Pretty disappointing. And no bread service at a steakhouse? That felt like a real miss. The biggest buzzkill was the flies. They were relentless, not just at our table but at others nearby too. I thought the young couple next to us were swatting at each other over dessert, but they were just trying not to share their huge peice of carrot cake with the flies. The copper tables smelled odd and looked dirty. Service was painfully slow. It took nearly half an hour just to get a martini after we were seated. I really hope The Brinkerhoff improves. It is obvious that the sales strategy is to sell the facility, which is very upscale. To cover the below average food, which was marginal at best, even when overlooking the issue with one of the orders. The price was not marginal, it was way out of line with the deliverable. I brought my mother in for her birthday lunch at the Brinkerhoff today and was amazed the entire time! I'm surprised I even got food into my stomach with my jaw on the floor!! Kate was our server and she was so awesome. I initially thought I wanted a dirty martini with blue cheese olives, but instead she directed me to a martini shaken with blue cheese. AMAZING! My mother hardly ever gets out, so she had a million questions about the menu and how food was prepared, but Kate answered them all with a huge smile on her face! I was torn between the tuna tartare and the crispy tuna rice, but once Kate described that the fish is flown in daily, and the dish is entirely prepared in house, I was sold. The flavors went together so nicely, and she even was kind enough to bring extra wonton crisps (the best part!). I wanted to treat my mother to a nice meal for her birthday, but I think the restaurant made it more special than I could! This review is for takeout only. I recently had someone bring me the coconut tuna roll and the salmon nigiri and was pleasantly surprised. While I found the addition of coconut on sushi to be an odd addition, the sushi itself was fresh and beautifully prepared. The salmon nigiri was the highlight. Fresh, decadent, absolutely delightful. The coconut tuna roll was delicious as well, I think I would skip the coconut topping next time as I found it over powering. This evening for my wife's birthday we went to The Brinkerhoff. Having never been, we were not sure exactly what to expect. Well, after dinner we have vowed to return. I'll break it down through all phases of our experience. First will be making reservation. Called early this afternoon for a reservation this evening. Promptly greeted on the phone by a very kind lady. Within a quick minute was able to reserve our dinner with much ease Now with the location and ambiance. Very easy to find, and well positioned with a perfect sunset view of the mountains. Well lit environment but yet still very intimate. Next will be greeting, hospitality, and staff service. Within 10 seconds of walking we were greeted as if we were the most important people to visit this evening. That means that we felt very welcomed upon our arrival. The hospitality did not stop there. We were seated and greeted by Marquez. Now this guy was the star of the evening. He knew the menu and wine pairings in great detail. His recommendations of menu items were outstanding. Seriously, you can tell when somebody takes pride in their work. This gentleman carries himself with great pride and genuine care. That level of self respect is reflective in the respect he shows others. Through him alone he can s 10 out of 10 easily. Now, why we all came. For the food. We ordered the pimento dip for an app. The bread was outstanding. The pimento dip was rich and full of flavor. Home run was the warm honey. Never would have thought of the combination of pimento dip and honey spread across toasted bread. YUM! For the main meal I had ordered the French Dip and the wife ordered the salmon. For the French Dip the star was the freshly made French bread. It was perfect for the large amount of thinly sliced prime rib. Speaking of the meat, the Prime Rib was so tender it nearly will melt in your mouth. The Salmon looked to be perfectly cooked. My wife gave that affirmation after her first bite. Then came the dessert. Ice Cream came with hot fudge both delicious. Key Lime pie was also perfect. It came with a really neat French Whipped Cream infused with key lime. AMAZING flavor and light. Overall, excellent experience, delicious meal, and Marquez was fantastic. If you find yourself looking for somewhere to have a celebratory dinner, recommend this place. Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna: A must order. These 4 pieces were amazing and we will definitely order again. Hawaiian Tuna Tartare: Wonderful dish. It was very light and fresh. Chipotle Glazed Wagyu Short Ribs: This came with 3 ribs. It was delicious, but very heavy. We were so full we took half home for leftovers, but it reheated well. My husband and I decided to try this place on a whim without reservations at around 5:30 on a Saturday. We didn't have a reservation (were told it would be a 2+ hour wait) and so we went to the bar for seating. A couple was leaving, so we were able to sit right away. The bar area was fairly full, but it seemed to turn over enough for people to not have to wait too long for a seat. There was an oddly drunk older gentleman that made for an odd entry to the restaurant, but he left quickly, thankfully, and the group at the bar had a good laugh. The menu looked phenomenal, so we ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna, prime rib beef roll, chicharron de ribeye, and a burger with truffle fries. Everything was spectacular, and next time we come, I'll be focusing on the chicharron de ribeye because it was EXCELLENT. Spectacular food, great ambiance, gorgeous sunset... Went a couple of months ago with friends and we were very excited to try the restaurant. The restaurant is very beautiful and the view stunning. The restaurant was not crowded when we arrived and we were originally seated in a booth toward the back of the restaurant where we could not even see the views. The booth seat was too deep and at the wrong angle making it very uncomfortable for the 2 women who are petite. We could not touch the ground. We asked to move and were put at a table closer to the windows which was nice but the chairs were still not comfortable. Food was decent but when I asked if I could substitute rotisserie chicken for the buttermilk fried chicken on a salad, the waitress very rudely told me no with no explanation. When I asked later she said the kitchen doesn't allow substitutions. I don't think I've ever been told no in a restaurant before for something like this. It was very poor customer service especially for a higher end restaurant. It rubbed me the wrong way and between the poorly designed furniture, the rude waitstaff and the high prices, I will not be back. read more
