit boards, cracked sink in the bathroom, a TV that worked 1 of the 1 of the 4 nights and an HVAC that sounded like the little engine that could ( chugga, chugga, chugga...). On top of that, and litterally on top of me, they were having roof work done which started at 5:30 in the morning. The detritus of which covered my balcony (they did clean that up once). One of the main elevators was out, though the only sign indicating that was on the 7th floor. In response to a request for toilet paper and coffee for the room, they advised they were having issues sourcing it. Did eventually get toilet paper but only had decaf for the room. I could go on but I think you get the picture. Location was amazing. They thought so too as they charge you an extra $30 per day for it. If you are looking for a nice experience at a hotel that charges in the $400 to $600 range per night I could not recommend this hotel.

My, how the mighty have fallen. Not sure if it's an ownership change or what, but, this hotel has gone down the drain. Firstly, as I checked in, 3 employees at the lobby desk on their phones, not minding a thing. Finally got their attention and get my key. I mean, it's a slow night, but, c'mon. Then they said the restaurant took room charges, and it doesn't. Room itself was pretty clean. Toilet seat was a little wobbly. But, no bar setup, no snack setup and the breakfast room service came in to go containers and plastic utensils. We also asked for water and they suggested we go downstairs for bottled water. What?!?!? This place was my go to, then we started going to the Wharf hotel. Total night and day. It was a good run Bostonian.

My son and I came to Boston for a Yelp Boston Elite Experience. I found The Bostonian Hotel Boston via DayUse. Since we were only going to be here for the day, I booked this hotel. My son is CyberSchooled so we needed a quiet area for him to complete classes before exploring the Boston area. The room was nice and neat. Very cozy for what we needed. He was also able to get a nap after classes and the bed was firm yet soft enough for a restful sleep. We booked the room from 10am -6pm at a cost of $85 + tax. Very affordable and reasonably priced for the stay we had. Staff was friendly and of assistance if we needed anything. Will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Boston

The location is great, and boy do they charge you for it. My boyfriend paid about $300 a night for our "superior king" room last weekend after finding the hotel on Expedia. I put my card on file for the weekend, assuming that the $200 hold would fall off once we checked out. It did not. The valet, at almost $70 a night, which my boyfriend says Expedia listed as "free valet" and the $30 a night "destination fee" which wasn't listed anywhere in the hotel information and I only found alongside the menu of ridiculously overpriced room service options, were charged against that $200 hold and beyond. For our two-night stay, arrive Sunday leave Tuesday, which he paid almost $600 for to make the reservation in the first place, we were billed an additional $205.88. This is not, in ANY WAY, a $400 a night hotel. The room was not small, but certainly not large. Beyond the bed and the side tables there was a nice little desk and chair, and a strange little cabinet that had a few small drawers and an inoperative mini fridge that was once a minibar. When we returned one evening with food we called down to the desk (using the speakerphone because the handset on the room phone did not work) to ask if this fridge could be used to store the food. The desk attendant said sure, it could be used for storage, but when asked if there was a way to make it actually cold inside, we were told there was not. Not that it mattered anyway, because of the unremovable shelves the food we had did not fit in there anyway. Let's talk about the menu: I only looked at the breakfast menu, and that's all I needed to know that we would not be ordering any room service. The chicken and waffles, $24. The "classic breakfast", or whatever they called it, two eggs, toast, etc., was $22, add a coffee? $8. Side of extra toast? That's another $6. Also on the menu, the note that all food is served in takeout containers. Not even proper plates, presumably so they don't have to pay a dishwashing staff or something, which is odd considering there's a restaurant on the premises. The view from our second floor room was decent enough, and there was a nice breeze with the balcony doors open, but the two of us barely fit on the balcony. Also the heat in the room didn't work, and the thermostat was in Celsius. The shower was great, I'll give them that. Heated up quickly and the handheld wand shower head was a wonderful addition. Was also very spacious, plenty of room to move around. So, yeah, you're paying for the location and not much else, honestly.

We stayed at this hotel for a recent family graduation at Berkeley. Pricy rooms but great location. We had a suite with 3 small balconies looking out at the city from the second floor. Our daughter had a room on the 7th floor with a smaller room but a better view of the city. The staff was very nice and the valet/doorman was great. Unfortunately they did not deliver the flowers I ordered for my wife for check in. They did deliver the other gifts (robe $75 and chocolate $30) as well as the mini fridge $20 extra to the room. The fitness room is small but gives you something to do if you want. There is also a restaurant on the first floor that is very nice for a good meal at a reasonable price for the area. The beds were comfortable, even the pull out from the couch. The house cleaning staff was amazing. My wife doesn't tends to get out of the room until 1130 or noon and they were still in to clean and freshen up the room after us. Many hotels stop all cleaning at a much earlier time and will not come back in if you're not out of the room early in the morning. They kept our room stocked and filled with towels much better than any other hotel we have stayed at. There were some issues with our suite. The heat for the living room did not work and the shower door did not seal. The hotel could use a bit of an upgrade and a facelift as well.

