The Break Room - The Only Room I Take a Break In. Tremendous Balls, People! Let me tell you--The Break Room is absolutely fantastic. Incredible name. Beautiful place. When I heard it was a pool bar, I thought we were talking swimming, folks. Brought my red trunks and everything. But no--billiards! Way better. Much drier. Very smart move. You walk in, and boom--TVs everywhere. Sports on every screen. Football, baseball, golf, even one showing curling. Yes, curling. I said, "Is this Canada?" But it was San Diego, and it was perfect. The energy? Electric. Like a MAGA rally but with more nachos and slightly fewer chants. Now the pool tables--wow. Pristine. Leveled like the electoral map in 2016. The cue sticks? Strong. Straight. Tremendous aim. I sank the 8-ball on my third turn. People were clapping. One guy cried. He said, "That was the most patriotic shot I've ever seen." It was. Drinks? Ice cold. Beers from every country, even ones I've put tariffs on. Cocktails? Dangerous. I had something called "The Break Down." Delicious. Very strong. One sip and you start believing you could run the country. (Which I have. Twice.) The food? Classic bar food but next level. Wings that are huge--not like those little flappy ones you get at the sad chains. These are American Eagle wings, folks. The kind of wings that deserve a salute. And the people--salt of the earth. Beautiful people. Great conversations. I told one guy I used to own a football team, and he said, "That explains your arm." Very flattering. Might give him a cabinet position. Dee was so wonderful and accommodating! He checked our ids on coming in and made our drinks in quick succession. His fit was great, his drinks were delicious, and he even remade one we couldn't bear. This bar was bigger than I was expecting and had yummier cocktails than you would expect given the price point! Truly wonderful experience. There are six pool tables, it costs 1$ a game, and there are plenty of deals on drinks if you care to look around. The bathroom has tampons, lotion, pads, and perfume. The staff is respectful. Patty and I met our dear friends Don and Holly at this charming watering hole found in a so-called strip mall. Don and Holly were already there when we arrived. Holly noted that the bartender mistakenly gave her a double vodka soda proclaiming "double the vodka, double the fun" as she hoisted her drink high in the air to welcome us. Now, the Break Room's moniker is NOT a reflection of a bar designed to resemble a place of respite for the working class, but in recognition of the seemingly wall-to-wall pool tables! So much so, I do not believe there was room enough to dance. Holly, however, proved me wrong as she fluttered about the room doing an interpretive dance to Queen's "We Will Rock You." The dance inspired the many billiarders to tap their cues in unison. Found this little hole in the wall randomly one Saturday afternoon when we were waiting for our Korean BBQ table. We thought- ehh, why not grab a drink while we wait 40 minutes... right? As we walked in we felt a tad shy being that it was a Sunday afternoon and we were walking into a bar... but we were greeted right away by a few local regulars and the bartender was very friendly as well. We sat at the bar, ordered some drinks, and enjoyed the dive bar scenery. I really like going to The Break Room - formerly knock as Victor's. Except when it's pool league night, which happens often. The league uses all of the pool tables - except for one. That one table gets snatched up quick. Call ahead to see when leagues are playing. Bartenders are cool. You can bring your own food in - no kitchen. Parking can be a challenge, the lot is shared with several restaurants. There are a few spots right out on the street if you don't see anyone walking to their car to leave. read more

(he can look down the bar and see who is looking for another drink VS avoiding/not making eye contact and making you wait like some bartenders) If you want to go shoot some pool you need to go early or late or check to see if pool league is going on when you want to come out as there won't be open tables. If you are looking to watch a sporting event there are a few TV's behind the bar. If you smoke you can go out back. All other bars around the area are much cleaner, have friendly and quicker service, and some of them have pool tables as well (including Q Billiards and Carriage House, which are both just down the street from this disgusting rat trap! Just look at how disgusting and dirty the old countertop are! It's straight up filthy and every other bar other than Break Room is much cleaner, has the same drink selection at the same prices, and most of them have a much nicer vibe to enjoy your time off in. Came here on a Wednesday night. There were a few people at the bar and a few others shooting pool. It seems as though people come here to shoot pool more than anything. The place is very spacious with a lot of locals. The selection of beers were great and the bartender was very attentive. This is the spot you want to go to in Clairemont if you're looking for good drinks or to play pool in a friendly environment. I play in an APA pool league out of this bar. They have 6 tables to play on. When league is going on they are open but outside of league they are coin operated for a $1. The tables recently got re-felted which is nice. It gets pretty busy on pool league nights. It's hard to get a parking spot some nights since the parking lot is shared with other restaurant businesses. There are tournaments that are held here every so often. The competition is pretty great here, some pretty good shots play here. I come here when I want to practice as there is always people willing to shoot with you. The thing that stands out the most about the BR to me is that it's such a chill and friendly atmosphere. I've gotten to know so many of the regulars it really seems like a great pool community. It's a great place to shoot pool and relax and maybe have a drink. Good times. Something also worth mentioning is they have an outside patio for all you smokers out there. I've spent much time out there just shooting the breeze and chatting it up with all the regulars. The bar is a full bar with a very good selection of rotating craft beers, regular beers, and assortment of liquors. If you need any alcoholic drink they pretty much serve it here. The bar tenders are all top notch, and I'd like to give a shout to my man D. cause quite honestly he's pretty much the shit haha. I've been coming here regularly for about 4 years I'd say now, so this review was a long time coming. Aside from all the regulars that come, so many new people come too. There's a back patio with a big flat screen where you can smoke or toke. flat screens inside also so you can watch a game while shooting pool. It's a really chill spot. Bartender was super nice. There's a selection of craft beers as well as the usual domestic draughts. They serve pizza also for $11. Eat beforehand.