We recently stayed at The Bostonian and were unfortunately placed in Room 409, which shares a wall with the hotel's event space. There happened to be a wedding during our stay, and the bass and noise made it feel like we were in the celebration, not beside it. I called the front desk around 10:00pm to ask how long it would go on, and they told me until 10 or 11pm but didn't offer to move us unless I asked. There was some hesitation when I did ask to switch rooms (not sure why), and they warned us the new room wouldn't have as nice of a view. We were fine with that, we just wanted sleep. The second room had a few surprises: handprints in the shower, face prints on the balcony door, and a balcony door that didn't actually close. The best part? The balcony overlooked the event space, so we could still hear the wedding music, just with a new angle. We called for maintenance, but no one showed up before 11pm. I ended up canceling the request because we just wanted to go to bed. In the morning, there was a paper slipped under the door that looked like a receipt or invoice, but no explanation or apology. It was the "Destination Fee". We had hoped for a relaxing night in a nice hotel, but this experience was more chaotic than restful. If you're staying here, definitely ask if there's an event happening, and avoid Room 409 at all costs.

Brief Summary: - Basic needs are met - Close to the Faneuil Hall - Plush beds - Some amenities are unusable - Noise level - quiet from outside; depends on the guests next door - Complimentary water bottles on the warm season I visited - Destination fee added on each night We arrived in the beginning of June to visit Boston. We have reserved a room at this hotel a month in advance, and at the time the rate was lower than the other offered hotels. The location is at a perfect spot for touring around Boston; it was in the heart of the town. It was easy to access two of the public transportations, some of their iconic historic buildings can be seen a block away. Check in was at 4pm, but we arrived at the hotel in the morning. They informed us that an additional fee is added if we check in early, so we decided to drop off our suitcases at the front and spend some time exploring out in Boston. We checked in after 4pm. During the check in process the staff explained the details and amenities, as well as a letter with other notes and informations. Some were about the window cleaning schedules, and another one was about the nightly destination fee. Fortunately, we saved for our vacation, but the nightly fee would have caused some of the guests to leave early. This building is not shaped like a square; it felt like it was built in the narrow but available space it had. When we were heading to our room, we walked through hallways and some turns. Maybe the good thing about this twisty-turny hallway is that the rooms aren't aligned neatly adjacent to each other. Our room had only one neighbor; the first guest was quiet, but the second one was rowdier and didn't know proper human etiquette (the basic rule of staying quiet after midnight, so my relative complained that these new guests were laughing and shouting in the room next to us. Fortunately, that was only one day). Good night rest was successful. I was practically in deep sleep throughout the nights. My other relative, who is a light sleeper, was the only one who was suddenly woken up one night due to the loud guest neighbors and an alarm that rang out certain times in the night. The air conditioning worked well and adjusted quickly to cool us down for the summer nights. The bed was plush but with the air conditioning it kept the sleep cool. The bathroom looked clean but some wear and tear was seen. The dryer didn't work, but other than that, we had no issues using the bathroom. There was a bar soap, small bottles of shampoo and conditioner to use. The shower had the main showerhead and the handheld next option that could be adjusted with the sliding nob. Our bathroom was a room with the tub/shower, toilet, and the vanity in one, and this is enclosed by a smaller space to store clothes. Two sliding doors in total to get into the bathroom, but none had a lock. There was a instant coffee maker, but from first impression, it looked like it wasn't cleaned thoroughly, so we didn't use during the time there. When the weather was growing warmer, a refrigerator close to the entrance provided complimentary water bottles. This helped a lot during the stay and kept us hydrated for the visiting days. On checkout day, we found a paper slip at the foot of the door, and this was the receipt of the destination fee.

Fancy drinks for the pre game.

The Dark Bar was the classic hotel indulgence. Great service and top notch drinks. I had the classic old fashioned and was very satisfied. It was a busy Saturday night and was able to get two bar seats after waiting for a few minutes. Definitely worth the splurge.

On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

Check in staff and valet workers were friendly and greeted us with a smile. Rates were very reasonable for end of summer and with a concert so close. Room was smaller this stay around and our view was more of just a building with a small glance of TD Garden if you looked to the side. Overall a very clean room and still a good amount of space. Can not think of any complaints for our stay and would stay here again. They offer valet parking and anytime we needed the car it was quick to get it back. Inside the lobby/first floor they have plenty of seating and what they dub "The Bistro" that offers breakfast, dinner, and full bar and I believe Starbucks drinks too. Location wise it is quite ideal, obviously if your activities/work is in this area of Boston. Besides TD Garden it is also close to North station along with plenty of food and drink options. Personally for a morning coffee or matcha I say check out Blank Street Coffee, then food wise I would say take a quick walk to the North End or closer try Tavern In The Square. Definitely a hotel worth looking into while visiting Boston!

The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas, like last year, and I had to take some pictures to have as desktop wallpaper on my computer. We had a very nice time and the selections on the menu were impressive. I went with the carrot cake chai black tea, mainly because it had pumpkin pie kinds of spices and vanilla rooibos. It tasted wonderful, like an autumnal tea, and all our teas came in beautifully decorated tea pots, apparently from Australia. The Four Seasons also does this interesting thing where they give you a liquor that fits with your tea order, to be added if you wish or drank by itself. I had a sip of mine and from someone else's, a bit strong for me but a bailey's one was alright. I'm fine with just tea myself! As for the food, this year's high tea was one of the best I've had. The menu was different from last year's, which was great too but in my opinion this seemed like an upgrade. Some of the food items included pieces of salmon in a little pastry, mini lobster roll, peking duck crepe, curried chicken croissant, a beautiful deviled egg, vanilla bean and brown butter scones, an eggnog tart, and a Santa hat shaped raspberry pastry. We even got some alternate options for a lactose sensitive person, so that's a great plus as well. The atmosphere was elegant and calming, and the service was great. The Four Seasons high tea was a very special holiday event, and comes highly recommended!
